-My name is
Sharane Calister.

I am 24 years old,
and I am from Des Moines, Iowa.

-Yeah.

-Oh, my God!

-I'm gonna tell you,
I turned around not because --

I mean, she was hilarious.
she loves you, obviously.

She yelled at me
to turn around.

But it's disrespectful

when you don't turn around
for someone

with that kind of talent.
-Yes, Adam.

-So, I turned --
you didn't, either!

-You didn't either.

[ Applause ]

-It took me forever because I am
weary from getting, just,

not picked when this girl
turns her chair.

'Cause I didn't read, like,
the life-coach book

before I came out.
I don't know.

I can obviously tell you're a
fan of her -- there you go. Yep.

I'll be over here.

[ Laughter ]

-I have never in my life
heard someone...

[ Audience laughs ]

...say things
like that before.

-'Cause I'm broken, y'all.
-Alicia, look what you did, man.

You broke Kelly Clarkson.
-I'm broke. You broke me.

-I didn't.

-Okay, let me tell you something
about Kelly Clarkson.

[ Cheers and applause ]

-Come on. Tell her.

Tell her about Kelly Clarkson,
Adam.

-Kelly Clarkson -- number one --
is a saint!

-That's true.
-She sings like an angel,

or like a lion --
whatever she feels.

-[ Laughs ]

-And by the way, she is
absolutely incredible.

-Don't you love
Kelly Clarkson?

-[ Laughs ]

-I do love Kelly.
I'm a big fan of you, so...

-Okay. Thank you.
-I love your voice.

-So, you're sayin'
there's a chance.

[ Laughter ]

-That was so powerful.

Your voice sounded like
perfection to me.

The low notes were so
passionate and genuine,

and then, when you went high,
it was like bangin'.

Whatever your journey
has been

has absolutely led you
to be able to share

that type of performance.

Can you tell me a little bit
about your story?

-I'm adopted. Me and my twin
sister got separated.

I wasn't able to grow up
with my family.

I wasn't able to grow up
with a mom or a dad.

I was finally able to actually
see my twin sister

and actually be with her
at the age of 18,

so I just put all of
that pain into my music.

-Okay.

-Go, queen!

-I'm sorry.
I'm totally gonna cry.

But I'm not.
-I'm gonna cry. [ Chuckles ]

-But that was a really
remarkable story.

That's what makes
great artists --

having all those hurdles

and just see what you're
gonna do with those cards,

and I'm curious.

Does your sister sing?
-She sure does.

-Wait!
Will you be on my team?

-Yes! I sure will!

-Okay. For God sakes,
who do you pick as your coach?

-Please.
