- (Derek) Today you're doing something

a little different than usual.
- Oh, goody.

I can't really say I've
ever been in the studio

and had anything usual occur.

- (Derek) You're gonna be
playing a virtual reality game

using this: the HTC Vive.

- Oh yeah, yeah. This is cool new stuff.

- This is the virtual reality stuff.

- All the viewers out there,

see if they'll be doing something
like this when they're 84.

- (Derek) Today you'll
be playing nine holes...

- Oh, I like it.
- (Derek) ...of mini-golf.

- Okay. I think I can do that.

- I should do pretty well.

- This is more fun than real golf.

I think I'll be equally terrible at it.

- I'm ready. Let's do it.

- Oh, isn't this nice?
The trees are in bloom.

There's a lovely breeze.
The birds are singing.

- Where's the ball? Oh. (chuckles)

- Where are we shooting at?
Over there. Okay.

(in game: birds chirping)

- Do I actually set it up
like I'm really golfing?

- (Derek) Yep.

- Okay, here goes a hole in one.

Or not. (laughs)

- What?!

- That wasn't hard enough.

- (Derek) Now, if you hit the trigger,

you'll transport over
to where your ball is.

- All right.

- Oh. That is cool.
It just put me right by the hole.

- I want to go walking after it.
It's just instinctual.

- Oh, double bogey.

Oh. (chuckles)

I want to go over there
and get it. It's so... (laughs)

(ball falls into cup, applause)

- Ah.

- Thank you.

- Oh, and there's applause.

(laughs giddily)

- (Derek) If you look
over at the flagpole,

you can see your stroke count.

- Oh, six out of--
that's like quadruple bogey.

- Yaaay.

Wow. Well, I could've done better.
But that was very cool.

Whoa. Now where am I?

- All right. Where am I going here?

- So there's the flag.

- Par two. Uh-oh.

- Well, I haven't seen that
in a miniature golf course before.

Ready?

Ooh. [Inaudible].

Come on. (blows)

(cannon fires)

- Got it. All right.

(cannon fires)

(ball rattling)
- This is crazy.

- I got a rainbow up here from the cannon.

Means it was shot down-- whoa.

- That one's not too bad.

- Okay, here we are.
All right. I've got it now.

(ball falls in cup, applause)
- Yay, two.

- I like this game. Yeah, heck yeah.

- Boom, in there. Yeah.

Par two and got it in two.

- Oh, see? Isn't this nice?

You know what? This is the best way
to play miniature golf.

You know why?

I'm alone. (chuckles)

I'm not going, "Are these people
ever gonna hurry up?"

- Oh, I've always been

fabulously [inaudible]
aces every time.

[Inaudible].

- Ahh, yes, we're in.

- (laughs)

- Oh, oh, [inaudible].

- (Derek) Yeah, you made par.

- Oh. Not bad.

- This don't look like

- Wow, this is really tricky.

Oh, love the waterfall. That's fantastic.

- Oh, you really got to
[inaudible] on this one.

I wonder if you can do that.

- Oh no. (chuckles)

- (makes whoosh noise)

(blipping)
- (laughing)

- Whoa! That was good, right?

- That doesn't count as a shot,
you know, by the way.

It's called a setup.
It's a technical term.

- Oh! Dang!

Oh, for heaven's sakes.

Oh, finally. Ten, oh my gosh!

Well, if we're going for a high score,
I think I won that one.

(applause)

- Oh, they're cheering for me. How lovely.

- Very good game.
It's somewhat senior-oriented.

- Oh, they be moving?

- Moving parts.

Par six. Oh, okay.

- You know, some people
are really good at going,

"Okay, I'm gonna do it
right at this moment."

And I go, "Just hit it
and see what happens."

- We gotta pass those guys. (chuckles)

- (chuckles)

- Where are we going?
Oh, we got around the corner here.

- Oh, I go up the ramp here evidently.

- Ptchew.

Oh, you gotta be kidding me.

(ball clacking)

- ♪ Tada! ♪

- Oh my god, come on!
All these boxes are popping up.

- Oh my god, are you kidding me?

(makes rocket sound)

Oh, lordy, lordy.

(ball clacks)
- Okay.

Well, at least I'm on the
whatever you call that.

- Ugh. It's top of one of these.

(ball clacks)
- Yes! Woohoo!

(ball falls in cup, applause)
- Yo. That was a hard hole.

(applause)

- Wow, eight strokes?

- All right, I should be able to get this.

(ball falls in cup, applause)
34! It's a record!

(cackling)

- This is-- oh, this is
challenging and fun,

just like the real thing.

- Where's the flag? Over there, okay.

And that cannon's got to do the work.

- Oh, so you have to get it in there,

and then it shoots it up probably.

Oh, seriously.

- Well, I actually got a pretty good shot.

I don't know my own strength.

(cannon fires)

I got it.

(cannon fires)

- That's better.

Much better.

(cannon fires)

- Oh, hey. (chuckles) Got lucky.

(applause)
- (yells triumphantly)

- Let's see here.

Hole six, par three.

All right! Boom, yeah, here we go.

Come on. Get over there.

Beautiful! Hole in one, yeah!

(chuckles happily) Love it.

- Woo-hoo! Yay!

Oh, that's neat.

What? Yes!

(fireworks popping)
Hole in one! Woo-hoo!

- Ooh. It looks like it's autumn.

Par nine? Oh my god. Well, I'm in trouble.

- Argh.

(beep, drawbridge creaking)

- Ooh. Oh, ooh, a drawbridge. Ooh, cool.

This is better than most
miniature golf courses,

I gotta tell you. They put some
budget into this bad boy.

- Yay.

This is a hard hole.

- I kept it on the thing.

- Whup. Too far, too hard.

Ah, too soft.

It can be just as frustrating
as the real thing.

(chuckles)

Oh, come on!

- Moving on.

- Too good.

Oh my god, you could
fall off the cliff here.

(applause)

- 18. Only double!

(giggles) Double par!

- And the fans went wild. (laughs)

- All right. Where are we going now?

Oh. Down here, okay.

- I don't understand what
the other little yellow thing is.

Guess we'll find out.

(beep, drawbridge creaks, slams in place)

- Is that good or bad?

(beep, drawbridge creaks, slams in place)

- That sounded scary. What was that?

- (whispering) Go over the bridge.

- Come on. Get across that bridge.

- Ohhhh.

(ball falls in cup, applause)

I conquered it.

- This is good-- this will be a good one.

(ball falls in cup, applause)

To just relax with.

- I was so close.

Yes! Zillion hits, woo-hoo!

- Hole nine. Oh, it's the last hole!

Par six.

(ball bounces)

- All right. Look at-- maybe not so good.

(ball clacking)

- Keep going. Stop.

Oh. (chuckles)

(ball clacks and bounces)

- Oh.

It's keeping on going.
Can I peek over the side?

- Well, I got it down here.
But now where's the hole?

- Oh, you gotta go through that hole?

Whoa, what's that about?

- Ooh! Dang.

- (shrieks)

(ball bounces)

The fans push it back.
Shoot. This is impossible.

(fans whirring)

- That worked good. (chuckling)

- Let's see here. Oh, there's a hole.

I'll throw it in the corner.
Corner pocket, here we go.

Get in there. Get in there.

Yeah! All right.

This is supposed to be a six--
oh wait. It's still going, huh?

Let's see. Where are we now?
Where are-- okay.

- Pretty good shot.

- Yea! Got past the fans.

(ball falls in cup, applause)
Oh! That was awesome!

Woo-hoo!

(ball falls in cup, applause)

- Seven. (chuckles)

- Hmm... five.

I got a birdie. I got one birdie.

- 103, and plus 63. That ain't so good.

- 101. I didn't even break 100.
How embarrassing.

- 86 plus 46, and I don't know

if I have to do the math on that or not.

- (chuckles) That's like my real golf.

- 72. (laughs)

Oh well. It was fun.

- 42 strokes.

- 58.

Pretty damn good for a non-golfer, yeah.

- Man, I love it. Yeah.

- Personally, I would
probably opt to do this

more than go to a miniature golf course.

- Think about people who can't drive,

especially the older
population who can't drive.

So think about being
able to do these things.

Or you're in the hospital
and recovering from surgery.

To be able to enjoy that experience
without having to get out,

I think it's great.
