-
Befriending ourselves with the breath.
-
When we learn to simply come back to the breath.
-
Moment to moment we are training our mind to come back,
-
to be with the breath, to see whether it's shallow or rapid,
-
or if the touch of the breath can only be felt at the nostril level,
-
or the throat level.
-
We observe without judgment,
-
kindly, and gradually we learn to identify
-
when our breathing is stressed.
-
When we breathe in a very shallow way,
-
we know we are under stress.
-
We learned to be with that, placing our hands on our chest, on our belly,
-
and we just breathe.
-
Be with the breath, be with the body,
-
and come back to the life that is flowing in the breath and the body.
-
To be with the breath and the body can be very threatening, scary,
-
alienating for many of us because we have deserted ourselves for so long.
-
Slowly and patiently, we befriend our body
-
to recognize that the body is the mind.
-
The mind is the body.
-
They inter-are.
-
What about our sadness?
-
Where do we find it?
-
It is in the heaviness of our chest,
-
in the fatigue of our body.
-
Where do we find anger?
-
In the trembling of our hands?
-
In our quicken heartbeat?
-
Every emotion manifests in our body.
-
Our body is a manifestation of our mind.
-
So to take care of our body and our breathing
-
is to take care of our mind,
-
and our emotions, such as sadness, despair or confusion.
-
Is that of habitually feeling alienated and frightened by the body?
-
We gradually feel that it is comforting and empowering
-
to be in the body through the practice of mindful breathing,
-
scanning the body, relaxing the body and sending it love.
-
You may like to practice breathing,
-
befriending your breathing and sending yourself extra love.
-
Breathing in.
-
I befriend my inbreath.
-
Breathing out.
-
I befriend my outbreath.
-
Befriending inbreath and outbreath.
-
Hello my inbreath.
-
Hello my outbreath.
-
Breathing in.
-
I observe my inbreath as it is.
-
Breathing out.
-
I observe my outbreath as it is.
-
Observing inbreath.
-
Observing outbreath.
-
[BELL]
-

Breathing in.
-
I follow my inbreath from beginning to end.
-
Breathing out.
-
I follow my outbreath from the beginning to the end.
-
Following inbreath.
-
Following outbreath.
-
[BELL]
-
I'm here for my breathing.

I'm here with you.
