-
As a young man in Thailand, being an environmental activist,
-
what was your energy that you were acting from?
-
Anger.
-
Back then, I acted out of anger and and compassion.
-
I had a lot of compassion for the victims,
-
but I also had a lot of anger towards the perpetrators, the polluters.
-
I do not understand deeply.
-
And with that action that is based on anger,
-
it may lead to some
-
short term success.
-
But in the long run, it's not long lasting
-
and can lead to more troubles,
-
if it's not done out of understanding.
-
But with Thầy's teachings, I learn to to look at things more deeply,
-
to try to understand not only the victims, but the perpetrators, what conditions they were under.
-
What kind of background, why they did what they did.
-
And with that, instead of acting out of anger,
-
you act out of understanding,
-
you act out of compassion.
-
And with that kind of energy, it's easier to to communicate,
-
to understand them, and they understand us.
-
And I think it's more...
-
It's more peaceful
-
and it can lead to a more long lasting solution.
