    I needed to do some art for the game and

    then I was like I'm sorry David I have

    to go downstairs and take everything out

    of the closet so we can hide in it so he

    was just like a nice visual visual cue

    yeah neither of us has seen the movie

    the lighthouse which people have brought

    I thought is interesting I haven't seen

    inspired by the smalls lighthouse

    incident which is what this game is

    who's played it thinks it's small island

    lows and not smalls island yeah which is

    great that's our own fault for giving it

    a weird name yeah I mean we were asking

    for four forget people to get it wrong

    mmm-hmm because we were trying to figure

    out a title and I'm like I really I

    think what happened on Small's Island

    was really scary and sad and interesting

    and you're like smalls I love most is

    the title and I was like yeah that

    sounds great and that's how we got the
  • 2:23 - 2:28
    title it's not directly related like
  • 2:25 - 2:31
    whatever happened and and that like true

    life story is not related to the game or
  • 2:31 - 2:39
    is it there's only one lighthouse keeper
  • 2:35 - 2:40
    in this game yeah so and I thought I

    keep looking at this because this is
  • 2:40 - 2:44
    like a glitch and the textures that
  • 2:42 - 2:45
    people keep thinking is a tower in the
  • 2:44 - 2:49
    distance and I think that's funny

    yeah happens inside the furnace fear
  • 2:49 - 2:55
    that's one of the themes of this fear
  • 2:52 - 2:58
    the island really is just another block
  • 2:55 - 3:00
    that I played around with him blender

    and then I had to block everything with

    invisible walls because because this

    there was a lot of lot of bugs early on

    fisherman I think that was one of the

    ones that you wanted me to draw

    specifically was a fisherman he's got a

    little bucket of fish heads yeah and I

    gave him chopper eyes I gave all the
  • 3:22 - 3:26
    NPC's Tony Tony chopper eyes to try to
  • 3:24 - 3:28
    make them look friendlier because our
  • 3:26 - 3:30
    idea was kind of had to have like
  • 3:28 - 3:33
    friendly stock NPCs who get more and
  • 3:30 - 3:37
    more like corrupted as the game goes on
  • 3:33 - 3:40
    or meaner or creepier yeah and I think
  • 3:37 - 3:43
    that wait we got there people get
  • 3:40 - 3:45
    freaked out as the game goes on who did
  • 3:43 - 3:46
    you say people keep saying he looks like
  • 3:45 - 3:48

    Neph game is the name from from the

    movies okay it's an African yes thank

    kind of like weird not realistic voice

    acting in that game makes it creepier

    and then that's what's on the island as

    bushes and a couple of little things

    having the same PNG that just sent me

    just like a really tall version of it

    some level of personality and the lady

    and the fisherman are just voiced by two

    of my friends who are on a podcast with

    me who I know would be free and and a

    mysterious other character that comes in

    later is voiced by our friend who does

    voice I can stuff a decent degree -

    oh yeah I didn't realize you can see the

    meaning put in and then not notice stuff

    were calling it Lovecraftian and I was

    like it's not really left crafting like

    it's not supposed to be a Lovecraft

    thing then I was like wait I did the

    plants purple because of the color out

    of space which is a Lovecraft story so I

    was like well I guess it's a little bit

    Lovecraftian farming disease make a

    couple of monsters that I live there
