My name is Heather, and I'm teaching the next generation of Webmakers.
-
Hi I'm Chris, and I'm educating the next generation of Webmakers.
-
My name is Zainab, I'm 15,
-
and I'm teaching the future generation of Webmakers.
-
It's like learning a new language.
-
It's so unfamiliar, yet it's something that we all use everyday.
-
Everyone should be learning a little bit of code as they are growing up.
-
At Mozilla I helped younger kids to learn how to use a web tool and Hackasaurus.
-
And I helped them learn how to remix the web, how to change the web, and make whatever they want.
-
Just make something,
-
like, create stuff that you're going to be proud of.
-
I think someone who sends a tweet,
-
or uploads their vacation photos to Flickr,
-
is on a beginning path towards Webmaking.
-
There are distinct, new literacies, and code,
-
understanding how digital things work,
-
how to interact with them,
-
is that sort of core literacy.
-
And if we can raise kids, to all be Webmakers,
-
to all have that sort of skill set,
-
the next generation is going to be able to do
-
really amazing things that right now, we cannot even imagine.
