Bb Collaborate - Updates & More - Recording_1

  • 0:02 - 0:04
    Hello everyone.
  • 0:04 - 0:08
Um, I hope you and your family
    are doing well,
  • 0:08 - 0:10
uh, your loved ones are doing fine.
  • 0:10 - 0:13
Um, wow, we've come to this right?
  • 0:13 - 0:15
    We're transitioning to online.
  • 0:15 - 0:20
And, uh, most of your classes, I believe
at ACC they sent out an email
  • 0:20 - 0:24
that all the classes will be transitioning
to online, even those, the ones
  • 0:24 - 0:28
that they thought where you might
have to go in person and do,
  • 0:28 - 0:32
like, those hands-on kinda classes like
    auto mechanics or welding.
  • 0:32 - 0:37
Uh, I think they have decided that they're
    gonna go ahead and
  • 0:37 - 0:39
just bring them on to an online setting.
  • 0:39 - 0:44
So, with that being said, there's a couple
of reasons that I'm doing this video.
  • 0:44 - 0:48
Uh, and I want to first begin with
some disclaimers, if you would allow me.
  • 0:48 - 0:54
The first disclaimer is, uh, unfortunately
my air conditioner broke in my home.
  • 0:54 - 0:59
So, uh, I am sweaty, sorry,
it's just super hot in here.
  • 0:59 - 1:01
Uh, you know, so I'm also going to be
    drinking a lot of water.
  • 1:01 - 1:03
    I gotta stay hydrated.
  • 1:03 - 1:05
    Unfortunately I have underlying
    health conditions
  • 1:05 - 1:07
that I have to make sure I drink
  • 1:07 - 1:09
a lot of water and not get overheated.
  • 1:09 - 1:14
So, uh, bear with me when I'm talking
and I'm gulping down my water.
  • 1:14 - 1:17
    Excuse that, I don't mean
    to be rude or anything.
  • 1:17 - 1:23
Uh, also to, I'm sorry for my distraction
    of pictures in the background.
  • 1:23 - 1:26
    It's because I'm actually
    filming in my bedroom.
  • 1:26 - 1:29
I do not have office space in my home.
  • 1:29 - 1:32
    When I finished my Ph.D.,
I did away with office space.
  • 1:32 - 1:36
That was just not something that I'm real
too crazy about, because every time, for me,
  • 1:36 - 1:38
an office space, it meant school.
  • 1:38 - 1:41
So, you know, anyway, I kinda
    regret that now because
  • 1:41 - 1:43
I sure could use office space.
  • 1:43 - 1:45
    But anyway, uh, I don't
    have an office space,
  • 1:45 - 1:48
so the best place in my home is my bedroom.
  • 1:48 - 1:53
The most, quietest place because all
my family is in the other room over there.
  • 1:53 - 1:56
And, uh, I want to try to have,
    minimal distractions.
  • 1:56 - 2:00
    Another disclaimer is I live
    close to a military base,
  • 2:00 - 2:04
so this means I may have
    airplanes flying overhead.
  • 2:04 - 2:07
So if that happens when I'm talking
    I'll just turn silent,
  • 2:07 - 2:10
I'll wait for it to pass,
and then I'll continue to talk.
  • 2:10 - 2:14
Again apologies if this is not
    a clear, wonderful video.
  • 2:14 - 2:16
    I'm not a YouTuber.
  • 2:16 - 2:17
    I am not digital anything.
  • 2:17 - 2:21
I'm just, I'm on here just for
    the purpose of, um, giving
  • 2:21 - 2:22
    y'all some course updates.
  • 2:22 - 2:25
And again, apologies for the distraction.
  • 2:25 - 2:26
    Apologies for the lighting.
  • 2:26 - 2:29
Again, I'm just working with what I have.
  • 2:29 - 2:34
Um, a lot of you, have been emailing
and texting me and calling me
  • 2:34 - 2:35
    very, very concerned.
  • 2:35 - 2:41
And I totally get that, a lot of you
are really, have anxiety, really nervous
  • 2:41 - 2:44
about going into an online setting.
  • 2:45 - 2:47
What I want to say to you is:
  • 2:47 - 2:48
    You know me.
  • 2:48 - 2:50
You know what I expect from you.
  • 2:50 - 2:51
    You know the assignments.
  • 2:51 - 2:53
So, the class is not a brand
    new class, thank goodness.
  • 2:53 - 2:56
    We've had a while together.
  • 2:56 - 2:59
So we're now in the last 7 weeks
    of our course.
  • 2:59 - 3:02
So let that be a source of comfort for you.
  • 3:02 - 3:06
Uh, also too, I am always available
for you the best way I can be
  • 3:06 - 3:12
text, call me, uh, we can video chat,
    whatever you're comfortable with.
  • 3:12 - 3:16
Definitely find me, look for me,
    hunt me down.
  • 3:16 - 3:17
I will respond back to you.
  • 3:17 - 3:18
Give me 24 hours at least.
  • 3:18 - 3:23
I'm, I'm usually quicker at responding,
but if you can, give me 24 hours.
  • 3:23 - 3:28
Uh, and also too, I will be having
surgery this Friday but, you know,
  • 3:28 - 3:30
I will be able to get out of it
    and you know,
  • 3:30 - 3:32
if you need to get in contact with me,
  • 3:32 - 3:35
I will try my best to call
    you back on Friday.
  • 3:35 - 3:35
    Okay?
  • 3:35 - 3:40
So, uh, I, I made this video
    and I quickly learned,
  • 3:40 - 3:42
we just got a software, the faculty did,
  • 3:42 - 3:45
    uh, it's called Collaborate Ultra.
  • 3:45 - 3:51
And, uh, we're having to learn it, uh,
very quickly, so I am not a guru at this
  • 3:51 - 3:54
particular software, but I at least
tried to learn how to record.
  • 3:54 - 3:56
    So that's a start.
  • 3:56 - 4:00
And I wanted to give you a tour of our
course room and be able to give you some
  • 4:00 - 4:04
    type of face-to-face interaction
in terms of explaining updates and
  • 4:04 - 4:06
    modifications to assignments and etc.
  • 4:06 - 4:07
    Okay?
  • 4:07 - 4:12
Uh, please, if you're taking other classes,
make sure you get in touch with
  • 4:12 - 4:15
    your professors, read their emails,
be reading their announcements if they
  • 4:15 - 4:20
do that in Blackboard, their texts,
    however they communicate with you,
  • 4:20 - 4:23
make sure that you are up on that.
  • 4:23 - 4:27
Because every professor will set up
    their course room differently.
  • 4:27 - 4:31
    There will be different expectations,
    different modifications to assignments,
  • 4:31 - 4:35
maybe some professors will not do
any kind of modifications, that would
  • 4:35 - 4:37
    depend upon the professor, okay?
  • 4:37 - 4:41
So, I tried, during this whole last week—
  • 4:41 - 4:42
I didn't have Spring Break, 'cause
  • 4:42 - 4:44
I started working on this right away.
  • 4:44 - 4:50
I really wanted to just make things very
simple for y'all, and, uh, doable.
  • 4:50 - 4:54
I didn't change the assignments, per se,
but I just wanted something that you
  • 4:54 - 4:57
    could follow along without me
seeing my face and reminding you.
  • 4:57 - 5:02
So, um, I wanna begin also too with, uh,
  • 5:03 - 5:06
    I can understand the anxiety
    of what you're feeling.
  • 5:06 - 5:10
Um, my concerns are a couple of areas.
  • 5:10 - 5:14
    One, are students who continue
    battling procrastination,
  • 5:14 - 5:16
    that are putting things off
    to the last minute.
  • 5:16 - 5:18
Students who fail to turn in assignments.
  • 5:18 - 5:20
Students who fail to reach out to me.
  • 5:20 - 5:23
Um, they're coming to class, but they're
    not turning anything in.
  • 5:23 - 5:26
If you fall into any one
    of those categories,
  • 5:26 - 5:29
this is the time for you to step up.
  • 5:29 - 5:35
And really, um, dig in, and try to finish
the last 7 weeks of the course
  • 5:35 - 5:39
And so, uh, again, this means
    sticking to deadlines.
  • 5:39 - 5:41
This means working ahead of time.
  • 5:41 - 5:45
I know our situations have changed for a
lot of us, especially in the job arena.
  • 5:45 - 5:47
We may have to take another job.
  • 5:47 - 5:49
Maybe our job has ended, etc.
  • 5:49 - 5:53
    But please know the expectations
    in terms of completing assignments
  • 5:53 - 5:58
    and completing them complete complete,
    not halfway, and on time,
  • 5:58 - 6:00
    is still expected from you.
  • 6:00 - 6:05
And the only reason for that is I want
you all to move on forward from this class.
  • 6:05 - 6:08
Don't make this drag out longer than
you have to is what I'm saying.
  • 6:08 - 6:11
    The other, the other concern
    that I have are
  • 6:11 - 6:14
    students that do not have
    access to technology.
  • 6:14 - 6:19
So, if you're just relying on your
cell phone, I'm gonna tell you right now,
  • 6:19 - 6:23
you may have some challenges because
    Blackboard sometimes has glitches
  • 6:23 - 6:27
    and technical issues, especially with
the display or video such as this.
  • 6:27 - 6:31
On Blackboard, when you use, sorry,
when you use a cell phone or tablet.
  • 6:31 - 6:33
So just kind of keep that in mind.
  • 6:33 - 6:37
It's not that you can't do it, it's just
that you're going to have to allow
  • 6:37 - 6:40
yourself more time for those kinds
    of weird things to happen.
  • 6:40 - 6:41
    Okay?
  • 6:41 - 6:42
So make sure you keep that in mind.
  • 6:42 - 6:46
    I would really, strongly recommend
    a laptop or a desktop.
  • 6:46 - 6:48
    Uh, Apple works pretty good.
  • 6:48 - 6:52
If you're not an Apple fan, you're
a PC fan, it's probably even better.
  • 6:52 - 6:54
I'm actually using, I'm an Apple person,
  • 6:54 - 6:57
    but I'm actually using
    my husband's PC laptop
  • 6:57 - 7:00
because I couldn't do Collaborate on Apple.
  • 7:01 - 7:05
So, my, point 1 for my husband
because he's always ragging on me
  • 7:05 - 7:07
    to get a, uh, PC.
  • 7:07 - 7:12
So anyway, so um, so If you see me
    kinda like getting frustrated
  • 7:12 - 7:15
    because I'm not used to
    his computer, his laptop.
  • 7:15 - 7:17
    So anyway, sorry about that.
  • 7:17 - 7:20
So I'm not used to his laptop,
  • 7:20 - 7:22
so if you see me kind of
    stumbling, it means that I,
  • 7:22 - 7:24
    I know what I'm doing I just don't
know how to work his laptop.
  • 7:24 - 7:29
So anyway, um, just be aware
    of that if you're counting.
  • 7:29 - 7:32
The other thing too is if any
of your classes, such as this one—
  • 7:32 - 7:36
I'm not gonna do a lot of videos of this
class in terms of me sharing a video
  • 7:36 - 7:38
uh, with y'all like I'm doing right now.
  • 7:38 - 7:41
This will be probably the longest video
for the rest of the semester.
  • 7:41 - 7:43
I may do a couple more,
  • 7:43 - 7:46
if I need to send you an urgent message
    or something to that extent.
  • 7:46 - 7:48
But most of the time time,
    I think this will be
  • 7:48 - 7:50
the longest one I ever send to y'all.
  • 7:50 - 7:55
Um, uh, be aware that other
professors may use it a lot, the video.
  • 7:55 - 7:57
    It will eat your battery.
  • 7:57 - 8:01
So, uh, on your laptops, cell phones.
  • 8:01 - 8:06
    I tried watching a one-hour training
    online using Collaborate,
  • 8:06 - 8:07
uh, what we're using right now,
  • 8:07 - 8:12
what you're looking at right now, and
my Apple was at 100% and then by one hour
  • 8:12 - 8:14
it was down to like 20%.
  • 8:14 - 8:17
    And, I did it purposely,
    I didn't hook it up,
  • 8:17 - 8:18
    because I wanted to see.
  • 8:18 - 8:23
So, yeah, it, it does eat up your battery,
so be very aware of that.
  • 8:23 - 8:27
Um, so make sure you are using those
things or cell phone to watch videos
  • 8:27 - 8:30
    of your professors on
    this Collaborate Ultra,
  • 8:30 - 8:31
that you are plugged in somewhere,
  • 8:31 - 8:34
because it will kill your battery.
  • 8:34 - 8:37
Again, like I mentioned I'm very concerned
about students that don't have access
  • 8:37 - 8:38
    to internet or WiFi.
  • 8:38 - 8:41
    This is gonna be the
    biggest challenge for you.
  • 8:41 - 8:44
Before when I taught online I
could always tell my students cafes,
  • 8:44 - 8:47
go to the library, go to ACC campus.
  • 8:47 - 8:50
We can't do that right now,
    at least for a while.
  • 8:50 - 8:55
Uh, all of us, as you know, are
under lockdown, so I want to stress,
  • 8:55 - 8:58
that I do not want this to discourage you,
  • 8:58 - 9:01
but I do need for you to reach out to me
  • 9:01 - 9:04
as all your professors are gonna want
    the same thing from you.
  • 9:04 - 9:09
Please, let us know, what is going on
    with you technology-wise.
  • 9:09 - 9:10
    What issues are you having?
  • 9:10 - 9:14
    I am not a technical guru;
that is not my area of expertise.
  • 9:14 - 9:18
However we do have the ACC Help Desk and,
uh, they will probably be backed up,
  • 9:18 - 9:21
but they will get to you if you
    have some kind of question.
  • 9:21 - 9:26
But let your professor know if you can't
    upload, download, reload, whatever.
  • 9:26 - 9:33
Any weirdness is happening with Blackboard,
uh, let us know, so that that way we
  • 9:33 - 9:35
know, we know something's going on.
  • 9:35 - 9:40
Uh, and you will need to contact the
Help Desk to solve it quickly.
  • 9:40 - 9:41
Do not let it drag on.
  • 9:41 - 9:44
I will, for me, I have an
    alternate way for you all
  • 9:44 - 9:47
to submit things in worst-case scenario.
  • 9:47 - 9:49
But we will deal with that if
    you should have trouble.
  • 9:49 - 9:52
But for me I've done this
with my students in the past.
  • 9:52 - 9:56
Those who've had issues with Wi-Fi
that failed at their home or whatever,
  • 9:56 - 10:00
internet, um, they, I, I, we,
we could still get your assignment in,
  • 10:00 - 10:01
let me put it that way.
  • 10:01 - 10:03
But anyway, for your other professors,
  • 10:03 - 10:05
they might be a little bit
    more of a challenge.
  • 10:05 - 10:08
With me, I can, I can work around that.
  • 10:08 - 10:10
    But let me know, okay?
  • 10:10 - 10:12
And in advance too, don't wait,
don't wait til the day it's due,
  • 10:12 - 10:14
    the assignment and I
    had a technical glitch.
  • 10:14 - 10:15
Let me know ahead of time, you know.
  • 10:15 - 10:18
So, um, those are the ones that
    I'm kind of worried about,
  • 10:18 - 10:23
is those students that really don't
have that technology and also too,
  • 10:23 - 10:26
I will work with you, I'm gonna show you,
we're gonna do a little tour
  • 10:26 - 10:30
of our updated course room and how
    you could submit assignments and
  • 10:30 - 10:33
    what you see when you
    open up your Blackboard.
  • 10:33 - 10:34
    Okay.
  • 10:34 - 10:38
    But, again, uh, I'm concerned
    about my procrastinators, my,
  • 10:38 - 10:41
    uh, not submitting anything.
  • 10:41 - 10:46
Uh, you guys are at a high risk and
you've gotta, uh, please know that,
  • 10:46 - 10:50
and really step up if you are
    wanting to pass the course.
  • 10:50 - 10:51
    Okay?
  • 10:51 - 10:55
Um, also too, the ones that have
technology issues are my concern as well.
  • 10:55 - 10:57
    And again, I'll work with
    you on that as well.
  • 10:57 - 11:02
So again, this, this, chat, this video,
uh, sorry it's gonna be kinda long,
  • 11:02 - 11:04
I apologize for that in advance.
  • 11:04 - 11:06
But I really, I know we haven't talked
for almost two weeks and I want
  • 11:06 - 11:09
to try to give you as much information
    as I can tonight before
  • 11:09 - 11:11
I go into surgery on Friday.
  • 11:11 - 11:16
So, uh, the first thing that I
want to do is, I want to, uh,
  • 11:16 - 11:21
show you our Blackboard course room.
  • 11:22 - 11:24
    If you hear that noise,
I have my fan on because,
  • 11:24 - 11:27
like I said it's super, super, um, hot.
  • 11:27 - 11:31
And, uh, I can't get anybody to come out
and check my air conditioner because
  • 11:31 - 11:34
of what's going on, so, yeah.
  • 11:34 - 11:36
    That's, it's something else.
  • 11:36 - 11:39
So let me just kind of figure
    out where I'm at here.
  • 11:39 - 11:40
    Okay.
  • 11:40 - 11:42
So I want to show you this screen.
  • 11:42 - 11:44
I'm gonna take you to this screen and,
  • 11:44 - 11:47
    and this, I'm just kinda
    learning this myself.
  • 11:48 - 11:49
    Bear with me.
  • 11:49 - 11:51
So let me see if I can find that.
  • 11:51 - 11:53
    That location we built.
  • 11:55 - 11:59
Let me see here my entire screen
    will that be it maybe?
  • 12:02 - 12:05
I want to show you this screen
but let me see if I can get it.
  • 12:08 - 12:10
I think that's what I need to do.
  • 12:12 - 12:13
    Bear with me.
  • 12:13 - 12:14
    Yay, I found it!
  • 12:14 - 12:15
    Okay.
  • 12:16 - 12:19
So I'm gonna kinda shrink down here.
  • 12:20 - 12:21
    Yes.
  • 12:22 - 12:25
You should be able to now
    see what I'm looking at.
  • 12:29 - 12:34
    You're more than welcome to
    log in to your, um,
  • 12:34 - 12:38
    you know into, your, uh,
    into your own Blackboard.
  • 12:39 - 12:40
    and follow along.
  • 12:40 - 12:44
    Because you can rewatch
this video, uh, if you need to.
  • 12:45 - 12:47
But I first want to walk you through.
  • 12:47 - 12:50
So, you will see that again, you know
how to get into your Blackboard.
  • 12:50 - 12:53
    We've done that this semester.
  • 12:53 - 12:54
    So, no big deal.
  • 12:54 - 12:57
I want to show you, there's
    some announcements here.
  • 12:57 - 12:59
    Now again, just keep
    reading those announcements.
  • 12:59 - 13:04
I will, uh, every once in a while
    put up some announcements
  • 13:04 - 13:07
as I did when we were,
    uh, face-to-face, right?
  • 13:07 - 13:09
So I did put up a couple of
    announcements, and some of you,
  • 13:09 - 13:11
most of you, already read those.
  • 13:11 - 13:13
    Uh, technical support.
  • 13:13 - 13:16
Now this, so you click on here.
  • 13:16 - 13:18
    I hope.
  • 13:18 - 13:20
Sorry, my light went out on me.
  • 13:20 - 13:21
    I told you.
  • 13:21 - 13:23
    Let's see here.
  • 13:24 - 13:25
Okay, let me try that here.
  • 13:27 - 13:32
If you look at this right here, yeah.
  • 13:35 - 13:36
    I hope I can show y'all.
  • 13:36 - 13:39
    Technical questions, technical support.
  • 13:39 - 13:45
I really want you all to take time
to look through this particular, uh,
  • 13:45 - 13:48
some of you may have already done it,
and that's wonderful for those of you
  • 13:48 - 13:49
    that are quick to go.
  • 13:49 - 13:53
I really want you to go through these
    technical questions and determine
  • 13:53 - 13:58
if there're issues that you may have
with the technology that you have.
  • 13:58 - 14:02
Uh, if you do, here is the, ACC Help Desk.
  • 14:02 - 14:04
And you're gonna click on there
and it will take you directly
  • 14:04 - 14:06
    over to their website.
  • 14:06 - 14:08
And you can definitely contact them
    and work with them.
  • 14:08 - 14:10
    So if you have trouble,
    you don't have Java,
  • 14:10 - 14:15
or any of those kind of um, of,
    what do you call them,
  • 14:15 - 14:19
software or whatever you call them,
to work with their, they work with you.
  • 14:19 - 14:22
And again, I'm not going to have a
whole lot of heavy things in this
  • 14:22 - 14:25
    particular course, but Blackboard
    does require some support.
  • 14:25 - 14:29
And so again, depending on your other
classes you may, make sure you have
  • 14:29 - 14:31
    Adobe for instance, etc.
  • 14:31 - 14:35
    Okay, so, my professor contact
    information is right in here.
  • 14:35 - 14:36
    It is still the same.
  • 14:36 - 14:39
You know how to text me,
how to get ahold of me,
  • 14:39 - 14:41
except I don't have office hours anymore.
  • 14:41 - 14:44
I don't have an office, obviously,
    we're not on campus.
  • 14:44 - 14:47
So, um, just be aware about that.
  • 14:47 - 14:50
That I do not have office,
    or office hours,
  • 14:50 - 14:52
but I am at the same number.
  • 14:52 - 14:55
You can call me, let me know
who you are, that kind of thing.
  • 14:55 - 14:57
    You also have the syllabus.
  • 14:57 - 14:58
    The same thing again.
  • 14:58 - 15:01
And here is, you're not going to see it,
but I'm gonna open it up,
  • 15:01 - 15:06
so that ya'll can see it in case you
go back and review this video.
  • 15:06 - 15:08
    Here's Collaborate Ultra.
  • 15:08 - 15:13
Now, here's what you're gonna click on
when you're gonna watch a video.
  • 15:13 - 15:17
And I, I'm gonna stop it right here,
because I don't want it to go any further.
  • 15:17 - 15:21
But you will click on here and
you will log in to see this video, okay?
  • 15:21 - 15:24
And I'll talk a little bit
    more about that because
  • 15:24 - 15:26
there's a code I gotta send you all
  • 15:26 - 15:29
and you will be able to access that video.
  • 15:29 - 15:31
    The next thing, student tools.
  • 15:31 - 15:34
And I'm gonna show that link because
you're not going to see it right now
  • 15:34 - 15:36
    because I have it hidden.
  • 15:36 - 15:39
Now, student tools, what I have
    done with student tools, sorry,
  • 15:39 - 15:42
what I have done with student tools,
    uh, again let me go
  • 15:42 - 15:44
into the view of the student.
  • 15:44 - 15:47
I'm looking at it from the
    view of the professor.
  • 15:49 - 15:51
This is what you're seeing right now.
  • 15:51 - 15:52
    Student tools.
  • 15:52 - 15:56
So again you have your announcements,
    your calendar, your, your,
  • 15:56 - 16:00
I guess the main thing I want to look at
is your grades and your attendance.
  • 16:00 - 16:02
It's right in here in your tools, okay?
  • 16:02 - 16:05
We're gonna talk a little bit more
about grades in just a second.
  • 16:05 - 16:08
So let me exit out of here.
  • 16:08 - 16:10
    Let me, [indistinct] out.
  • 16:10 - 16:12
And again it's going to go back to my view.
  • 16:12 - 16:17
OER textbooks, same place, same area,
don't have to worry about that.
  • 16:17 - 16:22
However, if you look at this OER textbook
link, for those of you or most of you,
  • 16:22 - 16:25
    when you went to Blackboard
    and you're trying
  • 16:25 - 16:28
to access, you know, the OER textbook,
  • 16:28 - 16:33
a lot of times, you may find that,
um, gotta open up in here,
  • 16:33 - 16:41
you may find that, um, sorry, you may
find that you get thrown out
  • 16:41 - 16:43
    or that there's a glitch.
  • 16:43 - 16:48
So there is a way for you to click on
here, and you can go out of Blackboard
  • 16:48 - 16:51
and still access your OER textbook.
  • 16:51 - 16:54
So if you ever have any weirdness
    that happens, while you're reading
  • 16:54 - 16:58
your OER textbook while you're inside
Blackboard, you can go back over here
  • 16:58 - 17:02
and pull up that link right here and it
will take you to outside of Blackboard.
  • 17:02 - 17:02
    Okay?
  • 17:02 - 17:04
    And it saves everything.
  • 17:04 - 17:04
    So.
  • 17:04 - 17:06
Okay, so, I'm gonna scroll down here.
  • 17:06 - 17:09
The next thing, you're not gonna see this
because I'm gonna open it now.
  • 17:11 - 17:15
Here's the, the meat of this video, right?
  • 17:15 - 17:17
    The most information.
  • 17:17 - 17:18
    We're gonna click on here.
  • 17:19 - 17:22
    Um, this one we're gonna
    start with chapter 15.
  • 17:22 - 17:26
We only have 15-16-17 and 18, okay, to go.
  • 17:26 - 17:30
That's we've got four chapters left
    aside from the other assignments.
  • 17:30 - 17:32
And I'm gonna get more into that
    in a little while, okay?
  • 17:32 - 17:36
I am really wanting to give
    you the grand tour.
  • 17:37 - 17:42
And so we're gonna look at chapter 15,
    planning for your activities.
  • 17:42 - 17:44
    You will see the deadline.
  • 17:44 - 17:49
So everything, all the activities and the
    assignments associated with Chapter 15
  • 17:49 - 17:51
    will be due April 14th.
  • 17:51 - 17:52
    Okay?
  • 17:52 - 17:54
That is your next big date.
  • 17:55 - 18:01
Now, can I just say that every, you have
until midnight on the 14th, 11:59 pm
  • 18:01 - 18:05
to be precise, to turn everything in.
  • 18:05 - 18:10
Make sure you do not, I repeat,
    wait to the last minute.
  • 18:10 - 18:16
The thing with Blackboard, folks, most,
most schools in the United States
  • 18:16 - 18:18
    are going to Blackboard.
  • 18:18 - 18:19
    Okay?
  • 18:19 - 18:24
Most schools K-12 and higher, we have
Canvas, it's like a Blackboard, but most
  • 18:24 - 18:25
    are using Blackboard.
  • 18:25 - 18:29
So if you've got students who are like
    yourself procrastinators and want to
  • 18:29 - 18:33
submit an assignment at 11:59, imagine
millions of students at the same time
  • 18:33 - 18:38
trying to submit, you run the
risk of it crashing on you.
  • 18:38 - 18:40
That, what, you know technology, right?
  • 18:40 - 18:43
    It's convenient and it's great
    but it, it's not,
  • 18:43 - 18:46
it's not 100% foolproof, so just make sure
  • 18:46 - 18:51
that you're not pushing your luck by
waiting to 11:59, because you run a
  • 18:51 - 18:58
real good risk of it not going through,
    crashing, acting weird, etc, okay?
  • 18:59 - 19:03
There is a chance that Blackboard can
crash, but we professors get notified
  • 19:03 - 19:05
    and our Blackboard will crash.
  • 19:05 - 19:10
So, uh, just know that we will let you
know if there's something going on
  • 19:10 - 19:12
    in regards to that.
  • 19:13 - 19:17
So, if you look on here, it, it
    tells you about Activity 1.
  • 19:17 - 19:20
    You're gonna read your
    OER chapter in textbook.
  • 19:20 - 19:22
So you're gonna read your chapter,
    you're gonna read chapters now,
  • 19:22 - 19:25
I've taken out the power points
    because that's for lecture and
  • 19:25 - 19:27
    I'm not gonna be lecturing.
  • 19:27 - 19:29
    So, um, you can
    read the chapter.
  • 19:29 - 19:31
    And then you're going to
    review the presentation
  • 19:31 - 19:33
on FOCUS 2 and you're gonna find that.
  • 19:33 - 19:35
    So you kinda scroll down.
  • 19:35 - 19:37
I'll let you in your own time
    read all of that stuff.
  • 19:37 - 19:41
But let's just go down here and it kind
of tells you what you're going to get
  • 19:41 - 19:43
    out of chapter 15.
  • 19:43 - 19:45
And then as you keep going down it tells
  • 19:45 - 19:48
    you the first activity
    you're gonna read.
  • 19:48 - 19:50
Second activity you're gonna, uh, get the
  • 19:50 - 19:53
    Career Exploration Presentation
    and Directions.
  • 19:53 - 19:55
You're gonna click on here, okay?
  • 19:55 - 19:57
    And it's going to download.
  • 19:57 - 20:00
Now if you have any issues where you can't
download it or something, let me know,
  • 20:00 - 20:03
I can try and do a PDF file
of this to send to you.
  • 20:03 - 20:07
And I may, I may just go ahead
and do that with a PDF file.
  • 20:07 - 20:09
But, we'll, I'll see in just a second.
  • 20:09 - 20:12
But anyway, you click on that, and
it'll open up to a Power Point.
  • 20:12 - 20:13
    Okay?
  • 20:13 - 20:17
And that will give you the
    presentation on FOCUS 2.
  • 20:17 - 20:22
Now, um, I want to say something
    before I forget,
  • 20:22 - 20:24
and I know it's a lot of information
    that I'm talking about.
  • 20:24 - 20:27
So again I'm recording this video
and you can more than welcome to
  • 20:27 - 20:30
go back and listen to it again and again.
  • 20:30 - 20:35
With FOCUS 2, if for some of you
    who have taken EDUC1300 before,
  • 20:35 - 20:39
and you failed it, and this is your
second or third time taking the class,
  • 20:39 - 20:42
not with me, but with any
    of the other professors,
  • 20:42 - 20:45
    you might have already
    done a FOCUS 2 assignment
  • 20:45 - 20:50
and you may run into problems,
with, um, setting up your user name,
  • 20:50 - 20:52
    or you forgotten your
    user name or password.
  • 20:52 - 20:56
There is a way to reset that,
but if you're still having problems,
  • 20:56 - 21:02
I want to suggest you go talk to a,
uh, your AOS adviser and let them
  • 21:02 - 21:06
know you're having trouble logging in
and, uh, they will reset it for you.
  • 21:06 - 21:10
But that requires you to get
working on this ahead of time,
  • 21:10 - 21:11
    because you don't know.
  • 21:11 - 21:15
Okay, so then the next activity
is FOCUS 2 the actual assignment.
  • 21:15 - 21:18
You're gonna download it right in
here and you'll start working on it.
  • 21:18 - 21:23
I don't mind if you write out this
assignment, just as long as you've
  • 21:23 - 21:24
    got very nice handwriting.
  • 21:24 - 21:26
    You can print.
  • 21:26 - 21:30
But if you have handwriting issues,
may I suggest you type out your answers.
  • 21:30 - 21:34
You don't have to type it on the form,
you can type it in a Word document
  • 21:34 - 21:36
    and just submit that.
  • 21:36 - 21:39
Like number 1, type out the
    question and then the answer.
  • 21:39 - 21:40
    Okay?
  • 21:40 - 21:44
And then you can watch some
YouTube videos when you click on here.
  • 21:44 - 21:48
    Again, you're gonna be sent
    directly to the YouTube video.
  • 21:49 - 21:52
    Activity 5, ah,
    Journal Assignments, right?
  • 21:52 - 21:54
So, on here, the journal assignments—
  • 21:54 - 21:59
I made some modifications to that and
I'll talk about that in just a little bit.
  • 21:59 - 22:03
But we will not do 7 entries for
    the second round of journals.
  • 22:03 - 22:06
We're only gonna do 2 and
each one will be worth 25 points.
  • 22:06 - 22:08
So they don't lose the value.
  • 22:08 - 22:11
    Remember round 1 the journal
    was worth 50 points.
  • 22:11 - 22:14
Round 2 will be worth 50 points
as well, except in Round 2, you're
  • 22:14 - 22:17
only gonna have two journal entries.
  • 22:17 - 22:21
For those of you who are working ahead
and you've already done your journals,
  • 22:21 - 22:22
    please submit 'em.
  • 22:22 - 22:24
I do not do this, okay?
  • 22:24 - 22:29
But for those of you that have not,
then follow directions here on Blackboard.
  • 22:29 - 22:34
I want to click on one of these links
because I kind of want to show you, uh,
  • 22:34 - 22:36
let me click on the journal assignment.
  • 22:36 - 22:39
    Anything that has an underline,
    you're gonna click on.
  • 22:39 - 22:40
    Okay?
  • 22:40 - 22:45
So, you will see the due date
and you will see the points.
  • 22:45 - 22:47
    Remember this
    is just one journal.
  • 22:47 - 22:47
    Twenty-five points.
  • 22:47 - 22:50
    You're gonna have another journal
and it'll be worth 25 points
  • 22:50 - 22:52
for a total of 50 points, okay?
  • 22:52 - 22:54
And that's gonna be Round 2.
  • 22:54 - 22:59
So, you will see here where it says
write submission, this does give you
  • 22:59 - 23:02
the option you want for those of you
who do not have a clue about online,
  • 23:02 - 23:04
have never taken an online course.
  • 23:04 - 23:07
You can write out your journal
    and submit it that way.
  • 23:08 - 23:12
    But, especially those that don't
have Word at home, but let me suggest,
  • 23:12 - 23:13
    let me tell you this,
  • 23:13 - 23:16
    the problem with that is,
if you get up or get distracted,
  • 23:16 - 23:20
it may log you out and you've lost it.
  • 23:20 - 23:22
So if you know you're gonna sit down and
  • 23:22 - 23:24
    you're gonna finish it and
    make sure you save it,
  • 23:24 - 23:27
you may wanna copy and paste
it to some kind of a,
  • 23:27 - 23:29
you know a, some kind of a,
    not if you don't
  • 23:29 - 23:33
have Word, but maybe some kind of other,
    uh, software where you wanna
  • 23:33 - 23:36
    you know, spellcheck and a
    ll that kinda good stuff.
  • 23:36 - 23:37
But I would be saving this.
  • 23:37 - 23:41
I would not be leaving it open and walking
away because it can close down on you
  • 23:41 - 23:45
and you lost it, so, uh,
    be aware about that.
  • 23:45 - 23:49
Again, this is for students that really,
are gonna sit down and they're gonna,
  • 23:49 - 23:52
they're gonna spell, copy and paste it,
and they're gonna spellcheck and wrote
  • 23:52 - 23:54
within 30 minutes or an hour kinda thing.
  • 23:54 - 23:56
    Uh, I would write it.
  • 23:56 - 23:59
But if you don't like that, then I would
just go ahead and type it in a Word
  • 23:59 - 24:03
document like you've been doing, or
any other kind of software that you use
  • 24:03 - 24:05
    for writing out documents.
  • 24:05 - 24:08
And I would just go browsing
through my computer and upload it.
  • 24:08 - 24:13
And once you browse through your computer,
you, you can look to see where, um,
  • 24:13 - 24:15
you know, you're you're document is.
  • 24:15 - 24:17
You can, you don't, like what you do.
  • 24:17 - 24:18
You click on it, you attach it.
  • 24:18 - 24:20
    All that kinda good stuff.
  • 24:20 - 24:21
And then you're gonna hit submit.
  • 24:21 - 24:22
    Okay?
  • 24:24 - 24:26
    Alrighty.
  • 24:28 - 24:31
And if you're ever unsure, you're
    like, did it got through?
  • 24:31 - 24:33
    Text me, call me.
  • 24:34 - 24:35
    I'll look it up.
  • 24:35 - 24:40
You know, don't just assume because,
you know, technology is one of the great
  • 24:40 - 24:43
um, can be a headache, right?
  • 24:43 - 24:44
    Okay.
  • 24:44 - 24:46
    So I'm just gonna back
    over here and cancel this
  • 24:46 - 24:48
    and jump back over here.
  • 24:48 - 24:52
Okay, so, um, each of your chapters
are going to be called like
  • 24:52 - 24:54
    "Chapter 16: Planning," you
    know, that kind of thing.
  • 24:54 - 24:57
    You get activities and I'll
    show you the next module.
  • 24:57 - 24:59
    Let me just stress this.
  • 24:59 - 25:04
So, the first one is due April 14th
    with all its little activities.
  • 25:04 - 25:08
    Make sure that you do
    adhere to the deadline.
  • 25:08 - 25:13
This is gonna be part of your
    attendance and participation grade.
  • 25:13 - 25:17
I'm not gonna have you posting to
discussion boards or anything like that.
  • 25:17 - 25:21
    But, uh, because some professors
do that to count that as your attendance.
  • 25:21 - 25:24
I'm going to look at you
    completing your activities, okay?
  • 25:24 - 25:26
    And your participation grade.
  • 25:26 - 25:28
    Remember we had the
    library assignment, okay?
  • 25:28 - 25:31
    These activities are gonna not
    replace the library assignment,
  • 25:31 - 25:32
    but they're gonna replace
  • 25:32 - 25:35
    the career portfolio because
    we're not gonna do that.
  • 25:35 - 25:38
And some other assignment I had
for you all, I forgot what it was,
  • 25:38 - 25:40
    but it's gonna replace that.
  • 25:40 - 25:42
    So, make sure you do
    these activities because
  • 25:42 - 25:46
it will count toward your attendance
    and participation grade.
  • 25:46 - 25:48
And make sure you do it on time.
  • 25:48 - 25:51
The next thing I want to say,
make sure you do it on time, because
  • 25:51 - 25:54
    if, when this deadline passes,
    this module has closed.
  • 25:54 - 25:55
You cannot get back to it.
  • 25:55 - 25:57
    It's finished.
  • 25:57 - 26:01
    And, uh, whatever you
    didn't turn in, it's a zero, okay?
  • 26:01 - 26:02
So be very, very careful of that.
  • 26:02 - 26:06
So I'm gonna take you to the next,
    uh, little module here.
  • 26:06 - 26:10
I'm gonna show the link because
you're not going to see it right now.
  • 26:11 - 26:14
Let me just kinda scroll down again.
  • 26:15 - 26:18
Now you see, I, I, skipped chapter 16.
  • 26:18 - 26:20
    I'm gonna, It's gonna come after 17.
  • 26:20 - 26:22
And it was because, that's the
way it was in the syllabus
  • 26:22 - 26:26
    and i didn't want ya'll to, um,
    I didn't want to change
  • 26:26 - 26:29
a whole lot of things because
    I know it's overwhelming,
  • 26:29 - 26:31
    the transition in itself.
  • 26:31 - 26:35
So we're gonna jump to chapter 17,
    diversity and cultural competencen—
  • 26:35 - 26:38
    competency, uh, unit lesson plan.
  • 26:38 - 26:41
    And you click on there
the same thing, like chapter 15.
  • 26:41 - 26:45
You're gonna have, uh, you know,
    your activities listed.
  • 26:45 - 26:48
This deadline for everything is April 21st.
  • 26:48 - 26:52
So, every week, if you notice the
date if you look at a calendar,
  • 26:52 - 26:56
    every week something is going
to be due from here on out, okay?
  • 26:56 - 26:58
    until we finish the semester.
  • 26:58 - 27:02
So, um, you will see that and again, uh,
you're going to click on these
  • 27:02 - 27:04
    that have lines, you're
    gonna click because
  • 27:04 - 27:06
it's gonna take you to somewhere.
  • 27:06 - 27:07
    And there is activity 3.
  • 27:07 - 27:09
    Your journal assignment again.
  • 27:09 - 27:10
    Same thing like chapter 15.
  • 27:10 - 27:13
And this will be your last
    journal entry, worth 25 points.
  • 27:13 - 27:17
    Together number 15 and 17
    will be 50 points.
  • 27:17 - 27:19
And that's the end of that.
  • 27:19 - 27:23
    Again, that's for those students
that have not begun their journals.
  • 27:23 - 27:26
    Those who have already
    done them, submit those.
  • 27:28 - 27:30
So then the next thing I'm
gonna show this link, 'cause there,
  • 27:30 - 27:33
    these are hidden links here.
  • 27:33 - 27:38
This, the next one your gonna have after
chapter 17, is managing your mental
  • 27:38 - 27:40
    and physical health.
  • 27:40 - 27:42
All the activities are gonna be listed.
  • 27:42 - 27:43
It, it, it's the same thing.
  • 27:43 - 27:47
    There's, there's nothing that I changed
    or made too different.
  • 27:47 - 27:49
And so again, you've got April 28th.
  • 27:49 - 27:54
If you notice, the last, uh, unit activity,
    everything's due on the 21st.
  • 27:54 - 27:59
You've got 7 days to turn
    everything for chapter 16.
  • 27:59 - 28:01
    And the activities are light,
    they're not heavy.
  • 28:01 - 28:05
So it just means you just, maybe,
    maybe two hours tops.
  • 28:05 - 28:08
    depending how much
    interruptions you have, uh.
  • 28:08 - 28:11
It shouldn't take you very long
    to do those activities.
  • 28:11 - 28:12
    Okay?
  • 28:12 - 28:16
    And again, the next and
    final chapter for the course,
  • 28:16 - 28:19
is going to be chapter 18, oh, sorry,
  • 28:19 - 28:25
    chapter 18, which is managing
your money, and same thing, guys,
  • 28:27 - 28:30
next due date May 5th before midnight.
  • 28:31 - 28:33
And this one has a self-change
    project to that.
  • 28:33 - 28:34
    Okay?
  • 28:34 - 28:36
    So, don't worry.
  • 28:36 - 28:41
Like, for example, chapter 17, uh,
I think that, chapter 16, sorry,
  • 28:41 - 28:43
there's your learning profile in there.
  • 28:43 - 28:45
So all of the major assignments,
    they're gonna be, they're
  • 28:45 - 28:48
    they're gonna, they're gonna
    fit into each unit plan.
  • 28:48 - 28:52
So that's the next major assignment,
    the learning profile paper.
  • 28:52 - 28:55
    Uh, that's like worth
    100 points and all that.
  • 28:55 - 28:57
That's gonna be in chapter 16.
  • 28:57 - 29:01
And, in, uh, chapter 18, will be
    the self-change project.
  • 29:01 - 29:05
And then, uh, chapter, uh, 15
    will be the FOCUS 2.
  • 29:05 - 29:10
    So all activities counting towards
    attendance and, and presen,
  • 29:10 - 29:14
    uh, attendance and, uh, participation
  • 29:14 - 29:20
and, uh, any major assignments they're
all gonna be inside one of those chapters.
  • 29:20 - 29:25
Okay, so, once you read it, you go through
it, you know, you complete everything,
  • 29:25 - 29:28
    you not only completed toward
    your attendance and participation,
  • 29:28 - 29:32
    you've already completed towards
    the major assignments, okay?
  • 29:32 - 29:35
So, I didn't want to separate a lot of
that out, I just wanted to
  • 29:35 - 29:37
build it into each of these units.
  • 29:37 - 29:37
    Okay?
  • 29:38 - 29:43
So again, you will no longer see this once
the date has passed, it will close off.
  • 29:43 - 29:44
    Close off.
  • 29:44 - 29:45
    Close off.
  • 29:45 - 29:46
    Each time the date passes.
  • 29:46 - 29:47
    Okay?
  • 29:47 - 29:51
Now, the next thing that I,
because I'm still working on this,
  • 29:51 - 29:54
by the time you see this video,
    they'll be ready to go.
  • 29:54 - 29:58
Um, you see your co-curricular assignment,
    a lot of you have
  • 29:58 - 30:02
been really, um, calling me and
    saying "I'm worried about this,"
  • 30:02 - 30:03
    you know, "what happened?"
  • 30:03 - 30:07
Of course, the campus closed, and
now we are on complete lockdown
  • 30:07 - 30:09
from the campus until the 13th of April.
  • 30:09 - 30:13
    So, everything has been cancelled,
even then, even if it were to reopen
  • 30:13 - 30:17
uh, we wouldn't go back to the classroom,
    we're gonna continue the rest
  • 30:17 - 30:20
    of the semester uh, online.
  • 30:20 - 30:23
So, you know, we're not going to see each
other anymore in the class, okay?
  • 30:23 - 30:28
Uh, and, in terms of the campuses
being open, it will be til April 13th and
  • 30:28 - 30:30
    that might still be limited.
  • 30:30 - 30:34
And it may not open on the 13th, depending
on all this, uh, stuff that's going on.
  • 30:34 - 30:40
Okay, so, all what ACC, ACC, excuse me,
    has done is cancelled everything
  • 30:40 - 30:42
for the rest of the semester.
  • 30:42 - 30:46
So, for those of you who did have a chance
but you just haven't written it out
  • 30:46 - 30:47
    write it and submit it.
  • 30:47 - 30:49
You have, you know, get that over with.
  • 30:49 - 30:51
And remember you've got until May 5th.
  • 30:51 - 30:55
But, I would just go ahead and knock it
out if you can, get credit for that.
  • 30:55 - 30:57
For the rest of you that
    didn't get a chance,
  • 30:57 - 30:58
and I get it because you've gotta work
  • 30:58 - 31:00
and you just didn't have the time, etc.,
  • 31:00 - 31:04
you can choose one of these, uh,
    one of these things here,
  • 31:04 - 31:07
choices here, click on the website,
    I've got the questions,
  • 31:07 - 31:09
    everything, the assignment
    is still the same.
  • 31:09 - 31:10
You're gonna answer the same question,
  • 31:10 - 31:12
    everything on the test or
    the assignment by the way.
  • 31:12 - 31:15
So, um, again, some of you have it,
    some of you don't.
  • 31:15 - 31:17
    It's, it's here.
  • 31:17 - 31:21
So, again, if you decided to go
to the website for academic coaches,
  • 31:21 - 31:26
    or experiential learning, or, uh,
    career services, or money management,
  • 31:26 - 31:29
    whatever you choose, you're just
gonna do the assignment for one of those.
  • 31:29 - 31:32
You're gonna explore the website, okay?
  • 31:32 - 31:36
In an ideal situation, you would be
    attending those events because
  • 31:36 - 31:39
    all of these offices sponsor
    on campus events.
  • 31:39 - 31:42
But unfortunately, uh, you know, the situation.
  • 31:42 - 31:46
So, the next thing that I'm here,
    I'm gonna open up again,
  • 31:46 - 31:49
you're gonna see is, extra credit.
  • 31:50 - 31:52
My computer is getting super hot.
  • 31:52 - 31:56
    Whenever your video is,
    uh, it gets super hot.
  • 31:56 - 31:58
So be careful on that too.
  • 31:58 - 32:02
Make sure that your laptop is kept cool
    because that fan will just
  • 32:02 - 32:03
    working overtime.
  • 32:03 - 32:05
    So, you have extra credit.
  • 32:05 - 32:07
Some of you have been asking about that.
  • 32:07 - 32:10
Again, all extra credit, just like
in the syllabus, is due May 5th.
  • 32:10 - 32:14
I did not change the due dates
    on assignments.
  • 32:14 - 32:18
If you kind of look at it closely, you'll
see they still follow the syllabus, okay?
  • 32:18 - 32:23
So extra credit and the uh,
    co-curricular, they're due on the 5th.
  • 32:23 - 32:27
So extra credit, I gave you some choices,
    some little activities to do.
  • 32:27 - 32:30
    Just choose one, um,
    and it's worth 10 points.
  • 32:30 - 32:31
    Okay?
  • 32:31 - 32:34
    And so, again, again
    you've got your choices.
  • 32:34 - 32:38
And if you click, let's say you want to
do how to get the most out of studying,
  • 32:38 - 32:40
    you may click on here.
  • 32:40 - 32:42
You see the due date, the points.
  • 32:42 - 32:45
    You can write the submission,
    or you can attach it.
  • 32:45 - 32:49
And again, sorry, I'm gonna cancel this.
  • 32:51 - 32:54
The assignment is still the same.
  • 32:54 - 32:56
Write in here, how to get the
    most out of studying.
  • 32:56 - 32:59
    You can download that and
read it, but the questions are,
  • 32:59 - 33:01
    are pretty much the same
  • 33:01 - 33:03
    And the questions are going
to be right up in here.
  • 33:04 - 33:08
So, right in here, and you can see,
  • 33:08 - 33:10
choose one of the videos to briefly
    summarize, a half-page reflection
  • 33:10 - 33:13
    that includes the main points
in the video and etc., etc.
  • 33:13 - 33:16
So, you know, again, read through all
of this choose the one that you,
  • 33:16 - 33:18
    you find most interesting.
  • 33:18 - 33:20
We will have a final exam.
  • 33:20 - 33:22
Uh, that will be down in here.
  • 33:22 - 33:25
But I haven't, I've gotta work on that one.
  • 33:25 - 33:28
And uh, it's gonna be, of course,
    something you submit online, okay?
  • 33:28 - 33:31
It's not gonna be, it's gonna be
    different from the midterm.
  • 33:31 - 33:33
So, uh, don't worry too much about that.
  • 33:33 - 33:35
    Be more concerned about
    meeting the deadlines
  • 33:35 - 33:37
    and turning everything in.
  • 33:37 - 33:42
Again, if you know you're, uh, running
the risk of failing the course,
  • 33:42 - 33:45
    you might have the opportunity
    to turn things around.
  • 33:45 - 33:50
But, the last day to drop I believe
is April 27th; I'm not too sure.
  • 33:50 - 33:53
But anyway, you want to check
    with your adviser on that.
  • 33:54 - 34:01
Okay folks, that looks, that is our
tour of our Blackboard course room.
  • 34:03 - 34:06
So let me bring myself back up here.
  • 34:08 - 34:09
So let's see if you see me now.
  • 34:11 - 34:14
And if not, I'm still in the corner here.
  • 34:14 - 34:16
Let me see if I can.
  • 34:19 - 34:21
    Okay, yay!
  • 34:21 - 34:22
    I'm back.
  • 34:22 - 34:27
So, again, if you don't understand
how to submit, or you got,
  • 34:27 - 34:31
    please rewatch that video because
I did go through that, but if you still
  • 34:31 - 34:33
    have questions or concerns,
    reach out to me.
  • 34:33 - 34:34
Do not wait til the last minute.
  • 34:34 - 34:37
I think that's my biggest thing
that I can tell ya'll is:
  • 34:37 - 34:38
    Really get on the ball.
  • 34:38 - 34:43
Every week some, each unit will be due
each week, is what I'm saying.
  • 34:43 - 34:45
So, uh, just know you have something due.
  • 34:45 - 34:51
And so, uh, make sure, uh, that you get
on the ball and wrap those things up.
  • 34:51 - 34:53
Okay, so, woo, it is hot in here.
  • 34:53 - 34:55
    So, let's see here.
  • 34:55 - 35:00
I think the next thing that I want to
    talk about, goodness, goodness, goodness.
  • 35:00 - 35:02
    I think that's it.
  • 35:02 - 35:05
    So, um, course updates.
  • 35:05 - 35:08
    I wonder if I should do a
    separate video for that,
  • 35:08 - 35:10
because I know this one is pretty long.
  • 35:16 - 35:21
Okay, let me, go ahead and do that here.
  • 35:21 - 35:23
    Again, I hate making.
  • 35:23 - 35:26
I don't like to make long videos,
but sometimes you do have to do that,
  • 35:26 - 35:32
so let me see if I can get you
    back up to sharing this.
  • 35:33 - 35:35
I hope I can do that.
  • 35:35 - 35:36
    But I don't know.
  • 35:36 - 35:38
    Let's see.
  • 35:42 - 35:43
    Oops.
  • 35:47 - 35:51
Maybe I'll just cover my face,
    will that work.
  • 35:51 - 35:52
    Can you see?
  • 35:52 - 35:53
    No.
  • 35:58 - 35:59
    Ah, there it is.
  • 35:59 - 36:01
Okay, so I'm gonna share that.
  • 36:02 - 36:04
I'm still seeing myself, I'm still seeing
    myself, that's not good.
  • 36:09 - 36:11
    Hmm, hmm...
  • 36:12 - 36:16
Okay so you're looking at my, you
should be, you should be seeing my screen.
  • 36:16 - 36:18
Let me see if I can get to that.
  • 36:29 - 36:31
    Apologies, apologies.
  • 36:31 - 36:32
    Okay.
  • 36:40 - 36:43
    Okay, so, when you go
    down to student tools,
  • 36:43 - 36:46
when you want to look at your grades,
  • 36:46 - 36:47
    I don't, uh...
  • 36:56 - 37:00
This may be a little confusing and
I don't want y'all to get too confused,
  • 37:00 - 37:02
I think what you really need to look
    at are things that are
  • 37:02 - 37:05
being graded or rather, even submitted.
  • 37:05 - 37:09
You can look at upcoming but that's
gonna be a little weird because
  • 37:09 - 37:13
    that's gonna seem like there's a lot,
there's gonna be a repeat of assignments,
  • 37:13 - 37:17
because I set up Blackboard, so for
example, you're gonna see, see like, that,
  • 37:17 - 37:20
this is the original up here.
  • 37:20 - 37:21
    This stuff is original.
  • 37:21 - 37:24
    But if you scroll down,
    you're gonna see it again.
  • 37:24 - 37:28
And this is not, meant to freak you
out or confuse you by any means,
  • 37:28 - 37:32
What I want to point out is this
shows you the value of each,
  • 37:32 - 37:36
now, when, I'm not counting this,
so please uh, I don't really want,
  • 37:36 - 37:38
you to get too confused on this,
  • 37:38 - 37:40
    But you probably have an
    idea what I'm talking about.
  • 37:40 - 37:43
    This is the original up
    here, so simple
  • 37:43 - 37:44
    when we were face-to-face, right?
  • 37:44 - 37:49
    But, now that I've added
this to a course room, um,
  • 37:49 - 37:50
I've had to re-put the assign—
  • 37:50 - 37:52
like, I had to put it again.
  • 37:52 - 37:58
So, just know that we are still operating
on the same grading system and so forth.
  • 37:58 - 38:00
Uh, let me just mention real
    quick, and I may make a, I think I'm
  • 38:00 - 38:03
gonna stop right here and make a
separate video on the grading system.
  • 38:04 - 38:09
In terms of, of, the dashes
    that you see here.
  • 38:09 - 38:11
    I think you're going
    to see some dashes
  • 38:11 - 38:13
if I can stop this, yeah, like right here,
  • 38:13 - 38:17
don't think it's not worth anything,
again you need to do that activity
  • 38:17 - 38:21
    to count towards your attendance
    and participation grade.
  • 38:21 - 38:23
Just know that if you do
    everything, you will get
  • 38:23 - 38:26
    the full credit for attendance
    and participation.
  • 38:26 - 38:27
    Okay?
  • 38:27 - 38:29
    So, I, I didn't want to add
    values to that because,
  • 38:29 - 38:31
if I did, it would throw everything off
  • 38:31 - 38:33
    and make you extra confused.
  • 38:33 - 38:34
    So, everything's still the same.
  • 38:34 - 38:36
So let me, let me get out of here.
  • 38:36 - 38:41
Let me make a separate video on,
    uh, uh, grading and everything.
  • 38:41 - 38:43
So I'm going to go ahead and close this.
  • 38:45 - 38:47
    Okay I'm back again.
  • 38:47 - 38:48
    I'm gonna stop recording.
  • 38:48 - 38:53
Uh, I will make, I will upload another
video just talking about the modifications
  • 38:53 - 38:55
    to the assignments, the grading
    system, and all that.
  • 38:55 - 38:56
    Okay?
  • 38:56 - 38:59
    So thanks for your patience.
