Marsh Intro

We're out on an incredibly well built
boardwalk, overlooking a marsh. So, this

is a form of wetland; there's all kinds of
names for wetlands- bogs, marshes, swamps.

Typically a marsh indicates that there's
wildlife full year, that there's fully

planted trees and grasses. You can see
behind me there's alders, they've actually

already lost their leaves, it's late fall.
There are lichens that are draping off the

branches. There's a variety of birds that
are nesting in the trees. So, there are

trees in this particular marsh but also a
lot of grasses and ferns and moss. An

incredibly rich, diverse
ecosystem.
