PLAN WITH ME | October 2021 Bullet Journal Setup

  • 0:00 - 0:03
    (gentle music)
  • 0:13 - 0:15
    - Thank you to Skillshare
    for sponsoring this video.
  • 0:15 - 0:18
Hello doodles, it's Amanda, welcome back.
  • 0:18 - 0:19
    How are you guys?
  • 0:19 - 0:22
    How have you been doing,
    what's up, what's new?
  • 0:22 - 0:25
    I can't tell whether time
    is moving slow or fast.
  • 0:25 - 0:28
All I know is that all of
a sudden it is time for me
  • 0:28 - 0:29
to do my October plan with me.
  • 0:29 - 0:32
    So I wanted to implement
    something a little bit new
  • 0:32 - 0:33
for this month's planning with me video,
  • 0:33 - 0:36
just because I feel like these videos
  • 0:36 - 0:38
    are like my monthly
    check-ins with you guys.
  • 0:38 - 0:42
So I was thinking the other
day that it would be nice if
  • 0:42 - 0:44
    at the beginning of
    each plan with me video,
  • 0:44 - 0:48
I can tell you guys about
    my goal for the month.
  • 0:48 - 0:50
    And you guys can also
    comment down below your goal
  • 0:50 - 0:53
for the month whether it's like
a big goal or a small goal.
  • 0:53 - 0:55
And then in the next plan with me video,
  • 0:55 - 0:58
    the following month I can
check in with you guys again
  • 0:58 - 0:59
at the beginning of the video,
  • 0:59 - 1:01
    let you know whether
    I've completed my goal
  • 1:01 - 1:05
and also set a new goal
    for the following month.
  • 1:05 - 1:07
And it can kind of be like our way
  • 1:07 - 1:08
    to keep each other accountable.
  • 1:08 - 1:10
It doesn't have to be anything serious.
  • 1:10 - 1:11
It can be like a small goal,
  • 1:11 - 1:15
    but I think it'll be
    fun to just, you know,
  • 1:15 - 1:16
    encourage each other in
    the comments of these
  • 1:16 - 1:19
plan with me videos for our monthly goals.
  • 1:19 - 1:20
In my previous plan with me video
  • 1:20 - 1:23
    I mentioned that I wanted
    to be working out more,
  • 1:23 - 1:26
    eating healthier, and I
    definitely think I achieved that.
  • 1:26 - 1:29
I worked out twice a week every single day
  • 1:29 - 1:30
    for the past month.
  • 1:30 - 1:33
So round of applause for me,
  • 1:33 - 1:35
and I'm very proud of myself for that.
  • 1:35 - 1:38
But to my goal for this coming
    month, which is October,
  • 1:38 - 1:42
I think is going to be
to make more of an effort
  • 1:42 - 1:45
    to reach out to friends,
    check in with them,
  • 1:45 - 1:46
    maybe hanging out with them,
  • 1:46 - 1:49
going on like quick walks, coffee.
  • 1:49 - 1:51
I feel like I'm the type of
person where if I don't actively
  • 1:51 - 1:54
encourage myself to reach out to friends,
  • 1:54 - 1:56
    then I can definitely kind
    of close inward on myself
  • 1:56 - 1:58
and be like oh my gosh, like,
  • 1:58 - 2:00
who would want to hang out with me?
  • 2:00 - 2:02
Everyone's too busy, yada, yada, yada.
  • 2:02 - 2:03
But usually that's not the case.
  • 2:03 - 2:06
Usually you just have to be
    the one to initiate sometimes.
  • 2:06 - 2:09
    So yes, that is my
    personal goal for October.
  • 2:09 - 2:11
And I want to know what yours are.
  • 2:11 - 2:13
    I just feel like these
    monthly plan with me videos
  • 2:13 - 2:14
are a good opportunity to do that.
  • 2:14 - 2:15
    I have blabbed on enough.
  • 2:15 - 2:18
    I'm really excited for
    this month's set up.
  • 2:18 - 2:20
Without further ado let's get on with my
  • 2:20 - 2:23
October, 2021 bullet journal set up.
  • 2:23 - 2:25
Last month I promised you guys
that is going to do a theme
  • 2:25 - 2:29
that had very fall, warm, cozy vibes.
  • 2:29 - 2:31
And of course I am delivering.
  • 2:31 - 2:36
    So this month's theme is
    a library slash reading
  • 2:36 - 2:38
    slash book theme.
  • 2:38 - 2:41
    My main inspiration for
    this was looking at pictures
  • 2:41 - 2:44
    of reading nooks and
    libraries on Pinterest.
  • 2:44 - 2:48
    I always love looking at
    people's houses and rooms
  • 2:48 - 2:50
    and interior design on Pinterest,
  • 2:50 - 2:53
    but specifically I really
love looking at what people do
  • 2:53 - 2:56
with the extra spaces in their houses like
  • 2:56 - 2:59
    that aren't bedrooms or
    kitchens or living rooms,
  • 2:59 - 3:03
kind of extra rooms that you
can pretty much do whatever in
  • 3:03 - 3:06
and when people are able to
have the space to do something
  • 3:06 - 3:09
like a reading nook or a
    library I just love it.
  • 3:09 - 3:13
    It seems so lovely and
    cozy to just cuddle up
  • 3:13 - 3:14
    and I don't know, read a book,
  • 3:14 - 3:17
drink a cup of tea on a rainy day.
  • 3:17 - 3:20
I would love to be able
to have a space like this
  • 3:20 - 3:22
    in my apartment,
  • 3:22 - 3:24
    but currently I live in
    a one bedroom apartment
  • 3:24 - 3:25
    in downtown Toronto.
  • 3:25 - 3:27
    So that's not going to
    be possible for awhile,
  • 3:27 - 3:31
    but hopefully one day I
can have my very own space
  • 3:31 - 3:32
that is dedicated to being cozy
  • 3:32 - 3:35
because how amazing does that sound?
  • 3:35 - 3:39
    But anyway, yes, I'm obsessed
    with looking up pictures of
  • 3:39 - 3:40
    like libraries and reading
    books on Pinterest.
  • 3:40 - 3:44
So I wanted to create that on
    my bullet journal cover page.
  • 3:44 - 3:47
So as you can see I've drawn
    a picture of an armchair.
  • 3:47 - 3:50
    I have a little coffee
    table and also of course,
  • 3:50 - 3:53
a very large bookshelf in the back.
  • 3:53 - 3:58
And I wanted to kind of
illustrate it in the same style
  • 3:58 - 4:01
as the lo-fi theme that I did a while back
  • 4:01 - 4:04
    because to me it gives
    off the same cozy vibes.
  • 4:04 - 4:06
    So I did that.
  • 4:06 - 4:11
I have to mention, like I
    mentioned in the lo-fi theme
  • 4:11 - 4:14
video it does seem like a lot of drawing,
  • 4:14 - 4:16
but actually if you break it down,
  • 4:16 - 4:19
drawing this type of stuff is super easy.
  • 4:19 - 4:21
I recommend you pause on my
    video if you're trying to
  • 4:21 - 4:24
recreate it because a lot of
    this stuff is just simple,
  • 4:24 - 4:26
    basic shapes, like the bookshelf.
  • 4:26 - 4:29
It's just obviously a lot of rectangles.
  • 4:29 - 4:32
    Probably the hardest thing
    to draw is the armchair.
  • 4:32 - 4:35
So if any of you are scared or overwhelmed
  • 4:35 - 4:37
    to try to recreate it,
  • 4:37 - 4:39
I promise if you break it
    down into simple shapes,
  • 4:39 - 4:41
    you can do it.
  • 4:41 - 4:43
I know a lot of you guys
    are up for the challenge,
  • 4:43 - 4:44
    I believe in you guys,
  • 4:44 - 4:47
but I do really love the
    way that this cover page
  • 4:47 - 4:50
turned out and you'll see later
the colors that I ended up
  • 4:50 - 4:53
    choosing are very warm, cozy.
  • 4:53 - 4:57
I went for a lot of like
    brown, tan, beige tones,
  • 4:57 - 5:00
as well as a like sage olive green,
  • 5:00 - 5:02
    which is one of my
    favorite colors right now.
  • 5:02 - 5:04
And to me it just screams fall.
  • 5:04 - 5:07
So another reason why I chose
to do this theme is because
  • 5:07 - 5:11
    personally I've been getting a
    lot more into reading lately.
  • 5:11 - 5:13
I will be the first to admit
  • 5:13 - 5:15
that I was never the biggest reader.
  • 5:15 - 5:18
I never used to enjoy reading.
  • 5:18 - 5:21
    I would've much rather have
spent my time watching a TV show
  • 5:21 - 5:24
    or a movie because I'm
    a very visual person.
  • 5:24 - 5:29
    But I have recently
    rediscovered the joy of reading.
  • 5:29 - 5:33
I remember being a really big
reader when I was a child,
  • 5:33 - 5:35
but then I kind of like phased out of it.
  • 5:35 - 5:38
And now I feel like I'm
    getting back into reading
  • 5:38 - 5:41
    and there's actually a
    fun cute little story
  • 5:41 - 5:43
    as to how that happened.
  • 5:43 - 5:46
And I thought I would tell it
as you guys are watching me do
  • 5:46 - 5:47
the rest of my quote page.
  • 5:47 - 5:49
    Right now I'm just coloring
    stuff in with my markers.
  • 5:49 - 5:53
    So we have some time
for me to tell my story.
  • 5:53 - 5:55
But basically when I was in Vancouver,
  • 5:55 - 5:58
I did a little park meet and greet.
  • 5:58 - 6:01
It was kind of like a busking session
  • 6:01 - 6:03
    where I played some music
    with my friend Jennifer
  • 6:03 - 6:07
and I just invited any little
doodles who were free that day
  • 6:07 - 6:09
    to come out and hang.
  • 6:09 - 6:13
And one of my viewers came
    and she was an author.
  • 6:13 - 6:16
She actually gave me her book to read.
  • 6:16 - 6:17
    She signed it.
  • 6:17 - 6:20
She said that my videos helped her meet
  • 6:20 - 6:22
her writing deadlines for her publisher
  • 6:22 - 6:24
and that she bullet journaled a lot.
  • 6:24 - 6:26
And it was just such a sweet moment.
  • 6:26 - 6:28
    I don't know what it
    was about that moment,
  • 6:28 - 6:30
but it just made me realize like, wow,
  • 6:30 - 6:35
my videos and what I do
    actually helps other people
  • 6:35 - 6:37
    and affects other people's lives,
  • 6:37 - 6:40
which is a very cool thing
to realize is like a very
  • 6:40 - 6:43
concrete thing to see like this book.
  • 6:43 - 6:47
    And obviously the author is
    so talented, she's so amazing.
  • 6:47 - 6:49
    And she probably would
    have finished the book
  • 6:49 - 6:52
even if she hadn't watched my videos,
  • 6:52 - 6:55
    but just the fact that
I could be a small part
  • 6:55 - 6:59
    of that project indirectly
    is very cool to me.
  • 6:59 - 7:01
    And it was really special
    that our paths could cross
  • 7:01 - 7:05
    in that exact location and
time for us to meet in person.
  • 7:05 - 7:08
She gave me the book, it was signed.
  • 7:08 - 7:12
I went back home to Toronto
and obviously I saw this book
  • 7:12 - 7:14
and I was like, you know
what, I have to read it.
  • 7:14 - 7:18
Like I can't not read this
book that a viewer gave me.
  • 7:18 - 7:20
    So I read it.
  • 7:20 - 7:23
And it was such a cute, quick little read.
  • 7:23 - 7:26
    It was, it's called Made
    in Korea by Sarah Souk.
  • 7:26 - 7:30
And it again very quick and
easy read, really fun and cute.
  • 7:30 - 7:34
And I think that was one of
the main reasons why it was so
  • 7:34 - 7:37
    enjoyable to me is because
it was such a quick read.
  • 7:37 - 7:40
    Which before the major deterrents
    for me reading was just
  • 7:40 - 7:44
that it took up so much time
and I'm always kind of on
  • 7:44 - 7:45
    a fast paced schedule.
  • 7:45 - 7:49
So it inspired me to look up
    more books that were quick
  • 7:49 - 7:51
    easy reads like that.
  • 7:51 - 7:54
And I also got the help from
some of you guys on Instagram
  • 7:54 - 7:56
    with some book recommendations.
  • 7:56 - 8:00
    So yeah, I've been getting
a few more books in my,
  • 8:00 - 8:03
in my collection and reading a few more.
  • 8:03 - 8:05
That is that my fun little story.
  • 8:05 - 8:08
    I think it's cool that a little
    doodle author was the reason
  • 8:08 - 8:11
    why my love of reading
that I had as a child
  • 8:11 - 8:13
    has been kind of reignited.
  • 8:13 - 8:15
    Who knows maybe there are
    also some other little doodle
  • 8:15 - 8:16
    authors watching this right now.
  • 8:16 - 8:18
And if you are, please leave your,
  • 8:18 - 8:20
the name of your book in the comments,
  • 8:20 - 8:22
or if you have any other
    book recommendations for me
  • 8:22 - 8:25
    or other little doodles,
    leave them down below.
  • 8:25 - 8:27
    I feel like we're all
    similar minded people.
  • 8:27 - 8:31
    So I trust your guys'
    book recommendations.
  • 8:31 - 8:33
I know I rambled over most of this spread,
  • 8:33 - 8:35
    but as you can see,
    I'm doing a quote page.
  • 8:35 - 8:38
    I drew a little doodle
    of a stack of books.
  • 8:38 - 8:40
    There's a book that's
    open and then above it,
  • 8:40 - 8:44
it just says chapter 10, because
    October is the 10th month.
  • 8:44 - 8:48
I also added a lot of
    paper scrapbooking elements
  • 8:48 - 8:49
    throughout this setup.
  • 8:49 - 8:53
As you can see, of course,
    using some old book pages
  • 8:53 - 8:55
    that obviously go really
    well with this theme.
  • 8:55 - 8:59
I think the text on the
    book pages kind of adds
  • 8:59 - 9:02
    some dimension and texture
    to the illustrations,
  • 9:02 - 9:04
which I think looks really nice.
  • 9:04 - 9:07
And that paper that you saw
on the quote page was actually
  • 9:07 - 9:12
    some handmade Japanese paper
that I got from a small store
  • 9:12 - 9:13
    in Toronto called Hanji.
  • 9:13 - 9:16
    And it has these really
    beautiful dried leaves
  • 9:16 - 9:17
    and flowers in it.
  • 9:17 - 9:20
    Currently I'm doing my
    monthly calendar page.
  • 9:20 - 9:23
For the title I used my
    rubber alphabet stamps
  • 9:23 - 9:26
to give it that printed text look.
  • 9:26 - 9:28
    I always get so many
    questions whenever I use these
  • 9:28 - 9:30
    rubber alphabet stamps.
  • 9:30 - 9:31
So I'll link them down below
  • 9:31 - 9:34
in case you are curious about it.
  • 9:34 - 9:36
But for this monthly calendar spread,
  • 9:36 - 9:38
    I didn't do a full two pager.
  • 9:38 - 9:42
I just did a half page where I
have the calendar at the top.
  • 9:42 - 9:45
    And then I'm just listing
    out events in the bottom.
  • 9:45 - 9:48
    Mostly because recently I've
been finding that I want to add
  • 9:48 - 9:53
a lot more kind of sub notes
    to individual monthly events.
  • 9:53 - 9:57
So for example, if I have an
    appointment on a certain day,
  • 9:57 - 10:00
but I also want to remind myself
    to bring something for that
  • 10:00 - 10:03
    day or something that I
need to do for that specific
  • 10:03 - 10:07
    appointment then I have
    been wanting to add that.
  • 10:07 - 10:12
And if I confine myself to a
small box that I normally use
  • 10:12 - 10:14
    in the two page spreads,
  • 10:14 - 10:15
    there's not really as
    much space to add those
  • 10:15 - 10:18
sort of footnotes for the events.
  • 10:18 - 10:22
So I've been trying to toy with
the idea of doing this type
  • 10:22 - 10:24
    of spread more often so
that I'm able to do that.
  • 10:26 - 10:29
    I just put the events
    title on the side there
  • 10:29 - 10:31
so that I can list it out at the bottom.
  • 10:31 - 10:33
And then I also just doodled
  • 10:33 - 10:35
a little stack of books as well.
  • 10:35 - 10:38
And other than that I'm just
    adding the splashes of color
  • 10:38 - 10:40
    with those neutral brown shades,
  • 10:40 - 10:45
as well as using the light
neutral grid tape from the shop
  • 10:45 - 10:48
    AmandaRachLee light neutral basics set.
  • 10:48 - 10:50
On the other side of the spread I created
  • 10:50 - 10:54
    a monthly dashboard is
    what I'm calling it.
  • 10:54 - 10:57
    I just had these little
    modules and ideas of things
  • 10:57 - 11:00
that I wanted to note down for this month,
  • 11:00 - 11:03
but I didn't want to make
full pages for any of them.
  • 11:03 - 11:08
So the top one I have this
    book and inside the pages
  • 11:08 - 11:11
    I'm listing out the books
    that I'm currently reading
  • 11:12 - 11:13
    for the month.
  • 11:13 - 11:17
    Currently I'm reading One
    Last Stop by Casey McQuiston,
  • 11:17 - 11:18
    sorry if I'm mispronouncing that.
  • 11:18 - 11:22
And I have a couple other that
    I've been planning on reading
  • 11:22 - 11:23
hopefully by the end of the month.
  • 11:23 - 11:27
And then on the other side
    of that book illustration
  • 11:27 - 11:30
I have TV shows that I'm
    keeping up with this month.
  • 11:30 - 11:35
I have been in a big as
you guys know K drama kick.
  • 11:35 - 11:37
    So I'm currently watching
    Hometown Cha Cha Cha.
  • 11:37 - 11:40
I've been wanting to start a Squid Game,
  • 11:40 - 11:43
    and also I've been finishing
    up a couple other shows
  • 11:43 - 11:46
that I have never gone around
    to finishing for this month.
  • 11:46 - 11:49
    You'll see as I continue
    drawing that the other sections
  • 11:49 - 11:53
    on this dashboard page are
    sectioned for my monthly goals.
  • 11:53 - 11:57
    And then also at the
    bottom I added a package
  • 11:57 - 11:59
or a shipment checker for things that I've
  • 11:59 - 12:01
purchased this month and I'm waiting on.
  • 12:01 - 12:04
I wanted to add a little
section for that to help me keep
  • 12:04 - 12:05
    track of it.
  • 12:05 - 12:07
I've done this in other months before
  • 12:07 - 12:09
    and it's been really
    helpful especially when I'm
  • 12:09 - 12:11
    waiting on specific things.
  • 12:11 - 12:14
And I just, you know, sometimes
I lose track in my mind.
  • 12:14 - 12:18
Anyway, that's everything for the spread.
  • 12:18 - 12:21
What should we talk about now
that we're just waiting for me
  • 12:21 - 12:22
    to finish this up?
  • 12:22 - 12:24
I never know what to talk
    about in these voiceovers.
  • 12:24 - 12:28
Oh, I guess I never talked
about this on my YouTube channel
  • 12:28 - 12:29
or in an official video yet.
  • 12:29 - 12:32
But if you have been seeing on Instagram
  • 12:32 - 12:34
or YouTube shorts or Tik Tok,
  • 12:34 - 12:37
    something really exciting
    happened last month
  • 12:37 - 12:40
    and may be continuing on
    into this month as well.
  • 12:40 - 12:41
    If you haven't seen it,
  • 12:41 - 12:44
I was a part of a YouTube Canada campaign,
  • 12:44 - 12:49
    which basically put billboards
    of Canadian creators
  • 12:49 - 12:50
    all across Canada.
  • 12:50 - 12:54
    One of the biggest placements
    was in Dundas Square
  • 12:54 - 12:56
outside of the Eaton Center in Toronto.
  • 12:56 - 12:57
Which if you don't know where that is
  • 12:57 - 13:02
    it's kind of like Toronto's
    smaller version of Times Square.
  • 13:02 - 13:05
    They have all these billboards
up and now if you go there
  • 13:05 - 13:09
right now, my face is up
    there, which is so crazy.
  • 13:09 - 13:11
When I went to go see
    it for the first time
  • 13:11 - 13:14
    I had someone filming
    my initial reactions.
  • 13:14 - 13:18
So I posted that on my
channel if you want to see it,
  • 13:18 - 13:21
but it was a very, very cool moment.
  • 13:21 - 13:23
    And I'm still kind of
    overwhelmed by the whole thing.
  • 13:23 - 13:26
But I did just want to say thank you
  • 13:26 - 13:27
    because obviously you guys,
  • 13:27 - 13:30
and you watch my videos over
the past eight to nine years,
  • 13:30 - 13:34
    are one of the main
    reasons why I, you know,
  • 13:34 - 13:36
    I'm still doing this and
    why YouTube picked me
  • 13:36 - 13:38
for this campaign so thank you.
  • 13:38 - 13:40
And yeah, if you want to go check it out,
  • 13:40 - 13:42
    I'm across Canada on billboards.
  • 13:42 - 13:43
I don't even know where some of them are,
  • 13:43 - 13:45
    but some people have
    been sending me pictures.
  • 13:48 - 13:50
Quick interruption before I show you guys
  • 13:50 - 13:52
    the rest of the spreads,
  • 13:52 - 13:54
I wanted to talk quickly about
    today's sponsor Skillshare.
  • 13:54 - 13:55
    If you guys don't know
    what Skillshare is yet,
  • 13:55 - 13:57
it is an online learning community
  • 13:57 - 14:00
    with thousands of inspiring
    classes for creators.
  • 14:00 - 14:02
You can explore new skills, new hobbies,
  • 14:02 - 14:05
    or just deepen your knowledge
  • 14:05 - 14:07
    and experience with something
    that you already love.
  • 14:07 - 14:09
    There's classes on illustration,
  • 14:09 - 14:12
    design, calligraphy, lettering.
  • 14:12 - 14:15
I even have my own classes on Skillshare.
  • 14:15 - 14:18
They're exclusive, they're kind of fun.
  • 14:18 - 14:21
    Just saying, if you
want to see more of me,
  • 14:21 - 14:22
that's the place to do it.
  • 14:22 - 14:23
But even if you don't take my class,
  • 14:23 - 14:25
    I'm sure you'll be able
    to find something else
  • 14:25 - 14:27
    that you're interested
    in on their platform.
  • 14:27 - 14:29
Even though I teach classes on Skillshare,
  • 14:29 - 14:31
I also am a student of Skillshare.
  • 14:31 - 14:33
I take a couple of Skillshare classes.
  • 14:33 - 14:35
    Especially when I'm feeling uninspired.
  • 14:35 - 14:37
    Currently I'm taking a
    class called Find Your Style
  • 14:37 - 14:38
    by Andy J. Pizza.
  • 14:38 - 14:41
    And it's all about
    unlocking your creative,
  • 14:41 - 14:43
    artistic identity and
    finding your art style.
  • 14:43 - 14:45
    And what I love about
    Skillshare is that it's curated
  • 14:45 - 14:47
    specifically for learning.
  • 14:47 - 14:48
    There's no ads.
  • 14:48 - 14:51
I feel like the classes are
    definitely more in depth than
  • 14:51 - 14:54
anything that you would be able
    to find on other platforms.
  • 14:54 - 14:56
And there's always new premium classes
  • 14:56 - 14:57
    that they're releasing.
  • 14:57 - 15:00
    So you'll always discover
    something new to learn.
  • 15:00 - 15:02
    There's such a strong
    community on there as well.
  • 15:02 - 15:04
    You can connect with other
people who are taking the same
  • 15:04 - 15:07
classes as you and encourage each other.
  • 15:07 - 15:09
    And it's honestly us
    very similar community
  • 15:09 - 15:11
to our community the little doodles,
  • 15:11 - 15:12
which is why I know you guys will love it.
  • 15:12 - 15:14
    Skillshare was kind enough
    to offer my subscribers
  • 15:14 - 15:15
    a very special deal.
  • 15:15 - 15:17
If you are interested in trying it out,
  • 15:17 - 15:20
you can click the link in my
    description box down below.
  • 15:20 - 15:22
    The first thousand of my
    subscribers to click that link
  • 15:22 - 15:25
    will get a one month
    free trial of Skillshare.
  • 15:25 - 15:26
    So definitely get on that.
  • 15:26 - 15:28
You guys know we love Skillshare on here.
  • 15:28 - 15:30
    So anyway without further ado,
  • 15:30 - 15:32
I will get you guys back to the video.
  • 15:32 - 15:35
Next step, I'm doing my habit trackers.
  • 15:35 - 15:37
    This month again I opted
not to do a mood tracker
  • 15:37 - 15:39
because I didn't feel like doing one.
  • 15:39 - 15:42
But for the header of the habit tracker,
  • 15:42 - 15:45
I used the book page as like a background
  • 15:45 - 15:47
    for the habit tracker,
  • 15:47 - 15:50
which I also did on like
some old kind of cream paper
  • 15:50 - 15:53
to make it look like book paper.
  • 15:53 - 15:56
By the way, these book pages
are not from a new book.
  • 15:56 - 15:59
It was from an old book that
I thrifted at a thrift store.
  • 15:59 - 16:01
And I looked it up to make
    sure that it wasn't like
  • 16:01 - 16:04
    a special edition book
    or anything like that.
  • 16:04 - 16:08
So don't worry, I'm not ripping
out pages from a new book.
  • 16:08 - 16:12
It was kind of like an
    old damaged book already.
  • 16:12 - 16:15
So yes, any book lovers out there?
  • 16:15 - 16:19
I'm sorry, there was a book
harmed in the making of this,
  • 16:19 - 16:23
but I tried to make sure that
it was not a, a special one.
  • 16:23 - 16:25
    For the habit tracker
    calendars I just drew
  • 16:25 - 16:29
    these small rectangles
    with simple headers in the,
  • 16:29 - 16:30
    those neutral colors.
  • 16:32 - 16:34
I also blocked off all those
    grid sections on the inside
  • 16:34 - 16:37
for me to fill out when I'm
    doing the specific habits
  • 16:37 - 16:41
    and the habits that I'm
    tracking this month are
  • 16:41 - 16:43
    reading of course, to
    go along with the theme,
  • 16:43 - 16:46
    but also just in general
    I'll probably add this
  • 16:46 - 16:48
to my habit trackers moving forward.
  • 16:48 - 16:51
    I also have the usual
    suspects like working out,
  • 16:51 - 16:55
    taking my vitamins,
    doing my vocal exercises.
  • 16:55 - 16:58
    What else do I have,
    stretching, stuff like that.
  • 16:58 - 17:00
And then at the bottom of the page,
  • 17:00 - 17:03
    I filled the empty space
    with some book doodles.
  • 17:03 - 17:07
So I drew a stack of books
with some books leaning on it.
  • 17:07 - 17:10
And then I also drew some
    books at different angles.
  • 17:10 - 17:12
So I have some that are half open.
  • 17:12 - 17:14
Some of the pages fully open.
  • 17:14 - 17:16
It was really fun to draw these.
  • 17:16 - 17:18
    I think book doodles
are a cute doodle to do
  • 17:18 - 17:20
because they're quite simple to draw,
  • 17:20 - 17:23
but they look really nice and cozy
  • 17:23 - 17:26
    and you can really
    customize whatever you want,
  • 17:27 - 17:28
    depending on your color palette.
  • 17:28 - 17:30
Of course I went with my neutrals,
  • 17:30 - 17:32
    but if you chose a
    different color palette,
  • 17:32 - 17:34
all you have to do is
    change out to the colors
  • 17:34 - 17:36
    of the book covers.
  • 17:36 - 17:39
    (gentle music)
  • 17:56 - 17:58
So the next spread that I'm doing
  • 17:58 - 17:59
    is my monthly playlist spread,
  • 17:59 - 18:03
    which I've missed doing because
I didn't do one last month.
  • 18:03 - 18:06
And the theme for my playlist this month
  • 18:06 - 18:09
and the songs that I'm sharing
    are definitely very chill,
  • 18:09 - 18:13
cozy songs that are kind of softer songs
  • 18:13 - 18:15
that you would be able to
    listen to while reading,
  • 18:15 - 18:18
    because personally I know some
    people might not like this
  • 18:18 - 18:20
but I like to have very soft,
  • 18:20 - 18:23
low key music while I'm reading.
  • 18:23 - 18:25
    Just because it gives
    me some background noise
  • 18:25 - 18:28
and it can't be anything too upbeat
  • 18:28 - 18:30
or the lyrics can't be the focus
  • 18:30 - 18:32
or also just end up focusing on the music
  • 18:32 - 18:33
    and not on the book.
  • 18:33 - 18:37
So I've kind of compiled some
    songs that I personally like
  • 18:37 - 18:40
to listen to while I'm reading
    or even while I'm drawing
  • 18:40 - 18:42
or journaling or stuff like that,
  • 18:42 - 18:44
just because it helps me focus.
  • 18:44 - 18:47
    It's kind of similar to
    the whole lo-fi thing,
  • 18:47 - 18:49
    which you know I love.
  • 18:49 - 18:54
    But recently I've been really
    really into listening to
  • 18:54 - 18:57
    Bossa Nova and jazz,
    which is the genre music
  • 18:57 - 19:00
    that you're hearing right
    now for the background music
  • 19:00 - 19:01
    of this video.
  • 19:01 - 19:03
And as you can hear with your ears,
  • 19:03 - 19:07
it is so relaxing and it
definitely gives you the vibe of,
  • 19:07 - 19:10
    you know, being in a
    nice little cafe reading.
  • 19:10 - 19:14
So there are a ton of YouTube
    mixes that have some really
  • 19:14 - 19:19
    good, you know jazzy, Bossa
    Nova, lo-fi type mixes.
  • 19:19 - 19:22
So I'll link some of those down
    below in case you're curious
  • 19:22 - 19:25
    as to what I listened
    to when I'm doing stuff
  • 19:25 - 19:28
    like reading or journaling.
  • 19:28 - 19:29
    So I listed those out.
  • 19:29 - 19:32
I also have a couple of
    songs that have, you know,
  • 19:32 - 19:33
    softer vibes as well.
  • 19:33 - 19:36
So I put that on the left
    side of my playlist spread.
  • 19:36 - 19:38
So I'll link everything down below.
  • 19:38 - 19:41
Basically what I'm trying to say,
  • 19:41 - 19:42
I know I'm all over the
    place in this voiceover,
  • 19:42 - 19:47
    but I basically have Spotify
    songs that I listen to.
  • 19:47 - 19:49
    Some of them have lyrics,
    some of them don't.
  • 19:49 - 19:51
    And then I also have
    some like YouTube mixes
  • 19:51 - 19:54
    that are longer, they're
    like hour long mixes.
  • 19:54 - 19:57
And those are for when I want
  • 19:57 - 20:00
a more uninterrupted stream of music.
  • 20:00 - 20:05
So I split up my playlist
    spread with that.
  • 20:05 - 20:08
Anyway, I don't know why that
took me so long to explain.
  • 20:08 - 20:11
    One of my current favorite
    YouTube mixes to listen to
  • 20:11 - 20:14
    is by cafe BGM channel,
  • 20:14 - 20:15
which is the same channel that did
  • 20:15 - 20:19
the cafe Bossa Nova jazz mix versions
  • 20:19 - 20:22
    of the studio Ghibli songs
that I shared like a year ago,
  • 20:22 - 20:25
    but this specific video
    does that same thing,
  • 20:25 - 20:28
    except for Nora Jones songs.
  • 20:28 - 20:31
Who I love already her music as it is
  • 20:31 - 20:32
    is very jazzy and relaxing.
  • 20:32 - 20:36
    But the Bossa Nova jazz
    versions of the songs
  • 20:36 - 20:39
    are even more relaxing
  • 20:39 - 20:40
    and perfect to listen
    to while you're working.
  • 20:40 - 20:42
    So definitely recommend that one.
  • 20:42 - 20:45
    Everything will be linked down
below in case you're in need
  • 20:45 - 20:48
of some nice relaxing music to listen to.
  • 20:48 - 20:50
    Okay, we're almost at the
end of this set up here,
  • 20:50 - 20:55
    but this next spread is
basically just a brain dump page
  • 20:55 - 20:58
    except it is specifically for
    anything related to do with
  • 20:58 - 21:01
    the 2022 doodle planner launch.
  • 21:01 - 21:04
    I know I've been mentioning
    the doodle planner here
  • 21:04 - 21:07
and there in videos as I've
been working on it this year,
  • 21:07 - 21:10
    but we're coming up on
    the end of the year.
  • 21:10 - 21:15
And I can now say that November
    is when the 2022 doodle
  • 21:15 - 21:16
    planner will be released.
  • 21:16 - 21:20
    I can't give any more
    details on the specific date,
  • 21:20 - 21:22
but just know that it is coming.
  • 21:22 - 21:25
So I'm very excited for you to see it
  • 21:25 - 21:27
because I worked so hard on it this year.
  • 21:27 - 21:29
I made a couple changes to it
  • 21:29 - 21:31
that I think you guys are going to love.
  • 21:31 - 21:34
And it's just, it's been very fun.
  • 21:34 - 21:37
    There are definitely a lot
of things that I need to plan
  • 21:37 - 21:38
    in relation to the launch.
  • 21:38 - 21:41
    Like taking specific pictures,
  • 21:41 - 21:43
there's a lot of organization things
  • 21:43 - 21:45
that I also need to keep track of.
  • 21:46 - 21:48
So I am in definite need
    of this planning space,
  • 21:48 - 21:50
which is why it's just two blank pages
  • 21:50 - 21:51
    with a couple of doodles.
  • 21:51 - 21:52
    But yeah, get excited.
  • 21:52 - 21:54
Oh, I wish I could say more,
  • 21:54 - 21:57
but you guys will find out
    more about it soon anyway.
  • 21:58 - 22:02
    Alright, lastly we have the
    first weekly spread of October.
  • 22:02 - 22:04
    I kind of messed up.
  • 22:04 - 22:06
    I didn't, I don't know what
I was doing when I was doing
  • 22:06 - 22:08
    this weekly spread but
I was just kind of going
  • 22:08 - 22:10
    based off of, you know,
    what I had previously done.
  • 22:10 - 22:13
    This weekly spread you'll see
    that the numbers are actually
  • 22:13 - 22:16
for the last week of September.
  • 22:16 - 22:18
It kind of is like half and half,
  • 22:18 - 22:20
half the last week of September,
  • 22:20 - 22:22
half the first week of October.
  • 22:22 - 22:24
    Technically it should have
    been a September spread
  • 22:24 - 22:26
    because there are more September
    days, but I don't know.
  • 22:26 - 22:29
    My mind just automatically
just went to it in October.
  • 22:29 - 22:32
So I guess we ended the September
    theme a little bit early,
  • 22:32 - 22:33
    which is fine.
  • 22:33 - 22:36
    Just means that we'll
    have more weekly spreads
  • 22:36 - 22:37
    with the book theme.
  • 22:37 - 22:38
    So for this layout,
  • 22:38 - 22:43
I opted to do a spread that
    has a weekly events sidebar
  • 22:43 - 22:45
    on the left side.
  • 22:45 - 22:48
As you can see I drew it to
make it look like a bookshelf
  • 22:48 - 22:52
    because the weekly events sidebar,
  • 22:52 - 22:54
    taskbar always kind of looks
like a bookshelf to me anyway.
  • 22:54 - 22:57
    So I thought it was
    perfect for this theme.
  • 22:57 - 22:59
I drew eight shelves on my bookshelf.
  • 22:59 - 23:01
The top one has some book doodles in it.
  • 23:01 - 23:04
And then the bottom seven are
for where I'll put my weekly
  • 23:04 - 23:08
    events and appointments
    for each specific day.
  • 23:08 - 23:10
For the actual daily task boxes,
  • 23:10 - 23:13
    as you can see they're
    all on that right side,
  • 23:13 - 23:17
but I split the page up
    vertically into thirds.
  • 23:17 - 23:21
I believe the size of these
daily boxes are 12 by 12
  • 23:21 - 23:23
    with one space in between.
  • 23:23 - 23:25
I wanted to keep it pretty simple
  • 23:25 - 23:29
so the header is just a solid
    block of those neutral colors
  • 23:29 - 23:33
    that I've been using with
just the title of the day.
  • 23:33 - 23:35
I left some space for a
doodle and a quote, but yeah,
  • 23:35 - 23:38
    this layout is the layout
that I used to do quite a lot
  • 23:38 - 23:40
back in the day when I first
    started bullet journaling.
  • 23:40 - 23:42
And I feel like I've come back to it.
  • 23:42 - 23:45
    Especially recently I've
had a lot more like events
  • 23:45 - 23:48
    and appointments as
    things are picking back up
  • 23:48 - 23:50
and kind of going back to real life.
  • 23:50 - 23:53
    So I've been really liking
    having that events taskbar
  • 23:53 - 23:55
    or sidebar on the side,
  • 23:55 - 23:58
just so that I can kind of have a visual
  • 23:58 - 24:00
of what my week looks like.
  • 24:00 - 24:03
And then those daily to do
tasks are more for more of the
  • 24:03 - 24:06
    repetitive mundane task list items.
  • 24:06 - 24:08
The only other thing that I
    did for this weekly spread
  • 24:08 - 24:10
    is filling those empty spaces
  • 24:10 - 24:12
with a couple of quick book doodles.
  • 24:12 - 24:15
So I have one at the top
    that is the book open
  • 24:15 - 24:17
with some reading glasses and a pen.
  • 24:17 - 24:21
    And then at the bottom
    I drew a book stack.
  • 24:21 - 24:22
    I think these book
    doodles look really cute
  • 24:22 - 24:25
with this like loose illustrative style.
  • 24:25 - 24:27
It definitely gives it more of that
  • 24:27 - 24:30
    like vintage kind of handmade
    scrapbooky look to it.
  • 24:30 - 24:33
I'm also using a thinner fine
    liner throughout this setup
  • 24:33 - 24:34
    than I normally use.
  • 24:34 - 24:37
    Normally I'll use my Tombow
    Fudenosuke hard tip brush pen,
  • 24:37 - 24:39
which is obviously a little bit thicker
  • 24:39 - 24:44
    for outlining or I'll use
like 0.3 or 0.5 fine liner.
  • 24:45 - 24:48
But this time I used 0.2
because I felt like it gave,
  • 24:48 - 24:51
gives it more of like a
    pencil sketch type of vibe,
  • 24:51 - 24:55
which I think went with this
    theme really, really well.
  • 24:55 - 24:58
So yeah, that's it for this weekly spread.
  • 24:58 - 25:02
    Again, sorry that it's kind
    of like a September week.
  • 25:02 - 25:05
That was my bad, but again
    that just means we get
  • 25:05 - 25:09
to have fun with this cute
book theme for an extra week,
  • 25:09 - 25:11
which I am not mad at.
  • 25:11 - 25:13
Alright guys so we are done.
  • 25:13 - 25:14
    Here's the full flip through
  • 25:14 - 25:16
of my October, 2021 bullet journal setup
  • 25:16 - 25:21
    with our reading slash
    books slash library theme.
  • 25:21 - 25:22
    I loved the setup.
  • 25:22 - 25:24
I think it was also fun for me to make.
  • 25:24 - 25:27
    Definitely very relaxing
    as I listened to jazz.
  • 25:27 - 25:31
And it has me ready for
    fall cozy season for sure.
  • 25:32 - 25:33
Alright guys, so that was it for my
  • 25:33 - 25:35
    October, 2021 plan with me.
  • 25:35 - 25:37
    I hope you guys enjoyed.
  • 25:37 - 25:40
    Of course as usual while
    we're closing off this video
  • 25:40 - 25:44
here are some of your recreations
    from last month over here,
  • 25:44 - 25:46
    look at them.
  • 25:46 - 25:48
They're so cute and beautiful and lovely.
  • 25:48 - 25:51
If you guys do recreate any of my spreads,
  • 25:51 - 25:54
    whether it be this
    month's previous month's,
  • 25:54 - 25:55
I always love looking through them
  • 25:55 - 25:57
and seeing all of your recreations.
  • 25:57 - 26:00
You can tag me on any
    social media platform.
  • 26:00 - 26:02
    Recently, I've been seeing
    a lot of recreation's
  • 26:02 - 26:03
    on Tik Tok as well.
  • 26:03 - 26:05
So you can tag me there.
  • 26:05 - 26:07
If you do want to see how
    the rest of my spreads
  • 26:07 - 26:08
    for this month turn out
  • 26:08 - 26:11
I do weekly live streams on Twitch.
  • 26:11 - 26:13
    I do my weekly spread.
  • 26:13 - 26:14
    It's a really fun time.
  • 26:14 - 26:16
    You can chat, hang out
    with other little doodles.
  • 26:16 - 26:20
    And I feel like it's a
good way to also see how
  • 26:20 - 26:22
    I create my weekly spreads
    because it's real time.
  • 26:22 - 26:24
    So it's a bit more
    chill than these videos.
  • 26:24 - 26:27
And it's just a great way
    to start off your weekend.
  • 26:27 - 26:28
    So come join us.
  • 26:28 - 26:31
Twitch links, all of that over here.
  • 26:31 - 26:33
And I think that is pretty much it.
  • 26:33 - 26:36
I talk a lot in these videos.
  • 26:36 - 26:38
I just realized how much I talk.
  • 26:38 - 26:42
But that's, you know, what can you do?
  • 26:42 - 26:45
You guys have a lovely day, week, month,
  • 26:45 - 26:48
and I will see you in the next one.
  • 26:48 - 26:50
    Keep doodling, bye.
  • 26:50 - 26:53
    (gentle music)
