Greetings
-
My name is Rizwan
-
Today I will be talking about Balti-yul
and Balti language
-
Motherland Baltistan
is known is Balti-yul locally
-
Balti language belongs to the Tibeto-Burman branch
of Sino-Tibetan language
-
It's a Tibetic language
-
This language came to Baltistan when
Buddhist from Tibet migrated/Invaded to this region 700 years ago
-
Before the arrival of Tibetans
Baltis were followers of Bon religion
-
Gradually people left bon religion
and started practicing Buddhism
-
The influence of Tibetan language also increased
-
With passage of time Tibetan language
and Balti language started separating
-
Tibetan kingdom had broke into smaller kingdoms
-
Then Islam came to Baltistan
-
With Islam came the Persian language
-
People started using Persian loan words in Balti
-
Till that time, Balti was written in Aage
-
Also known as Tibetan script or Bod Yige
-
After becoming Muslim,
people stopped writing Balti in Tibetan script
-
Now Balti is written in Persian script
-
Both Urdu and Balti
are written in Nastaliq script
-
Balti people are trying their best
to revive the Tibetan script
