Understanding Radiology: What is a Radiologist?

  • 0:04 - 0:07
    We use our imaging tools,
  • 0:08 - 0:10
    our X-rays and our sonograms,
  • 0:10 - 0:12
our CAT scans and our MRIs
  • 0:12 - 0:14
    to help the team
  • 0:15 - 0:16
    understand
  • 0:17 - 0:19
    what the disease is,
  • 0:19 - 0:21
    where the disease is,
  • 0:22 - 0:25
and when it's responding to therapy,
  • 0:25 - 0:29
and we do that by making images of the human anatomy.
  • 0:30 - 0:35
So, as a radiologist my specialty really is human anatomy
  • 0:35 - 0:41
and the way that anatomy is affected by certain disease processes,
  • 0:41 - 0:44
and then my job is to communicate that
  • 0:45 - 0:47
to the doctor who's taking care of the patient.
  • 0:47 - 0:52
And so, it's a very exciting time to be in the world
  • 0:52 - 0:56
of medical imaging we have a lot of tools in the toolbox.
