[ASMR] Tracing Acupuncture Meridians + Leg and Foot Massage with Marika (Real Person)
-
1:08 - 1:10Smells so good
-
1:17 - 1:18Okay
-
2:55 - 2:58Welcome everyone to this video
-
3:01 - 3:07Today, we have Marika here
and she is fast asleep -
3:09 - 3:17She has been gracious enough
to allow me to use her legs today -
3:18 - 3:24in some acupressure
-
3:26 - 3:34Locating some acupuncture points,
as well as some massage -
3:42 - 3:47At school, we have been learning
traditional Chinese medicine -
3:48 - 3:53and how to apply all the knowledge
that we've learned about -
3:54 - 3:58different channels and acupuncture points
-
3:59 - 4:04in creating an individualized
treatment plan for a patient -
4:07 - 4:11How to assess the patient
-
4:12 - 4:16take a traditional Chinese medicine intake
-
4:17 - 4:21how to make a diagnosis
-
4:23 - 4:28evaluate various differential diagnoses
-
4:32 - 4:35which can get quite complicated
because often times -
4:35 - 4:39in traditional Chinese medicine,
it's not that cut and dry -
4:39 - 4:44You often have different
presentations happening at the same time -
4:50 - 4:54One that comes up a lot is liver
qi stagnation -
4:54 - 4:57overacting on the spleen
-
4:57 - 5:01It's very, very common here
in the Western world -
5:03 - 5:11because often times, we have suppressed
anger and other emotions like anxiety -
5:11 - 5:15that haven't been released and
worked through -
5:15 - 5:19So they end up building up
in our organs -
5:20 - 5:25The liver is the organ responsible
for anger -
5:25 - 5:33so it holds a lot of anger
and that anger really affects the liver -
5:34 - 5:39Whereas spleen, it's overthinking
and pensiveness and worry -
5:40 - 5:42That's what affects that, so...
-
5:43 - 5:48Many, many of us
have spleen qi deficiency -
5:50 - 5:53as well as liver qi stagnation
-
5:56 - 5:59I can talk about that more
as we go through the channels -
5:59 - 6:03both the spleen and liver channels
start on the legs -
6:03 - 6:07We also have the stomach channel,
the kidney channel -
6:07 - 6:09that starts on the legs as well
-
6:16 - 6:18or the feet rather
-
6:20 - 6:25We have the urinary bladder channel
and the gallbladder channel -
6:25 - 6:30that ends at the feet,
if I remember that correctly -
6:33 - 6:38Okay. So we're gonna start off
with a little massage. -
7:21 - 7:26Marika can just continue to drift
off into dreamland -
7:41 - 7:48I like to warm up the channels,
the meridians with some massage -
7:51 - 7:58before I really go into the acupressure
-
7:59 - 8:02I'm also going to be drawing
the points -
8:02 - 8:07tracing and drawing, which will
help as a memory aid for me -
8:07 - 8:13as I continue to familiarize
myself with the acupuncture points -
8:14 - 8:17I'm finding it very difficult to
memorize them all -
8:17 - 8:19and I feel like sometimes
-
8:23 - 8:26I study them just for the sake
of the exam -
8:26 - 8:32Then once the exam's done, the
memory has disappeared so... -
8:36 - 8:40I'm just going to work on some of this
-
8:49 - 8:53If you all haven't checked out Theodore
-
8:53 - 8:56my friend, Theodore Castasus
-
8:56 - 9:00Their channel, I highly recommend it
-
9:04 - 9:06I'll put a link in the
description below -
9:07 - 9:11Theodore always talks about the
importance of massaging the feet -
9:13 - 9:18You'll find that kidney,
the kidney channel -
9:18 - 9:21actually starts here right?
-
9:21 - 9:22Right in here, I believe
-
9:22 - 9:25Let me just double check
-
9:26 - 9:32My memory can be a little
distorted at times -
9:42 - 9:47Okay. So it's at the junction
of the distal one third and -
9:47 - 9:50proximal two third of the sole
-
9:52 - 9:55From the base of the second toe
to the heel -
9:56 - 9:59That's the line that we're following
-
10:09 - 10:13Theodore talks a lot about how
this point is -
10:13 - 10:19where we allow energy
from the earth to enter -
10:22 - 10:27I know. It can be a little bit
uncomfortable, this point. -
10:29 - 10:32It's also the point where energy
will flow out -
10:32 - 10:35so it is our connection to mother earth
-
10:39 - 10:41Really helps ground us
-
10:43 - 10:45Let's work on this one here
-
10:46 - 10:49Let me put a little bit of oil
here as well -
10:59 - 11:01Put right here
-
11:03 - 11:05Let me warm up your leg
-
11:15 - 11:19Get it nice and hydrated
-
11:19 - 11:29and also, allowing the smoothness of
the massage -
11:31 - 11:35It's nice and moisturized
-
11:42 - 11:45Just warm up your feet,
they're a little cold -
11:48 - 11:52It's a wonderful point to massage
on yourself -
11:52 - 11:56either in the morning,
at night, perhaps both -
12:01 - 12:02Alright
-
12:04 - 12:06Good, good, good, good, good
-
12:54 - 13:00I'm like just kind of squeezing the
feet. Might give a massage. -
13:15 - 13:20I'll do the same thing on this
side, just squeezing the feet -
13:45 - 13:49Strange because Marika is actually
asleep right now -
13:49 - 13:56but she's reacting to the massage
-
13:58 - 14:00I wonder if she's dreaming about it
-
14:05 - 14:08I'm just gonna massage the
achilles tendon right here -
14:08 - 14:11Oh, I know, I know, I know
-
14:14 - 14:20It seems like... it's just a little tender
-
14:39 - 14:40Very good
-
14:45 - 14:49Now I'm just going to do a bit
of massage here -
14:50 - 14:52the patellar region
-
14:53 - 14:57Just get a little bit
more of this massage oil -
15:01 - 15:04and just apply it right in here
-
15:08 - 15:11Warming up the area
-
15:13 - 15:19It can be common for the cold
to enter the knee -
15:19 - 15:23So, it's nice to give it
a little massage too -
15:25 - 15:30Although, if you really have
cold knees -
15:30 - 15:36it's a good idea to try moxibustion,
just kind of like... -
15:37 - 15:43you can find smokeless moxibustion sticks
and you can use it to really allow -
15:43 - 15:48the heat to penetrate deep into the knees
-
15:52 - 15:56Really help warm it up
from the inside -
16:01 - 16:05You can also receive acupuncture
in this area -
16:05 - 16:08and use a method called
-
16:12 - 16:14"burning the mountain"
-
16:16 - 16:18I think that's what it's called
-
16:18 - 16:22It'll really help to heat up
an area -
16:32 - 16:41Just a little bit of mobilization here.
Can help to loosen this up. -
16:41 - 16:46All the ligaments and tendons here
-
16:51 - 16:52A little bit
-
16:54 - 16:58Just to move it in different directions
-
17:09 - 17:10Good
-
17:19 - 17:21Okay, very good
-
17:35 - 17:36Alright
-
17:41 - 17:48So for the second part of the video,
I want to go ahead and locate some points -
17:48 - 17:54draw them, trace them as a memory device
and we can choose some of the points -
17:54 - 18:00to apply some seeds as well,
to help Marika with the next day -
18:00 - 18:01and also with her sleep
-
18:06 - 18:10So let's go ahead and start with kidney,
the kidney channel -
18:10 - 18:16since that's what we kind of already
started with in the massage -
18:17 - 18:22So I'm going to use this Burt's Bees liner
-
18:24 - 18:28just because it draws on really well
and it's easy to clean off as well -
18:28 - 18:32We're going to start with kidney 1,
which is at the junction, the distal -
18:32 - 18:35one third, approximate 2
thirds of the sole -
18:37 - 18:42When the foot is in plantar flexion,
find it in the depression -
18:43 - 18:44Right here
-
18:47 - 18:51So when you put in the plantar flexion,
it'll be in the depression -
18:54 - 18:57Okay, so that's kidney one
-
19:01 - 19:06Kidney 2 is anterior and inferior
to the medial malleolus -
19:07 - 19:11anterior and inferior to the
medial malleolus -
19:14 - 19:18in the depression on the lower
border of the navicular tuberosity -
19:21 - 19:23Navicular tuberosity
-
19:34 - 19:36I believe it's here
-
19:45 - 19:49This point is good for clearing
heat, empty heat -
19:49 - 19:55So, sort of yin deficiency heat
and it regulates the lower burner -
19:56 - 20:00It's also a spring point and a fire point
-
20:00 - 20:06Next, we're going to find the source
point, which looks like -
20:06 - 20:10it's right behind the medial malleolus
-
20:11 - 20:12Kidney three
-
20:17 - 20:24So far, the meridian seems to go like this
but I'll trace it all together later -
20:24 - 20:28so we can get a clearer picture of
how the meridian moves -
20:30 - 20:35And then after kidney 3, we have kidney 4
-
20:36 - 20:37which is interesting
-
20:37 - 20:39It actually moves
-
20:39 - 20:43After that, it goes back here
-
20:43 - 20:47Kidney 4 is posterior and inferior
to the medial malleolus -
20:47 - 20:51in the depression anterior to the
attachment of the calcanea tendon -
20:52 - 20:53Right here
-
20:56 - 21:00and right here
-
21:05 - 21:09Next, we have kidney 5
-
21:11 - 21:17which is 1 cun directly inferior
to kidney 3 -
21:17 - 21:21in the depression anterior and
superior to the calcaneal tuberosity -
21:22 - 21:26anterior and superior to the
calcaneal tuberosity -
21:26 - 21:291 cun directly inferior
-
21:30 - 21:351 cun directly inferior
-
21:37 - 21:41Roughly that
-
21:49 - 21:55Depression anterior and superior.
About one cun. -
21:55 - 21:59I'm just using my thumb to
kind of guide me a little bit -
21:59 - 22:01but it's not perfect
-
22:04 - 22:08Okay. Next, we have kidney 6
-
22:08 - 22:12which looks like it's actually right
-
22:14 - 22:19I think maybe my kidney three is a
little bit too close to the medial malleolus -
22:20 - 22:22Is that what I did wrong?
-
22:22 - 22:27Depression between the medial
malleolus and calcaneal tendon -
22:27 - 22:29Okay, so I made a mistake here
-
22:33 - 22:36Let me just redo those points
-
22:37 - 22:39That's part of the learning process
-
22:40 - 22:44Okay, sorry about the little mess here
-
22:46 - 22:52Okay, so kidney 3 is in the depression
between the malleolus -
22:52 - 22:54medial malleolus and the calcaneal tendon
-
22:54 - 22:55More like this
-
22:57 - 22:58More like that
-
23:01 - 23:02Like that
-
23:04 - 23:10And then, I'll go a bit lower for kidney 5
-
23:16 - 23:22Good. And then for kidney 6, we're going
to go in the depression -
23:22 - 23:25at the lower border of the
medial malleolus -
23:33 - 23:39Okay. So this point would be
contraindicated in pregnancy -
23:39 - 23:43because you don't want to
use it before the third trimester -
23:43 - 23:45to stimulate labor
-
23:47 - 23:48It's interesting, these kidney points
-
23:48 - 23:51A lot of these down here
-
23:51 - 23:56tend to have some role in regulating
the uterus and menstrual function -
23:56 - 24:01Kidney 5 also has a similar kind
of action -
24:01 - 24:04where it regulates the menses,
regulates the uterus -
24:04 - 24:07Now we're gonna go up to
kidney 7 -
24:07 - 24:12Kidney 7 is 2 cun directly proximal
to kidney 3 -
24:13 - 24:21So with 2 cun, we can use 3
fingers roughly -
24:21 - 24:24or we can be a little bit more precise
-
24:24 - 24:30We can find kind of a
tibial plateau here -
24:34 - 24:38From there to the medial malleolus,
it's 13 cun -
24:38 - 24:40Cun is just a...
-
24:40 - 24:44It's a measurement that is used
in traditional Chinese medicine -
24:45 - 24:47In Mandarin, it means inches
-
24:47 - 24:53but in this case, we actually use
the body as a measurement -
24:53 - 24:57Sort of like different parts of the
body have different -
24:57 - 24:58cun measurements
-
24:58 - 25:04You can also use your thumb and
your fingers but overall -
25:04 - 25:08you also want to look for
the specific landmarks -
25:08 - 25:12and the depressions that coincide with
each point -
25:13 - 25:16So from here to here, 13 cun
-
25:16 - 25:22If we go halfway about 6 and a
half, go a little bit lower -
25:22 - 25:236
-
25:23 - 25:25Then we just divide this into thirds
-
25:25 - 25:31So here, which as you can see,
roughly 3 fingers width -
25:32 - 25:35is kidney 7
-
25:37 - 25:43Kidney 7 right here.
And you're going to find that it is -
25:45 - 25:48on the anterior border
of the calcaneal tendon -
25:49 - 25:50There we go
-
25:50 - 25:54That's the calcaneal tendon,
basically the achilles tendon -
25:55 - 25:56Same thing
-
25:58 - 26:01I guess I don't have to mark
it on both sides -
26:01 - 26:03but I've just been doing that
-
26:04 - 26:08Alright. So now, we're going to
be working on this foot -
26:09 - 26:12and like here, while we keep the
other one -
26:12 - 26:15nice and toasty warm
-
26:15 - 26:20So, we ended off at kidney 7,
kidney 8 -
26:21 - 26:27Kidney 9 is 5 cun directly proximal
to kidney 3 -
26:27 - 26:31at the lower end of the belly,
of the gastrocnemius muscle -
26:31 - 26:35the line joining kidney 3,
kidney 10 -
26:35 - 26:37Kidney 10 is up here
-
26:38 - 26:41Line joining kidney 3 and kidney 10
-
26:41 - 26:44It is 5 cun directly proximal
-
26:46 - 26:47So...
-
26:49 - 26:55Again if it's 13
and it's 5 cun -
26:57 - 26:58Gonna do....
-
27:02 - 27:045 cun
-
27:07 - 27:086
-
27:09 - 27:16Or we can even go a bit lower
and do around 5, 5 cun -
27:17 - 27:23and it's gonna be on this
line, connecting from there -
27:23 - 27:26So roughly...
-
27:28 - 27:31Especially if this is 2 cun
-
27:32 - 27:37Right over there will be kidney 9.
Kidney 8 moves stagnation -
27:37 - 27:41dissipates masses, regulates
the menses -
27:42 - 27:46and kidney at 9 will nourish the
kidney yin -
27:47 - 27:52Clear the heart, resolve phlegm,
release pain in this area -
27:53 - 28:00If you move up to kidney 10,
then this point is with a knee flex -
28:00 - 28:03We're just gonna flex the knee
a little bit -
28:03 - 28:05Just a little bit like that
-
28:05 - 28:08The point is on the medial side
of the popliteal fossa -
28:08 - 28:13between the semitendinosus and
semimembranosus tendons -
28:13 - 28:15level with UB 40
-
28:19 - 28:23Okay, so right here
-
28:24 - 28:26It's kidney 10
-
28:30 - 28:33This point also is good for
resolving dampness -
28:33 - 28:34and it benefits the kidneys
-
28:35 - 28:37So it's interesting that this
resolves phlegm -
28:37 - 28:40that resolves dampness
-
28:40 - 28:43I wonder if it's specific in
this area as well -
28:43 - 28:48that would be interesting to
look into for future reference -
28:48 - 28:52Then a lot of these points regulate
the lower burner as well -
28:52 - 28:55So the kidney channel does continue
moving up -
28:55 - 29:00It goes up the lower abdomen
and then it looks like -
29:00 - 29:06it continues to go up towards the chest
and along the side of the chest -
29:07 - 29:09and it terminates
-
29:11 - 29:16Let's see here. And terminates
on the chest, is what it looks like -
29:20 - 29:25Yeah, but we're not gonna do
any of those points -
29:25 - 29:26not this time
-
29:26 - 29:28We'll do it next time
-
29:28 - 29:32I want to stick to these
-
29:32 - 29:34So I'm going to start with this
-
29:34 - 29:38We're gonna trace it all
the way to the first point -
29:38 - 29:40kidney 1 to kidney 2
-
29:41 - 29:43Then to kidney 3
-
29:43 - 29:45I believe is this one
-
29:49 - 29:57I'm gonna go to kidney 4,
then kidney 5, then kidney 6 -
29:58 - 30:03and then it's so interesting.
Kidney 7, 8 -
30:05 - 30:099, and then all the way up, 10
-
30:11 - 30:14That's the kidney channel
-
30:14 - 30:15It's kind of how it looks like
-
30:15 - 30:18It looks kind of like a constellation
-
30:19 - 30:20Alright
-
30:22 - 30:24Let's keep moving
-
30:32 - 30:34I hope you're finding this relaxing
-
30:34 - 30:38I'm gonna continue with
the liver channel -
30:38 - 30:43So liver is such an important organ
-
30:43 - 30:47Oh my goodness, it's a powerful
organ too -
30:47 - 30:51It is quick to attack other organs
-
30:51 - 30:53Like if there's a lot of fire
in liver -
30:53 - 30:55it can scorch the heart
-
30:56 - 31:00If the qi is stagnated, that will
attack the spleen -
31:01 - 31:06and yeah, it's a pretty, pretty
fierce organ -
31:06 - 31:12and it also stores the anger
component as well -
31:14 - 31:19The liver also tends to be the
one to move blood -
31:19 - 31:24So there's a lot of... when
there's indications -
31:26 - 31:31something like liver blood deficiency,
where there's not enough blood -
31:31 - 31:32to begin with
-
31:32 - 31:35and also not enough blood to
move around -
31:35 - 31:43there tends to be scanty menses,
amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea -
31:43 - 31:44that kind of thing
-
31:44 - 31:49So issues with a menstrual cycle
is very common in liver dysfunction -
31:49 - 31:53And then also issues with
irritability and anger -
31:54 - 31:58There can be with liver fire
-
31:58 - 32:02the fire can come up into the head
-
32:02 - 32:05It can cause vertex headaches
-
32:05 - 32:10It can also cause the eyes
to become red -
32:10 - 32:14and the face to take on a red
complexion -
32:15 - 32:20In liver qi stagnation, you can see
symptoms of PMS -
32:21 - 32:24So you'll find that there is
distension in the breasts -
32:24 - 32:28You'll find that there is of course,
irritability -
32:28 - 32:31because liver really does control that
-
32:31 - 32:36You'll find pain, cramping
pain as well -
32:36 - 32:40and that's because the qi is stagnating
and it's not moving -
32:40 - 32:44So it's really helpful to
work on this channel -
32:44 - 32:49as well as other points
that can help to regulate the liver -
32:49 - 32:54Alright. So now, we're moving on to the
liver channel. -
32:55 - 33:00Let's start with liver one, which is
a Jing-Well point -
33:01 - 33:07So this is on the lateral side
of the dorsal, of the big toe -
33:07 - 33:09between the lateral corner
of the nail bed -
33:09 - 33:13and the interphalangeal joint,
just right over here -
33:15 - 33:24And then, we're gonna move to
liver 2, which is over here -
33:24 - 33:27Just the web
-
33:27 - 33:33So, liver one is good for regulating
menses -
33:33 - 33:37resolving damp heat, clearing heat,
promoting this smooth flow -
33:37 - 33:44of liver qi, calms the mind
and stops bleeding -
33:44 - 33:49A lot of these points around
the nail bed are really good -
33:49 - 33:53for stopping the bleeding, whether
it's specific to the channel -
33:53 - 34:00Like in this case, moreso to do with
the menstrual blood -
34:00 - 34:05or it could also be used for other
parts of the body as well -
34:06 - 34:08That's a really important point
-
34:08 - 34:13Then liver 2, we can actually
clear liver fire -
34:14 - 34:15It can also subdue liver yang
-
34:15 - 34:21So as I was... when I was talking about
how when liver yang rises -
34:21 - 34:26it can end up causing headaches,
tremendous irritability -
34:26 - 34:28red eyes, red face
-
34:28 - 34:30It's kind of similar to liver fire
-
34:31 - 34:34We can help to subdue it,
bring it down -
34:35 - 34:37That can be really helpful
-
34:41 - 34:45It can also help to clear heat,
expel interior wind -
34:45 - 34:48remove stagnation, calm the mind
-
34:49 - 34:51It also stops bleeding
-
34:52 - 34:55Liver 3 is a very famous point
-
34:55 - 35:02You'll find it just between
the first and second metacarpals here -
35:02 - 35:06Sorry, meta... metatarsals
-
35:06 - 35:10Forgot that we're working
on the feet, metatarsals -
35:11 - 35:15It's just distal sole junction first
and second metatarsal bones -
35:15 - 35:17Such an important point
-
35:18 - 35:25The liver 3, if you can needle
liver three, as well as -
35:25 - 35:30LI4, large intestine 4, on
the hands here -
35:30 - 35:34You open up the 4 gates, which
will help to move qi -
35:34 - 35:37It's often used to reduce pain
-
35:38 - 35:40Another great thing it'll do is
-
35:40 - 35:42it'll help to subdue liver yang
-
35:42 - 35:44It can also clear liver fire
-
35:44 - 35:46It has so many functions
-
35:46 - 35:51It can smooth the flow of liver qi,
so really good for liver qi stagnation -
35:51 - 35:55It can resolve damp heat in
the lower burner -
35:55 - 35:58calm the mind, nourish blood
-
35:58 - 36:01There's so many, so many indications
for this point -
36:01 - 36:07and how it's going to act really
depends on what other points you choose -
36:07 - 36:09in the treatment
-
36:09 - 36:14and that'll help to guide this
point, as well as LI4 point -
36:14 - 36:19and what it should do while
it synergizes with the rest of the points -
36:19 - 36:21that are needled
-
36:24 - 36:28The next point is liver 4.
Zhong Tang, Zhong Feng. -
36:32 - 36:37That's a jing river point, one cun
anterior to the medial malleolus -
36:39 - 36:43and midway between spleen 5
and stomach 41 -
36:43 - 36:47depression on the medial side,
medial side of the tibial centre -
36:47 - 36:49So here's the tibialis anterior tendon
-
36:49 - 36:52I can feel it pretty
well right here -
36:52 - 36:56and it will be on the medial side
-
36:56 - 36:58Okay, very cool
-
36:59 - 37:01Alright, that's liver four
-
37:03 - 37:07Now we're gonna move into
some of the higher ones -
37:07 - 37:11Okay, so liver 5
-
37:11 - 37:16It's in proximal to
the tip of the medial malleolus -
37:16 - 37:18medial aspect of the tibia
-
37:19 - 37:22Near the medial border, 5 cun
-
37:24 - 37:27So it's kind of actually in line
with kidney nine -
37:27 - 37:30which I did not locate on this
-
37:31 - 37:33But it is 5 cun
-
37:33 - 37:37So let's just measure that really quickly
-
37:41 - 37:49Around here, and it's going
to be fairly close on the medial -
37:49 - 37:52It's literally on the medial aspect
of the tibia -
37:52 - 37:54near the medial border
-
37:54 - 37:56It's located... you can find it in...
-
37:56 - 37:59Oh, you can actually feel the
depression in the bone -
37:59 - 38:01That's really interesting
-
38:01 - 38:02Here we go
-
38:02 - 38:05Again, this one promotes
a smooth flow of liver qi -
38:05 - 38:09So there's quite a few points here
that will help to do that -
38:10 - 38:12I think we said liver...
-
38:12 - 38:14Liver 1, no
-
38:14 - 38:19Liver 2, liver 3,
and now liver 5 -
38:21 - 38:24Liver 6 seems to do something
similar as well -
38:24 - 38:26and that is 7 cun
-
38:26 - 38:30So it's gonna keep going
a little bit higher -
38:30 - 38:33and if we just do this again
-
38:33 - 38:346 and a half
-
38:34 - 38:37We're gonna go a little
bit higher here -
38:37 - 38:395, okay
-
38:43 - 38:44Did I do that one rule?
-
38:44 - 38:46Let me just check
-
38:51 - 38:536 and a half
-
38:55 - 38:59It should be that depression
that you can actually feel -
39:00 - 39:05Ah, never mind. I've been
palpating it wrong. -
39:05 - 39:09Sorry, so that is 5
-
39:09 - 39:18And then, this is 6
-
39:22 - 39:25Number 7 is all the way up here
-
39:25 - 39:27It's in the upper portion of the medial
-
39:27 - 39:30ahead of the gastrocnemius muscle
-
39:30 - 39:34One cun posterior to spleen
nine, posterior and distal -
39:34 - 39:36to the medial condyle
-
39:37 - 39:40So this is spleen 9
-
39:41 - 39:44We're going to go one cun
posterior to find liver 7 -
39:45 - 39:50So, we're going to go ahead
and connect all the liver points -
39:50 - 39:52on the lower leg
-
39:52 - 39:59So let's start with one right here
and we're gonna go up -
40:00 - 40:03and then we're gonna go
this way -
40:03 - 40:11Then we're going to go this way,
that way and all the way up -
40:12 - 40:16That's the liver and it'll keep
travelling up -
40:17 - 40:21travelling up the leg, the thigh
-
40:23 - 40:28lower abdomen, upper abdomen, chest
-
40:28 - 40:34Once it goes to the chest, the liver
channel will actually go internal -
40:34 - 40:37It'll go through the liver organ,
I believe -
40:37 - 40:43and then up the breast tissue
and then up the throat -
40:43 - 40:48and it can actually go... I believe it
goes all the way up -
40:48 - 40:50to the pituitary gland
-
40:51 - 40:53So it's... yeah
-
40:54 - 40:57By then, you can't really...
you know, needle any of those points -
40:57 - 41:03but you know that, you know where
the liver organ is exerting its functions -
41:04 - 41:09So now, let's work on the spleen
channel, which is... -
41:10 - 41:12I think it's my favourite channel
-
41:12 - 41:14because it is so versatile
-
41:15 - 41:19These points are used... I use them
all the time -
41:19 - 41:23and I think I'm actually
going to put a seed -
41:24 - 41:27for one of these points for Marika
-
41:27 - 41:32I might even put a seed
for the liver channel as well -
41:33 - 41:37I think that could be helpful, just
to circulate her liver qi a little bit -
41:38 - 41:42So let's go back to the liver
really quickly -
41:49 - 41:54I'm thinking I would like liver 3
-
41:54 - 41:57would be really nice to use
-
42:03 - 42:08This will help with calming her mind
-
42:08 - 42:16calming any irritability or anger
and also helping with -
42:17 - 42:20any stagnation of the liver qi
-
42:22 - 42:32That can lead to some pretty painful
cramps and other pains -
42:32 - 42:34around the body
-
42:38 - 42:45Sometimes it's not very sticky.
Place it on this foot as well. -
42:57 - 42:59Put that nicely there
-
42:59 - 43:01So we're gonna start with
spleen 1 -
43:01 - 43:05It is on the medial side
of the big toe -
43:09 - 43:14So liver 1 on this side
and liver 2, I mean -
43:15 - 43:18I am getting sleepy. So liver one
on this side -
43:18 - 43:22and then spleen one on the opposite side
-
43:23 - 43:25So this point again
-
43:25 - 43:28Good for stopping bleeding
-
43:28 - 43:33It can restore consciousness in
the TCM perspective -
43:34 - 43:38and it also helps to harmonize
the spleen -
43:38 - 43:43It will calm the mind, warm
the spleen, open the chest -
43:43 - 43:45and tone by yang
-
43:45 - 43:47Just a wonderful point
-
43:48 - 43:54Next, we have the spleen 2,
which is a spleen spring point -
43:54 - 43:58and a fire point, medial side
of the big toe -
43:59 - 44:04distal and inferior to the first
metatarsal phalangeal joint -
44:05 - 44:07the junction of the red
and white skin -
44:07 - 44:14just basically where the skin
changes in its texture -
44:14 - 44:16and appearance
-
44:17 - 44:22It's gonna be right there
-
44:24 - 44:28But it's interesting because
that's what that is -
44:28 - 44:30But then, on here, it's...
-
44:30 - 44:32I guess it'll be here
-
44:33 - 44:34That's spleen two
-
44:36 - 44:40Which harmonizes the spleen, clears heat,
resolves dampness -
44:41 - 44:43calms the mind, harmonize
the stomach -
44:43 - 44:45and tone by spleen yang
-
44:45 - 44:47Then we have the source point
-
44:47 - 44:50I find the 3 of the channel
tends to be the source point -
44:50 - 44:52not always
-
44:52 - 44:56and it is proximal inferior
to the head of the first metatarsal -
44:57 - 45:04So, proximal and inferior at the
junction of the red and white skin -
45:04 - 45:08So basically right here
-
45:08 - 45:10Can you see that?
-
45:11 - 45:13Right there
-
45:14 - 45:17Oh, spleen 3 is a good point
-
45:17 - 45:19and that's a good point for
tonifying the spleen -
45:19 - 45:22and it can resolve dampness and
harmonize the middle burner -
45:22 - 45:23regulate the intestine
-
45:23 - 45:27I think this would be a really
good point for Marika -
45:28 - 45:31I don't think we can go
wrong with this one -
45:34 - 45:38So let's go ahead and just make sure
-
45:39 - 45:41Place it right here
-
45:41 - 45:44I'm going to do the same thing
on the other side -
45:44 - 45:46because we want to make sure
it's balanced -
45:47 - 45:51So it's going to be right here
-
45:51 - 45:53Let's put a little seed on there
-
45:53 - 45:58Just basically, these seeds are basically
like needles -
45:58 - 46:02but more of a milder long-
term stimulation of the point -
46:19 - 46:21There we go
-
46:22 - 46:26After spleen 3, we're gonna move
to spleen 4 -
46:26 - 46:31depression, distal and inferior
to the base of the first metatarsal -
46:31 - 46:33base of the first metatarsal
-
46:33 - 46:35Good, okay
-
46:35 - 46:39Also this junction
-
46:40 - 46:41That was kidney 2
-
46:42 - 46:45Unless kidney 2 is more here
-
46:46 - 46:53Spleen 4 is more metatarsal.
Approximately here -
46:53 - 46:55to the head of the first metatarsal
-
46:58 - 46:59Okay, so right here
-
47:00 - 47:05Proximal and inferior
at the junction -
47:08 - 47:09I got it, right there
-
47:10 - 47:12That's where that is, spleen 4
-
47:13 - 47:21And then, spleen 5 is
and might that be a good point -
47:23 - 47:27Tonify spleen in stomach, stops
bleeding, regulates -
47:27 - 47:30That could be a really good
point, but I think spleen 3 -
47:30 - 47:32is enough for now
-
47:32 - 47:35I might also choose spleen 6
when we get there -
47:35 - 47:40Spleen 5, depression,
distal inferior to the medul... -
47:41 - 47:45medial malleolus, midway between
the tuberosity -
47:45 - 47:49the navicular bone
and the tip of the... ah, okay -
47:49 - 47:52So here, yeah
-
47:53 - 47:54Right there
-
47:54 - 47:57Spleen 5: tonify spleen and stomach
-
47:57 - 48:00regulates intestines, resolves dampness
-
48:00 - 48:01calms the mind
-
48:01 - 48:06Ouu, that might be a good point
for her, but I also feel like -
48:06 - 48:08I'll just go ahead and choose spleen 6
-
48:08 - 48:12because it also promotes a
smooth flow of liver qi -
48:12 - 48:14Yeah, I'll do that
-
48:14 - 48:22So that's spleen 5, spleen 6,
spleen 6 -
48:24 - 48:26Spleen 6, 3 cun
-
48:28 - 48:29Depression
-
48:31 - 48:34Just posterior to tibia
-
48:37 - 48:40Right, good
-
48:41 - 48:41Spleen 6
-
48:41 - 48:48That's a good point, I think for us
to go and put another seed on -
48:54 - 48:55Just make sure... I know
-
48:55 - 48:57Let's put a seed on that one
-
48:57 - 49:00Let's put a seed on this side as well
-
49:02 - 49:04See if I can just
-
49:06 - 49:08feel the depression
-
49:09 - 49:10Yeah, right there
-
49:17 - 49:21Just a little bit closer to the tibia
would be good, I think -
49:22 - 49:23Okay, good
-
49:23 - 49:25Okay, so let's keep moving up
the spleen channel -
49:25 - 49:29After spleen 6, we have spleen 7
-
49:29 - 49:32which tonifies the spleen, harmonizes
the stomach -
49:32 - 49:35It's 3 cun proximal to
spleen 6 -
49:35 - 49:38on the line joining the tip
of the medial malleolus -
49:39 - 49:41Spleen 9, which we know,
is right here -
49:42 - 49:45So it is 3 cun proximal
to spleen 6 -
49:45 - 49:49Okay, so let me see if I can...
-
49:49 - 49:54So here, basically doing this
measurement again and again -
49:54 - 50:02But essentially, it's here
and it is just on the line -
50:02 - 50:09connecting that spleen 7
and then spleen 8 -
50:09 - 50:11Keep going
-
50:11 - 50:16That's going to be 3 cun
distal to spleen 9 -
50:16 - 50:23So again, I'm gonna find...
sort of right here -
50:23 - 50:24on the line
-
50:24 - 50:27So that is spleen 8
-
50:27 - 50:30And then, we know where spleen
9 is, which is -
50:30 - 50:33such an important point
-
50:34 - 50:36Hope you guys can all see that
-
50:37 - 50:42Spleen 9 is the point that is
very, very important -
50:42 - 50:46for resolving dampness,
harmonizing the spleen -
50:46 - 50:50It can remove obstructions and
regulate water passages -
50:50 - 50:52So let's go ahead and trace
-
50:52 - 50:57So let's start from spleen 1
to spleen 2 -
50:58 - 51:02and then spleen 2 to spleen 3
-
51:03 - 51:07which we... then spleen 4
-
51:07 - 51:09Then spleen 5
-
51:10 - 51:15So we're gonna go from
spleen 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 -
51:17 - 51:186
-
51:21 - 51:227
-
51:24 - 51:258
-
51:25 - 51:30The last part is right up
here, up to nine -
51:32 - 51:33Alright
-
51:37 - 51:40So, that is the end of this video
-
51:40 - 51:42I hope you enjoyed it
-
51:43 - 51:46I'm gonna go ahead and
get Marika back on her bed -
51:46 - 51:50so she can really sleep nice
and peacefully -
51:50 - 51:53not set up on a massage table
-
51:53 - 51:55Thank you so much for watching
-
51:55 - 51:59I hope you were able to relax
and sleep to that -
51:59 - 52:01and I wish you a good night
-
52:03 - 52:05I love you all, bye
