- (Finebros) So do you know about Netflix?
- No, I don't.

I really don't.

- I do know what Netflix is, yes.

- It's a streaming thing
where you can watch TV and movies?

That's about all I know!

You know how I am, technologically.

I cannot figure out how to make it work,
and I wish I could.

- They have great new shows now.

They have House of Cards.
They have Orange Is the New Black.

If you've got a Smart TV,
maybe we could watch it all the time.

- (Finebros) You know a lot about this!
- I guess I do.

- (Finebros) How long have you had Netflix?
- Probably a year.

- For the next month, for free,
and then we'll see.

- Three, maybe, years?
Three years, I think.

My daughter is the one
who persuaded me. (laughs)

- For a couple of years.

I haven't really watched it that much though

because it took me a while
to figure out how to use it.

- (Finebros) So why
is Netflix not been something

that you've ended up subscribing to?
- I don't need it for Jeopardy.

- (Finebros) That's just one title.

Netflix has full seasons
of so many TV shows and movies,

both new and old.
- Shut the front door! Get outta here.

What, like 2,000? 3,000?

- (Finebros) More.
- More?! (laughs)

That's amazing!
What next, eh?

- (Finebros) So Netflix has
also started to win awards

that typically go to television shows
-
with content that they're making,
that they own,

and only is available on Netflix.
- Boy, that's cool.

- (Finebros) So right here on this screen...

all of this is made by Netflix.

There's this much programming now.
- Oh my gosh.

Oh, so Chelsea Handler
has a show on here now.

- Oh, Orange Is the New Black.

I've heard about that
and I've always wanted to see it.

- Daredevil, I watched that.

I watched The Happy Valley.

I watched a little bit of Marco Polo,

and Grace and Frankie wasn't funny enough.

- (Finebros) What are your thoughts
that here is a company
-
that is exclusively online,
that is now making some of the most
-
acclaimed shows in all of media?
- I think it's terrific.
-
- It's a lot more
(laughing) than the old days.
-
When I was young, you had The Late show
-
and The Late Late Show.
-
- I expect that you're gonna see
-
pretty much everything
coming over the internet
-
instead of television.
-
- It makes you wonder if, I mean,
-
if television is gonna go by the wayside.
-
Because now that becomes a question mark,
-
when it was the standard.
-
- (Finebros) One of Netflix's appeals
is shows that release all at once.
-
So when they make an original show
like Orange Is the New Black,
-
the entire season is available immediately.
-
- Oh, really? Oh, you mean the whole series?
-
- They've never had that on television.
-
In fact, you're lucky if you get
to go through a whole season
-
with some of the series that you might like.
-
- I hope I would not fall into that,
but I know I might.
-
- With Breaking Bad,
we couldn't help ourselves.

We watched three in a row! (laughs)

- I've heard people spend
a whole ten episodes at a time.
-
I don't think I'm quite ready for that.

- (Finebros) So what do you think
about Netflix as a service
-
that has countless amounts
of movies and TV shows
-
that you can just watch whenever you want?
- Oh, I think it's great.

I think it's wonderful.

- I was able to find things
back in the '60s.
-
- I think it's a great service.
-
I remember when you had
to be home a certain day,
-
at a certain time,
to watch a certain show.
-
- For me, it's probably not the best
-
only because I don't use a laptop.
-
- (Finebros) Did you know you can
watch Netflix on a television?
-
- But do you have to have a laptop
-
to take in there to get it?
- (Finebros) No.
-
- Well, that's interesting.
-
- (Finebros) So Netflix is available online,
-
meaning you can watch it
on a computer or on your smartphone.
-
- Right, yeah.
-
- You can watch a TV on your phone?
-
- (Finebros) But you also
can watch it on your television.
-
- Oh, yeah, that's how I watched it.
-
- Every TV in my household are hooked up.
-
- Don't you need what they call
a certain kind of televi--

a Smart TV?
-
- (Finebros) You can use devices
like a Roku or an Apple TV
-
to connect Netflix to your television,
or you can buy a Smart TV,
-
where it's built in.
- This is what my husband's telling me
-
and trying to justify the $1,900 television
he wants to purchase.

- This future's getting to be overwhelming.
-
I mean, but it's so cool!
-
Oh, this is what's so perfect!

I was just thinking
about this the other day,
-
and I was like, "I wish I could do Netflix."
-
Now I can do it--
and I can get a new TV.

- (Finebros) So now that you've experienced
a little bit of Netflix

and learned more about it,
what do you think of it now?

- I think it's good.
Now I might consider it.

- I'm definitely considering it.

- Well, it might be something I want
-
to take advantage of on some level.

- Yeah, if I could put that into my budget,
I would definitely buy.

- It's great for those who
particularly have specific desires.
-
You could stream right into it
-
and go directly to what you'd like.

- I want to be able to pick
and choose what I want,
-
and not have to pay up
the yahoo for what I don't want,
-
which is most of it.
