Hello all
-
I'm Evildea, your God
-
And today I want to speak about
-
a very new ... or old ...
-
depending on your perspective
-
language, which I've just uncovered
-
So, this film is about the Proto-European language
-
but not about a theoretical language which existed
-
but about a re-constructed language
-
which was created for the game, Far Cry
-
Far cry is an adventure game
-
which was programmed and published by Ubisoft.
-
It made its début on the PlayStation 4 and X-box One
-
on the 23rd of February, 2016
-
It's the first title in the Far Cry series
-
which takes part during the stone age.
-
The story is about Takkar
-
who at the start is a weapon-less hunter
-
and then becomes chief of his tribe
-
Everything takes part 10,000 years ago
-
In the fictitious land of Oros.
-
And now that which most interests me!
-
The main writer Keven Shortt
-
said that the plan was originally for Far Cry Primal
-
to be performed in English
-
but active testing proved to the designers
-
that English just wasn't suitable
-
for the game environment
-
The team then contacted linguists
-
from the University of Kentucky
-
experts on the Proto-European language
-
The linguists and couple
-
Brenna Reinhart Byrd and Andrew Miles Byrd
-
immediately and excitedly started
-
working on the new language.
-
They created three languages for the game
-
Wenja, Udam, and Izila
-
all were based on the Proto-European language
-
or at least similar to what the linguists
-
guess it to be.
-
They wanted to create a new language
-
which was balanced between
-
the authentic Proto-European language
-
and at the same time
-
an artificial reconstruction.
-
In total, they created a grammar and 40,000 words
-
for three languages
-
Wenja and Udam are grammatically and lexically similar
-
but are different in pronunciation.
-
Izila, the language of the fire worshippers, is
-
grammatically more complex than the other two
-
to intentionally indicate the more developed state
-
of that tribe.
-
The three languages use roots from
-
the etymological dictionary of Indo-European languages
-
but when a suitable word couldn't be found
-
the solution was to
-
(1) take them from Latin
-
Greek, Ancient Greek, Sanskrit, and Hittite languages
-
or (2) create them.
-
From now, I'll only talk about Wenja
-
All the vowels in Wenja are similar to Esperanto
-
except in these cases:
-
A + Y have the sound ai from "belaj"
-
A + W have the sound from the word "aŭ"
-
The consonants are more different
-
Here are the diferences
-
W is equal to the English W
-
Similar to the Esperanto word "aŭ" without the A sound
-
The letters C + H are equal to CH
-
The letters J is equal to G (George)
-
The letters S + H are equal to SH
-
The Y is equal to Y
-
The letters K + W are equal to QU (Quick)
-
The letters G + W are equal to GW (Gwen)
-
The accent usually falls overn every second syllable
-
but not always
-
Here are several examples
-
And here are the pronouns
-
I am MU
-
You are TA
-
but she, he and it don't have a pronoun
-
That one is SA
-
We is MAS
-
You all is TAN
-
They is SAY
-
Wenja is Subject-Verb-Object
-
But prepositions usually usually fall after
-
the pronouns and nouns
-
to which they belong
-
similar to Chinese
-
and function almost like affixes
-
and now a few sentences in Wenja
-
Go out at night and count the stars
-
that is how many years I'll wait for you
-
I'm not flirting with you
-
I'm just more kind to people
-
who are more beautiful than usual
-
and that is everything
