-
Today is day 1 of not using social media.
-
I'm so addicted to social media that
-
the first thing that I do when I wake up is check my Twitter
-
check my Instagram, check Youtube,
-
and because I wasn't able to that in the morning,
-
I didn't really have motivation to wake up,
-
and actually get out of bed.
-
So, I ended up sleeping in today.
-
The reason I'm doing this is because I realised that
-
my days could be so much more productive
-
if I didn't have social media
-
because I spend so much time on Twitter
-
I don't really have much to do other than study.
-
I'm gonna study biochem today.
-
I'm like extremely bored right now.
-
I guess I'll just like show you guys around my apartment.
-
Technically, this isn't my apartment.
-
This is my parents' place.
-
I'm only here over the summer and winter [breaks].
-
But yeah, I guess I'll just show you guys around very quickly.
-
because I have nothing else to do with my life.
-
This is my room.
-
My ARMY bomb is just chilling right here.
-
This is from when I won prom queen.
-
I peaked in high school.
-
This is an empty bottle of holy water.
-
MCAT study guides...
-
my valedictorian medal from high school
-
I peaked in high school.
-
This is how I film my study time lapses.
-
I literally tape my phone to this thing.
-
and then I turn on the lights here.
-
and I study.
-
Isn't this genius?
-
Not really.
-
There's nothing really special here.
-
my makeup palettes,
-
I have a bunch of falsies that I never wear
-
because I don't like wearing false lashes
-
but I didn't know that back when I bought all these.
-
Here is my closet.
-
Then, right next to my bedroom, there's my parents' bedroom.
-
This room is pretty empty.
-
I think they're gonna put like a coffee table here or something.
-
And the there's also a closet here
-
that I won't go into
-
This is a bathroom.
-
Not really going to go into that, either.
-
Let's go down here.
-
This is the living room area.
-
That's me.
-
That's me and my sister.
-
That's also me.
-
That's me and my sister.
-
That's me.
-
Wait, is this me? Oh no, this is not me.
-
This is my sister.
-
Where am I?
-
Wait, is that me?
-
Oh no, okay, that's not me.
-
This is me.
-
That's my sister.
-
There's another smaller bathroom.
-
And then, this is the kitchen area.
-
And then, if you go down another flight of stairs.
-
We have our laundry machines.
-
We also have a freezer here.
-
This is my dad's office area.
-
I brought out this box.
-
It's like my little memory box.
-
I haven't opened it in like 2 years.
-
I'm not gonna show you guys everything.
-
cuz a lot of these things are pretty personal,
-
but this is the first thing I see.
-
2017 prom caricature.
-
Okay, let's start reading these letters.
-
Oh, boy.
-
I don't think this is gonna be a good time.
-
[Cue sad music]
-
[tears up]
-
This is just a list of everyone's superlative,
-
and mine was "most likely to be at HMart dressed like a fashionista".
-
"Your obsession with HMart is slightly concerning."
-
"You're irresistibly cute with the slightest hint of creepy."
-
Why do I have this?
-
I'm literally not even in these pictures. What?
-
Dude, I literally look the same and this was 2011.
-
This is the autograph that I got from Song Joong Ki.
-
(reading my 8th grade diary)
-
Guys, I'm scared.
-
Jan 22, 2013.
-
[I'm not me.]
-
What does this mean?
-
I'm gonna write in my diary.
-
I haven't written in this diary since 4-5 years ago?
-
I'm just gonna write a message down to my middle school self.
-
One of my subscribers published her own book of poems.
-
She actually sent me two copies, so
-
I think I'm gonna keep one copy and put one of them in a
-
What's it called? Little free library?
-
Where you put in one book and you take one book.
-
I think that's what it's called.
-
Update on the no social media thing.
-
I'm so tempted to redownload Twitter and check
-
This is so hard.
-
I need my daily dose of BTS.
-
This is so bad.
-
I didn't really tell my friends that I was going on a social media detox,
-
so there are probably a few people waiting for me to reply to their DMs.
-
Oops?
-
These pages smell really good.
-
(I couldn't find a book I wanted to read, so I just put mine in)
-
So, it's the end of day1.
-
I worried that if I got off social media,
-
I would feel very disconnected from the world
-
because I usually get all of my information about
-
what's going on in society through Twitter,
-
through Instagram, through social media, right?
-
but if anything, it feels nice to not have to get updates on everything.
-
I was able to fall asleep pretty quickly last night.
-
Usually I spend hours in my bed on my phone.
-
but since I had nothing to do on my phone
-
I just slept.
-
I feel like this challenge is pointless because
-
Once the 3 days are over,
-
I'm probably gonna go back and spend more time on social media.
-
I don't even know where this video is going.
-
There's a dead fly.
-
I'm going to go to the library today and study and get work done.
-
(Apparently the library closes at 6pm, so I got kicked out)
-
(I'm awkwardly waiting for my dad to pick me up at HomeGoods lol)
-
My parents' 25 anniversary cake
-
Hi, guys.
-
I came back from the library,
-
I ate dinner, I took a shower, and here I am.
-
I don't think today I suffered as much as I did yesterday
-
in terms of the no social media thing.
-
I still do habitually check my phone periodically.
-
The biggest difference in my lifestyle
-
is that my days feel significantly longer
-
because I'm not spending so much time on my phone anymore.
-
I feel like because it's summer break and I have so much free time,
-
I've been spending a lot of time on social media just because I can.
-
Usually, during the school year, I won't be able to spend this much time
-
on social media just scrolling through Twitter.
-
I think this video is helping me get back on track.
-
It's hard to go from one extreme to another,
-
spending my whole day on social media to
-
being too busy to not keep up with stuff.
-
It's a good transition step for me.
-
Did that make any sense?
-
I'm pretty tired right now,
-
so I think I'm just gonna call it a day early.
-
Hi, guys. Today's the next day
-
I had a very late start to my day. I woke up past noon.
-
I think I'm just gonna spend the rest of my day editing a video
-
and responding to business emails etc.
-
I have my purple sweet potato smoothie.
-
I read somewhere that if you make a smoothie right after you wake up,
-
then you're more likely to spend a more productive day.
-
I don't even know if that's true, but...
-
(editing intro of this video)
-
(I have no idea what I'm doing in this clip but I look focused)
-
My dad's iPad came in the mail,
-
and I thought I would show you how satisfying this is.
-
Okay, that's it. Bye.
-
it's the end of the day
-
so I'm just gonna go ahead and redownload all of my social media.
-
While that's downloading, I'm going to share my thoughts
-
on the past 3 days without social media.
-
It was nice while it lasted, but
-
I also can't wait to go back on Twitter.
-
In a YouTuber standpoint,
-
I think it was a break that was very much needed for me.
-
I do check comments.
-
I also do check my view counts on certain videos.
-
I check my subscriber count.
-
I check those at least once a day, which
-
is probably not the healthiest habit to have.
-
Going 3 days without having to worry about any numbers
-
was refreshing and much needed.
-
Also, in terms of the comments,
-
sometimes I'll read a hate comment and
-
that will kill my mood for the entire day,
-
so it was nice not having to deal with hate comments over the 3 days.
-
(scrolling through bird app)
-
(watching JK's rap in Ddaeng)
-
Okay, well,
-
That was it for this video,
-
Thanks for watching until the end,
-
I'll see you in my next one.
