    Part 3
    Spiricom
A communication radio for contacting The Other Side
  • 0:28 - 0:41
This is where we leave Lizz Werneroth and Ebbe Johansson in their studio at Lizz's home in Vemmenhög, Skåne, Sweden and travel all the way to the USA.
  • 0:41 - 0:50
Where radio technician William O'Neil and engineer George Meek, after many years of experiments and research,
  • 0:50 - 0:57
have succeded to construct a communication radio for contacting the dead - Spiricom.
  • 0:57 - 1:03
They had the help of the deceased engingeer and physicist - Dr. George Jeffries Mueller.
  • 1:03 - 1:08
This is how he looked like.
  • 1:08 - 1:20
Under a period of several years William, telepathically received instructions from the deceased Dr. Mueller.
  • 1:20 - 1:25
In 1980 they finally manage to make contact through Spiricom Mark 4.
  • 1:27 - 1:44
Dr. Mueller:"William... William... William... William... William... William.
  • 1:44 - 1:52
    "Are you there William?"
  • 1:52 - 1:57
William: I'm coming doctor, I'm coming! Oh boy!
  • 1:57 - 2:02
    I'm sorry doctor, I'm sorry.
  • 2:02 - 2:07
Oh... Oh boy! I just went down stairs for a cup of coffee. I'm sorry doctor!
  • 2:07 - 2:11
Dr. Mueller: That's all right, William.
  • 2:11 - 2:14
The contact trough Spiricom were very sporadic.
  • 2:14 - 2:19
Dr. Mueller indicate that our concept of time not exists on The Other Side.
  • 2:19 - 2:25
Sometimes there could be weeks between the contacts, sometimes just a few hours.
  • 2:25 - 2:27
Dr. Mueller: What did you say, William?
  • 2:27 - 2:35
William: I said I'm sorry doctor, but... Oh boy... It's almost 4 o'clock in the morning and
  • 2:35 - 2:42
The last time we talked was, what about a quarter after two...
I just forget what time it is.
  • 2:42 - 2:47
Dr. Mueller: Oh there we go with the time again... William you know better than that.
  • 2:47 - 2:48
    William: What's that, sir?
  • 2:48 - 2:52
Dr. Mueller: You know better than that. I'm not aware of the time over here.
  • 2:52 - 2:56
William: No, I know that's what you said, sir.
  • 2:56 - 3:01
Dr. Mueller: I'm not joking William. I'm not joking. Now listen William. Please listen very carefully!
  • 3:01 - 3:02
    Willliam: Yes?
  • 3:02 - 3:07
Dr. Mueller: Please adjust that frequency, William!
  • 3:07 - 3:10
William: All right, sir! Oh boy!
  • 3:11 - 3:21
Spiricom Mark 4 consists of a signal generator ie. a weak radio transmitter set to 29,5 MHz, with an antenna
  • 3:21 - 3:28
It's amplitude modulated with a tone mix of thirteen different tones according to Dr. Mueller's directives.
  • 3:28 - 3:37
Two meters apart from the transmitter there is a receiver set to the same frequency as the transmitter.
  • 3:37 - 3:45
Dr. Mueller says that when he wants contact he stands in front of the Spiricom and talks just like he did when he was alive.
  • 3:45 - 3:57
The tone mix is affected by the thirteen different tones of the modulation which gives the characteristic Spiricom sound.
  • 3:57 - 4:08
Dr. Mueller says that he can see and hear everything that happens in the room while talking to William.
  • 4:08 - 4:18
In the following conversation Dr. Mueller and William are discussing some technical details of their next project - Videocom.
  • 4:18 - 4:22
They will try to get in contact by using a TV screen.
  • 4:22 - 4:29
During the conversation, another person from The Other Side joins them - Nathaniel.
  • 4:29 - 4:31
    William: What's that again?
  • 4:31 - 4:37
Dr. Mueller: We have to rearange the television set with a metal...
  • 4:37 - 4:42
Do not take out the core... magnetic...
  • 4:42 - 4:46
... receive from the signal generator that we were talking about...
  • 4:46 - 4:52
with the remaining camera from the television system.
    Do you understand, William?
  • 4:52 - 4:55
    Yeah, I'll think this ...
  • 4:55 - 4:59
Dr. Mueller: Oh, by the way, William, did you get that... for the crystal?
  • 4:59 - 5:05
William: No I didn't, doctor. I got that fire sachet at Edmund's.
  • 5:05 - 5:07
Dr. Mueller: Edmund's, The Edmund's? How are the Edmund's?
  • 5:07 - 5:10
    William: Edmund's is a company, Edmund's Scientific.
  • 5:10 - 5:14
Dr. Mueller: Oh, I understand. And what were the results?
  • 5:14 - 5:23
William: Well I inserted it in the lens of the camera but all I got was a lot of crazy color and lights, but I didn't any imagery.
  • 5:23 - 5:31
Dr. Mueller: Oh, I see. Well William... Well I think that if we follow this other procedure, William...
  • 5:31 - 5:40
I'm not absolutely sure, but I have a feeling that this really help clarify the image so that we can see the certain features of the subject.
  • 5:40 - 5:46
Now we have the form, we have the face, we have... we know... We know... the human form.
  • 5:46 - 5:55
However we must be able to... the facial features ...identify the subject.
  • 5:55 - 6:01
I don't know who... Just a minute William. What's that?
  • 6:01 - 6:03
    William: What's that doctor?
  • 6:03 - 6:07
Dr. Mueller: No, no, William, I'm... Somebody is talking to you .
  • 6:10 - 6:15
Dr. Mueller: Nathaniel? There's a fellow here, William. He says his name is Nathaniel.
  • 6:15 - 6:19
He says he knows you and you know him.
  • 6:19 - 6:25
William: Nathaniel? I don't know anybody by the name of Nathaniel.
  • 6:25 - 6:29
Dr. Mueller: He says he knows you.
  • 6:31 - 6:34
William: I don't recall knowing anybody.
  • 6:35 - 6:41
Eventually, William recalls Nathaniel but is not able to get in medial contact with him.
  • 6:41 - 6:47
By having Dr. Mueller as inter-mediator William and Nathaniel were able to speak through the Spiricom about
  • 6:47 - 6:55
childhood memories and pranks they they had done together for more than 50 years ago.
  • 6:55 - 7:02
In the next conversation William and Dr. Mueller talk about more mundane things, like carrots and sauerkraut.
  • 7:02 - 7:06
William: Yeah, I just turned on the tape recorder, doctor.
  • 7:06 - 7:08
Dr. Mueller: Oh, very well William.
  • 7:08 - 7:13
William: You said to hurry back and I did. That has been exactly one week ago.
  • 7:13 - 7:15
    Dr. Mueller: Ho, ho, ho.
  • 7:15 - 7:18
William: Yes, ho, ho, ho yourself.
  • 7:21 - 7:28
William: The cold weather has left us, temporarily.
Anyway, it's raining and it's nice and warm.
  • 7:28 - 7:31
Of course, you never know what to expect.
  • 7:31 - 7:34
I'm gonna try to put in a little garden this year.
  • 7:34 - 7:38
Dr. Mueller: Oh, wonderful! Send me a couple of carrots.
  • 7:38 - 7:40
    William: What's that again?
  • 7:40 - 7:43
Dr. Mueller: I said you have to send me a couple of carrots.
  • 7:43 - 7:45
    William: A couple of what?
  • 7:45 - 7:46
Dr. Mueller: A couple of carrots.
  • 7:46 - 7:47
    William: Oh, carrots
  • 7:47 - 7:51
Dr. Mueller: Yes, William. Also a nice head of lettuce
  • 7:51 - 7:57
William: A nice head of lettuce? I'm not gonna plant acres, doctor.
  • 7:57 - 8:02
What's that? I think you were talking at the same time I was.
  • 8:02 - 8:09
Dr. Mueller: Perhaps I said... some cabbage. I like fried cabbage. Oh, I love fried cabbage.
  • 8:09 - 8:14
William: Fried cabbage. Well, I like sauerkraut.
  • 8:14 - 8:17
Dr. Mueller: O'boy, do you know what sauerkraut will do?
  • 8:17 - 8:21
    William: Yes, I do.
  • 8:21 - 8:30
You know, doctor. I never thought I'd see the day when I could... he, he... O'boy...
  • 8:30 - 8:35
Talk to someone like you in the way we are doing.
  • 8:35 - 8:43
And lets say ten years ago, if someone told me this was possible,
I would recommend that they be send to funny farm.
  • 8:43 - 8:47
Dr. Mueller: Well, perhaps you are right.
  • 8:50 - 8:57
Who was this Dr. Mueller, who exudes such strength and character, but also a sense of humor?
  • 8:57 - 9:03
Well, he was an electrical engineer and physicist and associate professor of engineering science and mathematics
  • 9:03 - 9:08
at Orange Cost College in California, the last three years of his life.
  • 9:08 - 9:12
This photo is from that time.
  • 9:12 - 9:20
To prove that he was Dr. Mueller he told William and Meek about the social security number he had when he was alive.
  • 9:20 - 9:23
He also told them where to find his death certificate,
  • 9:23 - 9:28
information about his school days, his employments and about a book he wrote.
  • 9:28 - 9:34
He also asked William and Meek to call different telephone numbers.
  • 9:34 - 9:44
After some research, his data was verified, sometimes with astonishing results.
  • 9:44 - 9:50
After a few years the contacts with Dr. Mueller ceased to occur and the Spiricom went silent.
  • 9:50 - 9:57
It remained quiet even though the researchers made great efforts to develop it further.
  • 9:57 - 10:01
As we shall see, Dr. Mueller will return.
  • 10:01 - 10:11
But this time, in the spring of 1991, he unexpectedly appears on the TV screen of some border scientists in Germany.
  • 10:11 - 10:16
Before we head back to Europe again, and the scientists there
  • 10:16 - 10:22
we will listen to one of the last conversations with Dr. Mueller via the Spiricom.
  • 10:23 - 10:24
    Dr. Mueller: William?
  • 10:24 - 10:26
    William: Yes, sir?
  • 10:26 - 10:31
Dr. Mueller: Did you make that telephone call yet?
  • 10:31 - 10:33
    William: No, sir.
  • 10:33 - 10:38
Dr. Mueller: Well, I insists that you do, William. Now you must understand one thing, William.
  • 10:38 - 10:40
    William: Yes, sir?
  • 10:40 - 10:50
Dr. Mueller: I will not be here forever. I can not guaranty how long I can be right here.
  • 10:50 - 10:54
However, I will always do my best. Do you understand, William?
  • 10:54 - 10:56
    William:Yes, sir.
  • 10:56 - 11:01
Dr. Mueller: There's a time and a place for everything.
  • 11:01 - 11:09
So, as I have mentioned before, this is something I think you should be aware of.
  • 11:13 - 11:20
    In the next episode
