The hitters DO NOT talk about the raise, they SOLVE it!

Several times (and this is a problem I still need to sort out, somehow, in my current team), the striker smashes out because the ball was not properly set up by the setter

and so what does he say, that he wants the ball higher and closer to the net.

So the setter looks back to the receivers and tells them: “guys, I want the ball here ,

because if you don’t receive properly, giving me the ball here,

I have to run to reach the ball and I’m not able to properly set it for the smash

so he smashes out of the court because I can’t set it up as he would like, but I’m not able to do it because you do not properly receive”

At that stage the receivers look back to find somebody who blame for it

but these guys receive an opponent smash, so they cannot tell to the opponents: “please smash softly so I can properly receive and give the ball to the setter…” and then the chain ends up

To avoid all these discussions, I put a very simple golden rule in my team, which is “the striker doesn’t talk about the set…HE SOLVE IT” he doesn’t argue it, he solves it!

Now I have a new fight, the hitter don’t say anymore "I want the ball in that way" beacause I control them,

however they found a shortcut: anytime the set is properly done, they say “it’s PERFECT!”,

so they don’t explicitly say that the other sets were wrong, but if they say that this is PERFECT, they imply that the other it wasn’t…

so in the end they finish to talk about the set, and I get nervous, they keep going on talking about the set…they are expert about set…THEY KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT SET...

if you see them discussing at the bar, they speaks about setters; small problem, THEY STRIKE, they do not set

I want hitters that crusches good balls raised bad, I want this because these players will perfectly strike the properly set balls. I want this kind of players. SO DO NOT TALK ABOUT, LET’S SOLVE IT.

If in reality I [striker] do not get the ball as I would like, e.g. lower, my brain (that is an extraordinary computer) has to open all the files named “ball set lower” and in these files there are solutions to finalize low-set balls,

which for sure will be different from the solution to finalize PROPER-set balls

If, instead of doing so, when the ball arrives lower, the striker does not open any file but starts to think that this ball is not properly set

it’s clear the solution will be not found, because he’s wasting time, instead of solving the strike, thinking “this ball is a bit low-set, in my opinion”
