1:43 - 1:45and we signed off, it was under a different name,

1:45 - 1:47I can't remember, but I was just like,

1:47 - 1:49"Yeah this sounds like a really cool story,"

1:49 - 1:51and then sure enough it ends up in the movie

1:51 - 1:52and like, that's the coolest thing,

1:52 - 1:54that's like, you know, the biggest compliment to receive,

1:54 - 1:57especially a movie like that, just so forward-thinking,

3:39 - 3:43I'm not good enough for Heaven, so I just think it's ironic.

4:51 - 4:53"And the first thing you do coming off stage?"

4:53 - 4:55Last thing I do before going on stage,

4:55 - 4:57I watch the band hit the stage, I walk out,
-
4:57 - 4:59it's usually just a rush of emotions.

5:00 - 5:03But right before that we do our pre-show shot,
-
5:03 - 5:04to kill the hyper-awareness.
-
5:04 - 5:07We had done a whiskey shot, and it just all made us grumpy.
-
5:07 - 5:09So, we realized whiskey wasn't the,
-
5:09 - 5:10no brown liquor before the show.
-
5:10 - 5:11So we do one shot of tequila
-
5:12 - 5:13and then right after we come off,
-
5:14 - 5:17my favorite way to come off the stage is an Elvis exit
-
5:17 - 5:19which means you just go from stage, right into a van,
-
5:19 - 5:22right to the hotel, into a shower, and pass out.

5:22 - 5:23That's the best.
-
5:23 - 5:25(laughing)

5:25 - 5:28Dude it's just a show for me, I don't have to do anything.

5:28 - 5:29"Was there an audition process for Kinky Boots?
-
5:29 - 5:31"And if so, what was it like?"
-
5:33 - 5:33Not really.
-
5:35 - 5:36Which, I was nervous for.
-
5:36 - 5:38I was flattered that they would give me the part
-
5:38 - 5:39but I was very nervous for it.
-
5:40 - 5:44Basically I had D. B. Bonds, who flew out to LA
-
5:44 - 5:46he's the associate director for Kinky Boots.
-
5:46 - 5:48He flew out for two days, we did an hour each day
-
5:48 - 5:50of just reading through the script,
-
5:50 - 5:52talking about motivations, that was pretty much it.
-
5:52 - 5:54Then we had about a week of rehearsal,
-
5:54 - 5:56teaching me the dance moves, putting my heels on,
-
5:57 - 5:58and then it was showtime.
-
5:58 - 6:01And my put-in rehearsal I dropped a glass on stage
-
6:01 - 6:03and it shattered, and my heart shattered.
-
6:03 - 6:04I was just like,
-
6:04 - 6:06(gasping) "Hopefully that was the worst of it."
-
6:06 - 6:08No, I would continue to fuck up, every night.
-
6:08 - 6:09But it was fun, it was fun.
-
6:09 - 6:13"What is the most memorable, weird, thoughtful, et cetera,

6:13 - 6:14"gift you have received from a fan?"

6:14 - 6:15Weird or thoughtful?

6:15 - 6:17I got a voodoo doll,

6:17 - 6:19which usually you would keep the voodoo doll,

6:19 - 6:21but they gave it to me, of myself.

7:21 - 7:23I just thought that tied in everything actually,

7:24 - 7:26"What was your first impression of Pete Wentz?

7:26 - 7:27"Did you think you guys would have

7:27 - 7:29"the relationship that you have now?"

7:29 - 7:30No, not at all.

7:30 - 7:31Pete was very cool,

7:31 - 7:34he was in LA making his record with Fall Out Boy

7:35 - 7:37and I remember walking up and being like,

7:43 - 7:45and played some stuff, oh that was a puppy fart.

7:49 - 7:52I didn't know what was gonna come of meeting Pete

7:58 - 7:59"between a Panic! At The Disco concert

7:59 - 8:01"and appearing as Charlie Price in Kinky Boots on Broadway?"

8:01 - 8:02Very different.

8:02 - 8:04I'll say the biggest difference

8:05 - 8:09is that with a Panic! show, luckily the fans, you guys,

8:09 - 8:12are louder than me sometimes and you save me in moments
-
8:12 - 8:15where I might forget a lyric or a voice crack happens.

8:15 - 8:18But in Kinky Boots, you're up there and spotlight's on you
-
8:18 - 8:21and if you mess up, everybody hears it.
-
8:21 - 8:24You're under a microscope and that was very exciting.
-
8:24 - 8:25"Coming from a person who deals with anxiety
-
8:25 - 8:27"and wants to become a performer one day,
-
8:27 - 8:28"how do you cope with anxiety on stage
-
8:28 - 8:30"or even during the whole touring process?"
-
8:30 - 8:31Very good question.

8:31 - 8:33I used to take medication, then I stopped taking it.

8:34 - 8:37I just came to a realization that I didn't wanna go there.

8:38 - 8:40So then I adopted the art of breathing.

8:40 - 8:42Breathing exercises, that really ended up helping me
-
8:42 - 8:44a lot more than I thought it would.
-
8:44 - 8:47Which is pretty great, so, thanks for that question.

8:47 - 8:49I know performing can be very anxiety-driven,
-
8:49 - 8:50so, I believe in you.

8:51 - 8:54"What is your plan for the future of Panic! At The Disco

8:54 - 8:55"after this album?"
-
8:55 - 8:56I don't know.

8:59 - 9:01I've talked about, like, doing weird stuff.

9:01 - 9:02Like after the Broadway thing,

9:02 - 9:05building a show like that, taking it on the road,
-
9:05 - 9:06not necessarily with an album
-
9:06 - 9:08but just kinda building the idea of a show.

9:08 - 9:10It wouldn't just be an album, I don't know.

9:10 - 9:12There's something there.

9:12 - 9:13There's definitely something in there.
