-
Assalamu alaikum everyone.
-
My name is Faraz Butt
-
and I live in Lahore.
-
My grandfather,
-
he was basically from Amritsar
-
- or probably Gurdaspur district, I mean.
-
Basically, his village was
-
Fatehgarh Churian.
-
I'm not sure as to whether
-
it's in Gurdaspur or Amritsar district.
-
Anyway, he migrated from there to Lahore.
-
We usually ask him to tell us stories
-
of how he reached Lahore.
-
He then goes on to tell us that he arrived
-
in Lahore on a train and stuff, right?
-
Then he settled down here permanently.
-
His house was on Nisbat Road.
-
It's near Lakshmi Chowk.
-
That's where his house was.
-
He later moved out from there.
-
He moved to Chowk Chauburji, then Sabzazar
-
and we've moved in now
-
near Raiwind Road. Okay?
-
It's quite far from the city,
-
but we've moved in here.
-
Right? And I'm studying.
-
Currently I am doing my A Levels
-
from Aitchison College.
-
And I did my O Levels from here too.
-
I've been studying here for about
-
10 years.
-
I got my admission in 2011.
-
So, yeah, 9 years.
-
Let's see. In a month or two, I'll start
-
applying to universities, God willing.
-
Let's pray I get into LUMS.
-
I will apply to NUST also, God willing.
-
And... we'll see.
-
For now, I'm making his video.
-
Majhi is a dialect of Punjabi.
-
Majhi Punjabi is spoken in Lahore,
-
Amritsar, Gurdaspur,
-
Gujranwala and surrounding areas. "Majha".
-
And... Punjabi is our language
-
and we should promote it, right?
-
I don't know about India
-
but it isn't promoted at all in Pakistan.
-
And... yeah, we should do that.
-
It's the right thing to do.
-
Only when we promote it,
-
the language will grow, right?
-
What do you think? Am I right?
