-
It is quite hot here in Mumbai
-
where as the box office numbers are not
-
As we said it’s a fickle thing
-
Sometimes goes up and
sometimes down!
-
Welcome to NUMBER GAME
with me Himesh
-
Where we discuss nothing but numbers
-
That is the box office
collections of feature films
-
Since 2009 Eid releases have been
synonymous to Salman Khan films
-
He started his journey
on the festival with Wanted
-
and followed it up with
-
Dabbang, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Kick,
Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan,Tube Light, race 3 and Bharat
-
good, bad or ugly his films always
recorded a solid opening weekend
-
even an offbeat film like TubeLight had
taken a very good start of 21 crore
-
This Eid the scenario was different as no
Salman Khan film saw a release on the big screen
-
The 2 Eid releases of 2022 are
-
Runway 34 with Ajay Devgn,
Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh
-
And Heropanti 2 with Tiger Shroff
Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui
-
Let's start today's episode by analyzing
the box office collection of Runway 34
-
Runway 34 took
a slow start at the box office
-
on friday it collected 3 crores
-
followed by a 50% jump on Saturday
with collections of four and a half crores
-
and finally another 33% jump
on Sunday to clock 5.75 crores
-
with this the opening weekend of Runway 34
stands at thirteen and a half crores
-
these are low collections
no doubt
-
but the upward trend
over the weekend has given
-
some hope of
sustenance on the weekdays
-
The Eid holiday falls
on Tuesday and on that day
-
there should be some sort of
jump in collections of Runway 34
-
while Runway 34 saw an
upward trend over the weekend
-
Heropanti 2 went down
with every passing day
-
it collected 6.25 crores
on the opening day
-
followed by 4.75 crores
on the second day
-
and finally
-
three and a half crores
on third day
-
with this opening weekend collection
of Heropanti 2 stands at
-
Fourteen and a half crores
-
these are again poor figures
but unlike Runway 34
-
the problem here for
Heropanti 2 is that the collections
-
have come down
with every passing day
-
This doesn't give an encouraging signal
as far as long run is concerned
-
The opening weekend numbers of Runway 34
and Heropanti 2 are not up to the mark
-
In fact, one expected lot lot
more from the 2 Eid releases
-
Because the standards set
over the last few years are quite high
-
But what would happen in the future?
-
Well, with the trend
we can say that Heropanti 2
-
might not have any legs
to sustain in the days to come
-
Even the Eid holiday
won't help the film much
-
As far as Runway 34 is concerned
-
yes it might show some hold because there is
some sort of word of mouth in its target audience
-
that is multiplex
-
But how far will it go?
-
is something we can't answer because
-
the target audience of Runway 34 has
a big Hollywood release next week
-
That is
-
Dr Strange
-
So yes the Eid weekend or let's say
the pre- Eid-weekend has been disappointing
-
And now let's see if the film manages
to capitalize on the Eid holiday on Tuesday
-
It has been a disappointing
weekend for the 2 Eid releases
-
Runway 34 & Heropanti 2
-
While the upward
trend has given some hope
-
for Runway 34 to capitalize
on the Eid holiday on Tuesday
-
It's curtains down for Heropanti 2
-
as the business has
gone down with every passing day
-
KGF 2 on the other hand
in its third week
-
is continuing to
roar at the box office
-
In fact, the third-weekend collection
you heard that right!
-
The third-weekend collection of KGF Chapter 2
-
is higher than the
first-weekend collection of
-
Both Heropanti 2 & Runway 34
-
KGF 2 collected 4 crores
on Friday followed by a big jump
-
to collect 7 crores on Saturday
and finally another big jump
-
to collect 10 crores on Sunday
-
These are excellent numbers
-
And the film is now on its course
to do 400 crores in the hindi belts
-
With this KGF 2 will become the 2nd highest
grossing film of all time in the Hindi belt
-
After Bahubali 2
-
which had collected 511 crores
-
That also means KGF 2 will surpass the
box office collection of all Hindi films including
-
the highest-grossing
Hindi film of all time,
-
Dangal
fronted by Aamir Khan
-
What went wrong with the two Eid releases?
Runway 34 & Heropanti 2
-
The answer is simple
-
One was a bad film!
-
The other was a niche film!
-
One film didn't excite the audience
-
the other film appealed to
a very limited section of the audience
-
That was it for this Eid
-
But next Eid promises to be action-packed
as Salman Khan returns with
-
Tiger 3 which is expected
to set the box office on fire
-
That was it in today's episode
