Are you an exhibition space,
-
an archive, or a cultural institution?
-
Do you want to share your content
-
and increase the visibility
-
or your artworks and knowledge?
-
Share Your Knowledge is here to help you out.
-
How?
-
First, you need to follow Share Your Knowledge guidelines.
-
This means releasing all your digitised content online
-
under the CC-BY-SA license.
-
Then, inform all your contacts about the change
-
in license and upload your content to Wikipedia.
-
Finally, watch how your content
-
is accessed and used.
-
What is the CC-BY-SA license?
-
CC stands for Creative Commons.
-
This means that an author can choose which copyright
-
he or she would like to apply to their artwork
-
when they put it online.
-
BY means that anyone can use
-
your material freely
-
and for free on condition
-
that you are acknowledged and
-
credited on the new artwork.
-
SA means that any artwork,
-
resulting from your material,
-
must be distributed under the same license.
-
Is is like starting out a
-
“creative commons infection”.
-
So, what do I have to do?
-
Embed the CC-BY-SA logo on
-
all the pages that you have your content.
-
If you want to share ALL your material at once,
-
embed the logo on your entire website.
-
This will make your content available
-
on the web under the CC license.
-
What about the archive material that is not yet online?
-
If some of your content has been created
-
by someone outside your organization,
-
you will have to ask for their permission.
-
This way, you can release catalogues,
-
DVDs, videos, movies,
-
trailers and images
-
that are relevant to your content.
-
To make the project even more visible,
-
let your contacts know about it,
-
and if you really want to enhance your content,
-
tell Wikipedia volunteers!
-
By doing this,
-
you will contribute your valuable content
-
to the most used free encyclopaedia in the world,
-
with an audience of 400 million visitors!
-
Who can upload contents on Wikipedia?
-
You,
-
your colleagues,
-
your collaborators,
-
and all Wikipedia volunteers.
-
Once the content is online,
-
and following Wikipedia’s rules,
-
anybody will be able to correct a mistake,
-
add an image,
-
translate an article into another language,
-
and update any new information.
-
Wikipedia also has tools for you
-
to evaluate how effective
-
this Share Your Knowledge project
-
has been at increasing your content and its visibility!
