Sea Monster Jellyfish Octopus Balloon Animals

  • 0:05 - 0:07
We are going to make sea monster
  • 0:07 - 0:10
in a shape of a jellyfish of octopus.
  • 0:10 - 0:11
    Inflate balloon leaving about two
  • 0:11 - 0:13
    three inch flat tail.
  • 0:13 - 0:15
Squeeze the balloon to make it soft.
  • 0:15 - 0:18
Pump the air to the end of the flat tail.
  • 0:18 - 0:21
We are going to use four balloons
  • 0:21 - 0:23
uh... to make I would say
  • 0:23 - 0:25
    medium size sculpture.
  • 0:25 - 0:27
    It is the Halloween season.
  • 0:27 - 0:29
    Orange and black preferable colors
  • 0:29 - 0:30
    for this occasion.
  • 0:30 - 0:32
    Fold the balloon in half.
  • 0:32 - 0:33
    Mark the spot.
  • 0:33 - 0:35
    Twist the bubble.
  • 0:35 - 0:37
    We have made two tentacles.
  • 0:37 - 0:39
    We can use one balloon
  • 0:39 - 0:40
    per tentacle
  • 0:40 - 0:43
    to make larger size sculptures.
  • 0:43 - 0:45
Then it would take ten balloons to make it.
  • 0:45 - 0:47
Well, if you work with 160's
  • 0:47 - 0:50
then you can use one balloon to make
  • 0:50 - 0:51
    four tentacles.
  • 0:51 - 0:53
We have to twist all balloons
  • 0:53 - 0:55
    in the same way.
  • 0:55 - 0:57
And lock all balloons in the center
  • 0:57 - 0:59
    in one lock twist.
  • 0:59 - 1:00
    In this example
  • 1:00 - 1:03
I twist and lock all balloons
  • 1:03 - 1:04
    one by one.
  • 1:04 - 1:06
    You can speed it up.
  • 1:06 - 1:09
Just hold all four balloons in one hand
  • 1:09 - 1:10
    at the middle
  • 1:10 - 1:12
to twist and lock them all
  • 1:12 - 1:14
    in one move.
  • 1:14 - 1:17
Try to make all tentacles of the same size.
  • 1:17 - 1:18
    Slight difference,
  • 1:18 - 1:19
    upto one inch,
  • 1:19 - 1:22
    in size of tentacles
  • 1:22 - 1:25
    will be not really noticable
  • 1:25 - 1:28
when we are done with this sculpture.
  • 1:28 - 1:29
    Alright.
  • 1:29 - 1:30
    Here we have connected all
  • 1:30 - 1:33
    eight tentacles.
  • 1:33 - 1:35
    The sculpture looks like...hhm,
  • 1:35 - 1:37
    some kind of star
  • 1:37 - 1:38
    at this point.
  • 1:38 - 1:40
    Our next step various.
  • 1:40 - 1:42
It depends on what we want to make.
  • 1:42 - 1:45
Suppose we want to make a jellyfish.
  • 1:45 - 1:46
Put our sculpture aside for now.
  • 1:46 - 1:48
Get a flat balloon of any color.
  • 1:48 - 1:51
And tie both ends of the flat balloon
  • 1:51 - 1:55
    in one knot.
  • 1:55 - 1:56
Put your hand through the loop
  • 1:56 - 1:59
    of the flat balloon.
  • 1:59 - 2:00
  • 2:00 - 2:03
Hold the sculpture at the center
  • 2:03 - 2:05
    in the hand with...
  • 2:05 - 2:09
with the flat balloon on it.
  • 2:09 - 2:10
    Use your other hand
  • 2:10 - 2:13
    to roll the flat balloon
  • 2:13 - 2:15
    down the sculpture.
  • 2:15 - 2:16
    I place the flat balloon
  • 2:16 - 2:19
    about one third or
  • 2:19 - 2:22
on fourth of the length of the sculpture
  • 2:22 - 2:25
    down from the center.
  • 2:25 - 2:28
You can use appropriate size rubber band
  • 2:28 - 2:31
    instead of the flat balloon.
  • 2:31 - 2:35
The only purpose of the band is to
  • 2:35 - 2:39
    keep all bubbles together.
  • 2:39 - 2:41
    Here is the side view.
  • 2:41 - 2:43
    The loose ends of balloons
  • 2:43 - 2:46
    represent tentacles.
  • 2:46 - 2:49
    Let's shape them.
  • 2:49 - 2:52
  • 2:52 - 2:57
    Basically I threefold each tentacle.
  • 2:57 - 2:59
    It is very simple.
  • 2:59 - 3:03
    As you can see it.
  • 3:03 - 3:05
The top part of the sculpture
  • 3:05 - 3:07
    represents the head
  • 3:07 - 3:09
or the body of the jellyfish.
  • 3:09 - 3:12
I don't know the proper name for it.
  • 3:12 - 3:14
So, what do you call it?
  • 3:14 - 3:15
    A belly-head?!
  • 3:15 - 3:18
    I guess something like that.
  • 3:18 - 3:18
    Okey.
  • 3:18 - 3:22
Here I have to shape a couple more tentacles.
  • 3:22 - 3:24
And then we are going to decorate
  • 3:24 - 3:27
the top part of the sculpture.
  • 3:27 - 3:30
Ahh...we can use the simplest makeup.
  • 3:30 - 3:31
  • 3:31 - 3:34
    Yes, a permanent black marker.
  • 3:34 - 3:36
    It will do the magic.
  • 3:36 - 3:42
    Just draw the eyes.
  • 3:42 - 3:45
Here, I am shaping the last tentacle.
  • 3:45 - 3:46
  • 3:46 - 3:47
    That's it.
  • 3:47 - 3:48
    Congratulations.
  • 3:48 - 3:52
    We have made the jellyfish.
  • 3:52 - 3:55
Instead of using a permanent black marker
  • 3:55 - 3:56
    for decoration.
  • 3:56 - 3:59
We can use a spare balloon
  • 3:59 - 4:01
    to make the eyes.
  • 4:01 - 4:04
Here I am going to use a black balloon.
  • 4:04 - 4:07
Actually we need just a couple inch piece of balloon.
  • 4:07 - 4:09
    Not entire balloon.
  • 4:09 - 4:17
Twist a chain of two soft one inch bubbles.
  • 4:17 - 4:18
    Now we have to lock
  • 4:18 - 4:20
    all ends of two bubbles
  • 4:20 - 4:23
    in one lock twist.
  • 4:23 - 4:37
  • 4:37 - 4:42
You can use scissors to cut off the rest of the balloon.
  • 4:42 - 4:44
Or do it with your fingers.
  • 4:44 - 4:48
    It's up to you.
  • 4:48 - 4:50
    We have made the eyeballs.
  • 4:50 - 4:51
    Okey.
  • 4:51 - 4:54
    Here we chose any bubble
  • 4:54 - 4:58
in the upper part of the sculpture.
  • 4:58 - 4:59
    Twist a bubble.
  • 4:59 - 5:03
I made it about five inch.
  • 5:03 - 5:05
Right here we attach the eyeballs.
  • 5:05 - 5:10
  • 5:10 - 5:11
    Once again,
  • 5:11 - 5:14
we fix all bubbles in proper positions.
  • 5:14 - 5:17
  • 5:17 - 5:19
    Congratulations.
  • 5:19 - 5:22
We have made the sea monster.
  • 5:22 - 5:25
  • 5:25 - 5:27
    That's the front view.
  • 5:27 - 5:29
    Here is the bottom view.
  • 5:29 - 5:34
  • 5:34 - 5:36
    The side view
  • 5:36 - 5:38
    and the top view.
  • 5:38 - 5:40
Now we are going to use the same sculpture
  • 5:40 - 5:44
to make a bit different sea monster.
  • 5:44 - 5:46
    Remove the rubber band.
  • 5:46 - 5:48
    Instead of rubber band
  • 5:48 - 5:49
    we twist bubbles
  • 5:49 - 5:51
    and lock them together.
  • 5:51 - 5:53
We can twist bubbles one by one
  • 5:53 - 5:54
    or in bunch.
  • 5:54 - 5:56
    It is possible to twist
  • 5:56 - 5:57
    all eight bubbles
  • 5:57 - 5:59
    in one move.
  • 5:59 - 6:03
In this example I twist and lock three bubbles
  • 6:03 - 6:04
    in one move.
  • 6:04 - 6:06
Now I am going to twist and lock
  • 6:06 - 6:10
all other bubbles one by one.
  • 6:10 - 6:12
    Sculpture made in this way
  • 6:12 - 6:14
    has more distinguished head
  • 6:14 - 6:17
    then the previous sculpture.
  • 6:17 - 6:20
I am not really sure if this sculpture
  • 6:20 - 6:23
    looks like an octopus.
  • 6:23 - 6:25
Well, at least it has the same number
  • 6:25 - 6:28
    of tentacles as all octopus
  • 6:28 - 6:30
    supposes to have.
  • 6:30 - 6:32
    Eight tentacles.
  • 6:32 - 6:33
  • 6:33 - 6:35
Here we have two more bubbles to twist
  • 6:35 - 6:37
    before we will be done
  • 6:37 - 6:40
    with this sea monster.
  • 6:40 - 6:41
    Most certainly,
  • 6:41 - 6:45
twisting all bubbles in one move
  • 6:45 - 6:47
    ahh...saves a lot of time.
  • 6:47 - 6:50
It's not easy to hold eight balloons
  • 6:50 - 6:51
    in one hand.
  • 6:51 - 6:55
But, no one say that you have to hold balloons
  • 6:55 - 6:57
    only in your hands.
  • 6:57 - 7:00
We can use our entire body for this purpose.
  • 7:00 - 7:03
Any time I have to twist big number of balloons
  • 7:03 - 7:04
    at once,
  • 7:04 - 7:07
I hold them under my armpit or
  • 7:07 - 7:10
    between legs.
  • 7:10 - 7:11
  • 7:11 - 7:12
    Okey.
  • 7:12 - 7:13
    Congratulations,
  • 7:13 - 7:15
we have made the sea monster.
  • 7:15 - 7:17
    Let's fix all bubbles in
  • 7:17 - 7:22
    proper positions.
  • 7:22 - 7:25
Previously we have made the eyes and
  • 7:25 - 7:28
have already shaped the tentacles as well.
  • 7:28 - 7:30
So, there is no much left to do,
  • 7:30 - 7:35
    but enjoy the sculpture.
  • 7:35 - 7:37
    Here is the front view.
  • 7:37 - 7:39
    The side view.
  • 7:39 - 7:42
  • 7:42 - 7:44
    The back view.
  • 7:44 - 7:46
    And the bottom view.
  • 7:46 - 7:50
  • 7:50 - 7:53
    Here is the different color
  • 7:53 - 7:54
    sea monster.
  • 7:54 - 7:56
    I made it blue
  • 7:56 - 8:00
    with eight or seven eyes.
  • 8:00 - 8:02
I use a permanent black marker
  • 8:02 - 8:06
to draw the eyes in this example.
  • 8:06 - 8:07
    In my experience,
  • 8:07 - 8:09
little kids love to play with
  • 8:09 - 8:10
    this kind of toys.
  • 8:10 - 8:12
    So, I really suggest you
  • 8:12 - 8:15
    give it a try.
  • 8:15 - 8:16
Have fun and happy twisting :)
