7:52 - 7:56And everything's better in 3D,
so this is gonna be great. -
7:56 - 7:58Right off the bat, I wanna explain something.
-
7:58 - 8:01The run is gonna start really soon.
-
8:01 - 8:03Every input matters in this game.
-
8:03 - 8:05You cannot look away for a second.
-
8:05 - 8:08Even on the original version,
text mashing is pretty mundane. -
8:08 - 8:09It's not in this version.
-
8:09 - 8:11Every single text box has a one frame window,
-
8:11 - 8:14where if you hit the B button and only the B button,
-
8:14 - 8:16it'll advance the text box really fast.
-
8:16 - 8:20So I have to mash pretty much at a really high speed
-
8:20 - 8:23throughout the entire run
every single time there's a bit of text. -
8:23 - 8:26So as soon as the Deku Tree starts talking,
-
8:26 - 8:28I gotta go ham on that.
-
8:28 - 8:29Warm ham, apparently.
-
8:29 - 8:30What does that mean?
-
8:30 - 8:32That's kind of gross.
-
8:34 - 8:37So yeah, this is kind of a nice return
-
8:37 - 8:39to what Ocarina of Time on the N64 is,
-
8:39 - 8:43but it's gonna be, you're gonna see some differences.
-
8:43 - 8:45Some big ones, some small ones.
-
8:45 - 8:47You'll see a lot similarities as well.
-
8:47 - 8:49All right, so here goes the text.
-
8:49 - 8:50Something really weird about text,
-
8:50 - 8:51anything on a white background
-
8:51 - 8:54or inside of a shop, you cannot get quick text on.
-
8:54 - 8:57I don't know why that is. It's really random.
-
8:57 - 9:01So you'll see, that big one right there was fast.
-
9:01 - 9:04Obviously, the bigger the text box,
the more important it is. -
9:04 - 9:06Those were all pretty bad.
-
9:06 - 9:09I promise I won't talk about text the whole run,
-
9:09 - 9:10but that wasn't that great. (laughs)
-
9:12 - 9:14so yeah, that's gonna be happening.
-
9:14 - 9:16Also, one thing I'd like to say,
-
9:17 - 9:19the months leading up to AGDQ,
-
9:19 - 9:22I have seen so many people in Twitch chats,
-
9:22 - 9:24I've read some articles of people going like,
-
9:24 - 9:26Ocarina of Time 3D?
-
9:26 - 9:28Wow, that really sucks.
-
9:28 - 9:30Why didn't they put the
original Ocarina of Time in? -
9:30 - 9:34Wow, I hear Ocarina of Time 3D
is like a horrible game. -
9:34 - 9:36Like, can you even speedrun that?
-
9:36 - 9:40And I'm here today to show those people
-
9:40 - 9:43that they've been very wrong.
-
9:43 - 9:45This is a hot speed game.
-
9:47 - 9:50- Speaking of text, isn't the Japanese version
-
9:50 - 9:52actually slower for this game?
-
9:52 - 9:53- All right, so here's the thing,
-
9:53 - 9:55because of how quick text works,
-
9:56 - 9:59languages don't really make
all that big of a difference. -
9:59 - 10:02We think that the Portuguese language
-
10:02 - 10:05is the fastest and up next would be Spanish.
-
10:05 - 10:09And we think Japanese is actually
one of the slower languages, -
10:09 - 10:10but there hasn't been a whole lot of testing,
-
10:10 - 10:12and there doesn't really need to be
-
10:12 - 10:15because the time saved or wasted from it
-
10:15 - 10:17is so insignificant.
-
10:17 - 10:19It's more about how good you are
-
10:19 - 10:22at mashing text and less
about how fast the actual text is. -
10:23 - 10:25All right, and with that, we are out.
-
10:25 - 10:26All right.
-
10:27 - 10:30And we're back into another cutscene,
so that's great. -
10:32 - 10:34Okay, so the first thing we wanna do
-
10:34 - 10:36in this run, is we wanna grab the Kokiri Sword
-
10:36 - 10:40and then we are gonna be off on our adventure.
-
10:40 - 10:44Normally, you'd have to beat the Deku Tree
-
10:44 - 10:46to get out of the first dungeon,
-
10:46 - 10:47er, to get out of the first area,
-
10:47 - 10:51but we're gonna make our own route here.
-
10:51 - 10:57Also, I turned off the gyroscopic controls
and the inverted y-axis -
10:57 - 11:00because I don't really like gyroscope.
-
11:00 - 11:01It's kind of all preference.
-
11:01 - 11:02It wastes like a second or two,
-
11:02 - 11:05but I think I get a lot more consistency with aiming
-
11:05 - 11:08if I'm just using analog controls.
-
11:09 - 11:11Shout outs to ZFG, who does box movement here,
-
11:11 - 11:13but rolling is way better.
-
11:15 - 11:17So, throughout the run, I'm gonna be doing
-
11:17 - 11:19a lot of walking backwards.
-
11:19 - 11:21If you've never seen Ocarina of Time,
-
11:21 - 11:25it probably looks weird, but it's pretty fast.
-
11:25 - 11:29There's a lot of situations
where it's not too hot, though, -
11:31 - 11:34because you get stuck doing something
-
11:34 - 11:36called box movement, where basically you're combining
-
11:36 - 11:41side hops and backwalking
and that's really only good -
11:41 - 11:43if you have to do it for long distances,
-
11:43 - 11:47but over a short distance
it's really not that good -
11:47 - 11:49'cause you spend more time setting up the angle
-
11:49 - 11:51for backwalking than you actually do...
-
11:51 - 11:54Okay, so this is the first glitch in the game.
-
11:55 - 11:57That angle's not gonna work.
-
11:59 - 12:00Okay.
-
12:02 - 12:03Nice, all right.
-
12:03 - 12:05Oh, I talked to him. Shoot.
-
12:06 - 12:08Okay. Woo!

12:13 - 12:15For some reason, all right,
-
12:15 - 12:17we need to address the elephant in the room.
-
12:17 - 12:20This game wasn't actually made by Nintendo.
-
12:20 - 12:22They licensed another company to develop it
-
12:22 - 12:24by the name of Grezzo.
-
12:24 - 12:26We're gonna be talking about Grezzo a lot
-
12:26 - 12:28because they made some very interesting choices
-
12:28 - 12:30when making this game.
-
12:31 - 12:34And more often they not,
they work in the speed runner's favor, -
12:34 - 12:36which is really nice,
-
12:36 - 12:38and that was one of them right there.
-
12:38 - 12:41For some reason, they thought
it was a really good idea for, -
12:41 - 12:44after Link swings his sword three times,
-
12:44 - 12:47if you put it away, he takes this massive step back.
-
12:47 - 12:48It's almost like he teleports.
-
12:48 - 12:52And it's so fast that you can clip through corners,
-
12:52 - 12:55actors, a bunch of stuff,
so that's basically what we did there. -
12:57 - 12:58It's so weird.
-
12:58 - 13:01I don't know how they thought that was a good idea
-
13:01 - 13:04to add in that animation,
but it works well for us. -
13:04 - 13:06You'll see it once or twice more in this run.
-
13:07 - 13:10It's only good for acute angles, though,
-
13:10 - 13:12so anything less than 90 degrees
-
13:12 - 13:15is pretty broken with the triple slash clip.
-
13:16 - 13:17All right.
-
13:19 - 13:21- It's funny though, because Grezzo would like
-
13:21 - 13:25quote, unquote, "patch out" things like ISG,
-
13:25 - 13:26but then everything that was possible
-
13:26 - 13:30in the original due to ISG is basically possible
-
13:30 - 13:32due to something else that they created.
-
13:32 - 13:34- Yeah, so they tried to patch stuff out
-
13:34 - 13:37and most of the time their patches,
-
13:37 - 13:39quote, unquote, "patches" actually made the game
-
13:39 - 13:41even more broken, which is kind of funny.
-
13:41 - 13:44There's a really good, I don't remember...
-
13:44 - 13:45It's not good, it's actually really bad.
-
13:45 - 13:47There's an article on Kotaku or something
-
13:47 - 13:49where they interviewed the makers of the game,
-
13:49 - 13:52and they said that they left
all of the glitches in on purpose, -
13:52 - 13:55which is not true at all.
-
13:56 - 13:58See, when Nintendo was marketing this game,
-
13:58 - 14:02they were talking about how it was not a remake,
-
14:02 - 14:04er, it was a remake, it wasn't a port.
-
14:04 - 14:06It was built from the ground up,
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. -
14:06 - 14:07It's not. None of that's true.
-
14:07 - 14:08It's a complete port.
-
14:08 - 14:09They copied and pasted code,
-
14:09 - 14:12they modified some small things,
-
14:12 - 14:14added some textures, etc., etc.
-
14:14 - 14:16And so basically they were just like,
-
14:16 - 14:18"Oh yeah, we left the glitches in"
-
14:18 - 14:20to cover their tracks, to be like,
-
14:20 - 14:23"We're so good at programming this game
-
14:23 - 14:25"that everything is exactly the same,
-
14:25 - 14:27"but we didn't copy/paste.
-
14:27 - 14:29"It's a completely new game."
-
14:34 - 14:36Okay, so right here,
-
14:36 - 14:39I have to wait for it to turn day again.
-
14:39 - 14:44The only time that what I'm doing
actually matters as far as time goes -
14:44 - 14:47is when I'm in a state where time isn't passing.
-
14:47 - 14:49So right here in the Hyrule Castle area,
-
14:49 - 14:52time is passing, so I can goof around.
-
14:53 - 14:55But in Market Town right here,
-
14:55 - 14:56time isn't passing so I wanna get out of there
-
14:56 - 14:57as fast as I can.
-
14:57 - 15:01Same goes for when I'm talking to MPCs
like this cool owl here. -
15:03 - 15:05He's a great guy. We'll see him a lot.
-
15:05 - 15:07He's actually not that great. He's really annoying.
-
15:07 - 15:09(audience laughs)
-
15:11 - 15:13The good thing about the owl, though,
-
15:13 - 15:14in this game is...
-
15:14 - 15:16It's kind of weird for speed runs,
-
15:16 - 15:18but on the original Ocarina of Time,
-
15:18 - 15:20if you just mash the A and B button,
-
15:20 - 15:23it would automatically select the first response.
-
15:23 - 15:25And if you select the first response,
-
15:25 - 15:27he just tells you the same thing over again,
-
15:27 - 15:30but on this game, they require you to hit the A button,
-
15:30 - 15:32and since we mash text with B,
-
15:32 - 15:34you have to physically switch the option,
-
15:34 - 15:37and so, you can't accidentally hit the wrong option,
-
15:37 - 15:38which is good.
-
15:39 - 15:41- 'Cause he asks, (in deep voice) "Are you sure
-
15:41 - 15:44"that don't not want to hear what I said again?"
-
15:44 - 15:46- Yeah, it like...
-
15:46 - 15:49I don't know, I don't know why they thought
-
15:49 - 15:51that was a good idea, but whatever.
-
15:51 - 15:53Okay, so these guards, as you can see,
-
15:53 - 15:57they're not very attentive.
-
15:57 - 15:59They're pretty bad at their job,
-
15:59 - 16:02except for when they're really good at their job.
-
16:02 - 16:04And hopefully, you won't see them.
-
16:04 - 16:06Hopefully they're slacking off today.
-
16:08 - 16:11But sometimes they're not, so we'll see how that goes.
-
16:11 - 16:13But these, once outside, they're really easy to avoid,
-
16:13 - 16:14especially at night.
-
16:14 - 16:18Their vision is kind of obscured at night.
-
16:18 - 16:19What? Come on.
-
16:21 - 16:22I'm a box.

16:22 - 16:24(audience laughs softly)
-
16:29 - 16:30Okay, so now,
-
16:30 - 16:33this is why I need to wait for day,
so that I can hatch this egg -
16:33 - 16:35and show it to Talon

16:35 - 16:37so that he can move out of the way.

16:37 - 16:40So, the reason I only set up one
of these boxes right here -
16:40 - 16:42is because you actually only need one of them
-
16:42 - 16:44to make it over to the loading zone.

16:44 - 16:47And you don't actually even need
to push it all the way to the edge. -
16:48 - 16:51So I'm gonna be pushing it right here.

16:51 - 16:55And with a jump slash should, yup. All right.

16:55 - 16:56That's actually a kind of precise jump slash,

16:56 - 16:58when you only push it that much.

of they hedges they go to, -
17:48 - 17:51but they can also stop in the middle of them.

17:51 - 17:54They all start in the same position,

17:54 - 17:57but when they stop, how long it takes them
-
17:57 - 17:59to move again and how many times
-
17:59 - 18:01they look back and forth is all completely random,
-
18:01 - 18:04so you can get some really weird patterns
-
18:04 - 18:06and some very unfortunate ones as well.

18:07 - 18:08That one was actually pretty weird,
-
18:08 - 18:10but it turned out to be good.

18:11 - 18:12All right so, a lot of text mashing.

19:24 - 19:28whenever the text box just flashes by in a second,

19:28 - 19:29that's a frame-perfect input,
-
19:29 - 19:32and I'm doing many, many, many of those

19:32 - 19:35over the course of, you know,
just this three-minute cutscene. -
19:35 - 19:37Those are all quick text, that one was slow.

19:37 - 19:39Those were both quick, yeah.
-
19:39 - 19:41So you get the picture.

19:41 - 19:43Good text mashing is really what separates
-
19:43 - 19:45the really good runners in this game
-
19:45 - 19:48from everyone else, so.
-
19:48 - 19:49But it's definitely hard.
-
19:49 - 19:51You'll have some days where you're just trying
-
19:51 - 19:52to get some runs out there
-
19:52 - 19:54and you just aren't mashing very well.
-
19:54 - 19:56It just kind of sucks.
-
19:56 - 19:59But it's kind of cool 'cause I've been running
-

talked about the route at all. -
20:39 - 20:42Basically, this game, we escape the forest

20:42 - 20:43and it gets a little slow for a little bit,

20:43 - 20:47but basically we wanna get bombs
as fast as we possibly can -
20:47 - 20:51'cause once we get bombs,
things get kind of crazy. -
20:51 - 20:53We can do a lot of sequence breaks.

20:54 - 20:56There's a lot of route options that open up.
-
20:56 - 20:57But until that point, we kind of just have to
-
20:57 - 20:59go along with the route of the game.
-
20:59 - 21:02But once we get bombs, things get insane.
-
21:02 - 21:06But since things don't get too crazy for the beginning,
-
21:06 - 21:11I worked really hard on implementing
some swag strats all over the place, -
21:12 - 21:14so hopefully I can get most of those.

21:18 - 21:20And we're backwalking again.
-
21:20 - 21:23As you can see, we do a lot
of backwalking in this game. -
21:24 - 21:28- Isn't it if it's more than like four rolls of distance,
-
21:28 - 21:30it's more worthwhile to backwalk
if it's a straight line? -
21:30 - 21:35- I think on N64, it is seven rolls,
-
21:35 - 21:38but this game, rolling is like faster in this game,
-
21:38 - 21:39so I think it's more.

21:39 - 21:42Rolling is pretty worth it in most spots.

21:42 - 21:44Okay, this is the hardest trick in the game.

21:44 - 21:46It's the carpenter side hop.
-
21:48 - 21:49I think this angle's good.

21:49 - 21:51There's a carpenter dude,

21:51 - 21:52and they run really weird in this game,

21:52 - 21:53and he's on the stairs.

21:53 - 21:56If we side hop in front of him, it's really fast.

21:56 - 21:57Oh, I was too early.

21:58 - 22:00Because if you roll next to these guys,

22:00 - 22:03you talk to them, and so you get stuck behind them.

22:21 - 22:25even with subpar text, knock it out in like 20.

22:25 - 22:28Okay, so a lot of backwalking in this run,

22:28 - 22:30but here's an opportunity to show off

22:30 - 22:33some fast movement that's not backwalking.

22:33 - 22:34I'm gonna be doing a trick here.

22:34 - 22:36I'm gonna let the Tektite beat me up,
-
22:36 - 22:38and I'm gonna go really fast.

22:39 - 22:41Let's see if I get this.

22:44 - 22:45Oh.

22:45 - 22:47Ah, that's a little scary.

22:50 - 22:53I totally messed that up
and I somehow saved it. -

22:57 - 23:00or a forward-extended super slide.

23:00 - 23:05Basically, if you're holding this really precise position
-
23:05 - 23:08on the control stick, basically you just nudge it.

23:08 - 23:10You just lightly, you give it a little love nudge
-
23:11 - 23:13out of the neutral position,
-
23:13 - 23:16and then you get damaged, or you know,
-
23:16 - 23:19get boost somehow, you can maintain the speed
-
23:19 - 23:20that you had by targeting,
-
23:20 - 23:22and so you can go really fast with it.
-
23:25 - 23:28We're gonna implement that a lot more later on
-
23:28 - 23:31in slightly faster fashion,
-
23:31 - 23:34but for now, since we don't really have any explosives
-
23:34 - 23:36to damage us, that Tektite does just fine.
-
23:40 - 23:41Okay.
-
23:41 - 23:44So, the only reason, we're just gonna pop in
-
23:44 - 23:46to say hi to my boy, Darunia.
-
23:46 - 23:48He has the best item in the game,
-
23:50 - 23:51but we're not getting that right now.

23:52 - 23:56We just want the gift of fire right now,

23:56 - 23:58because we're gonna use this to open up a path
-
23:58 - 24:00to the lost woods.

24:00 - 24:02Now, something weird about Deku Sticks in this game,
-
24:02 - 24:04it's kind of unintuitive,
-
24:04 - 24:09but lighting torches or sticking the Deku Stick
-
24:09 - 24:12back into a flame actually resets the timer
-
24:12 - 24:14because a Deku Stick will eventually,
-
24:14 - 24:16if it's lit on fire,
-
24:18 - 24:21it'll burn the stick down, and then you'll lose it,
-
24:21 - 24:23and we don't wanna lose the Deku Stick
-
24:23 - 24:25because we need it for a few more things,
-
24:25 - 24:27but lighting a torch or sticking it in a flame
-
24:27 - 24:29actually resets the timer,
-
24:29 - 24:33so apparently setting a stick more on fire
-
24:33 - 24:34makes it not as on fire.
-
24:34 - 24:35I don't know.
-
24:37 - 24:40Okay, so something else I haven't mentioned
-
24:40 - 24:43is I've been carefully watching my health
-
24:43 - 24:46throughout the early portions of this game.
-
24:46 - 24:49I took a heart of damage on the bridge
-
24:49 - 24:51to get the rupees outside market.
-
24:51 - 24:53I took 1/2 heart of damage
on the Tektite to do the slide, -
24:53 - 24:56and I fell down to take 1/2 heart of damage
-
24:56 - 24:58in Goron City, and that's important
-
24:58 - 25:04because these guys here are dangerous.
-
25:04 - 25:06They want me dead.
-
25:06 - 25:10So I need to be very careful
that they do not kill me. -
25:13 - 25:14Ah, he hit me, okay.
-
25:14 - 25:15A little scary.
-
25:15 - 25:17That's a little less health than I'd like.
-
25:20 - 25:24Something else I forgot to mention is side hopping.
-
25:24 - 25:26You'll see me side hopping up slopes a lot
-
25:26 - 25:28and that's because side hopping is actually,
-
25:28 - 25:30without any outside forces,
-
25:30 - 25:31the fastest form of movement,
-
25:31 - 25:33but you'd have to do it frame perfectly
-
25:33 - 25:36except for when you're going up or down a slope
-
25:36 - 25:38because your side hop gets reset faster,
-
25:38 - 25:41or you can carry the speed of the side hop for longer.
-
25:42 - 25:44So, this is another good time
for donations if you have 'em. -

every single hit I take there -
26:59 - 27:02and those Deku Srubs in the Sacred Forest Meadow

27:02 - 27:04are kind of random, but I actually wanna get to Saria

27:04 - 27:06with half a heart, so when I come back down,
-
27:06 - 27:07they kill me, and they send me back.
-
27:07 - 27:10So all of that damage I took was planned
-
27:10 - 27:12so I could die at that exact moment.
-
27:13 - 27:16It's actually not that difficult to do,
-
27:16 - 27:21but those Scrubs in Sacred Forest
can really beat you up if they want to. -
27:21 - 27:23But they're usually pretty nice to me.

27:33 - 27:36Okay, so now we're getting the best item in the game.

27:46 - 27:48the bottleneck in this game.

27:49 - 27:50In Ocarina of Time on N64,
-
27:50 - 27:54you can get Bombchus from pretty much anywhere.

27:54 - 27:56You can get 'em from Bottom of the Well,
you can get 'em from Ganon's Tower, -
27:56 - 28:01you can get 'em from Gerudo Fortress
if you wanted to, -
28:01 - 28:02you can get 'em from all over the place.

28:02 - 28:07In Ocarina of Time 3D, somehow Grezzo managed
-
28:07 - 28:09to make this game incredibly broken in so many ways,
-
28:09 - 28:12and yet, every single place that you can get Bombchus
-
28:12 - 28:15is a citadel, they're all impenetrable.
-
28:15 - 28:17The biggest one that we've been working on
-
28:17 - 28:19for years now is Bottom of the Well
-
28:19 - 28:23where there's a Bombchu chest under a bombable surface.
-
28:23 - 28:25And there's like four or three ways
-
28:25 - 28:28to get it on N64, there's nothing on this game.
-
28:28 - 28:31It's, wow, I got every single text box there.
-
28:31 - 28:33Wow, that was so fast.
-
28:33 - 28:34(audience laughs)

28:34 - 28:37It's impossible.

28:37 - 28:39Like, we're never finding early explosives.
-
28:39 - 28:41We've been working on it for so long,
-
28:41 - 28:42and we have like,
-
28:44 - 28:49ah, it's like the McDonald's Monopoly scratch-offs.

28:49 - 28:51You always just are missing one, right?
-
28:52 - 28:53Well, that's what this is.

28:53 - 28:57We're just missing one step
in like 10 different areas. -
28:57 - 28:58We're just like, "Oh, if we could just do

29:10 - 29:12and going like, "Oh yeah, we found a new way

29:12 - 29:15"to do early explosives," and then try it on 3DS

29:15 - 29:18and it doesn't work, and I'm just, I'm devastated.

29:21 - 29:23we're entering our first dungeon.

29:23 - 29:26Since this is all dungeons, that's kind of important
-
29:26 - 29:28that we enter some dungeons, I guess.

29:30 - 29:33Okay, so I'm gonna be doing a cutscene skip here.

29:33 - 29:35Basically, when you blow up this wall,
-
29:36 - 29:37there's a cutscene that plays.
-
29:37 - 29:40It's like, "Hey look, Dodongo's Cavern."
-
29:40 - 29:41Ooh, I got the fast one.
-
29:41 - 29:45If you land right on the edge of a loading zone,
-
29:45 - 29:48when you exit the other side,
you actually have less speed. -
29:48 - 29:52So it's faster because you only have to do one roll
-
29:52 - 29:55to get back into the dungeon instead of two.
-
29:56 - 29:57The reason the cutscene skip is good
-
29:57 - 30:01is it actually resets this platform cycle right here.
-
30:01 - 30:03So the cutscene doesn't take that long,
-
30:03 - 30:06but you'd have to normally wait
for those platforms a little bit longer. -

30:40 - 30:43It actually will hold a switch down
-
30:44 - 30:48and the door will stay open for a little bit.

30:48 - 30:49But it only works...

30:49 - 30:52On N64 it works with every switch
in the game that's blue, -
30:52 - 30:55but in this game it only works with the blue switches
-
30:55 - 30:57in Jabu-Jabu's belly.
-
30:57 - 30:58I don't know.

30:59 - 31:02Okay, Lizalfos.

31:02 - 31:05These guys have a lot of strategy involved in them.
-
31:05 - 31:08Basically, in order for this fight to go really fast,
-
31:08 - 31:11I want them to never jump over my head.
-
31:11 - 31:15And you haven't seen it yet,
but normally what you do is you hit them -
31:15 - 31:16and they jump over you.
-
31:17 - 31:20But if you stand right on the edge of these platforms,
-
31:21 - 31:23they don't jump because if they were to jump
-
31:23 - 31:26it would put them in the lava or on top of you.
-
31:26 - 31:29And so, they're programmed not to be able to do that.
-
31:37 - 31:40Okay, so that's the first half of the dungeon done.
-
31:40 - 31:43We'd actually have a way to skip all of those rooms
-
31:43 - 31:47if we had a bottle, but bottles pretty...
-
31:48 - 31:50It's comparable, but it's a little bit slower
-
31:50 - 31:53in this route to get it, unlike N64.
-
31:53 - 31:56Bottles are still pretty broken,
but for different reasons, -
31:56 - 31:59and unfortunately, they're not
too useful for this run, -
31:59 - 32:01so we don't have to collect Cuccos,
-
32:01 - 32:02which is kind of nice.

32:02 - 32:04Here's another swag strat I like to do.

of newer runners really don't like. -
33:54 - 33:55It's not that bad.

33:55 - 33:59I have a lot of tricks for it
to make it a lot more consistent -
33:59 - 34:01than you would additionally make it out to be.

34:01 - 34:03- Also, in this room they actually improved
-
34:03 - 34:05that ledge where you throw the bomb on.
-
34:05 - 34:07A lot of people might remember
-
34:07 - 34:09from playing Ocarina of Time on the N64
-
34:09 - 34:12that the bomb just likes to bounce off the door,
-
34:12 - 34:17but they actually made the ledge
able to catch the bomb on this one -
34:17 - 34:19so it makes it a little bit easier.

34:19 - 34:20- So in that last room,
-
34:20 - 34:21you're normally supposed to have the slingshot,
-
34:21 - 34:23and you're supposed to shoot a switch on the wall.
-
34:23 - 34:25And oh, and this.
-
34:25 - 34:27You're supposed to shoot a switch on the...
-
34:27 - 34:28I am low on health.
-
34:29 - 34:31You're supposed to shoot a switch on the wall
-
34:31 - 34:33to make the fire go away,
-
34:33 - 34:35but you can actually grab the corners
-
34:35 - 34:37of the platforms and kind of jump around.

34:37 - 34:39That first one's pretty easy,
-
34:39 - 34:41but this next room after this one,
-
34:41 - 34:43there's two platforms you have to get around
-
34:43 - 34:46so it's a little more difficult.
-
34:47 - 34:48The jumps are pretty precise.
-
34:48 - 34:50They're not the worst things in the world,
-
34:50 - 34:55but it's definitely not hard to mess them up.
-
34:57 - 34:59Okay, this health would be fine

34:59 - 35:02as long as I don't mess up here a lot,
-
35:02 - 35:04which I hopefully won't.

35:04 - 35:06So we're gonna grab this corner

36:16 - 36:19You have to wait for the cutscene
for the first eye to be done -

36:21 - 36:24Okay, behind this wall, there is a Deku Shield.
-
36:24 - 36:25And we don't use it too much,
-
36:25 - 36:29but it's good for a few things,
so since it's so close, -
36:29 - 36:31it's definitely worth it to pick it up.

36:33 - 36:34And we're gonna equip it.
-
36:37 - 36:40In this next room, normally you have to go around
-
36:40 - 36:43another really big room,
and then there's a block over there. -
36:43 - 36:44You can see it up there.

36:44 - 36:46You would push it down...
-
36:46 - 36:47Oh, wow.
-
36:47 - 36:48That happened. Okay.
-
36:48 - 36:49That's a little slow.
-
36:49 - 36:53You would push it down off of the platform,
-
36:53 - 36:56and then push it onto the switch.
-
36:56 - 36:58But if you die on the switch,
-
36:58 - 37:00the game has to reload the dungeon again
-
37:00 - 37:02and send you back to the beginning,
-
37:02 - 37:04and it says, "Hmm, okay.
-
37:04 - 37:06"What are all the temporary flags that we set?"
-
37:06 - 37:09So basically, little things like, oh,
-
37:09 - 37:10you got the thing out of this pot,
-
37:10 - 37:14or oh, you blew up the stairs and put them down.
-
37:14 - 37:16And then it goes, okay,
-
37:16 - 37:18is the block pushed onto the switch?
-
37:18 - 37:19And then it goes, well,
there's something on the switch. -
37:19 - 37:21It's gotta be the block, right?
-
37:21 - 37:23Well, it's actually Link's dead body,
-
37:23 - 37:26which is kind of morbid, but it's the truth.
-
37:26 - 37:29So, the block, if you had looked,
-
37:29 - 37:30it was already pushed down,
-
37:30 - 37:34and so the boss doors open,
so we're just gonna come in. -
37:37 - 37:39King Dodongo is the final boss of the game,
-
37:39 - 37:41but he's also the first boss of the game.
-
37:42 - 37:45It just depends on what category
you're running, I guess. (chuckles) -
37:46 - 37:49In Any%, this is how the run would end
-
37:49 - 37:51with you beating King Dodongo
-
37:51 - 37:53and doing a glitch to get to the credits,
-
37:53 - 37:56but in all dungeons, we're just gonna
-
37:56 - 37:58beat this dungeon first to kind of get it over with.

37:59 - 38:01Normally, in most other categories,
-
38:01 - 38:04you would come back to Dodongo's Cavern
-
38:05 - 38:10because there's another item
that we're gonna get later on -
38:10 - 38:12that lets us do some pretty nifty things
-
38:12 - 38:13at the end of dungeons,
-
38:13 - 38:16but for the sake of this category
-
38:16 - 38:20and the route I am using,
it's not very good. -
38:21 - 38:23So we're just gonna beat the dungeon now,

38:23 - 38:26we're gonna watch the cutscene after the blue warp.

38:26 - 38:28Oh, by the way, this boss is also really hard.

38:29 - 38:31I don't know if I'm gonna make it.

38:55 - 38:58and this game is that you have the Deku Stick

38:58 - 39:02and they do four damage for a jump slash

46:17 - 46:20the back of the sword is actually hitting Jabu,

46:20 - 46:22and sends you flying backwards.

46:22 - 46:25It's really not what you'd think it'd be,
-
46:25 - 46:26but yeah.

46:28 - 46:30Okay, so normally you're supposed to use slingshot

46:30 - 46:33on that switch, but bombs work.

46:34 - 46:36Those bubbles are called Shaboms

46:36 - 46:37and they're really annoying.

46:38 - 46:41It's really scary because in 100% speedruns
-
46:41 - 46:43of this game now, there's a glitch later on
-
46:43 - 46:47that you do and basically,
-
46:47 - 46:53if you pick up a magic drop,
like an item drop from anything, -
46:53 - 46:55the run is just dead.

46:55 - 46:58And those Shaboms drop them a lot.
-
46:58 - 46:59So, you'll just be rolling,

46:59 - 47:01a Shabom will hit you, it will drop magic,
-
47:01 - 47:04it will fall right on top of you, you'll pick it up,
-
47:04 - 47:06and you lose 45 minutes of your life.

47:06 - 47:08It's kind of sad.

47:09 - 47:13Jabu is kind of not a great dungeon.

47:13 - 47:16You have to pick up Ruto
and just carry her around. -
47:16 - 47:18There's not really a whole lot you can do

50:44 - 50:46normally you have to climb up the vines

50:46 - 50:48and then hit the switch, but you can just snipe it

50:48 - 50:50with some cool side hop stuff.

58:26 - 58:28is that it doesn't matter what sword you have.

58:32 - 58:33which yes, that's possible,

58:34 - 58:37it doesn't do the damage of a Master Sword.

58:37 - 58:40Dead Hand actually checks
whether you're child or adult -
58:40 - 58:42to see how much damage you do to him.

58:42 - 58:45So we're gonna kill him, get our hover boots.

58:46 - 58:47Something I should also mention,

58:48 - 58:49if you notice right now, the bottom screen
-
58:49 - 58:52doesn't look quite like it should

58:52 - 58:54and that's because

58:54 - 58:56it still thinks we're on the title screen

58:56 - 58:58and normally that's how the bottom screen looks

58:58 - 58:59on the title screen.

59:00 - 59:04And so, I can't actually use any items right now

59:04 - 59:06except for the ones that are on my X and Y button.

the touch screen for anything. -

60:02 - 60:04In Ocarina of Time, on N64,

60:04 - 60:06there's a little crack on the side of it

60:06 - 60:08that's just enough if you have enough speed

60:08 - 60:09that you can go through it.

60:09 - 60:12In this game, they doubled the size of the door.

60:12 - 60:15It extends out of bounds like

60:15 - 60:17the actual size of the door that's visible

60:17 - 60:19so there's no way around it.

60:19 - 60:21It's really impenetrable,

60:21 - 60:24except if you Wrong Warp past it.

60:25 - 60:28So, that's what we just did there.

60:28 - 60:30And I should mention,

60:30 - 60:32the fact that that Door of Time Skip works,

60:33 - 60:34it's a miracle.

60:34 - 60:37It's so convenient because...

60:39 - 60:41So, you'll notice when I picked up the Master,

60:41 - 60:42you remember how I said every loading zone,

60:42 - 60:43it adds four?

60:43 - 60:44Well, when I picked Master Sword,
-
60:44 - 60:46it actually didn't do that.

60:46 - 60:47I canceled the Death Hole glitch
-
60:47 - 60:49because that little cutscene that played
-
60:49 - 60:51when you enter Temple of Time where it's like,
-
60:51 - 60:53"Hey look, the Temple of Time,"
-
60:53 - 60:55and it pans around, it's like, "Ooh, it's pretty."
-
60:55 - 60:57That cutscene actually cancels the glitch,
-
60:57 - 60:58so picking up the Master Sword
-
60:58 - 61:00took me exactly where it was supposed to take me
-
61:00 - 61:02and the game is completely back to normal.
-
61:02 - 61:06The fact that that cutscene
is there is sheer coincidence, -
61:06 - 61:08and this would not be possible without it.

61:08 - 61:09It's insane.

61:09 - 61:12That being said, because we need that cutscene

61:12 - 61:15to do it, Door of Time Skip is a one-way trip.

61:15 - 61:17You can't go back once you do it.

61:17 - 61:20I mean, there are ways,
but you have to jump through -
61:20 - 61:22some pretty lengthy hoops to make it happen.

61:24 - 61:28Also, because text mashing
is so fast in this game, -
61:28 - 61:29there's actually parts of this cutscene

61:29 - 61:31where we're kind of just standing around,

61:31 - 61:33awkwardly staring at each other like right here.

61:37 - 61:38It's like, uh, how's your day?

77:37 - 77:39but after I beat this dungeon,

77:39 - 77:42everything that I've already done is gonna fix itself,

77:42 - 77:45so I just have to make it through this, which hopefully...

77:45 - 77:47I'm a little unfamiliar with it

77:47 - 77:50'cause this is not exactly what I practice,

77:50 - 77:52but it should be fun. (chuckles)

77:54 - 77:57Plus, Fire Temple is actually a pretty cool dungeon.

78:49 - 78:51do that trick where, I called it a hookshot jump,

78:51 - 78:55where you go really high up with the hookshot.

78:55 - 78:57That actually utilizes the fact

78:57 - 78:59that when you put on the boots from the item,
-
78:59 - 79:00you do this cool little hoppy thing.

79:00 - 79:02I don't know, it's like this cute little animation.
-
79:04 - 79:07But the fact that the animation happens
-
79:07 - 79:09cancels the animation of the hookshot,
-
79:09 - 79:11and so it just sends you like really high.

79:11 - 79:12I don't know.
-
79:13 - 79:15That animation, most of the time, is kind of slow,
-
79:15 - 79:19so I will usually do things to skip it.
-
79:20 - 79:22And by that, if you put on the hover boots
-
79:22 - 79:24the same frame you do something else
-
79:24 - 79:26like rolling, opening doors,
-
79:26 - 79:28talking to an MPC, you skip the animation,
-
79:28 - 79:31so all over the place I'm using that
-
79:31 - 79:33and you probably don't even notice it.

79:33 - 79:34It's little optimizations like that
-
79:34 - 79:38that really separate some of the best runners
-
79:38 - 79:39from all the other ones.

79:41 - 79:43Okay, so I'm gonna grab some keys here

79:50 - 79:52Fire Temple is kind of tricky

79:52 - 79:55'cause there's a lot of things

79:55 - 79:56that want to hurt you,

79:57 - 79:59and at this point of the run,

79:59 - 80:00we obviously don't have too much health,
-
80:00 - 80:03so as far as health management goes,
-
80:03 - 80:05this dungeon's a little bit scary.

80:05 - 80:06It's not the worst thing ever,
-
80:06 - 80:09but you definitely have to be pretty careful
-
80:09 - 80:10especially in the later parts of the dungeon
-
80:10 - 80:13where things get a little crazier.
-
80:13 - 80:15But at the beginning, it's pretty normal
-
80:15 - 80:17as far as what was intended.

80:24 - 80:25Okay.

80:33 - 80:34There's actually a glitch
-
80:34 - 80:35that lets you skip one of these keys,
-
80:35 - 80:37but it requires Din's Fire,
-
80:37 - 80:38and I don't have Din's Fire,
-
80:38 - 80:41so I can just run through and grab the keys.

80:41 - 80:42They don't take that long.
-
80:42 - 80:45It saves about 30 seconds to do the skip,
-
80:46 - 80:48so it's not a huge deal.

80:48 - 80:50Obviously, not worth going to go get Din's Fire

80:50 - 80:52just to save like 30 seconds there.

81:33 - 81:35so that I can do frame perfect tricks.

86:31 - 86:33that sticks her head out like this.

86:41 - 86:43because she still has an active hurtbox

86:43 - 86:46that we can get her with.

86:46 - 86:47This is kind of scary.

86:48 - 86:51And so, what I'm doing is I'm skipping her

86:51 - 86:54flying around the room by hitting her with bombs.

88:20 - 88:22is just like really overpowered,

88:22 - 88:24so you can just go through walls
and stuff, I don't know. -

about that boss rush. -

called zombie walking, where... -

and you spawn out of bounds, -

98:44 - 98:49and you have to buffer a one-frame input,
it's almost impossible. -

by the grace of God. -

and so the cutscene tries to play, -

something else about the loading zone. -

as a Death Hole Wrong Warp, -

118:12 - 118:15Okay, I'm gonna kill this Guay,
'cause he can get in my way. -
118:18 - 118:21Okay, we're gonna move this grave,

118:21 - 118:23and there's actually a grotto right here.

118:28 - 118:30Once again, I'm gonna do Death Hole Wrong Warping,

118:30 - 118:33which, as I said before, it tries to load the grotto

118:33 - 118:35and the title screen at the exact same time,

118:35 - 118:39and that puts us in play on the title screen

118:39 - 118:40on the file that we're using.

118:40 - 118:43And so, we can use Farore's wind in here

118:44 - 118:46and...

118:46 - 118:48Well, we only have one dungeon left to beat so...

118:49 - 118:51It takes us to Shadow Temple.

118:51 - 118:53(audience laughs)

118:53 - 118:55And yeah, we're just gonna beat the dungeon.

118:57 - 119:00I said it before, but it's really important here.

119:00 - 119:02I can only use the items that I have

119:02 - 119:04on my X and Y buttons, and currently,

119:04 - 119:06those are bombs and Farore's Wind.

119:06 - 119:07And I can also use my sword,

119:07 - 119:09so we're gonna have to fight Bongo

119:09 - 119:12using just bombs, Farore's Wind, and my sword.

119:12 - 119:13And it's a little scary

119:13 - 119:14because I only have three hearts right now,

119:14 - 119:17and some of his attacks definitely
do more than three hearts, -
119:17 - 119:20so I have to be very careful right now.

119:29 - 119:30That is definitely his scariest attack.

119:30 - 119:32I don't like when he does that one.

120:59 - 121:01So I'm doing a frame-perfect glitch, got the frame.

121:04 - 121:05It's called Ocarina Items.

121:05 - 121:06Basically, if you use an item

121:06 - 121:09like Farore's Wind, Din's Fire,

121:09 - 121:11a bottled item, on a certain frame
-
121:11 - 121:13that a bomb explodes while in your hand,
-
121:13 - 121:14you can pull out the Ocarina.

121:14 - 121:16And I played Nocturne of Shadow
-
121:16 - 121:19and now I'm at the end of the game, so that's great.

121:19 - 121:20(audience laughs)

121:21 - 121:23So yeah, there's Zelda.

except for the beginning of the game. -

121:44 - 121:47I was talking when I did the Door of Time Skip

121:47 - 121:52on how the cutscene of the Temple of Time

121:52 - 121:54canceled Death Hole glitch.

121:54 - 121:57Well, that's the exact same thing
that happens with the Nocturne of Shadow. -
121:57 - 121:59When you play the song, it actually cancels

121:59 - 122:01the Death Hole Wrong Warp glitch,
-
122:01 - 122:03and so when we enter that loading zone,
-
122:03 - 122:05it takes us exactly where we're supposed to go,
-
122:05 - 122:09which like, it's like a miracle that it works out.

122:09 - 122:11It's so convenient, it's crazy.
-
122:11 - 122:15So, it's just so cool that it works.

122:17 - 122:18Yeah, other than that,
-
122:18 - 122:20that's pretty much been Ocarina of Time 3D.

122:23 - 122:25We have one more glitch to do, though.

122:26 - 122:29Basically, Ganon, he knocks the Master Sword

122:29 - 122:31out of Link's hand, but we can actually prevent that.

122:31 - 122:34On N64, it's done with a super slide,

122:34 - 122:36but there's another way to do it.

122:36 - 122:38We're gonna interrupt Link's animation
-
122:38 - 122:40of getting the sword knocked out of his hand
-
122:40 - 122:43by using Din's Fire as soon as we enter the cutscene
-
122:43 - 122:45of Ganon clearing the rubble.
-
122:46 - 122:48It's kind of precise, hopefully I get it.

122:48 - 122:50It's kind of funny when you do get it

122:50 - 122:51'cause Link kind of stand there like,

122:51 - 122:53"Dude, I don't care.

122:53 - 122:55"Wassup? Come at me, brah."

124:18 - 124:22So, he's a really easy boss.
