A Dharma Talk is a practice.
-
And it's best when we listen.
-
We stop our thinking , we just allow the Dharma to penetrate into our
-
our heart.
-
No thinking.
-
It's strange, but that is the practice
-
that we do.
-
Our mind is like the soil.
-
The garden.
-
There are many good seeds that are already in it,
-
and the seed of understanding, the seed of love,
-
the seed of forgiveness, the seed of joy and hope.
-
We have many good seeds in the soil of our consciousness.
-
So I a good Dharma Talk is a talk that can water the good seeds in us,
-
and help them to sprout and bring up the energy of joy, happiness, understanding, and love.
-
Therefore we don't need to think,
-
just allow the Dharma Talk as the rain penetrating into the soil of our heart,
-
and help water the good seeds in us.
-
The way we used to listen is
-
to compare what we know and the things that are being said.
-
When someone say something, we want to bring our our knowledge up and we compare.
-
If they coincide,
-
and then we said, yes, I agree.
-
And if they do not coincide,
-
we said, no, I don't agree.
-
And in both case, we learn nothing.
-
So the best kind of listening is
-
no comparing, no thinking.
-
just allow the Dharma Talk to penetrate and to work on the land of our soil.
-
That is the art of listening to a Dharma Talk.
