I founded Tindalos with Aurélien Josse about four years ago.
-
What I've always wanted to do was game design,
-
so I created this company to make game design the way I wanted it to be.
-
We have two activities in the company.
-
The first one is making video games; we are working on Etherium.
-
And the second one is rendering and compositing 3D series,
-
and we're working on Foot 2 Rue Extreme at the moment.
-
Stellar Impact was our first game.
-
It is a MOBA game in a sci-fi universe.
-
Stellar Impact was made with Unity.
-
We didn't have much funding to make this project
-
and Unity was the best option for us.
-
We managed to put Stellar Impact on Steam.
-
The game had a small success, but a cool success
-
that allowed us to meet Focus Home Interactive.
-
We showed them Etherium and they were really enthusiastic regarding the project and decided to publish it.
-
Etherium is an RTS game, a sci-fi gold rush.
-
Every 1000 years, an extra-dimensional creature comes and lays its eggs on the ground of six deposit planets.
-
Three factions will struggle to have control over those eggs because they contain an incredible resource called the etherium.
-
Each faction uses etherium in a specific way.
-
We are trying to make a game not like all the other RTS.
-
We have implemented many different features that have a fresh feeling.
-
You don't find these features in other RTS.
-
I think all the tools in Unity are really great on the rendering, the shaders, etc.
-
We are using an incredible feature; it's a tool we found on the Asset Store.
-
We use Terrain Composer, it permits us to generate a terrain with Unity.
-
And with the Asset Store we use "Nuage", another tool for the skybox.
-
We use Animator to do animation in the game, Mecanim...
-
My global experience regarding Unity is that it's a great tool for indie studios.
-
Unity is going in a way that's really smart for them.
-
Unity is a very easy tool to use, with a lot of functions that are already in the engine.
-
It permits us to make a game easily, to easily have modular games.
-
With Unity we can develop our game quickly. This is a great engine.
-
I really hope that most of the old school RTS players will be pleased with Etherium to see that RTS is not dead.
-
There are many, many other things to find, to develop new cool features for RTS and re-invent the genre.
