1 lesson - Come out of the the box - The Pioneer School

  • 0:00 - 0:03
    Welcome to this first teaching
    on our Pioneer School.
  • 0:03 - 0:06
Today I am going to take you through
    some church history.
  • 0:06 - 0:09
And I’m going to show you that much
of what we are doing today is
  • 0:09 - 0:15
not built on the word of God, but instead
built on 'our' foundation that got laid
  • 0:15 - 0:18
many years ago by the Catholic church.
  • 0:18 - 0:21
And because we are still building
    on the same foundation
  • 0:21 - 0:26
every church somehow looks the same and
we are not effective in making disciples
  • 0:26 - 0:28
the way Jesus commanded us to.
  • 0:29 - 0:33
And when we start to see that and
change our way of doing it
  • 0:33 - 0:36
we are going to be so much more
    effective in making disciples.
  • 0:36 - 0:41
And we are going to break out of some of
    the traditions and come into
  • 0:41 - 0:44
    the normal Christian life.
  • 0:44 - 0:48
The normal Christian life is what we read
here in the book of Acts.
  • 0:48 - 0:50
    Revival Christianity as we
    read it in Bible.
  • 0:50 - 0:53
What we see behind us is not the
    normal Christian life.
  • 0:53 - 0:57
The Bible, the book of Acts, is the
    normal Christian life.
  • 0:57 - 1:01
And during this teaching I’m going to
help you to see that and to take
  • 1:01 - 1:06
the first step into the freedom,
into the life that God has for you.
  • 1:06 - 1:08
    The life we read about
    in the book of Acts.
  • 1:08 - 1:11
    So welcome
    to this first teaching.
  • 1:11 - 1:14
    The Last Reformation
  • 1:17 - 1:20
    THE BOOK OF ACTS
  • 1:24 - 1:26
20 lessons that make a DIFFERENCE
  • 1:29 - 1:32
    A NEW BEGINNING
  • 1:37 - 1:39
    IN YOUR LIFE
  • 1:42 - 1:43
    IN
  • 1:44 - 1:44
    YOUR
  • 1:45 - 1:46
    LIFE
  • 1:50 - 1:53
    Welcome to the Pioneer school
  • 1:54 - 1:59
Welcome to this Pioneer school my name is
Torben Sondergaard and I’m from Denmark.
  • 1:59 - 2:02
And it's a great honour for me
    to welcome you.
  • 2:02 - 2:06
I believe that this teaching is going
    to change your life.
  • 2:06 - 2:10
Many of you have seen my
    YouTube channel or my website
  • 2:10 - 2:11
    TheLastReformation.com
  • 2:11 - 2:15
And have heard some of the testimonies
    of what God is doing.
  • 2:15 - 2:21
And I believe that this teaching is also
going to help you to come into this life.
  • 2:21 - 2:25
The life we are all longing for, the life
we read about in the book of Acts.
  • 2:25 - 2:30
And I can say right now, I think this is so
    amazing what God is doing
  • 2:30 - 2:35
because right now I hear testimonies
every day from people whose lives
  • 2:35 - 2:39
have gotten changed through this teaching.
    People who have gotten changed
  • 2:39 - 2:42
by the way we make disciples.
  • 2:42 - 2:48
I can say from the beginning that
my heart is to train and equip people.
  • 2:48 - 2:53
I believe if we somehow change the way we are
working, change the way we are teaching,
  • 2:53 - 2:58
change the way we are preaching the
gospel, change the way we are making disciples.
  • 2:58 - 3:07
I belive we can see amazing things happen.
And it doesn’t have to take a long time.
  • 3:07 - 3:13
Just some days ago there was someone
who saw my video from Holland.
  • 3:13 - 3:17
And they chose to come to Denmark
    to have a vacation here
  • 3:17 - 3:22
and at the same time to meet me
and to go with me out on the street.
  • 3:22 - 3:27
This was a couple that has four kids
and they came with the kids.
  • 3:27 - 3:33
We talked a little and then we went down
to the city where I'm living and they wanted
  • 3:33 - 3:36
to learn to heal the sick, and they
    wanted to experience that.
  • 3:36 - 3:38
    None of them.
  • 3:38 - 3:42
They had never prayed for people on
the street before that had gotten healed.
  • 3:42 - 3:49
And what I did was very simple, you find
it in the word of God. Jesus said:
  • 3:49 - 3:53
"Come and follow me", and people followed
    Jesus at that time
  • 3:53 - 3:57
    and Jesus touched the people.
  • 3:57 - 4:01
Not by making a Bible school
    but in everyday life.
  • 4:01 - 4:04
And it is what I did some days ago.
  • 4:04 - 4:09
I said "Come and follow me" and we went
    down in the city.
  • 4:09 - 4:16
And it took about 20 minutes for her to
pray for the first person who got healed.
  • 4:16 - 4:20
20 minutes later her husband had prayed
for the first one who got healed.
  • 4:20 - 4:25
And it was so amazing because some of the
people they prayed for were from Iceland.
  • 4:25 - 4:29
They were part of a football team
    playing in Denmark
  • 4:29 - 4:32
and some of those people got healed.
  • 4:32 - 4:37
So later they came to us with the whole
team and suddenly there were 40 people
  • 4:37 - 4:43
standing behind us who got prayed for.
I said to the new people from Holland:
  • 4:43 - 4:50
"You just pray, you just do it."
And after 20 to 40 minutes they were
  • 4:50 - 4:55
standing praying for a group of people of
    whom many people got healed.
  • 4:55 - 5:01
And I believe in that hour there were
    30 people who got healed.
  • 5:01 - 5:06
And one of the last two people we
prayed for had a migraine headache
  • 5:06 - 5:08
for two years and was healed.
  • 5:08 - 5:14
With the other one, it had been four
years since a car accident and there was
  • 5:14 - 5:19
a bone in her body that went out of place.
  • 5:19 - 5:22
She had a problem in her back
for four years and when she
  • 5:22 - 5:27
pushed the bone around in her back
she could feel that bone in her body
  • 5:27 - 5:31
    didn’t belong there. Something
    was totally wrong.
  • 5:31 - 5:36
The woman from Holland, I just told her
like the other one: "Just pray"
  • 5:36 - 5:41
She laid her hands and prayed.
And this bone went back into the body
  • 5:41 - 5:45
and she could not feel it any more
    and every pain was gone.
  • 5:45 - 5:50
We experienced this in only one hour.
  • 5:50 - 5:55
40 minutes, it took for both of them
to learn to heal the sick.
  • 5:55 - 5:58
And they went back to Holland
and they are doing the same there.
  • 5:58 - 6:03
It is not about me it is about
the Holy Spirit inside of us.
  • 6:03 - 6:09
This is just one example of how you can
take people and make them disciples in a
  • 6:09 - 6:13
different way than what we are used
to by sitting in a church
  • 6:13 - 6:18
or going to a Bible school.
This is also a kind of Bible school,
  • 6:18 - 6:20
an on-line Bible school, but it is
    very different and you are
  • 6:20 - 6:23
    going to see later.
  • 6:23 - 6:26
This is not putting a lot of theology
into your head. It is very practical
  • 6:26 - 6:33
the teaching I’m going to give to you.
Because like the couple from Holland,
  • 6:33 - 6:41
we saw their lives change and taught them
to come into this new life in 40 minutes.
  • 6:41 - 6:46
How many people are in the churches
    in the world today
  • 6:46 - 6:52
who have been sitting ten years, fifteen
    years, twenty years and longing
  • 6:52 - 6:54
    for something like this?
  • 6:54 - 6:58
But they have not done it and they
    still sit there and think.
  • 6:58 - 7:02
They just sit and listen and think
some day it is going to happen.
  • 7:02 - 7:07
To be honest, it is not going to happen
if we just do what we have always done.
  • 7:07 - 7:12
No, we have to dare to stop up and ask
    ourselves what we are doing.
  • 7:12 - 7:14
Is it the word of God?
  • 7:14 - 7:16
    Do we really create disciples?
  • 7:16 - 7:21
I believe the revival we are standing in
front of, is the last reformation.
  • 7:21 - 7:24
It is a reformation about creating
    disciples.
  • 7:25 - 7:32
Because if we again use the tools
God has given us to make disciples like
  • 7:32 - 7:34
Jesus has called us to do.
  • 7:34 - 7:37
And do it the way He
    commanded us to do it.
  • 7:37 - 7:43
We can see so much happen and
I have many testimonies of people
  • 7:43 - 7:47
who have been sitting in church,
    maybe their whole lives.
  • 7:47 - 7:53
Or for 20 or 40 years who have
    never led anybody to Christ,
  • 7:53 - 7:55
    have never healed the sick,
have never cast out a demon,
  • 7:55 - 8:01
    have never experienced the supernatural
    life and don't have testimonies
  • 8:01 - 8:04
like we read about in the book of Acts.
  • 8:04 - 8:09
But just by working with them for one
or two hours, maybe one day
  • 8:09 - 8:15
their life will change and after that
they will continue living this new life.
  • 8:15 - 8:20
Before, their life didn’t look like what
we read in the book of Acts.
  • 8:20 - 8:26
But after just a few hours their lives
began to look like what we read
  • 8:26 - 8:30
in the book of Acts. I’m going to tell
a lot of testimonies like that later
  • 8:30 - 8:32
    during this Bible school.
  • 8:32 - 8:36
And if you are longing to be used by God,
  • 8:36 - 8:42
if you are longing to experience
    how God is using you.
  • 8:42 - 8:44
Then you have come to the right place.
  • 8:44 - 8:49
If you just want theology and
just want to discuss things then
  • 8:49 - 8:51
this is not the Bible school for you.
  • 8:51 - 8:58
Because we have to know that it’s not
    only about the right theology.
  • 8:58 - 8:59
You are going to see that here.
  • 8:59 - 9:04
It is really about doing things in
a simple way, the way Jesus did.
  • 9:04 - 9:11
And it’s about opening our eyes and
taking off our religious glasses and
  • 9:11 - 9:14
    start from the beginning.
  • 9:14 - 9:16
What I am going to do this first
    lesson is:
  • 9:16 - 9:19
I am going to take you through some
    church history.
  • 9:19 - 9:23
    Many things in church history
are not exciting but this is
  • 9:23 - 9:31
exciting because this is going to show
you why things are the way they are today.
  • 9:31 - 9:35
And how the churches are in the world
today. It is going to help you to break
  • 9:35 - 9:41
out of those traditions and come into the
life you are longing for that we
  • 9:41 - 9:43
read in the book of Acts.
  • 9:43 - 9:47
I first want to say that here I have
    the Bible.
  • 9:47 - 9:56
If I want to see how a Christian is going
to live and what is a normal Christian life.
  • 9:56 - 10:01
Where do I have to look for that? Do I
have to look in the Old Testament?
  • 10:01 - 10:07
No, because in the Old Testament you don't
find a Christian disciple of Jesus like
  • 10:07 - 10:14
you and me. Because The Old Testament was
before Jesus, it was the old Covenant and
  • 10:14 - 10:19
    things there were very different
    than they are today.
  • 10:19 - 10:21
But many churches and many Christians
  • 10:21 - 10:26
today still live in The Old Testament
and in The Old Testament mind-set.
  • 10:26 - 10:32
But it is not in the Old Testament that
we find what a disciple is.
  • 10:32 - 10:34
Where then do I find it?
  • 10:34 - 10:39
Is it in the four gospels? No, no
it’s not in the four gospels.
  • 10:39 - 10:45
The four gospels are of course,
Jesus Words, where you see what
  • 10:45 - 10:49
Jesus called us to do. And how he sent
His disciples, how Jesus was living and
  • 10:49 - 10:52
working and how he died on the cross
    and rose again.
  • 10:52 - 10:58
But in the four gospels you don’t see any
disciples like you and me, why?
  • 10:58 - 11:02
Because nobody in the gospels was
    baptized into Jesus Christ
  • 11:02 - 11:07
the way we are baptized today.
Nobody received the Holy Spirit the
  • 11:07 - 11:13
way we are today, because the Holy Spirit
was not poured out in the four gospels.
  • 11:13 - 11:16
Jesus had not died and had
    not risen again.
  • 11:16 - 11:20
    The four gospels are still
    the Old Covenant.
  • 11:20 - 11:26
And many Christians today also live
in the four gospels and don’t understand
  • 11:26 - 11:30
that we should not live there.
We should live like what we read
  • 11:30 - 11:33
in the book of Acts, the next book in
the Bible. Because in the book of Acts
  • 11:33 - 11:37
we read about how the Holy Spirit got
    poured out over people and
  • 11:37 - 11:42
shows how they started to live.
What do you read in the book of Acts?
  • 11:42 - 11:47
You read about a people who loved God,
who loved Jesus, who were willing
  • 11:47 - 11:51
to take up the cross and follow Him and
    many died as martyrs.
  • 11:51 - 11:55
You also read about how the Holy Spirit
    was working in them.
  • 11:55 - 12:02
How the Holy Spirit was leading them,
how God used them to build His church.
  • 12:02 - 12:05
It was like the Holy Spirit working
through the whole book of Acts
  • 12:05 - 12:11
where you see how the Holy Spirit
led them by dreams, how He spoke to them
  • 12:11 - 12:16
and how they spoke and how they healed
the sick and cast out demons.
  • 12:16 - 12:20
This is what we read in the book of Acts.
  • 12:20 - 12:25
The book of Acts is the normal
    Christian life.
  • 12:25 - 12:32
If you are coming from a church setting
where you sit in your church and look
  • 12:32 - 12:38
around, and what you see is so different
from what you read in the book of Acts.
  • 12:38 - 12:46
I want to say to you that what you see
around you is not the normal Christian life.
  • 12:46 - 12:48
This is not how it should be.
  • 12:48 - 12:52
It should be like what we read there
    in the book of Acts.
  • 12:52 - 12:55
If you are sitting in one denomination,
in one church and you look around
  • 12:55 - 13:00
you get one picture of what it is
    to be a Christian.
  • 13:00 - 13:03
But if you are in another church,
    in another denomination,
  • 13:03 - 13:07
then you get different picture of what it
    is to be a Christian.
  • 13:07 - 13:13
But we should stop and take the Word
    alone, the book of Acts.
  • 13:13 - 13:18
Especially when it comes to what it is to
be a disciple and how we should live.
  • 13:18 - 13:26
This is the same today. Because everybody
believes that Jesus is the same yesterday,
  • 13:26 - 13:31
today and forever. He has not changed. We
believe that when it comes to salvation.
  • 13:31 - 13:35
And we believe that when it comes
to a lot of other things.
  • 13:35 - 13:40
But what about the life? What about
the Holy Spirit? What about the miracles?
  • 13:40 - 13:45
If He has not changed, then what we read
about in the book of Acts is the same today.
  • 13:45 - 13:48
Because if He has not changed then the
    Holy Spirit has not changed.
  • 13:48 - 13:51
The book of Acts is not so much
    about the apostles.
  • 13:51 - 13:55
You are going to see later, that the
book of Acts is about the Holy Spirit
  • 13:55 - 14:01
in the first disciples and how they
were living. He has not changed.
  • 14:01 - 14:06
The Holy Spirit has not changed so our
lives today should look like the
  • 14:06 - 14:12
book of Acts. When I started to see that,
some of the things I am going to share
  • 14:12 - 14:19
with you in this Bible school, I myself
started to break out of my normal life at
  • 14:19 - 14:21
    that time.
  • 14:21 - 14:26
I took one step, then one more step
and suddenly I started to see more and
  • 14:26 - 14:34
more life like we read there. I have many
amazing testimonies about how God has led
  • 14:34 - 14:41
me with dreams and has been speaking to
me by the Holy Spirit; guiding me.
  • 14:41 - 14:45
I’ve seen many people saved and filled
    with the Holy Spirit.
  • 14:45 - 14:48
I prayed for them and suddenly the
    Spirit came upon them.
  • 14:48 - 14:52
People starting to speak in tongues
and people were set free from demons.
  • 14:52 - 15:00
This is starting to be a normal
life for me and many of you heard
  • 15:00 - 15:06
about this life. But often we hear
about it in China or Africa and in
  • 15:06 - 15:09
other countries, but what about the west?
  • 15:09 - 15:12
    I am living in Denmark,
    it’s a western country.
  • 15:12 - 15:18
And Jesus is the same here in the west,
like we read about in the book of Acts.
  • 15:18 - 15:22
The stories we hear about in China we
    can see here, why?
  • 15:22 - 15:24
Because Jesus is just the same.
  • 15:24 - 15:29
I hope you are ready to receive
this teaching because it is going
  • 15:29 - 15:30
    to provoke you.
  • 15:30 - 15:34
I want to say from the beginning, God
has given me a gift and my gift is to
  • 15:34 - 15:40
provoke people. Now that I have said it
I am allowed to use my gift.
  • 15:40 - 15:41
    I want to provoke you.
  • 15:41 - 15:46
I want to say something and show you
something you have never heard before.
  • 15:46 - 15:54
When you hear it and it is new, just
stop and think and feel in your heart and
  • 15:54 - 15:58
look into the Word of God. Is what
    I am saying true?
  • 15:58 - 16:04
And you will be shocked because much
of what you have been doing until this day
  • 16:04 - 16:07
has not been the Word of God,
    it has been traditions.
  • 16:07 - 16:11
I am going to take you
    through some church history
  • 16:11 - 16:17
and show you what foundation we are
building on and it’s going to really be
  • 16:17 - 16:22
a great big help for you to break out
of this. It’s also going to be a teaching
  • 16:22 - 16:26
I’m going to come back to again and again
    during this Bible school.
  • 16:26 - 16:31
This teaching is going to help you to
    receive what Jesus is saying.
  • 16:33 - 16:35
    Are you ready for that?
  • 16:37 - 16:43
The book of Acts, revival Christianity,
as we read about in the Bible.
  • 16:43 - 16:47
    The book of Acts
    is the normal Christian life.
  • 16:48 - 16:52
It started with the Holy Spirit who was
    poured out on people
  • 16:52 - 16:54
and how the first disciples were living.
  • 16:54 - 16:58
I’m going to go through the book of
Acts during this Bible school and you are
  • 16:58 - 17:00
going to see a lot of things.
  • 17:01 - 17:05
The book of Acts was about a few
    people who changed the world
  • 17:05 - 17:10
in whom the Holy Spirit started
and it influenced the whole world.
  • 17:11 - 17:13
We had like a revival Christianity
    in the beginning.
  • 17:13 - 17:17
    Also a martyred Christianity.
Many people died for their faith.
  • 17:19 - 17:24
    Then something happened.
Around 300 AD there was an emperor
  • 17:24 - 17:29
    called Constantine who changed
a lot of things in Christianity.
  • 17:29 - 17:36
    Before him Christianity was
persecuted and many died, but the
  • 17:36 - 17:44
    emperor Constantine took Christianity in
and created a state religion out of it.
  • 17:44 - 17:52
    Many Christians believed that Constantine
was a Christian who did a good job in the
  • 17:52 - 17:56
church, but in reality he messed the
    church up for good.
  • 17:56 - 18:05
Because during his time he changed many
things we are still building on today.
  • 18:05 - 18:14
And out of Constantine we got
    the Catholic Church.
  • 18:14 - 18:18
But it had a price because
    many things changed.
  • 18:18 - 18:23
If I say to you now: "The Catholic
Church, what do people think of it?"
  • 18:23 - 18:27
    People think of a very,
    very big church building,
  • 18:27 - 18:33
people think of the pope, think of the
priest, think of mass and the church
  • 18:33 - 18:35
    the meetings on Sunday.
  • 18:35 - 18:40
They think of the whole setting
    around on the Catholic Church.
  • 18:42 - 18:45
    But where do you find
all this in the book of Acts?
  • 18:46 - 18:48
Where do you find the pope?
  • 18:48 - 18:51
Where do you find a priest,
    the way we see it?
  • 18:51 - 18:53
Where do you find the church meeting?
  • 18:54 - 19:00
Where do you find the church building?
Where do you find the meeting on a Sunday?
  • 19:00 - 19:08
You don’t find that in the book of Acts.
Jesus came to tear down the temple to
  • 19:08 - 19:13
build a new temple of living stones where
the Holy Spirit could dwell inside us.
  • 19:14 - 19:20
And Jesus came and said “You shall not
call anybody your father because only one
  • 19:20 - 19:22
is your Father, God who is in heaven.”
  • 19:22 - 19:28
Jesus came with many things but
    the Catholic Church changed them.
  • 19:28 - 19:33
We got the holy place, we got
the temple and we got the pope.
  • 19:33 - 19:40
The word pope comes out of the word
father, and there are many people around
  • 19:40 - 19:46
    the world today who say:
    "Oh, the pope, our father".
  • 19:46 - 19:48
But that was not what Jesus came with.
  • 19:49 - 19:56
I want to say that many things changed.
And if we look at the change,
  • 19:56 - 19:59
where did the changes come from?
  • 20:00 - 20:07
In the book of Acts there were the Jews,
the Jews have their holy day on Saturday.
  • 20:08 - 20:13
Jesus came, and for Him there
was not one day holier than another.
  • 20:13 - 20:17
Now there is a rest we can find in Jesus
Christ and there will be some teaching
  • 20:17 - 20:19
    on that, another time.
  • 20:20 - 20:27
Jesus came with something new but then
the Catholic Church came and they wanted
  • 20:27 - 20:33
to build a big religion out of it and
changed a lot of things Jesus had started.
  • 20:33 - 20:38
So they created a new holiday,
    Sunday. Why?
  • 20:38 - 20:44
Because Sunday was the day of the Sun.
    The Sun-god's day.
  • 20:44 - 20:53
Because Constantine was a high priest
in a sun-god cult and he continued being
  • 20:53 - 21:00
a high priest until the day he died.
So many things he did by worshipping
  • 21:00 - 21:09
the Sun-god. He took into this foundation.
Suddenly we got a Sunday, holy day. Why?
  • 21:09 - 21:14
    Because of Constantine and the
    worship of the sun god.
  • 21:14 - 21:21
He also built a temple and he turned
    the temple to the east.
  • 21:21 - 21:26
So when the priest who he has sat down,
he gets the sun on his head.
  • 21:26 - 21:30
That is why, at the same time,
he can somehow worship the Sun-god.
  • 21:31 - 21:35
And a lot of things changed in the
    Catholic Church of today
  • 21:37 - 21:42
compared to what we see there.
And that change had a price.
  • 21:42 - 21:49
I can say, in the book of Acts there is a
testimony where you see Peter and John,
  • 21:49 - 21:54
they were on the way to pray and there
was a lame man who was praying for alms.
  • 21:54 - 21:59
And they looked at the lame man and they
said, "Gold and silver we do not have,
  • 21:59 - 22:03
but what we have we give you,
in the name of Jesus rise up".
  • 22:03 - 22:10
They took the lame man and he got healed.
You see that all over the book of Acts.
  • 22:10 - 22:17
But during that period it changed. Can
a priest in the Catholic Church today say:
  • 22:17 - 22:21
"Gold and silver we do not have?"
No! Why? Because they have a lot
  • 22:21 - 22:26
of gold, they have a lot of silver.
Because now it is a big organization,
  • 22:26 - 22:29
a big machine, a big company.
  • 22:31 - 22:35
So they cannot say silver and gold we
do not have, but they also cannot say:
  • 22:35 - 22:42
In the name of Jesus stand up walk! Why?
Because the Holy Spirit wants to be free.
  • 22:42 - 22:48
God doesn’t want to be blessing or
    confirming our traditions.
  • 22:48 - 22:51
He wants to confirm and bless His Word.
  • 22:51 - 22:56
And when we started to change a lot
of things and make a religion out of it
  • 22:56 - 23:02
and to put God in a box, what happened
then? The Holy Spirit just went away.
  • 23:02 - 23:05
    And the power went away,
    the life went away.
  • 23:05 - 23:10
Why? Because we have built a foundation
that is not on the word of God.
  • 23:10 - 23:15
But when we come out of this system
and get changed we are going to see
  • 23:15 - 23:19
the same things again like we
read in the book of Acts.
  • 23:19 - 23:24
So many things got changed during that
    period with the Catholic Church.
  • 23:26 - 23:30
And then there was the dark ages.
  • 23:30 - 23:34
    Many years where nothing happened.
Of course there has always been revival
  • 23:34 - 23:36
    Christianity in different places.
  • 23:36 - 23:42
But in the big church we got the
Catholic Church and things died off.
  • 23:42 - 23:48
Many things during that period changed.
Then in 1500 there was a guy called Martin
  • 23:48 - 23:59
Luther in Germany. He came with his 95
Theses on the 31st of October 1517.
  • 23:59 - 24:07
He put the Ninety–Five Theses on the
church door and we saw the beginning
  • 24:07 - 24:11
of what we call the reformation--
    we got the Lutheran church.
  • 24:11 - 24:18
So we had the Catholic Church until the
1517, where the reformation started with
  • 24:18 - 24:22
Martin Luther. I have it here:
    "The Reformation."
  • 24:22 - 24:29
It was built on the truth:
    Justification by faith.
  • 24:29 - 24:34
So Martin Luther came with justification
by faith, something the Catholic Church
  • 24:34 - 24:43
also has lost. What you have to see
now is that it was amazing what Martin
  • 24:43 - 24:49
Luther did and what God called
him to do. To call it a reformation
  • 24:49 - 24:52
    is...somehow a good word.
  • 24:52 - 25:00
But at the same time he didn’t reform the
Catholic Church back to the book of Acts.
  • 25:00 - 25:06
Many things in the Lutheran church
today look like the Catholic Church.
  • 25:06 - 25:10
The whole system is still Sunday
meetings, it is still a priest
  • 25:10 - 25:18
who does the whole thing, it is still a
big church, it is still communion,
  • 25:18 - 25:21
it is still a little bread and wine.
  • 25:21 - 25:25
In the book of Acts it is like a feast
    where they ate together
  • 25:25 - 25:28
and got filled up with food.
  • 25:28 - 25:32
But it changed and became something
    religious through the Catholic Church
  • 25:32 - 25:35
    and in the Lutheran church
    it is almost the same.
  • 25:36 - 25:42
So Martin Luther came with justification
by faith. Yes. But he didn’t reform
  • 25:42 - 25:47
the whole system back to the book of Acts.
  • 25:47 - 25:51
He didn’t change the church back
    to the book of Acts.
  • 25:52 - 26:00
One more thing, if we look at the book of
Acts, I’m going to go through this later,
  • 26:00 - 26:05
Jesus came with a priesthood where we
are all priests and everybody could
  • 26:05 - 26:09
    baptize, everybody could take communion,
everybody could be a part of all this.
  • 26:09 - 26:13
Because we are all priests with one
    high priest, Jesus Christ.
  • 26:14 - 26:18
That changed during the Catholic Church
and we got the system where we got
  • 26:18 - 26:23
the pope, the priest, the nuns
and the monks; we got a whole system
  • 26:23 - 26:27
and we got the whole system.
    And the lay people.
  • 26:27 - 26:31
    Something Jesus hates because
    we are all ministers.
  • 26:31 - 26:35
And I’m going to go through that
    in the next lesson.
  • 26:35 - 26:39
But it changed and then we got
    the reformation.
  • 26:39 - 26:43
    And in the Lutheran church
    what did Luther do?
  • 26:43 - 26:46
He took the pope and threw the pope out.
  • 26:46 - 26:48
So now we didn’t have a pope.
  • 26:48 - 26:53
But he didn’t change it back to the
    priesthood of all believers
  • 26:53 - 26:58
where there was the fivefold ministry
you read about in Ephesians 4:11.
  • 26:58 - 27:02
Where people were equipping the saints.
    He didn’t change that back.
  • 27:02 - 27:07
No, he just threw the pope out and he
still had the priest and now the eldership
  • 27:07 - 27:10
    and now other things.
  • 27:10 - 27:16
So what you saw was a reformation
but the reformation was not fulfilled.
  • 27:16 - 27:17
    It was just the beginning.
  • 27:18 - 27:24
Because it became a big system
    like the Catholic Church.
  • 27:25 - 27:30
So God had to send something more.
He wanted to take the church back
  • 27:30 - 27:34
    to the beginning so he
    sent the next revival.
  • 27:34 - 27:42
We saw that start in England in the
beginning of 1600 in the Baptist revival.
  • 27:42 - 27:49
    Many people got persecuted because
of their belief in baptism of believers.
  • 27:50 - 27:54
And they were persecuted by the Catholic
    Church and the Lutheran church
  • 27:54 - 27:57
and also by the Calvinistic church.
  • 27:57 - 28:03
They got persecuted and so they fled to
    Holland in 1609.
  • 28:03 - 28:09
They got the first Baptist church in
Holland (and we still have it).
  • 28:09 - 28:14
We got the biblical baptism of believers.
  • 28:14 - 28:17
And this is what we got. We put it here.
  • 28:18 - 28:22
And again you see the same thing
    when you talk about baptism.
  • 28:22 - 28:28
In the book of Acts, everybody got baptized
on the same day, on their own faith.
  • 28:28 - 28:32
And baptism, if you look in the Greek,
    was down under water.
  • 28:32 - 28:37
It was like a burying under water
    and it was really important.
  • 28:37 - 28:41
It was so important that you don’t see
anybody in the book of Acts who
  • 28:41 - 28:47
came to faith without getting baptized.
It is so clear in the book of Acts.
  • 28:47 - 28:52
But, still it changed again during the
    Catholic Church because it became
  • 28:52 - 28:55
a state religion. And because it was
    for everybody in the state.
  • 28:55 - 29:00
It was not about faith any more. They
    baptized everybody, every child.
  • 29:00 - 29:03
Because then they did not have any choice.
  • 29:04 - 29:09
And we see the children's baptism
    coming at that time.
  • 29:09 - 29:14
We got the reformation, but did the
    Lutheran church and Martin Luther
  • 29:14 - 29:19
change or reform the baptism back
to what we read in the Bible?
  • 29:19 - 29:27
No. Because he continued in this
    baptism, the baptism of children.
  • 29:28 - 29:31
So we see again the reformation
    was not fulfilled.
  • 29:31 - 29:34
It was still building on something
    that was totally wrong.
  • 29:34 - 29:40
So we got the baptism revival and out of
that we got a biblical baptism.
  • 29:41 - 29:43
    But it didn't stop there.
  • 29:44 - 29:50
After that things started in a good way,
they always started outside the church,
  • 29:50 - 29:55
like a revival movement, and there was
    always something amazing in it.
  • 29:55 - 29:58
    There was a revival, there
was a faith, there was fire.
  • 29:58 - 30:02
    But somehow it died out
    and became a system.
  • 30:02 - 30:05
So the Lutheran church today is not
so much the Martin Luther way.
  • 30:05 - 30:09
Martin Luther was much more radical
    than the Lutheran church.
  • 30:09 - 30:13
Also the Baptist church is not Baptist
like it was when it started.
  • 30:13 - 30:20
You are going to see that during every
revival everything started in an amazing way.
  • 30:20 - 30:24
Outside the church there was freedom,
there was life. Or if it started inside
  • 30:24 - 30:30
and had to breakout because the box
cannot keep what God is doing.
  • 30:30 - 30:37
Every time it became a new religion,
every time it became a new faith society,
  • 30:37 - 30:42
    faith network or organization
    or whatever you call it.
  • 30:43 - 30:47
Then it died out and you can say the same
    with the Methodists:
  • 30:48 - 30:53
John and Charles Wesley, they came with
    sanctification by faith, something
  • 30:53 - 31:00
Martin Luther had not understood, because
Martin Luther believed that we were under
  • 31:00 - 31:07
sin and not able to do anything about it.
But Charles and his brother John Wesley
  • 31:07 - 31:13
saw that God had called us to be Holy and
Jesus not only came to forgive our sins.
  • 31:13 - 31:16
But he also came to set us free
    and take sin away.
  • 31:16 - 31:21
    There was something they understood,
    an important truth.
  • 31:21 - 31:27
That we are supposed to be Holy as
God is Holy, so it came here afterwards.
  • 31:28 - 31:34
And now I want to show you
    something very interesting.
  • 31:35 - 31:41
In front of our eyes in the last many
hundred years you can see that Jesus
  • 31:41 - 31:46
or God is restoring His church.
  • 31:46 - 31:51
Many of the truths which got lost during
that time, He is restoring back to
  • 31:51 - 31:54
what we read in the word of God.
  • 31:55 - 32:01
If you go to Hebrews chapter six you will
    read what the foundation is
  • 32:01 - 32:11
for us as believers. The foundation is
    repentance from evil deeds,
  • 32:11 - 32:18
faith in God and baptism, those three
    things are the foundation.
  • 32:18 - 32:25
Repentance, faith in God and baptism
are what you read in Hebrew six.
  • 32:26 - 32:31
If we just take these three:
    repentance, faith and baptism.
  • 32:31 - 32:33
    Something we read about in
    the book of Acts.
  • 32:33 - 32:39
Something that the Catholic Church lost,
but something God started to renew.
  • 32:39 - 32:45
First came faith. We are justified
    by faith not by alms.
  • 32:45 - 32:51
Not by coming into church and doing the
right thing, but by faith in Jesus Christ.
  • 32:51 - 32:58
Then baptism in water and then
    holiness and repentance.
  • 32:58 - 33:05
So you see the things we saw beginning
in the book of Acts got changed
  • 33:05 - 33:11
during that time. But God started to
    renew and He continue that.
  • 33:11 - 33:16
The next thing you read in the book
of Acts is the eternal life.
  • 33:16 - 33:20
And then something to do with the laying
on of hands, receiving the Holy Spirit.
  • 33:20 - 33:27
And it was the next thing God sent.
The next thing: the Adventist Church,
  • 33:27 - 33:31
the hope of Christ’s second coming.
  • 33:31 - 33:36
The hope of Christ's sceond coming,
the Adventist Church. We put it here.
  • 33:37 - 33:42
And afterwards we got the next one.
    I have written here:
  • 33:42 - 33:47
    Finney and Moody:
    Baptism with the Holy Spirit
  • 33:47 - 33:53
It was to equip the saints.
The holy Spirit, not the gifts.
  • 33:53 - 33:56
But the Holy Spirit, the power
    to be a witness.
  • 33:56 - 34:00
And something they came with and
    God used them to bring,
  • 34:00 - 34:02
and other people at that time.
  • 34:02 - 34:08
    And when that came,
we saw a renewed side of everything again.
  • 34:08 - 34:12
The Holy Spirit came and the power
    and life started to happen.
  • 34:12 - 34:19
But still if you look during this time of
church history we saw justification by
  • 34:19 - 34:26
    faith, sanctification by faith, yes!
    Biblical baptism of believers, yes!
  • 34:26 - 34:28
    Hope of Jesus coming, yes!
  • 34:29 - 34:33
And baptism with the Holy Spirit, yes!
    The power, yes!
  • 34:33 - 34:38
But the gifts we read about in
    the book of Acts:
  • 34:38 - 34:42
speaking in tongues, to prophecy, casting
out demons, healing the sick is something
  • 34:42 - 34:48
that got lost in the Catholic Church and
those churches still are not building on.
  • 34:48 - 34:52
Why? Because this is not their
    foundation. To be honest.
  • 34:52 - 34:56
    Their foundation is tradition
    and not the Bible.
  • 34:56 - 35:01
I know it is provoking to say
    something like that.
  • 35:01 - 35:05
But you can just see: We are still,
and I was also, a part of it.
  • 35:05 - 35:08
Everybody of us is part of this history.
  • 35:08 - 35:11
    We have been building on
    a wrong foundation.
  • 35:11 - 35:15
So today we have a lot of churches
where you don’t see the life,
  • 35:15 - 35:19
you don’t see the gifts and you don’t
    have the right theology.
  • 35:19 - 35:26
So God sent something new: the Pentecost,
the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
  • 35:26 - 35:32
Azusa street, Los Angeles in 1906,
    W. J. Seymour.
  • 35:32 - 35:34
There was a group of people who
    was together praying.
  • 35:34 - 35:40
The Holy Spirit came and fell upon
them and the gifts were renewed
  • 35:40 - 35:42
to the church one more time.
  • 35:45 - 35:52
At the same time we had that there was
another revival in Wales with E. Roberts.
  • 35:52 - 35:58
An amazing revival where 100,000 people
got saved in the first few months.
  • 35:58 - 36:00
    And people really repented.
  • 36:00 - 36:05
It was radical and they closed down the
jails and the pubs, and everything.
  • 36:05 - 36:08
    People started to stop
    stealing and swearing.
  • 36:08 - 36:13
And a lot of things happened
    during the Wales revival.
  • 36:13 - 36:20
Out of that there also came a truth
    that had been lost.
  • 36:20 - 36:23
And it was the five-fold ministry.
  • 36:23 - 36:30
Like we read in the book of Acts, but
it never became like the book of Acts.
  • 36:30 - 36:35
Because we still have, in those churches,
we still have the whole box.
  • 36:35 - 36:40
Like we read about with the priests.
So then the five-fold ministry didn’t get
  • 36:40 - 36:43
the right place as we read
    in the book of Acts.
  • 36:44 - 36:49
I’m going to come back to that later.
Out of that we got the Apostolic church.
  • 36:49 - 36:53
In Denmark we have a movement,
a network called the Apostolic church.
  • 36:53 - 36:57
    Who has their foundation
    in the Wales Revival.
  • 36:58 - 37:03
    This is some church history,
I have just taken you through.
  • 37:03 - 37:07
And we can learn so much out
    of this church history.
  • 37:08 - 37:14
We can learn, why we are doing
the things we are doing today.
  • 37:14 - 37:23
Because if we start to look at the whole
setting, the box surrounding the life
  • 37:23 - 37:27
and when we look at the church building.
  • 37:27 - 37:32
They (in the book of Acts) didn’t have a
church building the way we have it.
  • 37:32 - 37:35
They didn’t have a Sunday meeting
    the way we have it.
  • 37:35 - 37:40
They didn’t have a Sunday worship order
    the way we have it.
  • 37:40 - 37:43
    Where everything looks the same,
    like put in a box.
  • 37:44 - 37:46
    They didn’t have that.
  • 37:47 - 37:50
And a lot of things changed
    through the Catolic Church.
  • 37:50 - 37:54
We got the building, we got the
priests, we got the Sunday meetings
  • 37:54 - 37:59
    with the Sunday worship
    order that we have today.
  • 38:00 - 38:08
That changed. And the Catolic Church and
the Lutheran church look the same.
  • 38:08 - 38:12
    And every other church looks
    like the Lutheran church.
  • 38:13 - 38:16
    Sunday meeting. Of course,
    some have it on Saturday.
  • 38:16 - 38:21
    Sunday meeting, Sunday meeting,
    Sunday meeting, church building.
  • 38:21 - 38:23
    Everything somehow look the same!
  • 38:23 - 38:30
If you travel in the world today,
almost every church looks the same.
  • 38:30 - 38:34
Every time we have a pastor who
    is standing with the Word:
  • 38:34 - 38:41
"In our church we are building on
the Word, and the Word alone."
  • 38:41 - 38:44
They are saying that but they don’t know
that the the whole foundation they are
  • 38:44 - 38:47
building on, when it come to the setting,
when they come to the building,
  • 38:47 - 38:52
when they come to the hierarchy,
when it comes to the church meeting.
  • 38:52 - 38:57
It's not the Bible, but the Catolic church
in the year 300 and forward.
  • 38:57 - 39:03
And because of that, somehow the
life is drawn out of people.
  • 39:03 - 39:06
Because we are all called to serve God!
  • 39:06 - 39:09
I’m going to talk about that
    in the next lesson.
  • 39:09 - 39:11
Because we are all called to serve God.
  • 39:11 - 39:16
And if you are just coming into church
and listening and not doing anything,
  • 39:16 - 39:20
you are dying slowly and this
is what we are seeing today.
  • 39:20 - 39:26
    Because that church setting is
    not able to make disciples.
  • 39:26 - 39:30
And I want to tell a
    testimony of my own life.
  • 39:30 - 39:38
I got saved in one of those boxes. I came
into a church and I looked around me.
  • 39:38 - 39:43
And I thought: "This is what I see,
this is the normal Christian life."
  • 39:43 - 39:49
And I, like many others, had a desire and
longing to serve God and I said:
  • 39:49 - 39:53
"Ok, how can I serve God?" I was looking
around thinking how can I serve God.
  • 39:53 - 39:56
"OK, I cannot sing, I cannot
    be part of worship.
  • 39:56 - 40:03
Because I don’t have any tone in my life.
"Ok, I want to preach but I cannot do that
  • 40:03 - 40:06
because this is taken by somebody else."
  • 40:06 - 40:11
So I became an usher and I helped
with practical things. It was Ok.
  • 40:11 - 40:17
But I remember after some years. I had a
longing for more. I wanted to preach.
  • 40:17 - 40:22
Because again it was the only thing I
saw inside of that church I could do.
  • 40:22 - 40:25
So I said to my friend:
"How can I come to preach?"
  • 40:25 - 40:29
And he said that you can build up to it.
    Start in the Sunday school.
  • 40:29 - 40:31
    After some years you could
    be a youth leader.
  • 40:31 - 40:36
After some years as a youth leader you
are going to speak one Sunday each year.
  • 40:36 - 40:41
He told me that. I looked at my hand and
if I did everything according to this
  • 40:41 - 40:48
system, it would take me five years to get
the chance to speak one Sunday each year.
  • 40:48 - 40:53
Somehow it opened my eyes. Suddenly I
looked around and I was shocked!
  • 40:53 - 40:57
Because here were many people who
had been on Bible school, who knew God.
  • 40:57 - 41:02
But where was the life? Now they were just
coming and sitting and not serving.
  • 41:02 - 41:06
    And nothing was happening!
I saw that there was something wrong.
  • 41:06 - 41:10
And because of that me and my wife
    went to another town
  • 41:10 - 41:12
    to help some other people
    to build a church.
  • 41:12 - 41:17
At that time we were young and we
were on fire. There was nobody over us.
  • 41:17 - 41:20
So we were free to do exactly
    what we wanted to do.
  • 41:20 - 41:27
I remember: "Now we are free, yes!"
And I remember we were going to have our
  • 41:27 - 41:31
first Sunday meating: "What shall we do?
    You are going to preach.
  • 41:31 - 41:35
Oh, it's going to be good! I’m going
    to lead a meeting, woo!"
  • 41:35 - 41:38
"But we also want to take up an offering."
  • 41:38 - 41:41
"Yes, but we cannot just take up
    an offering and then preach."
  • 41:41 - 41:46
"No, what if I say a welcome
    and sing some songs.
  • 41:46 - 41:49
    And then have some information,
    then take an offering?
  • 41:49 - 41:54
And then we have some more songs
and then preach?" "Yes! Let’s do that!"
  • 41:54 - 42:01
And I was so happy until I looked at the
paper and I saw: This is not different!
  • 42:01 - 42:05
This is exactly what we came out of!
  • 42:07 - 42:15
And this is what we have to understand.
I left because I wanted to make disciples.
  • 42:15 - 42:19
I wanted to change it. But it was
one thing to leave the old thing.
  • 42:19 - 42:22
And another thing to get the
    old thing out of me.
  • 42:22 - 42:27
Like Moses, it was not so difficult for
him to get the Israelites out of Egypt.
  • 42:27 - 42:31
But it was difficult to get Egypt out of
    them. They always looked back.
  • 42:31 - 42:38
And for me, I got saved and I came to the
church and when I left that a short time
  • 42:38 - 42:43
later, I wanted to build something new.
I wanted to make disciples. What happened?
  • 42:43 - 42:46
I ended up with the old thing
    one more time.
  • 42:46 - 42:50
I ended up with a Sunday meeting
where we have: Welcome, some songs,
  • 42:50 - 42:58
information, offer, songs, then you preach
and then we take some communion.
  • 42:58 - 43:02
    And it looked exactly like
    what I came out of.
  • 43:02 - 43:06
It looked so far away from what
we read in the first church.
  • 43:06 - 43:10
They didn’t have an order like that.
  • 43:10 - 43:15
But now many years later in Denmark
    I have that order. Why?
  • 43:15 - 43:18
    Because of my church background,
    because of the Catholic Church.
  • 43:18 - 43:26
Somehow it has continued and we are all
part of those traditions. And my story is
  • 43:26 - 43:29
that we left that place to another place
and worked with church planting again.
  • 43:29 - 43:31
And each time I learned a little more.
  • 43:31 - 43:37
But somehow, it was not easy to break out
of that box, to break out of the tradition.
  • 43:37 - 43:42
But in the end God gave me a dream
    and I experienced the freedom.
  • 43:42 - 43:47
And when I experienced the freedom,
    a lot of things changed.
  • 43:47 - 43:54
And we moved to another town and
    what happened was that there
  • 43:54 - 43:59
God took us to a desert.
We lost our house, we lost our money.
  • 43:59 - 44:03
My wife was sick at that time,
lying in bed and I wanted to die.
  • 44:03 - 44:05
It was four years ago or so.
  • 44:05 - 44:10
I was ready to die because I was asking,
    "God where are you?"
  • 44:10 - 44:18
We lost everything at that time. But when
we lost everything we found Jesus.
  • 44:18 - 44:24
    And I had a period of 2 years or 1 1/2
years where I was not part of a church.
  • 44:24 - 44:27
    So I was seeing everything
    from the outside.
  • 44:27 - 44:30
    When I saw everything
    from the outside,
  • 44:30 - 44:33
    suddenly I started to see
    things in a new way.
  • 44:33 - 44:38
It was like my glasses were coming off
me and I saw things in a new way.
  • 44:38 - 44:43
It created a new life for me.
And I can tell a testimony.
  • 44:43 - 44:47
I was fasting one time for forty days
    during that period.
  • 44:47 - 44:51
And one day God spoke to me and
said: "Torben" and I said: "What!"
  • 44:51 - 44:56
"Go to Næstved", it is a town in
    the other end of Denmark.
  • 44:56 - 45:02
And I just knew it was God and I went home
crying. "Oh we are going to Næstved"
  • 45:02 - 45:05
It was so strong for me
    so we went to Næstved.
  • 45:05 - 45:10
And I went there and I said: "God, now I
am here what do you want me to do?"
  • 45:10 - 45:14
And I went around praying some
    days and waiting for God.
  • 45:14 - 45:18
Then on Sunday there was a small
Baptist church and I spoke there.
  • 45:18 - 45:20
I know a friend who is a pastor there.
  • 45:20 - 45:23
And there came a guy to me
    and I prayed for him.
  • 45:23 - 45:28
He had a problem in the knee and he was
going to be operated on the week after.
  • 45:28 - 45:30
I prayed for him and God healed him.
  • 45:30 - 45:33
He could walk up and down
    the stairs without any problem.
  • 45:33 - 45:37
After the meeting he cam to me. He said:
“Torben, I need to talk to you.
  • 45:37 - 45:40
When did God speak to you
    about going to Næstved?"
  • 45:40 - 45:42
    And I looked at him:
  • 45:42 - 45:48
"The first afternoon when I was praying
on the field at three o'clock. Why?"
  • 45:48 - 45:52
And he said: “Torben this is amazing,
I found your website on Monday.
  • 45:52 - 45:56
And I also had been praying to God
    Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday:
  • 45:56 - 46:01
"God, send Torben to Næstved, so he
can pray for me so I can get healed.”
  • 46:01 - 46:05
    And I said: "What?"
When I heard that I thought:
  • 46:05 - 46:11
"Woo-ow! Here I am in the other end of
Denmark praying. God spoke to me:
  • 46:11 - 46:17
"Go there and I went because this guy
had been praying and he got healed.
  • 46:17 - 46:21
I said to my wife on my way home:
  • 46:21 - 46:25
"This is what we want! This life, where
we are being led by the Spirit."
  • 46:25 - 46:29
    Now I have hundreds of
    testimonies of this.
  • 46:29 - 46:35
How the Holy Spirit is leading
and guiding us in everyday life.
  • 46:35 - 46:41
When I started to break out of those boxes
of tradition, suddenly I saw who I was.
  • 46:41 - 46:45
I was a priest, I was filled with the
Holy Spirit. I was the temple of God.
  • 46:45 - 46:52
God could use me in everyday life! And it
helped me to come back to the book of Acts.
  • 46:52 - 46:54
    Every person I’ve been working
    with and trained since then
  • 46:54 - 46:58
    giving this teaching have
    experienced the same:
  • 46:58 - 47:01
When they break out of those
    traditions and mind-sets,
  • 47:01 - 47:06
    suddenly they start to experience
the life we read about in the book of Acts.
  • 47:06 - 47:11
And this is my teaching. Much of my
teaching comes from that period where
  • 47:11 - 47:17
we went to a desert and saw things in a
new way and broke out of those traditions.
  • 47:17 - 47:26
I want to say from the beginning: I love
the church, and I am not against it.
  • 47:26 - 47:32
But I want to see a reformation.
And like Luther, The Catholic church:
  • 47:32 - 47:37
When Luther started to reform the
Catholic Church they said to him that
  • 47:37 - 47:41
he was sent from Satan to
    destroy the church.
  • 47:41 - 47:44
But we know today Martin Luther
    wasn’t against the church.
  • 47:44 - 47:48
He just wanted to reform it.
And I’m not against the church either,
  • 47:48 - 47:50
    I want reform the church.
  • 47:50 - 47:54
But my view of church is very different
    than other views of church.
  • 47:54 - 47:59
I’ve been speaking in many churches
    today: Pentecostal, Baptists and
  • 47:59 - 48:06
    in different kinds of settings.
I can speak there and somehow respect it.
  • 48:06 - 48:11
But I believe if we really want to be
    effective in making disciples;
  • 48:11 - 48:15
we have to go down and
    look at the foundation.
  • 48:15 - 48:17
We have to change the foundation.
  • 48:17 - 48:26
You cannot see if a church is a healthy
church by how much money they have!
  • 48:26 - 48:30
You cannot see how good a church is by
the number of members they have.
  • 48:30 - 48:33
Or how many people are coming on Sunday.
  • 48:33 - 48:38
You don't see that by how many
    activities the church has. No!
  • 48:38 - 48:43
And especially you cannot see it by
    what is happening on Sunday.
  • 48:43 - 48:46
    Because on Sunday everybody is
smiling and everything is looking good.
  • 48:46 - 48:52
No, if you want to see if something is good
and healthy you can see it by their fruits.
  • 48:52 - 48:54
    Do they create disciples?
  • 48:54 - 49:01
Do peoplel love Jesus and follow Him
and obey His word in deeds also?
  • 49:01 - 49:05
Obey His words? When we are
talking about a life with Jesus,
  • 49:05 - 49:10
not only Sunday morning but Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and so on.
  • 49:10 - 49:13
So if you want to see if a
    church is a good church;
  • 49:13 - 49:17
then watch what people do on Friday, what
the young people do on Friday evening.
  • 49:17 - 49:20
What the older people talk about
    Wednesday afternoon.
  • 49:20 - 49:22
    What are people doing
    when they are together?
  • 49:22 - 49:28
Is it Jesus, the word of God that is
coming out of their mouths or bad jokes?
  • 49:28 - 49:34
I am very bold in what am doing today
    because I see the fruits.
  • 49:34 - 49:39
People are becoming disciples of Jesus.
    People are growing.
  • 49:39 - 49:44
And I want to see a reformation of this.
I want to se a reformation.
  • 49:44 - 49:48
I believe many priests today also
    want to see that reformation.
  • 49:48 - 49:53
Because I have met many priests who
    are dying inside this system.
  • 49:53 - 49:58
They start it up because they want to make
disciples, but end up with Sunday meeting,
  • 49:58 - 50:03
    Sunday meeting, Wednesday meeting,
Sunday meeting and the life was gone.
  • 50:03 - 50:07
And the people were not growing any more
and they are somehow getting killed.
  • 50:07 - 50:13
I've been a priest in the traditional way
also and my life was going out of me.
  • 50:13 - 50:19
It was really hard. But now, by changing
the way, a lot of things happen.
  • 50:19 - 50:22
I have a book about that:
    "The Last Reformation".
  • 50:22 - 50:26
You can see it on my website.
I encourage people to read that book.
  • 50:26 - 50:32
If you really want to go into more details
then read my book: "The Last Reformation".
  • 50:32 - 50:37
You can buy it as an eBook on Amazon.com
    website and different places.
  • 50:37 - 50:40
I have a link on my website:
    www.thelastreformation.com
  • 50:40 - 50:44
where you can get the eBook
    or the normal book.
  • 50:44 - 50:48
    I encourage you to read
    "The Last Reformation"
  • 50:48 - 50:52
Because this is some of the history I’m
taking you through and showing you
  • 50:52 - 50:55
why we are doing it and what we are doing.
  • 50:55 - 51:04
I want to say: If we talk about this, the
    problem is not only the church setting;
  • 51:04 - 51:09
why we do what we are doing. The
    problem is also our theology.
  • 51:09 - 51:15
Because, we see the Catholic Church has a
theology where they lost a lot of things.
  • 51:15 - 51:20
Then it came justification by faith,
    baptism of believers, sanctification,
  • 51:20 - 51:24
baptism in the Holy Spirit and so on.
  • 51:24 - 51:27
But God did not recreate those truths for
  • 51:27 - 51:32
people to sit in their own
    box with the truth.
  • 51:32 - 51:35
    Many today, especially in a
    Lutheran country like Denmark
  • 51:35 - 51:40
believe we are Lutheran and: "Oh, we
don’t need the Holy Spirit because
  • 51:40 - 51:44
    we already have everything
    in the Lutheran church."
  • 51:45 - 51:50
But it’s not like that because
    everything is a truth.
  • 51:50 - 51:53
And I am not saying the last
    thing is the best,
  • 51:53 - 51:58
because the Pentecostal church can really
    learn something from the Methodists
  • 51:58 - 52:02
    when it comes to sanctification
    by faith and holiness.
  • 52:02 - 52:05
So I don’t say that this is the best.
    No.
  • 52:05 - 52:11
I believe what we are going to see is that
every truth is going to come together.
  • 52:11 - 52:15
But it’s not going to come together
    by these big denominations
  • 52:15 - 52:20
    coming together being one.
No, because you cannot do that.
  • 52:20 - 52:25
And we are seeing today a false
    revival happen where many
  • 52:25 - 52:28
of the churches are leaning toward
    the Catholic Church again.
  • 52:28 - 52:31
I am shocked how Pentecostal priests are
  • 52:31 - 52:33
    starting to lean toward
    the Catholic Church.
  • 52:33 - 52:37
The church fathers they call it.
  • 52:37 - 52:40
Don’t go back to those traditions...
    go back to the Bible,
  • 52:40 - 52:43
to the book of Acts instead of this.
  • 52:43 - 52:46
    But they are leaning toward
    the Catholic Church
  • 52:46 - 52:49
and this is the false revival we
    are seeing happen right now.
  • 52:49 - 52:53
Just wait, it is going to happen much,
much more in the near future.
  • 52:53 - 52:57
But the true revival is that people are
going to come out of those.
  • 52:57 - 53:00
And the boxes are going to fall down.
  • 53:00 - 53:03
Then we are going to be united
    as one people.
  • 53:03 - 53:07
And if you meet around with people
in the street and in their homes there
  • 53:07 - 53:12
    is nothing on their forehead--
    Pentecostal or Baptist. No!
  • 53:12 - 53:17
You are just a disciple of Jesus and I
believe this is what God wants us to do:
  • 53:17 - 53:22
To unite us as one people so we can
    learn and get everything right.
  • 53:22 - 53:25
Because you can have a truth.
  • 53:25 - 53:30
But if you have that truth alone without
the other truth; you are wrong.
  • 53:30 - 53:38
Yes, you are justified by faith, but Jesus
didn’t say to get people justified.
  • 53:38 - 53:46
No, he said go out and get people to
become my disciples so they obey me.
  • 53:46 - 53:52
And to obey Him we need to bury the old
life and also we need to live a holy life.
  • 53:52 - 53:57
We need to focus on the eternal life,
    we need the Holy Spirit,
  • 53:57 - 54:06
we need the gifts, when it comes to
being a disciple and following Jesus.
  • 54:06 - 54:14
I just want to show you, to take an
example of theology, how bad this is.
  • 54:14 - 54:23
If I take ten kids who are ten years
old and I give them a Bible.
  • 54:23 - 54:27
And I ask those ten kids to read the
gospels and the book of Acts.
  • 54:27 - 54:31
Then I ask them when is a person
    going to get baptised?
  • 54:32 - 54:38
Is it the first Sunday after they
came to faith? After some months?
  • 54:38 - 54:41
    Whenever they receive some
    teaching in the church?
  • 54:41 - 54:46
Or after many years when they
feel they are ready to get baptised?
  • 54:46 - 54:51
If the kids have read the book of Acts
they will look at me and they will say:
  • 54:51 - 54:55
    None of these, but immediately
    the same day, why?
  • 54:55 - 55:01
Because this so clear, it is so clear
that kids ten years old can see that:
  • 55:01 - 55:06
Everybody who came to faith in the
book of Acts got baptised the same day.
  • 55:06 - 55:12
    Everybody repented and got baptised
    and received the Holy Spirit.
  • 55:12 - 55:18
It was the beginning and it was
so clear for the ten kids.
  • 55:19 - 55:29
But if I take five very smart people
    from each denomination,
  • 55:29 - 55:33
who can read Greek and Hebrew,
  • 55:33 - 55:40
and who had been studying theology for
many years and ask them the same question:
  • 55:40 - 55:43
"When is a person going to get baptised?
  • 55:43 - 55:47
They are going to give me
    five different answers.
  • 55:47 - 55:50
    It depends on where they
    have been studying.
  • 55:50 - 55:55
And none of the answers are the truth.
Because which of these groups are
  • 55:55 - 55:58
    baptising people the same day?
    None of them. Why?
  • 55:58 - 56:00
Because it doesn't fit in their boxes.
  • 56:00 - 56:05
Somehow we have taken the word of God
out of power because of our religion,
  • 56:05 - 56:07
    because of our traditions.
  • 56:07 - 56:11
    Because in this church denominational
box it doesn't fit in that we
  • 56:11 - 56:13
    baptise people the same day.
  • 56:13 - 56:16
Because we want it to happen
inside a church, at a meeting,
  • 56:16 - 56:18
and it has to be organised.
  • 56:18 - 56:22
Because of that we are loosing the
power and we are loosing the life.
  • 56:22 - 56:27
But God doesn’t confirm our tradition,
    He confirms His word.
  • 56:27 - 56:30
    I've experienced baptising
    people the same day,
  • 56:30 - 56:33
where the Holy Spirit is falling so that
    people around are suddenly
  • 56:33 - 56:37
starting to speak in tongues without
    anybody praying for them. Why?
  • 56:37 - 56:40
Because God likes it! God loves His word!
  • 56:40 - 56:44
God loves it when we obey and honour
Him and do what He called us to do.
  • 56:44 - 56:47
And not what our traditions tell us to do.
  • 56:47 - 56:52
So you see those big smart people,
    who can Greek and Hebrew,
  • 56:52 - 56:58
cannot see what the Word is saying.
But ten kids can see it.
  • 56:58 - 57:04
And we often believe it is all about
traditions, or it is all about knowledge,
  • 57:04 - 57:05
    all about teaching.
  • 57:05 - 57:10
And many people in churches around the
world today think that if I want to
  • 57:10 - 57:19
worship or serve God I just need to go to
Bible school. Wrong! To be honest, wrong!
  • 57:19 - 57:25
In the book of Acts, did they go on a
Bible school? No! Did they know Jesus? Yes
  • 57:25 - 57:29
Did they have a lot of knowledge? Yes.
But it was by being together with Jesus,
  • 57:29 - 57:31
not by studying in a Bible school.
  • 57:31 - 57:36
I don’t say Bible school is necessarily
wrong but the problem with a Bible school
  • 57:36 - 57:39
is that when you are finished with
    the Bible school,
  • 57:39 - 57:42
you read the Bible with different glasses.
  • 57:42 - 57:48
For example, if I meet a person who has
been studying theology I can tell you what
  • 57:48 - 57:51
    this person believes in
    without talking with him.
  • 57:51 - 57:54
I just have to know where
    he has been studying.
  • 57:54 - 57:58
If he have been studying in the Lutheran
church: "Oh, you believe this and this.."
  • 57:58 - 58:00
    The Methodist church:
    "You believe this and this."
  • 58:00 - 58:05
The Baptist church: "You believe in
this and this". Can you see it?
  • 58:05 - 58:13
And it is like, somehow: When
we get saved or grow up,
  • 58:13 - 58:16
we get saved or grow up in a church
    denomination, a church setting.
  • 58:16 - 58:23
And often, we believe that what we grow up
in is the only truth. Or what we start in.
  • 58:23 - 58:29
Because everything we see looks like
what we are doing is the truth.
  • 58:29 - 58:34
And we have smart people around us
who know the Bible much better than us.
  • 58:34 - 58:36
So because of that it must be the truth.
  • 58:36 - 58:39
But we forget everybody has smart people
around them who know the Bible.
  • 58:39 - 58:44
    And everybody believes what they
    are doing is the truth.
  • 58:44 - 58:49
But often we cannot see. Because we
    read through these glasses.
  • 58:49 - 58:56
I also have friends who is priests in the
Lutheran ministry who are very smart
  • 58:56 - 59:00
in many ways, but when it comes to
    baptism they cannot see.
  • 59:00 - 59:05
When I read what they are saying...
If I was a teacher in a school where
  • 59:05 - 59:12
they had an assignment, I would give
    them the lowest grade. Why?
  • 59:12 - 59:16
Because it's so bad, their theology,
    when it comes to that.
  • 59:16 - 59:20
In many other ways they are strong,
but when it comes to that it is very bad.
  • 59:20 - 59:25
They cannot see it because of their glasses.
Or they are afraid to see.
  • 59:25 - 59:32
Because if they suddenly see it, and
change their view on baptism, for exemple,
  • 59:32 - 59:36
then they are going to lose their job,
    their friends and their money.
  • 59:36 - 59:42
They are going to lose everything because
they are not inside the box any more.
  • 59:42 - 59:46
This is the problem, they often hinder
us in getting the right theology
  • 59:46 - 59:51
    and getting to know God.
    Our boxes! Our boxes!
  • 59:51 - 59:55
How often, if it was not a problem with
the box, do we see all the time,
  • 59:55 - 59:59
a preist who read the Bible and:
    "Hey, I bacame a baptist!"
  • 59:59 - 60:03
Or a baptist read about the Holy Spirit:
    "Oh, became a Pentecostal."
  • 60:03 - 60:06
But how often do we see that?
    Not very often.
  • 60:06 - 60:11
Most of the time, what you get saved
    into, the church setting.
  • 60:11 - 60:17
What you grew up in you are going to
continue in for the rest of your life.
  • 60:17 - 60:23
And you believe that you are so lucky,
because you just grew up in the right
  • 60:23 - 60:26
    church denomination who has the
    truth and the truth alone.
  • 60:26 - 60:29
    I don’t believe anyone
    has the truth alone.
  • 60:29 - 60:34
I believe we have to get some of
the truth from each one of those
  • 60:34 - 60:36
before we can get the whole truth.
  • 60:36 - 60:40
So I just want to say,
    it’s not only about theology.
  • 60:40 - 60:43
    It’s really about getting
    the glasses off you.
  • 60:43 - 60:47
I don’t want to discuss theology
with people, I’ve done that before.
  • 60:47 - 60:50
But I don’t want to waste a lot
    of time with discussions.
  • 60:50 - 60:54
I want to use the time to train
and to do teaching like this,
  • 60:54 - 60:59
so people can get their glasses off them,
and just start to read the Bible for
  • 60:59 - 61:02
    themselves with the Holy Spirit
    teaching them.
  • 61:02 - 61:07
When you do that, suddenly you: "Wow,
you see things you haven't seen before.
  • 61:07 - 61:12
Now you know why my website is called
    "The Last Reformation".
  • 61:12 - 61:16
    I have here:
The Catholic system must fall and
  • 61:16 - 61:20
God bring us all together before
    Jesus is comming again.
  • 61:20 - 61:26
"The Last Reformation", which is the name
of my book and my website.
  • 61:26 - 61:30
This is some of the teaching you
    have received here.
  • 61:30 - 61:34
I believe that we are standing in front of
    the Last Reformation because
  • 61:34 - 61:39
God in front of us, the last many years,
has been building His church and
  • 61:39 - 61:42
He wants us to take the glasses off us.
  • 61:42 - 61:47
He want us to break out of our wrong
foundation and come back to the simple,
  • 61:47 - 61:52
but powerful life we read about
    in the book of Acts.
  • 61:52 - 61:57
Like the people who came from Holland
who wanted to learn to heal the sick
  • 61:57 - 62:04
I didn’t give them a lot of teaching we
just had some coffee, talked about Jesus
  • 62:04 - 62:09
and a lot of different things and then
I took them to the streets like I've done
  • 62:09 - 62:10
    with many other people.
  • 62:10 - 62:16
And in twenty minutes they had prayed
for sick people who had gotten healed.
  • 62:19 - 62:27
It didn’t take a lot of teaching. No,
because if we show the life
  • 62:27 - 62:32
and train the way Jesus did it,
    we can be so effective.
  • 62:32 - 62:35
And this is what I want to do with
    you during this Bible school.
  • 62:35 - 62:42
In the next 19 lessons I’m
    going to take you back
  • 62:42 - 62:45
step by step into the life you read
about in the book of Acts.
  • 62:45 - 62:48
I know there are going to be many
    questions like: "What about this?
  • 62:48 - 62:50
    And what shall we do?
    And… what about this?"
  • 62:50 - 62:56
I say: Relax, one step at a time,
you are going to understand it later.
  • 62:56 - 63:02
But what I want you to do now, before
I do the next lesson with you next week,
  • 63:02 - 63:07
I want you to take the Bible,
    the book of Acts.
  • 63:07 - 63:13
And just start to read the book
    of Acts from the beginning.
  • 63:13 - 63:17
When you read the book of Acts you will
see the church inside of that.
  • 63:17 - 63:21
    Then say to yourself:
"This is a normal Christian life!"
  • 63:22 - 63:28
"This is the normal Christian life."
    Read the book of Acts.
  • 63:28 - 63:32
And tell yourself "This is the normal Christian life."
  • 63:32 - 63:41
Try to forget what setting you are in,
try to forget what you see around you.
  • 63:41 - 63:47
And don’t think this is normal.
    The word of God,
  • 63:47 - 63:50
the book of Acts, is the
    normal Christian life.
  • 63:50 - 63:54
So take the book of Acts read it through.
    and if you want more,
  • 63:54 - 63:57
order my book: "The Last Reformation".
I think it will be good if you have that
  • 63:57 - 64:01
and read it through while you are
    going through the Bible school.
  • 64:01 - 64:06
It can be a great blessing for you.
Otherwise I want to see you next week.
  • 64:06 - 64:10
I look forward to it. Next week I'm going
to talk about, and I'm going to draw.
  • 64:10 - 64:14
I’m going to illustrate and I talk a
    little more about the system,
  • 64:14 - 64:17
    about the priesthood.
    That we are all priests.
  • 64:17 - 64:23
And help you to create a platform
in your life where you can grow.
  • 64:23 - 64:26
Because in the west today we have built
  • 64:26 - 64:31
    a Christianity where it’s
    all about knowledge.
  • 64:31 - 64:36
But it’s not all about knowledge,
    it’s about knowing and doing.
  • 64:36 - 64:41
We often think: "Oh, I just need
    more theology, more Bible school,
  • 64:41 - 64:43
    I need more education."
  • 64:43 - 64:47
But if you look at people who have been
    studying theology for many years.
  • 64:47 - 64:53
The more they have been studying, the
less useful they are in the kingdom of God
  • 64:53 - 64:57
when it comes to seeing growth, casting
out a demon, healing the sick,
  • 64:57 - 65:00
    hearing from God and being
    led by the Holy Spirit.
  • 65:00 - 65:06
    Because the theology comes instead
    of the practical and simple
  • 65:06 - 65:08
obedience toward the Word of God.
  • 65:08 - 65:12
What I did with this couple
    from Holland was so
  • 65:12 - 65:22
radical in reforming and totally changing
their lives, it just took 20 minutes.
  • 65:23 - 65:28
I talked with them and said this is so
amazing and at the same time so simple,
  • 65:28 - 65:30
nothing new, we just did what Jesus
    said in Luke 10:9.
  • 65:30 - 65:33
Go out, heal the sick and preach
the gospel. "Ok, let's do it."
  • 65:33 - 65:39
But often we build theology out of
things instead of just doing them.
  • 65:39 - 65:42
But for me and you to do it,
    we need a platform,
  • 65:42 - 65:46
we need to understand that Jesus wants
to be a part of our everyday life.
  • 65:46 - 65:49
Yeah, and I’m going to speak
    about that next week.
  • 65:49 - 65:52
God bless you and see you next week.
    Bye.
