    Marriage and Children
  • 0:15 - 0:17
Have you ever come close to getting married?
  • 0:18 - 0:18
    No, never.
  • 0:19 - 0:23
I have been against marriage from the very beginning,
  • 0:24 - 0:25
    because it means
  • 0:29 - 0:30
    cutting down your freedom.
  • 0:33 - 0:34
    Getting
  • 0:38 - 0:39
    attached
  • 0:40 - 0:44
legally to a woman or to a man, no
  • 0:45 - 0:47
    Freedom to me
  • 0:47 - 0:49
    is the ultimate value,
  • 0:51 - 0:53
there is nothing higher than freedom.
  • 0:56 - 0:58
    It was difficult,
  • 1:00 - 1:02
because I was fighting from the very beginning.
  • 1:05 - 1:06
    My parents were in difficulty,
  • 1:07 - 1:09
    my family was in difficulty,
  • 1:10 - 1:13
but I told them absolutely clearly
  • 1:14 - 1:16
that I was not going to be married.
  • 1:17 - 1:18
They would have been perfectly happy
  • 1:19 - 1:23
if I had been going to be a celibate monk.
  • 1:23 - 1:24
    . I said, "No,
  • 1:25 - 1:28
I am not going to be a celibate monk either."
  • 1:29 - 1:30
    That was their trouble:
  • 1:32 - 1:33
if I was going to be a celibate monk
  • 1:34 - 1:35
    they would be happy.
  • 1:35 - 1:36
    In fact,
  • 1:37 - 1:39
    they would have felt proud
  • 1:40 - 1:42
that their son had become a great monk.
  • 1:44 - 1:45
    I said, "No,
  • 1:47 - 1:48
    both are ditches.
  • 1:49 - 1:51
I am going to walk just in the middle,
  • 1:52 - 1:54
    on the razor's edge."
  • 1:56 - 1:58
And I have enjoyed the walk
  • 2:00 - 2:01
    tremendously.
  • 2:01 - 2:06
So, what would you say now to all the people in the world who are married? Should they all get divorced?
  • 2:07 - 2:09
    Everybody should get divorced,
  • 2:11 - 2:13
    without exception.
  • 2:15 - 2:18
People should meet and love each other,
  • 2:22 - 2:23
    occasionally,
  • 2:24 - 2:26
    as opportunity comes.
  • 2:29 - 2:30
    There should be no
  • 2:31 - 2:32
    ugly
  • 2:33 - 2:33
    state
  • 2:34 - 2:38
when a wife has to make love to a man
  • 2:39 - 2:40
    whom she does not
  • 2:42 - 2:43
    love anymore,
  • 2:44 - 2:45
    but she has
  • 2:47 - 2:48
    to fulfill her duty.
  • 2:50 - 2:52
The husband is fulfilling his duty:
  • 2:54 - 2:59
while he is making love to the woman he may be thinking of some other woman,
  • 3:00 - 3:02
she may be thinking of some other man.
  • 3:03 - 3:06
What kind of neurotic society have you created?
  • 3:09 - 3:10
If you don't love each other
  • 3:11 - 3:12
    at least be
  • 3:14 - 3:15
    human
  • 3:16 - 3:17
    and say frankly
  • 3:19 - 3:23
that it was beautiful to be together, but now it is finished.
  • 3:26 - 3:26
    Say goodbye.
  • 3:30 - 3:31
    I would like
  • 3:32 - 3:35
marriage to disappear completely from the world,
  • 3:35 - 3:37
    and with marriage,
  • 3:38 - 3:40
    divorce will disappear.
  • 3:41 - 3:44
    With marriage, prostitution will disappear.
  • 3:46 - 3:47
    With marriage,
  • 3:48 - 3:54
most of the work of the priest will disappear.
  • 3:56 - 3:57
    With marriage,
  • 3:58 - 4:00
    almost ninety-nine percent
  • 4:03 - 4:06
of the work of psychoanalysts, therapists,
  • 4:07 - 4:10
    psychiatrists will disappear.
  • 4:12 - 4:17
It is marriage that is creating all kinds of psychological
  • 4:19 - 4:20
    perversions,
  • 4:21 - 4:21
    repressions,
  • 4:23 - 4:24
    guilt.
  • 4:28 - 4:29
    It is simply human:
  • 4:30 - 4:32
    you see a beautiful woman
  • 4:35 - 4:38
and you would like to have some time with her.
  • 4:41 - 4:45
It does not need any God's permission
  • 4:51 - 4:53
    even your God
  • 4:58 - 4:59
    committed
  • 5:00 - 5:00
    rape with
  • 5:02 - 5:02
    the Virgin Mary,
  • 5:05 - 5:07
    without her consent.
  • 5:08 - 5:09
    Do you believe that story?
  • 5:11 - 5:13
    I just believe that story
  • 5:13 - 5:16
    because it proves that your God is a rapist;
  • 5:22 - 5:24
otherwise, I don't believe in the story.
  • 5:26 - 5:28
    Jesus must be a bastard
  • 5:32 - 5:34
it is certain he was not the son of Joseph,
  • 5:39 - 5:41
and just to cover up the whole thing,
  • 5:42 - 5:44
that great story has been invented.
  • 5:45 - 5:46
He got God to do the job!
  • 5:48 - 5:50
    They say God
  • 5:51 - 5:53
    is a trinity:
  • 5:54 - 5:57
God, the Holy Ghost and the Son.
  • 6:01 - 6:02
    The Holy Ghost did it,
  • 6:06 - 6:08
but he is part of God.
  • 6:09 - 6:10
It is just like my hand
  • 6:11 - 6:12
    is part of me
  • 6:15 - 6:17
and your genitals are part of you
  • 6:19 - 6:22
the Holy Ghost is part of God, perhaps he is his genitals.
  • 6:26 - 6:32
Otherwise, how could he manage to make a virgin girl
  • 6:33 - 6:34
    pregnant?
  • 6:36 - 6:42
What about family responsibilities, the married partners' responsibility to their children?
  • 6:43 - 6:46
Children should be the responsibility of the commune,
  • 6:48 - 6:49
    not of the family.
  • 6:53 - 6:55
It is the family which creates
  • 6:57 - 6:58
    tremendous problems
  • 6:59 - 7:00
    in the children's minds.
  • 7:01 - 7:05
It gives them all their sickness,
  • 7:06 - 7:07
    all their
  • 7:08 - 7:09
    superstitions,
  • 7:10 - 7:11
    all their
  • 7:12 - 7:14
    stupid ideas,
  • 7:14 - 7:18
    theologies, religion, political parties.
  • 7:19 - 7:21
    It enforces on the child.
  • 7:24 - 7:29
The child has to be freed from the family. If you want a new man,
  • 7:32 - 7:35
then the family is an ugly institution,
  • 7:36 - 7:38
    its time is over.
  • 7:38 - 7:41
It should be replaced by the commune,
  • 7:46 - 7:50
and then it is very easy -- the commune takes care of all the children.
  • 7:52 - 7:58
There will be the father, the mother; they can meet the child, the child can come to them.
  • 8:00 - 8:01
    But basically
  • 8:02 - 8:06
it is the responsibility of the commune to take care of the children.
  • 8:07 - 8:12
The children will have many uncles and many aunts,
  • 8:13 - 8:21
and they will have more opportunity for human contact with different types of people.
  • 8:21 - 8:24
    They will be immensely enriched.
  • 8:26 - 8:27
    Our children are
  • 8:28 - 8:30
    very impoverished;
  • 8:31 - 8:34
they know only one man, one woman,
  • 8:34 - 8:37
and they know the constant quarrel between the two.
  • 8:38 - 8:40
    The woman is nagging the husband;
  • 8:41 - 8:43
the husband is beating the woman.
  • 8:46 - 8:48
And this is what you are training them for:
  • 8:49 - 8:51
    your boy will repeat you;
  • 8:52 - 8:56
he will knowingly or unknowingly be your carbon copy.
  • 8:57 - 8:59
Your daughter will repeat your wife,
  • 9:00 - 9:01
    knowingly or unknowingly.
  • 9:02 - 9:06
That's why no son can ever forgive his father,
  • 9:07 - 9:11
and no daughter can ever forgive her mother.
  • 9:12 - 9:13
    They destroyed
  • 9:14 - 9:15
    their lives.
  • 9:15 - 9:15
    It is
  • 9:16 - 9:17
    absolutely
  • 9:19 - 9:22
    a psychologically proved phenomenon.
  • 9:24 - 9:25
    But if
  • 9:26 - 9:27
    the commune takes care,
  • 9:30 - 9:35
then they will have experience of so many different kinds of people.
  • 9:37 - 9:39
    It is my experience
  • 9:39 - 9:42
that every person is so unique
  • 9:44 - 9:46
    that the more
  • 9:47 - 9:50
    contacts, intimacies,
  • 9:51 - 9:52
    love affairs
  • 9:53 - 9:54
    you have,
  • 9:55 - 9:57
    the richer you will be
