-
So these teachings are coming from
-
a very ancient tradition,
-
the Bon tradition, which is the oldest spiritual tradition of Tibet.
-
and these are very profound, they are coming from
-
a very specific source called the Mother Tantra
-
in Tibetan, we call Ma Jup
-
So in these teachings there are two specific practices,
-
one is nine breathing of purification,
-
the other one is the five exercises of Tsa Lung.
-
So the nine breathing of purification has so much to do with
-
clearing the 3 channels, the 3 core channels in the center of our body,
-
and what it does is basically
-
it clears the poisons in our system.
-
We call it three root poisons:
-
ignorance, attachment and anger. So we believe that
-
every human conflicts,
-
pain, sickness comes
-
down to these three root poisons. So these
-
nine breathing of purification practice is very much about
-
how to open these channels and how to
-
clear these root poisons.
-
and the second part is the five Tsa Lung exercise.
-
There are five particular movements.
-
These five particular movements are associated with the five elements.
-
So this is also associated with the five chakras,
-
or energy centers in our body. If there are blockages
-
in these energy centers and chakras, they don't flow well,
-
so if these winds don't flow well,
-
then all the psychological states
-
like joy, love, compassion; they don't flow
-
because the one wind which brings up, it is blocked.
-
So these exercises clearly helps to unblock those chakras,
-
enhances those winds,
-
and then gives birth to all the qualities of the mind.
-
So the benefit of these practices on a physical level,
-
I believe that it has a benefit to the health of the brain,
-
I believe it has an enormous benefit of the heart health,
-
because it is like working on the arteries and opening up the channels,
-
and it maintains the channels open. It also helps
-
digestive system for people who have problems with digestion.
-
It definitely helps the amount, how long people sleep,
-
the quality of the sleep, the restlessness in the sleep.
-
It is scientifically proven.
-
And overall it helps the nourishment of the body because all the energies
-
and the winds are flowing properly.
-
I want to say that people who practice this,
-
unless they really know what yoga exercise practice is,
-
the breathing practice is, I would strongly recommend
-
to have somebody guide them through these practices
-
the first time, until they become familiar with them.
-
Like any other exercise, like if you go in a gym, there is always
-
in any machine would have some risk, but if you know
-
what you are doing, then you are OK.
-
As these practices have helped me so much in my own life,
-
and also I have witnessed many times when I teach around the world,
-
these practices have transformed many peoples life's,
-
and my wish and prayer is that these practices help so many other
-
more people when they come to these practices.
-
Thank you.
