Well, I'm Owen Williams, I'm sixteen and
I'm from the Isle of Man

and I was born and raised on the Island;
I've never lived anywhere else in the world

so naturally I'm very fond of the Island

and we have our own national language here;
it's called Manx or Manx Gaelic

and it's a Gaelic language so subsequently
it's very similar to Scottish and Irish Gaelic

and because it's also Celtic, sometimes some words sound
a little like words in Welsh, Cornish and Breton

I learned the majoirty of my Manx from my mother and
conversations and stuff like that

and when I was a young kid, I went to a Gaelic playschool
called "Mooinjey Veggey"

and I don't remember it too well, although as far as
I remember English wasn't spoken; only Manx I heard I think

There are a few native speakers and a Gaelschool
on the Island,

there are plenty of kids learning the language in schools;
it's going well; you can do qualifications in the language in addition

lessons going on for adults also, like I mentioned
