Caesarean Section: Step 1 - Cleansing patient

  • 0:03 - 0:07
So this is the first step of the procedure
  • 0:07 - 0:11
where we'll be cleaning the abodmen and draping
  • 0:11 - 0:17
so that for the cleaning of the abdomen we are going to use X solution,
  • 0:17 - 0:21
and cleaning with the x solution
  • 0:21 - 0:23
will be at least two to three times
  • 0:23 - 0:24
    and the cleaning will start
  • 0:24 - 0:29
with the area where the incision will be done
  • 0:29 - 0:30
    and then outwards
  • 0:30 - 0:33
and ranging, we should clean the area between the sternum up to the mid thigh
  • 0:33 - 0:42
and while cleaning is being done, around the end of the cleaning
  • 0:42 - 0:45
the woman will be induced with general anesthesia
  • 0:45 - 0:49
if she's going to be taking general anesthesia
  • 0:49 - 0:53
so that will decrease the anesthesia time
  • 0:53 - 0:59
but if it's spinal anesthesia, then the anesthesia will be before the woman is going to lie down
  • 0:59 - 1:03
and after cleaning with the x
  • 1:03 - 1:10
then dry, paint, or clean with idoine,
  • 1:10 - 1:15
    preferably povidone iodine
  • 1:15 - 1:31
after this then we'll be draping with sterile drapes
