  • 0:00 - 0:02
    - Here's my $100.
  • 0:02 - 0:04
    75 for killing the animals,
  • 0:04 - 0:06
    and 25 for Milkman cutscene.
  • 0:06 - 0:09
    Seriously, his milk is delicious.
  • 0:09 - 0:11
Let's show cancer who's the boss!
  • 0:12 - 0:15
I think Tony Danzy is the boss.
  • 0:23 - 0:27
Anonymous donated $100 and said simply,
  • 0:27 - 0:29
"Eat all animals in all games."
  • 0:32 - 0:34
There are some animals in some of the games
  • 0:34 - 0:35
that don't look very delicious, Anonymous.
  • 0:35 - 0:37
    I don't think I would agree.
  • 0:43 - 0:46
    Cat's Tuxedo donated $200 saying,
  • 0:46 - 0:49
    "Putting this towards
    naming the fallen human Funky
  • 0:49 - 0:53
"for the sheer novelty/honor of holding the title,
  • 0:53 - 0:55
    "Funky, Savior of Monsters."
  • 1:00 - 1:03
    Ben C. donated $110 saying,
  • 1:03 - 1:04
    "Thanks for another AGDQ.
  • 1:04 - 1:06
    "I watch every year!"
  • 1:06 - 1:09
So do I, Ben C., so do I.
  • 1:18 - 1:20
    Dr. Arcfire donated $30 saying,
  • 1:20 - 1:23
"Just wanted to donate quickly to AGDQ.
  • 1:23 - 1:25
"Always good to see gaming have a positive effect.
  • 1:25 - 1:28
"Shout outs to the rest of the Scottish smash scene."
  • 1:28 - 1:30
    Aye, shout outs to them.
  • 1:42 - 1:45
AGDQ 2017 sponsors the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

on cancer prevention and early detection.

Founded in 1985, this catapulted cancer prevention
  • 1:58 - 2:00
to prominence and fulfills its mission
  • 2:00 - 2:02

  • 2:17 - 2:19
I just want to remind you really quickly,
  • 2:19 - 2:21
the window is closing very soon
  • 2:21 - 2:24
for nominating a name for the save game
  • 2:24 - 2:27
    for Ocarina of Time 3D.
  • 2:27 - 2:29
That's gonna close really in just a minute or two
  • 2:29 - 2:31
as that's the next game coming up right quick.
  • 2:31 - 2:36
Ocarina of Time 3D, played by benstephens56.
  • 2:42 - 2:45
    ("Yoshi's Island (World 6)" from Yoshi's Island)
  • 2:50 - 2:52
    Remielgaming donated $500.
  • 2:52 - 2:54
Did I already read that one?
  • 2:54 - 2:55
    I don't think so.
  • 2:55 - 2:57
    $500. GDQ's 2017 hype
  • 2:57 - 2:59
have been saving this money to donate
  • 2:59 - 3:00
for this event, so put half
  • 3:00 - 3:02
to killing all of the frames
  • 3:02 - 3:04
    and half to the Milkman
  • 3:04 - 3:06
because he must deliver the milk.
  • 3:09 - 3:12
People seem excited about delivering milk.
  • 3:14 - 3:18
Barney Stinson delivered $100 to us and said,
  • 3:18 - 3:20
"Here's a donation for great runners and a great cause.
  • 3:20 - 3:22
    "Suit up!"
  • 3:26 - 3:29
    Anonymous donated $100 and said,
  • 3:29 - 3:30
"Best of luck to all the runners
  • 3:30 - 3:32
"and shout outs to everyone helping behind the scenes.
  • 3:32 - 3:34
    "Also, nice pillow."
  • 3:34 - 3:36
I think he's referring to the ape pillow
  • 3:36 - 3:38
we were just seeing on screen a minute ago.
  • 4:04 - 4:07
    So actually, the donation incentive
  • 4:07 - 4:08
    for the filename is closed.
  • 4:10 - 4:12
    So donate for something else.
  • 4:14 - 4:15
    Speaking of donations,
  • 4:15 - 4:17
    Anonymous also donated $100 saying,
  • 4:17 - 4:18
"I've never donated on day one,
  • 4:18 - 4:20
"but I thought I'd go for it now."
  • 4:20 - 4:21
    "Good luck everyone!"
  • 4:21 - 4:24
    We appreciate it, Anonymous.
  • 4:24 - 4:27
    ("Bowser" from Yoshi's Island)
  • 4:37 - 4:41
    Kindle Jack donated $101.
  • 4:41 - 4:44
AGDQ is by far the greatest gaming event of the year,
  • 4:44 - 4:46
    showcasing the phenomenal skill
  • 4:46 - 4:48
and tremendous warmth of the gaming community.
  • 4:48 - 4:50
    Let's do this!
  • 4:50 - 4:53
    $2 to comfort the animals,
  • 4:53 - 4:55
and $99 to get wrecked by sands.
  • 4:55 - 4:57
I'm not sure that comfort the animals
  • 4:57 - 4:58
    is one of the options.
  • 4:58 - 5:01
Personally, I would interpret that as kill the animals,
  • 5:01 - 5:03
    but there you go.
  • 5:08 - 5:10
    Hammer Priest donated $100 saying,
  • 5:10 - 5:12
"Donating to see the amazing brokenness
  • 5:12 - 5:16
"that is Borderland 2's glitch exhibition."
  • 5:16 - 5:18
I'm looking forward to it myself.
  • 5:30 - 5:32
    Anonymous donated $20 saying,
  • 5:32 - 5:34
"First time watching live and since these donations
  • 5:34 - 5:35
    "are going towards saving lives,
  • 5:35 - 5:37
"let's save those animals in Super Metroid
  • 5:37 - 5:39
    "'cause their lives matter too."
  • 5:39 - 5:41
I'm not sure that's true, Anonymous,
  • 5:41 - 5:44
because they are just digital bits inside a computer,
  • 5:44 - 5:45
and they're making us lose friends.
  • 5:52 - 5:54
    Surreal Canine donated $50 saying,
  • 5:54 - 5:56
    "Third year of watching.
  • 5:56 - 5:57
"Love what you guys are doing."
  • 6:10 - 6:12
    Gentleman Ko donated $50 saying,
  • 6:12 - 6:14
"Hello everyone at AGDQ and everyone watching.
  • 6:14 - 6:16
    "My second time watching GDQ.
  • 6:16 - 6:19
"Loved it last year and I'm
    looking forward to this week.
  • 6:19 - 6:21
    "Help Lint get the Triforce."
  • 6:22 - 6:24
    I'll check my pockets.
  • 6:30 - 6:34
Flux Dog and Sydellia donated $100 saying,
  • 6:34 - 6:36
"We finally get to donate to this awesome display
  • 6:36 - 6:38
    "of skill and dedication.
  • 6:38 - 6:39
    "Huzzah, good players!
  • 6:39 - 6:41
    "Also, save the animals.
  • 6:41 - 6:44
"We need something for the barbecue afterwards."
  • 6:57 - 7:00
All right, we're ready to start the next game.
  • 7:00 - 7:02
Next up is Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
  • 7:02 - 7:04
    played by Ben Stephens.
  • 7:04 - 7:06
    (audience cheering)
  • 7:07 - 7:10
    Ben, your save game name...
  • 7:10 - 7:12
    The winner is warmham.
  • 7:12 - 7:14
    W-A-R-M H-A-M.
  • 7:19 - 7:21
    - Am I on mic right now?
  • 7:21 - 7:23
    - Oh yeah.
    - Excellent, okay cool.
  • 7:23 - 7:26
All right, so this is gonna be the Legend of Zelda.
  • 7:27 - 7:29
Am I counting myself down or?
  • 7:29 - 7:31
    - I can count you down if you like or you can do it.
  • 7:31 - 7:33
    - Count me down, please.
  • 7:33 - 7:34
    - Are you ready?
    - Yes, I'm ready.
  • 7:34 - 7:36
    - All right, audience with me in three.
  • 7:36 - 7:37
    Three.
  • 7:37 - 7:38
    Two.
  • 7:38 - 7:39
    One.
  • 7:39 - 7:40
    Go!
  • 7:40 - 7:42
    All right.
  • 7:42 - 7:44
    (audience clapping)
  • 7:45 - 7:47
    - So, in case you didn't already know
  • 7:47 - 7:49
and you somehow stumbled onto this part of the internet,
  • 7:49 - 7:52
this is Ocarina of Time in 3D.
  • 7:52 - 7:56
    And everything's better in 3D,
so this is gonna be great.
  • 7:56 - 7:58
Right off the bat, I wanna explain something.
  • 7:58 - 8:01
The run is gonna start really soon.
  • 8:01 - 8:03
Every input matters in this game.
  • 8:03 - 8:05
You cannot look away for a second.
  • 8:05 - 8:08
    Even on the original version,
    text mashing is pretty mundane.
  • 8:08 - 8:09
    It's not in this version.
  • 8:09 - 8:11
Every single text box has a one frame window,
  • 8:11 - 8:14
where if you hit the B button and only the B button,
  • 8:14 - 8:16
it'll advance the text box really fast.
  • 8:16 - 8:20
So I have to mash pretty much at a really high speed
  • 8:20 - 8:23
    throughout the entire run
every single time there's a bit of text.
  • 8:23 - 8:26
So as soon as the Deku Tree starts talking,
  • 8:26 - 8:28
I gotta go ham on that.
  • 8:28 - 8:29
    Warm ham, apparently.
  • 8:29 - 8:30
    What does that mean?
  • 8:30 - 8:32
    That's kind of gross.
  • 8:34 - 8:37
So yeah, this is kind of a nice return
  • 8:37 - 8:39
to what Ocarina of Time on the N64 is,
  • 8:39 - 8:43
but it's gonna be, you're gonna see some differences.
  • 8:43 - 8:45
Some big ones, some small ones.
  • 8:45 - 8:47
You'll see a lot similarities as well.
  • 8:47 - 8:49
All right, so here goes the text.
  • 8:49 - 8:50
    Something really weird about text,
  • 8:50 - 8:51
    anything on a white background
  • 8:51 - 8:54
or inside of a shop, you cannot get quick text on.
  • 8:54 - 8:57
I don't know why that is. It's really random.
  • 8:57 - 9:01
So you'll see, that big one right there was fast.
  • 9:01 - 9:04
Obviously, the bigger the text box,
    the more important it is.
  • 9:04 - 9:06
    Those were all pretty bad.
  • 9:06 - 9:09
I promise I won't talk about text the whole run,
  • 9:09 - 9:10
but that wasn't that great. (laughs)
  • 9:12 - 9:14
so yeah, that's gonna be happening.
  • 9:14 - 9:16
Also, one thing I'd like to say,
  • 9:17 - 9:19
the months leading up to AGDQ,
  • 9:19 - 9:22
I have seen so many people in Twitch chats,
  • 9:22 - 9:24
I've read some articles of people going like,
  • 9:24 - 9:26
    Ocarina of Time 3D?
  • 9:26 - 9:28
    Wow, that really sucks.
  • 9:28 - 9:30
    Why didn't they put the
    original Ocarina of Time in?
  • 9:30 - 9:34
Wow, I hear Ocarina of Time 3D
    is like a horrible game.
  • 9:34 - 9:36
Like, can you even speedrun that?
  • 9:36 - 9:40
And I'm here today to show those people
  • 9:40 - 9:43
    that they've been very wrong.
  • 9:43 - 9:45
This is a hot speed game.
  • 9:47 - 9:50
    - Speaking of text, isn't the Japanese version
  • 9:50 - 9:52
    actually slower for this game?
  • 9:52 - 9:53
    - All right, so here's the thing,
  • 9:53 - 9:55
because of how quick text works,
  • 9:56 - 9:59
    languages don't really make
all that big of a difference.
  • 9:59 - 10:02
We think that the Portuguese language
  • 10:02 - 10:05
is the fastest and up next would be Spanish.
  • 10:05 - 10:09
And we think Japanese is actually
    one of the slower languages,
  • 10:09 - 10:10
but there hasn't been a whole lot of testing,
  • 10:10 - 10:12
and there doesn't really need to be
  • 10:12 - 10:15
because the time saved or wasted from it
  • 10:15 - 10:17
    is so insignificant.
  • 10:17 - 10:19
It's more about how good you are
  • 10:19 - 10:22
    at mashing text and less
about how fast the actual text is.
  • 10:23 - 10:25
All right, and with that, we are out.
  • 10:25 - 10:26
    All right.
  • 10:27 - 10:30
And we're back into another cutscene,
    so that's great.
  • 10:32 - 10:34
Okay, so the first thing we wanna do
  • 10:34 - 10:36
in this run, is we wanna grab the Kokiri Sword
  • 10:36 - 10:40
and then we are gonna be off on our adventure.
  • 10:40 - 10:44
Normally, you'd have to beat the Deku Tree
  • 10:44 - 10:46
to get out of the first dungeon,
  • 10:46 - 10:47
er, to get out of the first area,
  • 10:47 - 10:51
but we're gonna make our own route here.
  • 10:51 - 10:57
Also, I turned off the gyroscopic controls
    and the inverted y-axis
  • 10:57 - 11:00
because I don't really like gyroscope.
  • 11:00 - 11:01
    It's kind of all preference.
  • 11:01 - 11:02
It wastes like a second or two,
  • 11:02 - 11:05
but I think I get a lot more consistency with aiming
  • 11:05 - 11:08
if I'm just using analog controls.
  • 11:09 - 11:11
Shout outs to ZFG, who does box movement here,
  • 11:11 - 11:13
    but rolling is way better.
  • 11:15 - 11:17
So, throughout the run, I'm gonna be doing
  • 11:17 - 11:19
    a lot of walking backwards.
  • 11:19 - 11:21
If you've never seen Ocarina of Time,
  • 11:21 - 11:25
it probably looks weird, but it's pretty fast.
  • 11:25 - 11:29
    There's a lot of situations
where it's not too hot, though,
  • 11:31 - 11:34
because you get stuck doing something
  • 11:34 - 11:36
called box movement, where basically you're combining
  • 11:36 - 11:41
    side hops and backwalking
    and that's really only good
  • 11:41 - 11:43
if you have to do it for long distances,
  • 11:43 - 11:47
    but over a short distance
    it's really not that good
  • 11:47 - 11:49
'cause you spend more time setting up the angle
  • 11:49 - 11:51
for backwalking than you actually do...
  • 11:51 - 11:54
Okay, so this is the first glitch in the game.
  • 11:55 - 11:57
    That angle's not gonna work.
  • 11:59 - 12:00
    Okay.
  • 12:02 - 12:03
    Nice, all right.
  • 12:03 - 12:05
Oh, I talked to him. Shoot.
  • 12:06 - 12:08
    Okay. Woo!
    (audience clapping)
  • 12:13 - 12:15
    For some reason, all right,
  • 12:15 - 12:17
we need to address the elephant in the room.
  • 12:17 - 12:20
This game wasn't actually made by Nintendo.
  • 12:20 - 12:22
They licensed another company to develop it
  • 12:22 - 12:24
    by the name of Grezzo.
  • 12:24 - 12:26
We're gonna be talking about Grezzo a lot
  • 12:26 - 12:28
because they made some very interesting choices
  • 12:28 - 12:30
    when making this game.
  • 12:31 - 12:34
    And more often they not,
they work in the speed runner's favor,
  • 12:34 - 12:36
    which is really nice,
  • 12:36 - 12:38
and that was one of them right there.
  • 12:38 - 12:41
    For some reason, they thought
it was a really good idea for,
  • 12:41 - 12:44
after Link swings his sword three times,
  • 12:44 - 12:47
if you put it away, he takes this massive step back.
  • 12:47 - 12:48
    It's almost like he teleports.
  • 12:48 - 12:52
And it's so fast that you can clip through corners,
  • 12:52 - 12:55
    actors, a bunch of stuff,
so that's basically what we did there.
  • 12:57 - 12:58
    It's so weird.
  • 12:58 - 13:01
I don't know how they thought that was a good idea
  • 13:01 - 13:04
    to add in that animation,
but it works well for us.
  • 13:04 - 13:06
You'll see it once or twice more in this run.
  • 13:07 - 13:10
It's only good for acute angles, though,
  • 13:10 - 13:12
so anything less than 90 degrees
  • 13:12 - 13:15
is pretty broken with the triple slash clip.
  • 13:16 - 13:17
    All right.
  • 13:19 - 13:21
    - It's funny though, because Grezzo would like
  • 13:21 - 13:25
quote, unquote, "patch out" things like ISG,
  • 13:25 - 13:26
but then everything that was possible
  • 13:26 - 13:30
in the original due to ISG is basically possible
  • 13:30 - 13:32
due to something else that they created.
  • 13:32 - 13:34
    - Yeah, so they tried to patch stuff out
  • 13:34 - 13:37
and most of the time their patches,
  • 13:37 - 13:39
quote, unquote, "patches" actually made the game
  • 13:39 - 13:41
even more broken, which is kind of funny.
  • 13:41 - 13:44
    There's a really good, I don't remember...
  • 13:44 - 13:45
It's not good, it's actually really bad.
  • 13:45 - 13:47
There's an article on Kotaku or something
  • 13:47 - 13:49
where they interviewed the makers of the game,
  • 13:49 - 13:52
and they said that they left
all of the glitches in on purpose,
  • 13:52 - 13:55
which is not true at all.
  • 13:56 - 13:58
See, when Nintendo was marketing this game,
  • 13:58 - 14:02
they were talking about how it was not a remake,
  • 14:02 - 14:04
er, it was a remake, it wasn't a port.
  • 14:04 - 14:06
It was built from the ground up,
    blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
  • 14:06 - 14:07
It's not. None of that's true.
  • 14:07 - 14:08
    It's a complete port.
  • 14:08 - 14:09
    They copied and pasted code,
  • 14:09 - 14:12
    they modified some small things,
  • 14:12 - 14:14
    added some textures, etc., etc.
  • 14:14 - 14:16
And so basically they were just like,
  • 14:16 - 14:18
"Oh yeah, we left the glitches in"
  • 14:18 - 14:20
to cover their tracks, to be like,
  • 14:20 - 14:23
"We're so good at programming this game
  • 14:23 - 14:25
"that everything is exactly the same,
  • 14:25 - 14:27
    "but we didn't copy/paste.
  • 14:27 - 14:29
    "It's a completely new game."
  • 14:34 - 14:36
    Okay, so right here,
  • 14:36 - 14:39
I have to wait for it to turn day again.
  • 14:39 - 14:44
The only time that what I'm doing
actually matters as far as time goes
  • 14:44 - 14:47
is when I'm in a state where time isn't passing.
  • 14:47 - 14:49
So right here in the Hyrule Castle area,
  • 14:49 - 14:52
time is passing, so I can goof around.
  • 14:53 - 14:55
But in Market Town right here,
  • 14:55 - 14:56
time isn't passing so I wanna get out of there
  • 14:56 - 14:57
    as fast as I can.
  • 14:57 - 15:01
Same goes for when I'm talking to MPCs
    like this cool owl here.
  • 15:03 - 15:05
    He's a great guy. We'll see him a lot.
  • 15:05 - 15:07
He's actually not that great. He's really annoying.
  • 15:07 - 15:09
    (audience laughs)
  • 15:11 - 15:13
The good thing about the owl, though,
  • 15:13 - 15:14
    in this game is...
  • 15:14 - 15:16
It's kind of weird for speed runs,
  • 15:16 - 15:18
but on the original Ocarina of Time,
  • 15:18 - 15:20
if you just mash the A and B button,
  • 15:20 - 15:23
it would automatically select the first response.
  • 15:23 - 15:25
And if you select the first response,
  • 15:25 - 15:27
he just tells you the same thing over again,
  • 15:27 - 15:30
but on this game, they require you to hit the A button,
  • 15:30 - 15:32
and since we mash text with B,
  • 15:32 - 15:34
you have to physically switch the option,
  • 15:34 - 15:37
and so, you can't accidentally hit the wrong option,
  • 15:37 - 15:38
    which is good.
  • 15:39 - 15:41
    - 'Cause he asks, (in deep voice) "Are you sure
  • 15:41 - 15:44
"that don't not want to hear what I said again?"
  • 15:44 - 15:46
    - Yeah, it like...
  • 15:46 - 15:49
    I don't know, I don't know why they thought
  • 15:49 - 15:51
that was a good idea, but whatever.
  • 15:51 - 15:53
Okay, so these guards, as you can see,
  • 15:53 - 15:57
    they're not very attentive.
  • 15:57 - 15:59
They're pretty bad at their job,
  • 15:59 - 16:02
except for when they're really good at their job.
  • 16:02 - 16:04
And hopefully, you won't see them.
  • 16:04 - 16:06
    Hopefully they're slacking off today.
  • 16:08 - 16:11
But sometimes they're not, so we'll see how that goes.
  • 16:11 - 16:13
But these, once outside, they're really easy to avoid,
  • 16:13 - 16:14
    especially at night.
  • 16:14 - 16:18
Their vision is kind of obscured at night.
  • 16:18 - 16:19
    What? Come on.
  • 16:21 - 16:22
    I'm a box.
  • 16:22 - 16:24
    (audience laughs softly)
  • 16:29 - 16:30
    Okay, so now,
  • 16:30 - 16:33
this is why I need to wait for day,
so that I can hatch this egg
  • 16:33 - 16:35
    and show it to Talon
  • 16:35 - 16:37
so that he can move out of the way.
  • 16:37 - 16:40
So, the reason I only set up one
    of these boxes right here
  • 16:40 - 16:42
is because you actually only need one of them
  • 16:42 - 16:44
to make it over to the loading zone.
  • 16:44 - 16:47
And you don't actually even need
to push it all the way to the edge.
  • 16:48 - 16:51
So I'm gonna be pushing it right here.
  • 16:51 - 16:55
And with a jump slash should, yup. All right.
  • 16:55 - 16:56
That's actually a kind of precise jump slash,
  • 16:56 - 16:58
when you only push it that much.
  • 16:58 - 17:00
    (audience clapping)
  • 17:02 - 17:04
All right, let's see how these guys go.
  • 17:06 - 17:07
All right, made it past the first guy.
  • 17:07 - 17:12
He will catch you and like for no reason.
  • 17:12 - 17:13
    It's really dumb.
  • 17:13 - 17:16
There's pretty much nothing you can do to avoid him.
  • 17:17 - 17:20
Okay, this guy, he's playing a dangerous game with me.
  • 17:20 - 17:22
All right, I'm going for it.
  • 17:22 - 17:23
    Be a man!
  • 17:23 - 17:24
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
  • 17:24 - 17:25
    Okay, okay, okay.
  • 17:27 - 17:29
All right, move, come on, come on.
  • 17:30 - 17:32
All right, all right, that's fine.
  • 17:32 - 17:32
    - Nice.
  • 17:32 - 17:34
    - That's fine. (laughs)
  • 17:34 - 17:36
    That was actually pretty fast.
  • 17:36 - 17:37
    That last guy.
  • 17:37 - 17:40
    Woo.
    (audience claps)
  • 17:42 - 17:45
So, the way those guards work is
  • 17:45 - 17:48
they have to stop at every corner
of they hedges they go to,
  • 17:48 - 17:51
but they can also stop in the middle of them.
  • 17:51 - 17:54
They all start in the same position,
  • 17:54 - 17:57
but when they stop, how long it takes them
  • 17:57 - 17:59
to move again and how many times
  • 17:59 - 18:01
they look back and forth is all completely random,
  • 18:01 - 18:04
so you can get some really weird patterns
  • 18:04 - 18:06
and some very unfortunate ones as well.
  • 18:07 - 18:08
That one was actually pretty weird,
  • 18:08 - 18:10
but it turned out to be good.
  • 18:11 - 18:12
All right so, a lot of text mashing.
  • 18:12 - 18:15
This is a great time for some
donation readings if you have 'em.
  • 18:17 - 18:19
    - Hey, listen Ben Stephens,
  • 18:20 - 18:22
we of dark plasma ball donated $100 saying,
  • 18:22 - 18:24
"Best of luck to Ben Stephens
  • 18:24 - 18:25
"and all of this year's speed runners,
  • 18:25 - 18:28
"and I look forward to watching
an amazing week of fun runs."
  • 18:30 - 18:33
By the way, the 3D effect doesn't seem to be working
  • 18:33 - 18:35
for me Ben, I don't understand this game.
    (Ben laughs)
  • 18:35 - 18:36
    - Here, I'll turn 'em on.
  • 18:37 - 18:37
    Isn't this fun?
  • 18:37 - 18:39
    - That's much better, oh yeah.
    - Wee.
  • 18:39 - 18:41
    - I was wondering if I needed
    special glasses or something.
  • 18:41 - 18:43
    (Ben laughs)
  • 18:44 - 18:45
    - People in the audience are lucky.
  • 18:45 - 18:48
I was gonna leave the gyro on
for the beginning of the run
  • 18:48 - 18:51
and just swivel my 3DS around when I was backwalking,
  • 18:51 - 18:52
    make you all motion sick,
  • 18:52 - 18:54
but I thought I'd be nice.
  • 18:58 - 19:00
    - Morendoor donated $100 saying,
  • 19:00 - 19:03
"Super hyped for another week of AGDQ.
  • 19:03 - 19:05
"Keep up the great work, looking forward
  • 19:05 - 19:08
"to the upcoming Legend of Zelda run."
  • 19:08 - 19:10
I hope you're enjoying it right now, Morendoor.
  • 19:13 - 19:16
    - So sometimes quick text doesn't actually really matter.
  • 19:16 - 19:17
Like here, even if I mash really fast,
  • 19:17 - 19:19
you still have to wait for the camera
  • 19:19 - 19:22
to pan in there, so no matter how fast you mash,
  • 19:22 - 19:23
you still have to kind of wait.
  • 19:23 - 19:24
But as you can see here,
  • 19:24 - 19:28
whenever the text box just flashes by in a second,
  • 19:28 - 19:29
    that's a frame-perfect input,
  • 19:29 - 19:32
and I'm doing many, many, many of those
  • 19:32 - 19:35
over the course of, you know,
    just this three-minute cutscene.
  • 19:35 - 19:37
Those are all quick text, that one was slow.
  • 19:37 - 19:39
    Those were both quick, yeah.
  • 19:39 - 19:41
    So you get the picture.
  • 19:41 - 19:43
Good text mashing is really what separates
  • 19:43 - 19:45
the really good runners in this game
  • 19:45 - 19:48
    from everyone else, so.
  • 19:48 - 19:49
    But it's definitely hard.
  • 19:49 - 19:51
You'll have some days where you're just trying
  • 19:51 - 19:52
to get some runs out there
  • 19:52 - 19:54
and you just aren't mashing very well.
  • 19:54 - 19:56
    It just kind of sucks.
  • 19:56 - 19:59
But it's kind of cool 'cause I've been running
  • 19:59 - 20:01
this game for like almost five years now,
  • 20:01 - 20:05
    and I'm still just mashing,
  • 20:05 - 20:08
but I'm subconsciously timing my mashes.
  • 20:08 - 20:11
I don't know, you get really good at it after a while.
  • 20:14 - 20:16
Zelda's Lullaby is really hard to play.
  • 20:17 - 20:19
    - It's the hardest game in the song, for sure.
  • 20:19 - 20:21
    - Every song is the hardest song in the game.
  • 20:22 - 20:23
    That's a good goal:
  • 20:23 - 20:26
don't mess up any songs in this run.
  • 20:27 - 20:28
    I don't think that's gonna happen.
  • 20:28 - 20:29
    - That's almost impossible.
  • 20:29 - 20:30
    - It's so hard.
  • 20:30 - 20:32
The songs are so difficult in this game.
  • 20:33 - 20:37
Okay, so basically I haven't really
talked about the route at all.
  • 20:39 - 20:42
Basically, this game, we escape the forest
  • 20:42 - 20:43
and it gets a little slow for a little bit,
  • 20:43 - 20:47
but basically we wanna get bombs
as fast as we possibly can
  • 20:47 - 20:51
    'cause once we get bombs,
    things get kind of crazy.
  • 20:51 - 20:53
We can do a lot of sequence breaks.
  • 20:54 - 20:56
There's a lot of route options that open up.
  • 20:56 - 20:57
But until that point, we kind of just have to
  • 20:57 - 20:59
go along with the route of the game.
  • 20:59 - 21:02
But once we get bombs, things get insane.
  • 21:02 - 21:06
But since things don't get too crazy for the beginning,
  • 21:06 - 21:11
I worked really hard on implementing
some swag strats all over the place,
  • 21:12 - 21:14
so hopefully I can get most of those.
  • 21:18 - 21:20
    And we're backwalking again.
  • 21:20 - 21:23
As you can see, we do a lot
    of backwalking in this game.
  • 21:24 - 21:28
    - Isn't it if it's more than like four rolls of distance,
  • 21:28 - 21:30
    it's more worthwhile to backwalk
    if it's a straight line?
  • 21:30 - 21:35
    - I think on N64, it is seven rolls,
  • 21:35 - 21:38
but this game, rolling is like faster in this game,
  • 21:38 - 21:39
    so I think it's more.
  • 21:39 - 21:42
Rolling is pretty worth it in most spots.
  • 21:42 - 21:44
Okay, this is the hardest trick in the game.
  • 21:44 - 21:46
    It's the carpenter side hop.
  • 21:48 - 21:49
    I think this angle's good.
  • 21:49 - 21:51
    There's a carpenter dude,
  • 21:51 - 21:52
and they run really weird in this game,
  • 21:52 - 21:53
    and he's on the stairs.
  • 21:53 - 21:56
If we side hop in front of him, it's really fast.
  • 21:56 - 21:57
    Oh, I was too early.
  • 21:58 - 22:00
Because if you roll next to these guys,
  • 22:00 - 22:03
you talk to them, and so you get stuck behind them.
  • 22:05 - 22:08
    - That carpenter kind of looked like SpikeVegeta.
  • 22:08 - 22:10
    - (laughs) Oh my goodness, it did.
  • 22:10 - 22:12
    This guard loves to talk.
  • 22:12 - 22:15
Text is so much faster in this game compared to N64.
  • 22:15 - 22:17
Like this cutscene of talking to this guy
  • 22:17 - 22:19
takes like 45 seconds or something,
  • 22:19 - 22:21
it's really slow, but here we can,
  • 22:21 - 22:25
even with subpar text, knock it out in like 20.
  • 22:25 - 22:28
Okay, so a lot of backwalking in this run,
  • 22:28 - 22:30
but here's an opportunity to show off
  • 22:30 - 22:33
some fast movement that's not backwalking.
  • 22:33 - 22:34
I'm gonna be doing a trick here.
  • 22:34 - 22:36
I'm gonna let the Tektite beat me up,
  • 22:36 - 22:38
and I'm gonna go really fast.
  • 22:39 - 22:41
Let's see if I get this.
  • 22:44 - 22:45
    Oh.
  • 22:45 - 22:47
    Ah, that's a little scary.
  • 22:48 - 22:50
Okay, all right, that was really...
  • 22:50 - 22:53
    I totally messed that up
    and I somehow saved it.
  • 22:53 - 22:54
    So that's good.
  • 22:55 - 22:57
Okay, so this is called a FESS,
  • 22:57 - 23:00
    or a forward-extended super slide.
  • 23:00 - 23:05
Basically, if you're holding this really precise position
  • 23:05 - 23:08
on the control stick, basically you just nudge it.
  • 23:08 - 23:10
You just lightly, you give it a little love nudge
  • 23:11 - 23:13
    out of the neutral position,
  • 23:13 - 23:16
and then you get damaged, or you know,
  • 23:16 - 23:19
get boost somehow, you can maintain the speed
  • 23:19 - 23:20
    that you had by targeting,
  • 23:20 - 23:22
and so you can go really fast with it.
  • 23:25 - 23:28
We're gonna implement that a lot more later on
  • 23:28 - 23:31
    in slightly faster fashion,
  • 23:31 - 23:34
but for now, since we don't really have any explosives
  • 23:34 - 23:36
to damage us, that Tektite does just fine.
  • 23:40 - 23:41
    Okay.
  • 23:41 - 23:44
So, the only reason, we're just gonna pop in
  • 23:44 - 23:46
to say hi to my boy, Darunia.
  • 23:46 - 23:48
He has the best item in the game,
  • 23:50 - 23:51
but we're not getting that right now.
  • 23:51 - 23:52
    We'll come back.
  • 23:52 - 23:56
We just want the gift of fire right now,
  • 23:56 - 23:58
because we're gonna use this to open up a path
  • 23:58 - 24:00
    to the lost woods.
  • 24:00 - 24:02
Now, something weird about Deku Sticks in this game,
  • 24:02 - 24:04
    it's kind of unintuitive,
  • 24:04 - 24:09
but lighting torches or sticking the Deku Stick
  • 24:09 - 24:12
back into a flame actually resets the timer
  • 24:12 - 24:14
because a Deku Stick will eventually,
  • 24:14 - 24:16
    if it's lit on fire,
  • 24:18 - 24:21
it'll burn the stick down, and then you'll lose it,
  • 24:21 - 24:23
and we don't wanna lose the Deku Stick
  • 24:23 - 24:25
because we need it for a few more things,
  • 24:25 - 24:27
but lighting a torch or sticking it in a flame
  • 24:27 - 24:29
    actually resets the timer,
  • 24:29 - 24:33
so apparently setting a stick more on fire
  • 24:33 - 24:34
makes it not as on fire.
  • 24:34 - 24:35
    I don't know.
  • 24:37 - 24:40
Okay, so something else I haven't mentioned
  • 24:40 - 24:43
is I've been carefully watching my health
  • 24:43 - 24:46
throughout the early portions of this game.
  • 24:46 - 24:49
I took a heart of damage on the bridge
  • 24:49 - 24:51
to get the rupees outside market.
  • 24:51 - 24:53
I took 1/2 heart of damage
on the Tektite to do the slide,
  • 24:53 - 24:56
and I fell down to take 1/2 heart of damage
  • 24:56 - 24:58
in Goron City, and that's important
  • 24:58 - 25:04
because these guys here are dangerous.
  • 25:04 - 25:06
    They want me dead.
  • 25:06 - 25:10
So I need to be very careful
that they do not kill me.
  • 25:13 - 25:14
    Ah, he hit me, okay.
  • 25:14 - 25:15
    A little scary.
  • 25:15 - 25:17
That's a little less health than I'd like.
  • 25:20 - 25:24
Something else I forgot to mention is side hopping.
  • 25:24 - 25:26
You'll see me side hopping up slopes a lot
  • 25:26 - 25:28
and that's because side hopping is actually,
  • 25:28 - 25:30
    without any outside forces,
  • 25:30 - 25:31
    the fastest form of movement,
  • 25:31 - 25:33
but you'd have to do it frame perfectly
  • 25:33 - 25:36
except for when you're going up or down a slope
  • 25:36 - 25:38
because your side hop gets reset faster,
  • 25:38 - 25:41
or you can carry the speed of the side hop for longer.
  • 25:42 - 25:44
So, this is another good time
for donations if you have 'em.
  • 25:46 - 25:49
    - Well, we have $15 from Oybo.
  • 25:49 - 25:51
    "Zelda's my favorite game.
  • 25:51 - 25:52
"Glad to see it's one of the first
  • 25:52 - 25:53
"and not actually during night time.
  • 25:53 - 25:55
    "Good luck to benstephens56."
  • 25:55 - 25:56
    - Thank you.
  • 25:58 - 26:00
Saria's song is the hardest song
in the game, by the way.
  • 26:04 - 26:06
    - I'm wondering how they got there ahead of you.
  • 26:08 - 26:09
    - Beats me.
  • 26:10 - 26:12
Okay, so since I'm at low health
  • 26:12 - 26:14
I have to move really fast here or I will die.
  • 26:18 - 26:19
    - (in deep voice) Will Ben make it through
  • 26:19 - 26:22
    this high intensity, low-health situation?
  • 26:22 - 26:24
    - I love that voice.
    - Stay tuned.
  • 26:24 - 26:25
    - I love it.
  • 26:27 - 26:30
So we only use this song once in the game.
  • 26:30 - 26:33
    We literally only need it
to get the best item in the game.
  • 26:39 - 26:42
    Ah, I died!
    - [Audience] Aw.
  • 26:42 - 26:44
    - (in deep voice) Our hero has fallen.
  • 26:44 - 26:47
    - So I kind of lied, actually, because...
  • 26:48 - 26:50
    Gee, look at that.
  • 26:50 - 26:51
    Wow, that was fast.
  • 26:54 - 26:57
So, the reason I was talking about managing health
  • 26:57 - 26:59
    is actually because I plan
every single hit I take there
  • 26:59 - 27:02
and those Deku Srubs in the Sacred Forest Meadow
  • 27:02 - 27:04
are kind of random, but I actually wanna get to Saria
  • 27:04 - 27:06
with half a heart, so when I come back down,
  • 27:06 - 27:07
they kill me, and they send me back.
  • 27:07 - 27:10
So all of that damage I took was planned
  • 27:10 - 27:12
so I could die at that exact moment.
  • 27:13 - 27:16
It's actually not that difficult to do,
  • 27:16 - 27:21
but those Scrubs in Sacred Forest
can really beat you up if they want to.
  • 27:21 - 27:23
But they're usually pretty nice to me.
  • 27:33 - 27:36
Okay, so now we're getting the best item in the game.
  • 27:36 - 27:38
Shout outs to my boy Aaron Toad
  • 27:38 - 27:42
for wearing the Goron bracelet. (chuckles)
  • 27:42 - 27:46
So, I guess this is a good time to talk about
  • 27:46 - 27:48
    the bottleneck in this game.
  • 27:49 - 27:50
In Ocarina of Time on N64,
  • 27:50 - 27:54
you can get Bombchus from pretty much anywhere.
  • 27:54 - 27:56
You can get 'em from Bottom of the Well,
you can get 'em from Ganon's Tower,
  • 27:56 - 28:01
you can get 'em from Gerudo Fortress
    if you wanted to,
  • 28:01 - 28:02
you can get 'em from all over the place.
  • 28:02 - 28:07
In Ocarina of Time 3D, somehow Grezzo managed
  • 28:07 - 28:09
to make this game incredibly broken in so many ways,
  • 28:09 - 28:12
and yet, every single place that you can get Bombchus
  • 28:12 - 28:15
is a citadel, they're all impenetrable.
  • 28:15 - 28:17
The biggest one that we've been working on
  • 28:17 - 28:19
for years now is Bottom of the Well
  • 28:19 - 28:23
where there's a Bombchu chest under a bombable surface.
  • 28:23 - 28:25
And there's like four or three ways
  • 28:25 - 28:28
to get it on N64, there's nothing on this game.
  • 28:28 - 28:31
It's, wow, I got every single text box there.
  • 28:31 - 28:33
    Wow, that was so fast.
  • 28:33 - 28:34
    (audience laughs)
  • 28:34 - 28:37
    It's impossible.
  • 28:37 - 28:39
Like, we're never finding early explosives.
  • 28:39 - 28:41
We've been working on it for so long,
  • 28:41 - 28:42
    and we have like,
  • 28:44 - 28:49
    ah, it's like the McDonald's Monopoly scratch-offs.
  • 28:49 - 28:51
You always just are missing one, right?
  • 28:52 - 28:53
    Well, that's what this is.
  • 28:53 - 28:57
    We're just missing one step
    in like 10 different areas.
  • 28:57 - 28:58
We're just like, "Oh, if we could just do
  • 28:58 - 28:59
    "this one little thing."
  • 28:59 - 29:01
Or, "Oh, if this one thing
  • 29:01 - 29:03
"just kind of worked slightly differently
  • 29:03 - 29:05
"we would have it," and it's just ridiculous.
  • 29:05 - 29:07
We've come up with so many times.
  • 29:07 - 29:10
I can't tell you how many nights I was up
  • 29:10 - 29:12
and going like, "Oh yeah, we found a new way
  • 29:12 - 29:15
"to do early explosives," and then try it on 3DS
  • 29:15 - 29:18
and it doesn't work, and I'm just, I'm devastated.
  • 29:19 - 29:21
All right, so coming up here,
  • 29:21 - 29:23
    we're entering our first dungeon.
  • 29:23 - 29:26
Since this is all dungeons, that's kind of important
  • 29:26 - 29:28
that we enter some dungeons, I guess.
  • 29:30 - 29:33
Okay, so I'm gonna be doing a cutscene skip here.
  • 29:33 - 29:35
Basically, when you blow up this wall,
  • 29:36 - 29:37
    there's a cutscene that plays.
  • 29:37 - 29:40
It's like, "Hey look, Dodongo's Cavern."
  • 29:40 - 29:41
Ooh, I got the fast one.
  • 29:41 - 29:45
If you land right on the edge of a loading zone,
  • 29:45 - 29:48
when you exit the other side,
    you actually have less speed.
  • 29:48 - 29:52
So it's faster because you only have to do one roll
  • 29:52 - 29:55
to get back into the dungeon instead of two.
  • 29:56 - 29:57
The reason the cutscene skip is good
  • 29:57 - 30:01
is it actually resets this platform cycle right here.
  • 30:01 - 30:03
So the cutscene doesn't take that long,
  • 30:03 - 30:06
but you'd have to normally wait
for those platforms a little bit longer.
  • 30:11 - 30:13
    Swag.
  • 30:15 - 30:17
Oh, a little more damage than I wanted.
  • 30:17 - 30:18
    Oh, shoot.
  • 30:19 - 30:21
    Get up there, ah!
    - [Audience] Ah.
  • 30:21 - 30:23
    - All right, all right, I'm a little low on health.
  • 30:23 - 30:25
I think I'll grab a safety heart in this next room.
  • 30:29 - 30:31
    All right, pushing the Armos.
  • 30:31 - 30:33
There's actually a trick that you can do,
I'm going to be doing later.
  • 30:33 - 30:36
If you use an item like a trade quest item
  • 30:36 - 30:38
on the top of a blue switch...
  • 30:38 - 30:39
    Ooh, that was nice.
  • 30:40 - 30:43
It actually will hold a switch down
  • 30:44 - 30:48
and the door will stay open for a little bit.
  • 30:48 - 30:49
    But it only works...
  • 30:49 - 30:52
On N64 it works with every switch
    in the game that's blue,
  • 30:52 - 30:55
but in this game it only works with the blue switches
  • 30:55 - 30:57
    in Jabu-Jabu's belly.
  • 30:57 - 30:58
    I don't know.
  • 30:59 - 31:02
    Okay, Lizalfos.
  • 31:02 - 31:05
These guys have a lot of strategy involved in them.
  • 31:05 - 31:08
Basically, in order for this fight to go really fast,
  • 31:08 - 31:11
I want them to never jump over my head.
  • 31:11 - 31:15
And you haven't seen it yet,
but normally what you do is you hit them
  • 31:15 - 31:16
    and they jump over you.
  • 31:17 - 31:20
But if you stand right on the edge of these platforms,
  • 31:21 - 31:23
they don't jump because if they were to jump
  • 31:23 - 31:26
it would put them in the lava or on top of you.
  • 31:26 - 31:29
And so, they're programmed not to be able to do that.
  • 31:37 - 31:40
Okay, so that's the first half of the dungeon done.
  • 31:40 - 31:43
We'd actually have a way to skip all of those rooms
  • 31:43 - 31:47
if we had a bottle, but bottles pretty...
  • 31:48 - 31:50
It's comparable, but it's a little bit slower
  • 31:50 - 31:53
in this route to get it, unlike N64.
  • 31:53 - 31:56
    Bottles are still pretty broken,
    but for different reasons,
  • 31:56 - 31:59
    and unfortunately, they're not
    too useful for this run,
  • 31:59 - 32:01
so we don't have to collect Cuccos,
  • 32:01 - 32:02
    which is kind of nice.
  • 32:02 - 32:04
Here's another swag strat I like to do.
  • 32:04 - 32:07
It saves about a second and a half or something.
  • 32:07 - 32:09
We're gonna pick up this bomb, put it here.
  • 32:09 - 32:12
    Oh shoot, that's bad.
  • 32:12 - 32:15
Well, I'm gonna have to do it
the regular way anyways, I guess.
  • 32:15 - 32:16
I probably could have saved it.
  • 32:17 - 32:19
But what I was trying to do there...
  • 32:19 - 32:20
    Oh, please grow back.
  • 32:21 - 32:22
    You're kidding me?!
  • 32:22 - 32:24
    Oh my goodness, that's awful.
  • 32:24 - 32:25
    Here, I'll do it again.
  • 32:25 - 32:27
I'll do the swag anyways, I'll go back.
  • 32:31 - 32:34
All right, and so I'm gonna take this bomb,
  • 32:34 - 32:36
and fill it in the spot
where I took the other one from.
  • 32:39 - 32:43
    I did it first try.
    (audience claps and whistles)
  • 32:46 - 32:48
    Shout outs to TK.
  • 32:55 - 32:56
    Okay.
  • 32:56 - 33:00
I don't need these, but there are some rupees there.
  • 33:00 - 33:05
    They basically increase my odds
of getting good RNG later in the run.
  • 33:05 - 33:08
It's nothing huge, but it's just for a little safety.
  • 33:08 - 33:11
All right, there's a strat in this room to...
  • 33:11 - 33:13
Oh shoot, wow that was weird.
  • 33:13 - 33:15
Okay, it looks like we're pushing this.
  • 33:16 - 33:19
I've never grabbed the Armos off the side like that.
  • 33:19 - 33:20
    That's weird.
  • 33:21 - 33:24
    I'm sure it's happened before,
    I just don't remember.
  • 33:24 - 33:26
Okay, this room's a little scary.
  • 33:28 - 33:30
This bridge, I haven't done it in a while,
  • 33:30 - 33:33
but it's not too hard to fall off of it,
  • 33:33 - 33:35
especially with these Keese coming at you.
  • 33:35 - 33:36
Please don't hit me. Okay, good.
  • 33:36 - 33:38
Sometimes that Keese just hits you.
  • 33:39 - 33:41
    All right, so there's...
  • 33:41 - 33:44
Navi has a text trigger here,
but you can backflip over it.
  • 33:47 - 33:49
All right, next room, oh shoot.
  • 33:49 - 33:54
Next room is something that a lot
of newer runners really don't like.
  • 33:54 - 33:55
    It's not that bad.
  • 33:55 - 33:59
I have a lot of tricks for it
to make it a lot more consistent
  • 33:59 - 34:01
than you would additionally make it out to be.
  • 34:01 - 34:03
    - Also, in this room they actually improved
  • 34:03 - 34:05
that ledge where you throw the bomb on.
  • 34:05 - 34:07
A lot of people might remember
  • 34:07 - 34:09
from playing Ocarina of Time on the N64
  • 34:09 - 34:12
that the bomb just likes to bounce off the door,
  • 34:12 - 34:17
but they actually made the ledge
able to catch the bomb on this one
  • 34:17 - 34:19
so it makes it a little bit easier.
  • 34:19 - 34:20
    - So in that last room,
  • 34:20 - 34:21
you're normally supposed to have the slingshot,
  • 34:21 - 34:23
and you're supposed to shoot a switch on the wall.
  • 34:23 - 34:25
    And oh, and this.
  • 34:25 - 34:27
You're supposed to shoot a switch on the...
  • 34:27 - 34:28
    I am low on health.
  • 34:29 - 34:31
You're supposed to shoot a switch on the wall
  • 34:31 - 34:33
to make the fire go away,
  • 34:33 - 34:35
but you can actually grab the corners
  • 34:35 - 34:37
of the platforms and kind of jump around.
  • 34:37 - 34:39
    That first one's pretty easy,
  • 34:39 - 34:41
but this next room after this one,
  • 34:41 - 34:43
there's two platforms you have to get around
  • 34:43 - 34:46
so it's a little more difficult.
  • 34:47 - 34:48
    The jumps are pretty precise.
  • 34:48 - 34:50
They're not the worst things in the world,
  • 34:50 - 34:55
but it's definitely not hard to mess them up.
  • 34:57 - 34:59
Okay, this health would be fine
  • 34:59 - 35:02
as long as I don't mess up here a lot,
  • 35:02 - 35:04
    which I hopefully won't.
  • 35:04 - 35:06
So we're gonna grab this corner
  • 35:06 - 35:08
and then kind of strafe over here.
  • 35:08 - 35:10
    Okay, there's this eye platform.
  • 35:10 - 35:11
    Oh, wow.
  • 35:11 - 35:13
I don't think I should've gotten the short hop there.
  • 35:13 - 35:15
The thing is, you can't be too close to the edge
  • 35:15 - 35:17
or you'll get a smaller jump
  • 35:17 - 35:19
and it won't have enough distance.
  • 35:20 - 35:23
But I thought I was far enough
from the edge to not get that.
  • 35:23 - 35:26
Okay, so we're gonna jump over to the eye switch,
  • 35:27 - 35:29
and then jump over to this platform.
  • 35:31 - 35:34
I'd like to be a little closer to the edge.
  • 35:34 - 35:35
    That's probably good.
  • 35:35 - 35:36
    All right, nice!
  • 35:36 - 35:38
    (audience clapping and whistling)
  • 35:41 - 35:42
    Let's get the cool strat.
  • 35:42 - 35:44
    Ayy.
    - Nice.
  • 35:44 - 35:46
    - That's pretty hard.
    - The most important trick.
  • 35:46 - 35:48
    - Yeah, that jump slash right there.
    That looks really cool.
  • 35:48 - 35:50
That's pretty hard on N64, actually.
  • 35:50 - 35:53
So now that we have bombs,
  • 35:53 - 35:57
things start getting a little better here.
  • 35:57 - 35:58
    Let me equip them.
  • 35:59 - 36:00
Okay, so having low health here
  • 36:00 - 36:02
    actually isn't that bad
  • 36:02 - 36:07
because I am going to kill Link again one more time
  • 36:07 - 36:09
in the next room coming up.
  • 36:11 - 36:12
    Nice.
  • 36:12 - 36:15
You can light those eyes way faster on 3DS
  • 36:15 - 36:16
    than you can on N64.
  • 36:16 - 36:19
You have to wait for the cutscene
for the first eye to be done
  • 36:19 - 36:21
    before the next one goes.
  • 36:21 - 36:24
Okay, behind this wall, there is a Deku Shield.
  • 36:24 - 36:25
And we don't use it too much,
  • 36:25 - 36:29
but it's good for a few things,
    so since it's so close,
  • 36:29 - 36:31
it's definitely worth it to pick it up.
  • 36:33 - 36:34
    And we're gonna equip it.
  • 36:37 - 36:40
In this next room, normally you have to go around
  • 36:40 - 36:43
    another really big room,
and then there's a block over there.
  • 36:43 - 36:44
You can see it up there.
  • 36:44 - 36:46
    You would push it down...
  • 36:46 - 36:47
    Oh, wow.
  • 36:47 - 36:48
    That happened. Okay.
  • 36:48 - 36:49
    That's a little slow.
  • 36:49 - 36:53
You would push it down off of the platform,
  • 36:53 - 36:56
and then push it onto the switch.
  • 36:56 - 36:58
But if you die on the switch,
  • 36:58 - 37:00
the game has to reload the dungeon again
  • 37:00 - 37:02
and send you back to the beginning,
  • 37:02 - 37:04
    and it says, "Hmm, okay.
  • 37:04 - 37:06
"What are all the temporary flags that we set?"
  • 37:06 - 37:09
So basically, little things like, oh,
  • 37:09 - 37:10
you got the thing out of this pot,
  • 37:10 - 37:14
or oh, you blew up the stairs and put them down.
  • 37:14 - 37:16
    And then it goes, okay,
  • 37:16 - 37:18
is the block pushed onto the switch?
  • 37:18 - 37:19
    And then it goes, well,
    there's something on the switch.
  • 37:19 - 37:21
It's gotta be the block, right?
  • 37:21 - 37:23
Well, it's actually Link's dead body,
  • 37:23 - 37:26
which is kind of morbid, but it's the truth.
  • 37:26 - 37:29
So, the block, if you had looked,
  • 37:29 - 37:30
    it was already pushed down,
  • 37:30 - 37:34
and so the boss doors open,
so we're just gonna come in.
  • 37:37 - 37:39
King Dodongo is the final boss of the game,
  • 37:39 - 37:41
but he's also the first boss of the game.
  • 37:42 - 37:45
It just depends on what category
    you're running, I guess. (chuckles)
  • 37:46 - 37:49
In Any%, this is how the run would end
  • 37:49 - 37:51
    with you beating King Dodongo
  • 37:51 - 37:53
and doing a glitch to get to the credits,
  • 37:53 - 37:56
but in all dungeons, we're just gonna
  • 37:56 - 37:58
beat this dungeon first to kind of get it over with.
  • 37:59 - 38:01
    Normally, in most other categories,
  • 38:01 - 38:04
you would come back to Dodongo's Cavern
  • 38:05 - 38:10
    because there's another item
that we're gonna get later on
  • 38:10 - 38:12
that lets us do some pretty nifty things
  • 38:12 - 38:13
    at the end of dungeons,
  • 38:13 - 38:16
but for the sake of this category
  • 38:16 - 38:20
and the route I am using,
    it's not very good.
  • 38:21 - 38:23
So we're just gonna beat the dungeon now,
  • 38:23 - 38:26
we're gonna watch the cutscene after the blue warp.
  • 38:26 - 38:28
Oh, by the way, this boss is also really hard.
  • 38:29 - 38:31
I don't know if I'm gonna make it.
  • 38:35 - 38:37
    - (in deep voice) Look out for his signature move.
  • 38:37 - 38:38
    (Ben laughs)
  • 38:38 - 38:39
    Lean back and breathe.
  • 38:41 - 38:43
    - Wow, I can't believe I killed him first try!
  • 38:43 - 38:46
    (audience claps and cheers)
  • 38:46 - 38:48
That took me weeks when I was a kid.
  • 38:50 - 38:52
    - One thing I'd like to mention is that
  • 38:52 - 38:55
a different between the original game
  • 38:55 - 38:58
and this game is that you have the Deku Stick
  • 38:58 - 39:02
and they do four damage for a jump slash
  • 39:02 - 39:03
    in the original game.
  • 39:03 - 39:06
In this game, that is no longer the case.
  • 39:06 - 39:08
They don't do double damage anymore,
  • 39:08 - 39:11
so that's why he hasn't been using it.
  • 39:11 - 39:13
    - Yeah, so it's really weird.
  • 39:13 - 39:16
On N64 O of T, the Master Sword
  • 39:16 - 39:20
literally is the same damage as a Deku Stick, like...
  • 39:22 - 39:23
Okay, so when you fight Ganon
  • 39:23 - 39:26
at the end of the game, usually only a Master Sword
  • 39:26 - 39:28
can hit him, but you can use a Deku Sword
  • 39:28 - 39:29
because they deal the same damage.
  • 39:29 - 39:31
    I don't know, it's really weird.
  • 39:31 - 39:32
They changed that in this version, though.
  • 39:32 - 39:34
So, a Deku Stick, no matter how you use it,
  • 39:34 - 39:37
whether it be a jump slash, regular slash, etc., etc.
  • 39:37 - 39:39
    It always does two damage,
  • 39:39 - 39:44
    which is the equivalent of
    a Kokiri Sword jump slash.
  • 39:44 - 39:48
And I haven't said it because
I'm so weathered in this game.
  • 39:48 - 39:50
I kind of forget that most people don't know
  • 39:50 - 39:51
a lot of the little details,
  • 39:51 - 39:54
but the most effective damage that you can do
  • 39:54 - 39:56
at all times is the jump slash
  • 39:56 - 39:57
    because it doubles the damage
  • 39:57 - 39:59
that you would normally be doing with a normal slash
  • 39:59 - 40:02
and that's the case for every single weapon
  • 40:02 - 40:04
except the Deku Stick, where it doesn't matter.
  • 40:04 - 40:05
It's all gonna be the same.
  • 40:07 - 40:10
    - In addition, there was something known
  • 40:10 - 40:12
as power crouch stabs in the original game.
  • 40:12 - 40:16
That is completely patched and we cannot do it here.
  • 40:16 - 40:18
    - Yeah, so crouch stab...
  • 40:18 - 40:20
Do you know what the deal with that, Fox, is, actually?
  • 40:20 - 40:22
Did they just forget to program it,
  • 40:22 - 40:23
    or was that intended?
  • 40:24 - 40:28
    - They got rid of it in English
    of Majora's Mask, so.
  • 40:28 - 40:30
    - So, probably not intended. I don't know.
  • 40:30 - 40:32
I think they just like didn't put a value
  • 40:32 - 40:35
for how much a crouch stab would do on N64,
  • 40:35 - 40:36
and so it's just like, well,
  • 40:36 - 40:38
what was the last thing that did damage?
  • 40:38 - 40:40
So if you did a jump attack,
  • 40:40 - 40:42
your crouch stab would do the damage
  • 40:42 - 40:44
of a jump attack and it was really fast.
  • 40:44 - 40:45
    Okay, so coming up here,
  • 40:45 - 40:48
I'm gonna do another type of ESS slide,
  • 40:50 - 40:52
known as a HESS, a hyper-extended super slide.
  • 40:52 - 40:54
This is the fastest form of movement
  • 40:54 - 40:56
that we can really get in this game.
  • 40:56 - 40:59
    It's kind of tricky.
  • 40:59 - 41:00
I hope I get them all here.
  • 41:00 - 41:04
Bomb count is kind of tight
for the early portions of this run.
  • 41:06 - 41:08
There's another one coming up right here.
  • 41:08 - 41:10
They're really fast when you do it well.
  • 41:12 - 41:14
    Oh, that was bad.
I've been doing that a lot recently.
  • 41:16 - 41:18
    Wow.
  • 41:21 - 41:23
What? All right, I will get this.
  • 41:25 - 41:27
    There we go.
  • 41:27 - 41:29
    (audience claps)
  • 41:29 - 41:30
    Whoops.
  • 41:34 - 41:37
    These Skulltulas are so bad.
  • 41:37 - 41:38
    I hate them so much.
  • 41:38 - 41:41
So basically, they kind of just spin around
  • 41:41 - 41:44
up there randomly and if they happen to look at you,
  • 41:44 - 41:46
you have to stop really fast.
  • 41:46 - 41:49
But they move really fast on 3D,
  • 41:49 - 41:52
    so if they see you,
  • 41:52 - 41:53
    you have to stop instantly,
  • 41:53 - 41:54
or right there, I was close,
  • 41:54 - 41:58
    or they will get you,
and they will get you really bad.
  • 41:58 - 42:00
So, you gotta be really careful with them.
  • 42:01 - 42:03
Okay, so coming up here, we're gonna get magic.
  • 42:03 - 42:06
We only use magic for like one item in this game,
  • 42:06 - 42:08
    but it's really worth it
  • 42:08 - 42:10
because it's like the most broken thing
  • 42:10 - 42:14
in this game and it's so incredibly just wow.
  • 42:15 - 42:17
And that's gonna bring us to another
  • 42:17 - 42:20
    really interesting change that Grezzo,
  • 42:20 - 42:22
the guys who made this game, somehow made,
  • 42:22 - 42:24
but we'll get to that a bit later.
  • 42:24 - 42:26
This is a great time for some
    donations if you have 'em.
  • 42:28 - 42:32
    - Well, we have one from Jarvis, $75, saying,
  • 42:32 - 42:33
"Hey Ben, good luck from all of us
  • 42:33 - 42:37
"who used to or currently play Ocarina of Time 3D.
  • 42:37 - 42:38
"I wish I could be there in person
  • 42:38 - 42:40
"to cheer you on, but I got a new job
  • 42:40 - 42:42
    "and have no vacation.
  • 42:42 - 42:43
    "Everyone keep doing amazing there.
  • 42:43 - 42:46
"Also, this is your reminder to do the thing
  • 42:46 - 42:48
"you told me to remind you to do.
  • 42:49 - 42:50
"I hope that's not too late."
  • 42:50 - 42:52
    - Can you repeat that? What was that?
  • 42:52 - 42:54
    - "This is your reminder to do the thing
  • 42:54 - 42:56
"you told me to remind you to do."
  • 42:57 - 42:58
    - Do the thing,
  • 42:58 - 43:00
    I don't know what he's talking about.
  • 43:00 - 43:02
    - Aw, thanks Jarvis.
  • 43:02 - 43:04
    - Thank you, Jarvis,
  • 43:04 - 43:07
    but I don't think I remember
    what you're talking about.
  • 43:07 - 43:10
    - Wow, we have $500 from Miriyafa.
  • 43:11 - 43:14
    (audience claps)
  • 43:16 - 43:19
"I love AGDQ and gotta donate every time.
  • 43:19 - 43:21
    "This goes to Runner's Choice."
  • 43:21 - 43:23
    Ben, what's your choice?
  • 43:23 - 43:25
    - Oh, what was the incentive again? I'm sorry.
  • 43:25 - 43:27
    - $500, it's Runner's Choice.
  • 43:28 - 43:30
So, what would you like the money to go to?
  • 43:30 - 43:31
    - What's coming up soon?
  • 43:31 - 43:33
    - I don't know, kill the animals?
  • 43:33 - 43:36
    (audience laughs)
Coming up next is Borderlands 2.
  • 43:36 - 43:39
    There's a $3,000 donation incentive
  • 43:39 - 43:40
    for Help Face McShooty.
  • 43:40 - 43:41
    - Put it to that.
  • 43:41 - 43:44
    - And $3,000 for a glitch exhibition.
  • 43:44 - 43:47
    - Uh, put it to the $3,000 one.
  • 43:47 - 43:49
    - They're both $3,000, but you want Help Face McShooty.
  • 43:49 - 43:52
    - The first one! The Help.
    - The first one, okay.
  • 43:52 - 43:54
Help Face McShooty just got $500.
  • 43:56 - 43:59
    (audience cheers and claps)
  • 44:02 - 44:04
    $200 from Strawberry.
  • 44:04 - 44:05
    "Hi AGDQ.
  • 44:05 - 44:07
"Another year, another chance to show the world
  • 44:07 - 44:09
"that 3DS Zelda is best Zelda.
  • 44:09 - 44:11
"Shout out to A Link Between Worlds community
  • 44:11 - 44:14
    "and to the benstephens slide."
  • 44:14 - 44:16
Have we just seen the benstephens slide?
  • 44:19 - 44:22
    - Okay, so I'm doing a trick here called a Navi dive.
  • 44:24 - 44:28
    Basically, it's the same thing
    as the triple sword thing,
  • 44:28 - 44:29
where if you slash the sword three times
  • 44:29 - 44:32
and then put it away, you take a big step back,
  • 44:32 - 44:36
but if you use Navi, she like does that.
  • 44:36 - 44:38
And then you fall in the water,
  • 44:39 - 44:41
    and then yeah.
  • 44:41 - 44:42
    There you go.
  • 44:43 - 44:44
    - It basically works the same if you've ever
  • 44:44 - 44:47
seen Navi dive in the original Ocarina of Time,
  • 44:47 - 44:48
where while you're in the cutscene
  • 44:48 - 44:50
    where Navi's talking to you,
  • 44:50 - 44:51
the water doesn't have any collision,
  • 44:51 - 44:53
so you just fall to the bottom.
  • 44:53 - 44:54
    - Yup, basically.
  • 44:54 - 44:57
    And it's really easy.
  • 44:57 - 44:59
    If you have this game,
  • 44:59 - 45:03
and you're playing along at home, you're keeping up,
  • 45:03 - 45:05
some of you are probably ahead of me, (laughs)
  • 45:07 - 45:08
    but let's say you're not,
  • 45:08 - 45:09
let's say you're still in Kokiri Forest.
  • 45:09 - 45:12
That's like the easiest way to escape the forest
  • 45:13 - 45:14
    early on in the game.
  • 45:14 - 45:18
So right here, I'm gonna grab a Deku Stick,
  • 45:18 - 45:20
    that's because I'm a baby.
  • 45:20 - 45:21
And I'm gonna grab Deku Nuts,
  • 45:21 - 45:23
and that's because I need them.
  • 45:23 - 45:25
I technically don't need to get another Deku Stick,
  • 45:25 - 45:27
but there's a trick coming up,
  • 45:27 - 45:30
and if I mess it up, it's not good,
  • 45:30 - 45:33
so I'm just grabbing it for safety.
  • 45:33 - 45:36
    Okay, here's another triple slash.
  • 45:37 - 45:38
    Oh.
  • 45:38 - 45:40
    That angle must've been off.
  • 45:40 - 45:41
    Okay, this should work.
  • 45:41 - 45:43
All right, so you go right through that corner
  • 45:43 - 45:45
    and...
  • 45:45 - 45:49
that skips having to watch King Zora do his thing.
  • 45:49 - 45:52
I'm sure you all love that.
    (audience claps)
  • 45:52 - 45:55
It's really fast to watch that cutscene.
  • 45:58 - 46:00
    So Deku Sticks do this...
  • 46:00 - 46:02
All two-handed weapons in this game
  • 46:02 - 46:04
    do something really weird,
  • 46:04 - 46:05
where when you do a jump slash,
  • 46:07 - 46:11
the tip of the sword goes behind your head.
  • 46:13 - 46:15
    And so what's happening,
I just clipped into Jabu right there.
  • 46:15 - 46:16
    What's happening is,
  • 46:17 - 46:20
the back of the sword is actually hitting Jabu,
  • 46:20 - 46:22
    and sends you flying backwards.
  • 46:22 - 46:25
It's really not what you'd think it'd be,
  • 46:25 - 46:26
    but yeah.
  • 46:28 - 46:30
Okay, so normally you're supposed to use slingshot
  • 46:30 - 46:33
on that switch, but bombs work.
  • 46:34 - 46:36
    Those bubbles are called Shaboms
  • 46:36 - 46:37
    and they're really annoying.
  • 46:38 - 46:41
It's really scary because in 100% speedruns
  • 46:41 - 46:43
of this game now, there's a glitch later on
  • 46:43 - 46:47
    that you do and basically,
  • 46:47 - 46:53
if you pick up a magic drop,
like an item drop from anything,
  • 46:53 - 46:55
    the run is just dead.
  • 46:55 - 46:58
And those Shaboms drop them a lot.
  • 46:58 - 46:59
    So, you'll just be rolling,
  • 46:59 - 47:01
a Shabom will hit you, it will drop magic,
  • 47:01 - 47:04
it will fall right on top of you, you'll pick it up,
  • 47:04 - 47:06
and you lose 45 minutes of your life.
  • 47:06 - 47:08
    It's kind of sad.
  • 47:09 - 47:13
Jabu is kind of not a great dungeon.
  • 47:13 - 47:16
You have to pick up Ruto
    and just carry her around.
  • 47:16 - 47:18
There's not really a whole lot you can do
  • 47:18 - 47:19
at the beginning half of this dungeon.
  • 47:19 - 47:22
That being said, the most important room of the game
  • 47:22 - 47:24
    is coming up, though.
  • 47:24 - 47:26
And I will explain why in a second.
  • 47:26 - 47:27
    It's very important.
  • 47:27 - 47:30
I assure you, this is no laughing matter, okay?
  • 47:30 - 47:32
So there's an Octorok in the next room,
  • 47:35 - 47:38
and he's gonna shoot a projectile at me.
  • 47:38 - 47:41
I'm gonna do a trick called a megaflip off of it,
  • 47:41 - 47:45
and if I miss it, I don't lose any time,
  • 47:45 - 47:47
    but like,
  • 47:48 - 47:50
    I'll be ashamed of myself.
  • 47:50 - 47:52
    (audience laughs)
  • 47:52 - 47:53
So I have to get this.
  • 47:55 - 47:57
    Uh oh, no!
  • 47:57 - 47:58
All right, I can redeem myself, all right.
  • 47:58 - 48:00
    I can redeem myself here.
  • 48:00 - 48:04
So if Ruto, if you're in the idle animation,
  • 48:04 - 48:06
Ruto can make this really weird noise.
  • 48:06 - 48:09
It's completely random, but hopefully she'll do it.
  • 48:09 - 48:11
Come on, do it, do it. Do it.
  • 48:11 - 48:12
    Ah, she didn't do it.
  • 48:12 - 48:13
All right, I still have a chance. Come on.
  • 48:13 - 48:14
    Make the noise.
  • 48:15 - 48:16
    Come on.
  • 48:17 - 48:18
    Come on.
  • 48:18 - 48:20
    (sucks in a breath)
  • 48:20 - 48:22
Ah, she's not doing it for me.
  • 48:22 - 48:23
    - [Men] Ah.
  • 48:23 - 48:26
    - The run's dead.
    (audience laughs)
  • 48:26 - 48:27
    (Ben groans)
  • 48:27 - 48:29
    How disappointing is that.
  • 48:29 - 48:31
Ah, that angle scared me a little bit.
  • 48:31 - 48:33
This backwalk is not really that scary,
  • 48:33 - 48:35
    but it's really scary, so.
  • 48:36 - 48:38
You can fall in one of those holes
  • 48:38 - 48:40
    and that's really bad.
  • 48:41 - 48:43
All right, I have to make sure
I equip Deku Nuts right now
  • 48:43 - 48:44
'cause when I get in the next room,
  • 48:44 - 48:47
    there's a text box that's gonna appear,
  • 48:49 - 48:51
and if that's up, I can't pause and stuff.
  • 48:54 - 48:55
    Okay.
  • 48:58 - 49:00
So Deku Nuts, that's the reason I got them.
  • 49:00 - 49:02
It's really good for this room.
  • 49:02 - 49:03
You can stun all of these guys.
  • 49:04 - 49:06
And that's also pretty much the last we're gonna see
  • 49:06 - 49:09
    of Ruto for a while.
  • 49:09 - 49:10
We'll see her at the end of the dungeon,
  • 49:10 - 49:12
and we'll briefly pass by her,
  • 49:12 - 49:14
    but we're basically ditching her,
  • 49:15 - 49:16
which is for the best, you know.
  • 49:17 - 49:19
    - Also, for some reason, in that room,
  • 49:19 - 49:21
I don't know why Grezzo would do it,
  • 49:21 - 49:23
but in original Ocarina of Time,
  • 49:23 - 49:24
    there's four of those stingrays.
  • 49:24 - 49:26
In this game, there's only three for some reason.
  • 49:26 - 49:29
    - Yeah, they change really weird stuff like that.
  • 49:29 - 49:31
There's just really weird spots where they like...
  • 49:31 - 49:34
There's a spot in the grave where you get Sun's Song
  • 49:34 - 49:35
where they just added a door,
  • 49:35 - 49:38
and they moved the Keese around in there.
  • 49:38 - 49:40
They do strange stuff like that.
  • 49:40 - 49:43
Okay, coming up here is the same trick
  • 49:43 - 49:44
I was trying to do off an Octorok,
  • 49:44 - 49:46
    except this one matters.
  • 49:51 - 49:52
    Nice!
    - Nice.
  • 49:52 - 49:54
    Whoa.
  • 49:54 - 49:56
    (audience clapping)
  • 49:56 - 50:02
    - All right, so that skips
    approximately 70% of Jabu-Jabu.
  • 50:03 - 50:05
    Shout outs to ZFG again.
  • 50:08 - 50:09
    Okay, and we can do,
  • 50:09 - 50:11
oh, oh wow, that messed up.
  • 50:11 - 50:12
    I didn't talk about it,
  • 50:12 - 50:13
but remember that trick I was talking about
  • 50:13 - 50:16
with the blue switches in Dodongo's Cavern?
  • 50:16 - 50:18
Well, that was the trick I just did.
  • 50:18 - 50:20
And it left that open for a little bit.
  • 50:20 - 50:23
Normally, you have to pick up a box,
  • 50:23 - 50:24
and put it on top of the switch,
  • 50:24 - 50:25
but we have no way of getting a box over there.
  • 50:25 - 50:27
    So we can do that.
  • 50:27 - 50:29
There's also a strat you can do found by FireBlaze,
  • 50:29 - 50:33
where you can roll to the door from the switch
  • 50:33 - 50:37
and open it before it closes,
    but it's like frame perfect,
  • 50:37 - 50:39
    and the angle's really weird,
and I don't like it, so yeah.
  • 50:41 - 50:44
Also, in the room before this I did a strat where,
  • 50:44 - 50:46
normally you have to climb up the vines
  • 50:46 - 50:48
and then hit the switch, but you can just snipe it
  • 50:48 - 50:50
with some cool side hop stuff.
  • 50:51 - 50:53
    Okay, Barinade.
  • 50:53 - 50:55
    This boss is pretty easy
  • 50:55 - 50:58
    except when it's not.
  • 50:58 - 51:00
I guess that's a good way to put it.
  • 51:02 - 51:03
    Okay, nice.
  • 51:03 - 51:04
    This should go well.
  • 51:04 - 51:05
    Okay.
  • 51:05 - 51:07
So normally, you have to wait for her to spin around
  • 51:07 - 51:09
and she does this annoying attack,
  • 51:09 - 51:11
    but if you boomerang her
  • 51:11 - 51:13
just as she starts the next phase,
  • 51:13 - 51:15
you can stun her and then use Deku Nuts
  • 51:15 - 51:18
to kill all of the little jellyfish things.
  • 51:18 - 51:20
    - Did you just assume that heart's gender?
  • 51:20 - 51:21
    - What was that?
  • 51:21 - 51:22
    (audience laughing)
  • 51:22 - 51:25
    - I said, did you just assume that heart's gender?
  • 51:25 - 51:26
    - Oh my goodness.
  • 51:27 - 51:29
I was thinking that too. (chuckles)
  • 51:30 - 51:32
You called me out on it.
  • 51:33 - 51:34
    So basically...
  • 51:34 - 51:36
    (audience clapping)
  • 51:37 - 51:39
You can clap for that, that was a good fight.
  • 51:40 - 51:45
    Basically, the point,
  • 51:45 - 51:46
the strat for that fight is you,
  • 51:46 - 51:47
at the end of it, you want to be as close
  • 51:47 - 51:49
to the middle of the room as possible
  • 51:49 - 51:53
because the blue warp can spawn in three places.
  • 51:54 - 51:55
If you're in the center of the room,
  • 51:55 - 51:58
you will optimally be closest to whichever one spawns.
  • 51:58 - 52:01
And it's always the spot furthest away from you.
  • 52:02 - 52:04
    There's something really weird
    that happens during this cutscene.
  • 52:04 - 52:06
I don't think I've ever had it happen to me.
  • 52:06 - 52:07
    I've seen a few people,
  • 52:07 - 52:12
    but sometimes the cutscene
goes way faster than it should.
  • 52:12 - 52:13
    I've never seen it,
  • 52:13 - 52:15
so it's probably not gonna happen now.
  • 52:17 - 52:19
    Another great time for donations.
  • 52:22 - 52:24
    - Well, maybe we'll do a sponsorship.
  • 52:24 - 52:27
chrono.gg sells one awesome game every day,
  • 52:27 - 52:30
and proceeds from GDQ feature titles
  • 52:30 - 52:32
    will benefit the Cancer Foundation.
  • 52:32 - 52:35
So check 'em out at chrono.gg/agdq.
  • 52:36 - 52:39
We do have some donations, of course.
  • 52:40 - 52:42
    TheCoops donated $200.
  • 52:42 - 52:44
"First time donating to such a great event.
  • 52:44 - 52:46
"Big thank you to all of those involved.
  • 52:46 - 52:47
"To all the runners looking forward
  • 52:47 - 52:48
"to seeing what you do in order
  • 52:48 - 52:49
"to get through those games quickly.
  • 52:49 - 52:52
"Also, I am on Team Save the Frames for this one.
  • 52:52 - 52:54
    "Gotta go fast."
  • 52:54 - 52:56
    Yeah, I agree, TheCoops.
  • 52:56 - 52:57
    - Gotta go fast!
  • 52:57 - 52:59
    (audience clapping)
  • 53:02 - 53:05
    - All right, so we finished two dungeons now,
  • 53:05 - 53:07
    Jabu and DC.
  • 53:07 - 53:09
So, now we're gonna get the next item,
  • 53:09 - 53:12
do some shenanigans, and go beat the rest.
  • 53:12 - 53:14
I was talking about how we use magic
  • 53:14 - 53:16
    for a really broken item.
  • 53:17 - 53:19
You know, people always talk about,
    "Oh yeah, when I..."
  • 53:19 - 53:20
    Oh, that's way too early.
  • 53:20 - 53:22
Wow, way to just waste a bomb.
  • 53:22 - 53:24
People always talk about, "Oh yeah, you know,
  • 53:24 - 53:25
"when I played this game as a kid..."
  • 53:25 - 53:28
You probably don't remember using this next item
  • 53:28 - 53:31
too often as a kid, but it's really good.
  • 53:33 - 53:34
    Oh shoot.
  • 53:35 - 53:38
    I cannot explain with words
  • 53:38 - 53:42
how just absolutely devastating is to this game,
  • 53:42 - 53:44
    it just, it destroys it.
  • 53:45 - 53:47
So you're gonna see some of that coming up,
  • 53:47 - 53:49
and probably in the next five minutes
  • 53:49 - 53:53
I'm gonna do something with Farore's Wind
  • 53:53 - 53:56
that's going to really be just like...
  • 53:56 - 53:58
If you've never seen an Ocarina of Time 3D run
  • 53:59 - 54:00
and you're just about to leave,
  • 54:00 - 54:02
    stick around for five minutes.
  • 54:02 - 54:03
    Something cool's about to happen.
  • 54:10 - 54:11
    Something I didn't mention earlier,
  • 54:11 - 54:14
sometimes it's fast to save the game and quit.
  • 54:14 - 54:16
    It warps you back to...
  • 54:16 - 54:17
If you're in a dungeon, it takes you back
  • 54:17 - 54:19
to the beginning of the dungeon.
  • 54:20 - 54:21
If you're just in the Overworld,
  • 54:21 - 54:24
it takes you back to your original spawn point,
  • 54:24 - 54:27
which, as child, is your house,
  • 54:27 - 54:30
and as adult, it's the Temple of Time.
  • 54:30 - 54:31
So I'm gonna be doing that right now
  • 54:31 - 54:33
to go back to Kokiri Forest.
  • 54:36 - 54:38
    Normally, as you can see,
  • 54:38 - 54:38
I have two of these Spiritual Stones.
    Normally, as you can see,
  • 54:38 - 54:40
I have two of these Spiritual Stones.
  • 54:40 - 54:42
Normally, you need three to go adult,
  • 54:42 - 54:45
but I don't really feel like
doing the Deku Tree right now,
  • 54:45 - 54:48
    because that dungeon's boring.
  • 54:50 - 54:52
    It's not boring, actually.
  • 54:52 - 54:54
    It's a little boring as a child,
but when we get there as adult,
  • 54:54 - 54:55
    it's gonna be pretty wild.
  • 54:55 - 54:56
    Oop, spoilers.
  • 54:57 - 54:59
Okay, I'm doing a trick here.
  • 55:01 - 55:02
    Nice! All right.
  • 55:02 - 55:03
So this is called ledge cancel.
  • 55:03 - 55:05
Basically, if you have a bomb hit you
  • 55:05 - 55:08
while shielding as you climb up a low ledge
  • 55:08 - 55:09
you can kind of just walk through stuff.
  • 55:09 - 55:10
    See ya.
  • 55:13 - 55:15
I don't know how to explain it.
  • 55:15 - 55:17
It gives you the same properties you have
  • 55:17 - 55:18
    when you climb ledges
  • 55:18 - 55:21
and so rounded collision doesn't affect you.
  • 55:23 - 55:24
    Wow, I'm bad.
  • 55:27 - 55:28
    There we go.
  • 55:28 - 55:32
    - With that ledge cancel, is it all actors
  • 55:32 - 55:33
or is it just the ones with rounded collision?
  • 55:33 - 55:35
    - It's only rounded collisions,
  • 55:35 - 55:39
so stuff like boulders, MPCs, King Zora,
  • 55:40 - 55:42
who's kind of an MPC, but...
  • 55:46 - 55:47
So, it's actually not that bad
  • 55:47 - 55:49
that I took that half heart of damage there
  • 55:49 - 55:50
    failing that HESS, because
  • 55:53 - 55:54
as you've seen already in this game
  • 55:54 - 55:56
    dying is not that bad,
  • 55:56 - 55:58
and we're gonna be taking use of it again.
  • 55:59 - 56:00
    Okay, right here.
  • 56:00 - 56:03
This is why Farore's Wind is so good.
  • 56:03 - 56:04
So, I just did a glitch.
  • 56:04 - 56:06
Normally, you can't use Farore's Wind
  • 56:06 - 56:07
    outside of dungeons.
  • 56:07 - 56:09
It's exclusively used inside of dungeons,
  • 56:09 - 56:12
but there's a glitch you can do
    called Restricted Items
  • 56:12 - 56:15
that allows you to use items
you're not normally allowed to use
  • 56:15 - 56:18
in places you're not normally allowed to use 'em.
  • 56:18 - 56:19
So I'm gonna buy the Hylian Shield here.
  • 56:19 - 56:24
Now, this can go for anywhere from 75 to 40 rupees.
  • 56:24 - 56:24
    Hopefully, it's not too much.
  • 56:24 - 56:25
    Okay, good.
  • 56:26 - 56:28
If it's not much money, then you have enough
  • 56:28 - 56:30
    to buy some extra bombs.
  • 56:30 - 56:32
    Let me explain Restricted Items.
  • 56:32 - 56:35
Basically, if you look down at the bottom screen,
  • 56:35 - 56:38
you can see that most of the items I can't use,
  • 56:38 - 56:39
    they're like dimmed out,
  • 56:39 - 56:42
but Zelda's Letter, I can use that item.
  • 56:42 - 56:44
    And so, oh shoot.
  • 56:44 - 56:47
If you switch an item that you can't use
  • 56:47 - 56:49
with an item you can use,
  • 56:49 - 56:52
you have one frame, one single frame,
  • 56:52 - 56:54
where if you use the item you can't use,
  • 56:54 - 56:57
you can use it, I guess.
  • 56:57 - 57:00
    I don't know, it's really bad.
  • 57:00 - 57:03
    It's another great example
    of Grezzo changing little things
  • 57:03 - 57:05
    that make really big differences.
  • 57:05 - 57:07
They changed the item menu. It's bad.
  • 57:07 - 57:09
Hey, here's another thing they changed
  • 57:09 - 57:11
    that's really for speed runs.
  • 57:11 - 57:13
They added a save and quit feature.
  • 57:13 - 57:14
    Wow, oh, I'm dead.
  • 57:14 - 57:17
Ah, I'm gonna quit the game
    'cause I'm so bad.
  • 57:17 - 57:18
    Ha ha.
  • 57:18 - 57:21
So, I entered grotto right there
  • 57:21 - 57:23
and I died at the same time,
and then I quit the game.
  • 57:23 - 57:25
So basically, what the game is trying to do
  • 57:25 - 57:26
is it's trying to load the grotto,
  • 57:26 - 57:29
but it also tried to load
the title screen at the same time,
  • 57:29 - 57:31
and so now I'm at the Lakeside Laboratory,
  • 57:31 - 57:33
and I'm gonna return Farore's Wind,
  • 57:33 - 57:35
and basically what the game is doing
  • 57:35 - 57:37
is it thinks I'm on the title screen,
  • 57:37 - 57:39
but it thinks I'm still playing the game.
  • 57:39 - 57:41
And so when you go to the title screen,
  • 57:41 - 57:44
it tries to add the value four.
  • 57:44 - 57:46
    Why four?
  • 57:46 - 57:47
    That's just the number.
  • 57:47 - 57:49
And so every time I enter a loading zone now,
  • 57:49 - 57:50
    it adds four.
  • 57:50 - 57:52
    And so, now I'm here.
  • 57:54 - 57:55
    - Nice.
  • 57:55 - 57:57
    - Wow, that's a hard megaflip. Nice.
  • 57:57 - 57:59
So now I'm at Shadow Temple.
  • 57:59 - 58:02
    Apparently, it was hiding
in the Hyrule Market all along.
  • 58:02 - 58:03
I don't know how he got there.
  • 58:03 - 58:05
    Who put that there?
  • 58:07 - 58:09
All right, so now that we're here,
  • 58:09 - 58:11
we might as well just go get hover boots, right?
  • 58:12 - 58:14
No one does this strat. I don't know why.
  • 58:14 - 58:17
If you jump slash through those text walls,
  • 58:17 - 58:19
you get a little extra distance, it saves some time.
  • 58:19 - 58:21
But I don't see anyone but me doing it.
  • 58:22 - 58:23
All right, so we're gonna fight Dead Hand.
  • 58:23 - 58:26
Something really weird about Dead Hand
  • 58:26 - 58:28
is that it doesn't matter what sword you have.
  • 58:30 - 58:32
If you have the Master Sword as child,
  • 58:32 - 58:33
    which yes, that's possible,
  • 58:34 - 58:37
it doesn't do the damage of a Master Sword.
  • 58:37 - 58:40
    Dead Hand actually checks
    whether you're child or adult
  • 58:40 - 58:42
to see how much damage you do to him.
  • 58:42 - 58:45
So we're gonna kill him, get our hover boots.
  • 58:46 - 58:47
    Something I should also mention,
  • 58:48 - 58:49
if you notice right now, the bottom screen
  • 58:49 - 58:52
doesn't look quite like it should
  • 58:52 - 58:54
    and that's because
  • 58:54 - 58:56
it still thinks we're on the title screen
  • 58:56 - 58:58
and normally that's how the bottom screen looks
  • 58:58 - 58:59
    on the title screen.
  • 59:00 - 59:04
And so, I can't actually use any items right now
  • 59:04 - 59:06
except for the ones that are on my X and Y button.
  • 59:06 - 59:08
Other than that, I can't use
    the touch screen for anything.
  • 59:08 - 59:11
So, I have to make due with the items that I have,
  • 59:11 - 59:14
which are Farore's Wind and bombs.
  • 59:14 - 59:15
    Luckily, in this case,
  • 59:15 - 59:17
    they are completely sufficient.
  • 59:17 - 59:19
So I'm gonna return Farore's Wind,
  • 59:19 - 59:22
go back to Market, and hey, you know,
  • 59:22 - 59:24
archery is a lot of fun.
  • 59:24 - 59:26
    Let's play some archery.
  • 59:26 - 59:27
    Except not.
  • 59:27 - 59:29
    We're here now, yay.
  • 59:29 - 59:31
    (audience laughs)
  • 59:32 - 59:34
and we're gonna enter Temple of Time.
  • 59:34 - 59:35
Wonder where this will take us.
  • 59:36 - 59:38
Oh, it took us to Temple of Time, that's nice.
  • 59:41 - 59:43
    Except, where's Link?
  • 59:43 - 59:44
    Oh, he's right there.
  • 59:44 - 59:46
    Perfect!
    (audience laughs)
  • 59:46 - 59:48
    (audience clapping)
  • 59:48 - 59:49
    Who'd have thought?
  • 59:53 - 59:56
So that was the Door of Time Skip.
  • 59:57 - 60:00
In this game, they really didn't want people
  • 60:00 - 60:01
getting past the Door of Time.
  • 60:01 - 60:02
Like, they really didn't want it.
  • 60:02 - 60:04
In Ocarina of Time, on N64,
  • 60:04 - 60:06
there's a little crack on the side of it
  • 60:06 - 60:08
that's just enough if you have enough speed
  • 60:08 - 60:09
that you can go through it.
  • 60:09 - 60:12
In this game, they doubled the size of the door.
  • 60:12 - 60:15
It extends out of bounds like
  • 60:15 - 60:17
the actual size of the door that's visible
  • 60:17 - 60:19
so there's no way around it.
  • 60:19 - 60:21
    It's really impenetrable,
  • 60:21 - 60:24
except if you Wrong Warp past it.
  • 60:25 - 60:28
So, that's what we just did there.
  • 60:28 - 60:30
    And I should mention,
  • 60:30 - 60:32
the fact that that Door of Time Skip works,
  • 60:33 - 60:34
    it's a miracle.
  • 60:34 - 60:37
    It's so convenient because...
  • 60:39 - 60:41
So, you'll notice when I picked up the Master,
  • 60:41 - 60:42
you remember how I said every loading zone,
  • 60:42 - 60:43
    it adds four?
  • 60:43 - 60:44
Well, when I picked Master Sword,
  • 60:44 - 60:46
    it actually didn't do that.
  • 60:46 - 60:47
I canceled the Death Hole glitch
  • 60:47 - 60:49
because that little cutscene that played
  • 60:49 - 60:51
when you enter Temple of Time where it's like,
  • 60:51 - 60:53
"Hey look, the Temple of Time,"
  • 60:53 - 60:55
and it pans around, it's like, "Ooh, it's pretty."
  • 60:55 - 60:57
That cutscene actually cancels the glitch,
  • 60:57 - 60:58
so picking up the Master Sword
  • 60:58 - 61:00
took me exactly where it was supposed to take me
  • 61:00 - 61:02
and the game is completely back to normal.
  • 61:02 - 61:06
    The fact that that cutscene
    is there is sheer coincidence,
  • 61:06 - 61:08
and this would not be possible without it.
  • 61:08 - 61:09
    It's insane.
  • 61:09 - 61:12
That being said, because we need that cutscene
  • 61:12 - 61:15
to do it, Door of Time Skip is a one-way trip.
  • 61:15 - 61:17
You can't go back once you do it.
  • 61:17 - 61:20
    I mean, there are ways,
but you have to jump through
  • 61:20 - 61:22
some pretty lengthy hoops to make it happen.
  • 61:24 - 61:28
    Also, because text mashing
is so fast in this game,
  • 61:28 - 61:29
there's actually parts of this cutscene
  • 61:29 - 61:31
where we're kind of just standing around,
  • 61:31 - 61:33
awkwardly staring at each other like right here.
  • 61:33 - 61:35
    It's really funny.
  • 61:37 - 61:38
It's like, uh, how's your day?
  • 61:40 - 61:42
    - (imitating old man) I see you've grown, eh?
  • 61:42 - 61:43
    (people laughing)
  • 61:43 - 61:46
You've been in here for quite some time.
  • 61:46 - 61:48
    - Just make you wait a little longer.
  • 61:48 - 61:49
    This cutscene takes forever.
  • 61:49 - 61:51
    Speaking of cutscenes,
  • 61:51 - 61:52
there's a really great one coming up
  • 61:52 - 61:55
that we skipped earlier, but it's gonna come back.
  • 61:55 - 61:58
It's a lot funnier this way, I promise.
  • 62:02 - 62:03
    All right, Light Medallion.
  • 62:03 - 62:05
So, let's do a tally here.
  • 62:05 - 62:07
We've still only beaten two dungeons.
  • 62:07 - 62:09
If I had to take a guess, we're probably somewhere
  • 62:09 - 62:11
    like 55 minutes in.
  • 62:11 - 62:13
    My estimate's like two hours.
  • 62:13 - 62:14
    You're probably wondering, "Wow,
  • 62:14 - 62:16
    "we've only beaten two dungeons,
  • 62:16 - 62:17
"we're like halfway through the run.
  • 62:17 - 62:19
"When is he gonna get to the other six?"
  • 62:19 - 62:21
    Don't worry, we'll get there.
  • 62:21 - 62:22
I know you're sitting at home,
  • 62:22 - 62:24
and there's sweat dripping down your face,
  • 62:24 - 62:26
you're saying, "Is he gonna do it?"
  • 62:26 - 62:27
I'm gonna do it, don't worry.
  • 62:27 - 62:30
    - That was a pretty good guess
on the time, by the way.
  • 62:30 - 62:31
    - I know this game pretty well.
  • 62:31 - 62:33
    (man chuckles)
  • 62:33 - 62:35
    We get along pretty well.
  • 62:36 - 62:37
    - That's consistency.
  • 62:40 - 62:41
    - Okay.
  • 62:41 - 62:43
    So, Sheik's here.
  • 62:43 - 62:45
    Shes' gonna talk to us.
  • 62:47 - 62:49
It'll be a good time for donations in a second,
  • 62:49 - 62:51
but I wanna watch this cutscene real quick.
  • 62:51 - 62:53
This cutscene's not all that interesting,
  • 62:53 - 62:56
but the one after this is quite good.
  • 62:57 - 62:59
And this one's not that long.
  • 62:59 - 63:02
    But there's definitely a lot
of cutscenes in this part of the room.
  • 63:06 - 63:10
Okay, so when we did Door of Time Skip,
  • 63:10 - 63:13
there's a cutscene right as you enter this room
  • 63:13 - 63:15
and we're gonna fall right into it
  • 63:15 - 63:18
where Navi goes over, and here it is right now.
  • 63:18 - 63:20
She's like, "Dude look, it's the Master Sword."
  • 63:20 - 63:23
But the Master Sword's not there anymore.
  • 63:25 - 63:28
    So, it's a little funky.
  • 63:30 - 63:33
There it is, the legendary blade.
  • 63:33 - 63:35
    (audience laughing)
  • 63:36 - 63:37
    There it is!
  • 63:38 - 63:39
    The Master Sword.
  • 63:41 - 63:42
    All right.
  • 63:43 - 63:46
So now what I wanna go do is go get the hookshot.
  • 63:46 - 63:48
So I'm gonna make my way over to do that.
  • 63:48 - 63:49
    I'll probably do some HESSes,
  • 63:49 - 63:52
but you already know what those are,
    so good time for donations.
  • 63:52 - 63:53
    - All right.
  • 63:53 - 63:55
Well, now would be a good time point out
  • 63:55 - 63:58
we have some donation incentives during this run.
  • 63:58 - 64:01
They're gonna be up at the end of the run,
  • 64:01 - 64:03
so only during the next hour you'll have time
  • 64:03 - 64:04
    to donate for these things,
  • 64:04 - 64:05
and some of them are great,
  • 64:05 - 64:08
like a Dark Link 18x20 inch art print,
  • 64:09 - 64:10
    Lost Woods art print,
  • 64:10 - 64:13
and a DS Lite Triforce edition
  • 64:13 - 64:16
autographed by our current speedrunner, Ben Stephens.
  • 64:17 - 64:19
    So check those out.
  • 64:19 - 64:22
    Speaking of the Zelda run,
  • 64:22 - 64:24
    elfsbit donated $100 saying,
  • 64:24 - 64:26
"Love AGDQ and especially the Zelda runs."
  • 64:26 - 64:27
Been a fan of the Legend of Zelda
  • 64:27 - 64:29
    since the original came out.
  • 64:29 - 64:31
That's a long time ago, elfsbit.
  • 64:34 - 64:37
We have a $1,000 donation from Shane Gill.
  • 64:37 - 64:40
    (audience cheers and claps)
  • 64:45 - 64:46
Huge respect to all of those
  • 64:46 - 64:48
    taking part in AGDQ.
  • 64:48 - 64:53
    This donation goes towards naming
the mudkip Waluigi in Pokemon Emerald.
  • 64:53 - 64:57
    (people imitating Waluigi noises)
  • 64:59 - 65:01
    - Got any ideas, Fox?
  • 65:03 - 65:04
    - Um...
  • 65:05 - 65:06
    (Ben chuckles)
  • 65:06 - 65:07
So I made a little mistake.
  • 65:07 - 65:09
Hopefully I'll find a way to fix it.
  • 65:28 - 65:30
    - Can I still read some more donations?
  • 65:30 - 65:32
    - Yes, you're free to read more donations.
  • 65:32 - 65:33
    - Okay.
  • 65:35 - 65:38
    FallStar gave us $100 saying,
  • 65:38 - 65:39
"Great to see a Zelda game
  • 65:39 - 65:40
    "this early in the marathon.
  • 65:40 - 65:42
"Much love to the Zelda speedruns community
  • 65:42 - 65:45
"and all the Saturday night bingo runners."
  • 65:48 - 65:50
    Anonymous donated $150 saying,
  • 65:50 - 65:52
    "We watch GDQ every year.
  • 65:52 - 65:53
"Thanks to the community for getting together
  • 65:53 - 65:56
"to support such a wonderful cause."
  • 65:56 - 65:57
    Thank you, Anonymous.
  • 66:01 - 66:04
    JimmyJack888 donated $150 saying,
  • 66:04 - 66:06
    "My friend beat cancer recently
  • 66:06 - 66:07
    "thanks to early detection.
  • 66:07 - 66:10
"Hoping this can go towards helping others.
  • 66:10 - 66:12
"Thanks to everyone who was involved
    in this great event."
  • 66:12 - 66:15
    Yeah. Thank you, JimmyJack888.
  • 66:23 - 66:25
    - Mm, 43, good time.
  • 66:25 - 66:27
That's pretty much the fastest you can get.
  • 66:27 - 66:30
    (audience claps)
  • 66:37 - 66:38
    All right.
  • 67:21 - 67:25
Okay, so now I'm gonna go
    and beat the Forest Temple.
  • 67:26 - 67:27
All right, there we go, nice HESS.
  • 67:33 - 67:34
    Okay.
  • 67:35 - 67:38
So, I made a bit of a routing error.
  • 67:39 - 67:41
I was supposed to set Farore's Wind
  • 67:41 - 67:43
after picking up the Master Sword.
  • 67:44 - 67:47
So, I'm gonna have to improvise just a little bit.
  • 67:49 - 67:51
It means I'm gonna have to do things
  • 67:51 - 67:51
    slightly out of order,
  • 67:51 - 67:53
and I'm gonna have to add a few steps
  • 67:53 - 67:55
to some things I was normally going to do.
  • 67:55 - 67:57
    Hopefully it should be okay.
  • 67:57 - 67:59
This HESS is really cool when you get it well.
  • 68:03 - 68:05
So, like I said, Door of Time Skip,
  • 68:05 - 68:07
it's kind of only one way,
  • 68:07 - 68:09
and it's funny that I went through all that
  • 68:09 - 68:11
to talk about it because I'm actually
  • 68:11 - 68:12
    gonna have to do something--
  • 68:12 - 68:13
Oh yeah, that's a hookshot jump.
  • 68:13 - 68:14
    Hey look at that.
  • 68:14 - 68:16
We're gonna do another one right here.
  • 68:16 - 68:18
    Wee!
  • 68:18 - 68:19
    (audience laughs)
  • 68:20 - 68:23
and they said this game wasn't broken.
  • 68:24 - 68:28
All right, so now we're just hanging out.
  • 68:28 - 68:31
All right, I gotta be a little quiet here
    'cause I gotta hear something.
  • 68:35 - 68:37
Okay, so you can hear when you're walking
  • 68:37 - 68:39
on the wood of the tunnels
  • 68:42 - 68:44
so that's what I'm using to navigate my way
  • 68:44 - 68:47
through the lost woods completely unloaded.
  • 68:51 - 68:53
Ah, that was one too many.
  • 68:54 - 68:56
Okay, so now we're in Sacred Forest Meadow.
  • 68:56 - 69:00
    (audience cheering and clapping)
  • 69:00 - 69:01
    Whoa.
  • 69:01 - 69:02
    Come on, the other way.
  • 69:04 - 69:07
Okay, so there's kind of a cool trick jump here.
  • 69:07 - 69:08
Let's see if I can get it.
  • 69:09 - 69:11
    Nice, all right.
  • 69:11 - 69:12
So you can use that to skip
  • 69:12 - 69:14
pretty much all of Sacred Forest Meadow.
  • 69:15 - 69:18
Normally, you'd have to go through these mazes again.
  • 69:21 - 69:23
Fox, opening Door of Time cutscene,
  • 69:23 - 69:25
that's inside of Temple of Time, right?
  • 69:26 - 69:28
    - Mm-hmm, uh...
  • 69:28 - 69:29
    - From Market?
  • 69:30 - 69:31
    - Yeah.
  • 69:31 - 69:32
    - Okay.
  • 69:33 - 69:35
All right, I'll just have to do that then.
  • 69:38 - 69:39
    Okay.
  • 69:39 - 69:41
Normally, right here there's a cutscene trigger
  • 69:41 - 69:43
    for the Minuet of Forest,
  • 69:43 - 69:45
but if you kill yourself right as you enter the cutscene
  • 69:45 - 69:47
    by shielding damage,
  • 69:48 - 69:50
you actually can just skip right past it.
  • 69:52 - 69:57
Okay, so that gave me the Minuet of Forest.
  • 69:57 - 70:00
So, you didn't see me get it, but I have it.
  • 70:00 - 70:01
And now I'm gonna go get another song.
  • 70:01 - 70:04
I'm gonna go get the Nocturne of Shadow.
  • 70:04 - 70:06
    Sorry, not the Nocturne.
I'm gonna get the Bolero of Fire.
  • 70:06 - 70:08
So I'm gonna come back through this way
  • 70:08 - 70:10
    to get to Goron City.
  • 70:26 - 70:27
Okay, so this guy right here,
  • 70:27 - 70:29
he's gonna give me the Goron tunic.
  • 70:30 - 70:31
    Okay.
  • 70:33 - 70:37
Again, this guy's text is really long on N64,
  • 70:37 - 70:39
but it's quite short in this game,
  • 70:39 - 70:44
so we don't really have to worry
about his text bothering us too much.
  • 70:46 - 70:49
    - I think it's funny that he's named Warmham
  • 70:49 - 70:51
    because you're named Warmham.
  • 70:51 - 70:53
    - Isn't that really convenient?
  • 70:54 - 70:57
I can't believe, oh that's what it means.
  • 70:57 - 70:59
You guys must have obviously, in the audience,
  • 70:59 - 71:01
known that this guy's name was Warmham
  • 71:01 - 71:02
and you wanted us to share names.
  • 71:04 - 71:05
    That's gotta be it.
  • 71:07 - 71:08
    Okay.
  • 71:15 - 71:17
All right, when we hit ourselves--
    Oh, wow.
  • 71:17 - 71:19
I got the frame perfect one anyways,
    so I didn't need to.
  • 71:19 - 71:20
    Woo.
    - Nice.
  • 71:21 - 71:24
    - Okay, so now we're entering Death Mountain Crater.
  • 71:29 - 71:32
And I wanna do more damage to myself
  • 71:32 - 71:34
so I'm gonna fall in here.
  • 71:38 - 71:40
I get hit by this bomb.
  • 71:41 - 71:43
I should've taken damage by falling in Goron City.
  • 71:43 - 71:44
    That would've been faster.
  • 71:47 - 71:48
    Okay.
  • 71:48 - 71:50
Oh, that's bad. Don't do that.
  • 71:50 - 71:51
    Just kidding!
  • 71:55 - 71:57
Okay, so I'm gonna put this bomb here.
  • 71:58 - 72:02
And wow, what do you know, it happened again.
  • 72:02 - 72:03
I need to get better at this game.
  • 72:03 - 72:05
    (audience laughs)
  • 72:06 - 72:07
    Okay.
  • 72:08 - 72:11
    - Both the Minuet of Forest cutscene skip
  • 72:11 - 72:12
that you did and that cutscene skip
  • 72:12 - 72:17
also work exactly the same in normal Ocarina of Time.
  • 72:17 - 72:19
In normal Ocarina of Time, you have more options
  • 72:19 - 72:20
of how to do those cutscene skips,
  • 72:20 - 72:24
but you can do 'em exactly
the way Ben just did as well.
  • 72:26 - 72:29
    - All right, so now I'm gonna go beat the Forest Temple.
  • 72:37 - 72:38
    Come on.
  • 72:38 - 72:40
    Ah, I can't get it!
  • 72:41 - 72:42
    Thank you.
  • 72:43 - 72:46
    - Hookshotting that stump is
the hardest trick in the game.
  • 72:46 - 72:47
    - That's the hardest trick in the game too.
  • 72:47 - 72:48
    (audience clapping)
  • 72:48 - 72:49
Yeah, we can clap for that. It's a hard trick.
  • 72:50 - 72:52
Okay, so now I'm in the Forest Temple.
  • 72:53 - 72:57
I am gonna set Farore's Wind in this first room.
  • 73:07 - 73:14
And this dungeon is kind of long, I guess.
  • 73:16 - 73:19
You know, you have to free all the Poes
  • 73:19 - 73:21
to do the elevator thing and you have to,
  • 73:22 - 73:26
you know, go get the bow and the boss key.
  • 73:27 - 73:30
And there's this cutscene here, so...
  • 73:30 - 73:32
I mean, as far as this game goes,
  • 73:32 - 73:33
    it's a pretty long dungeon.
  • 73:36 - 73:38
    Definitely one of the longer...
  • 73:45 - 73:50
So first, I'm gonna go over to this room here.
  • 73:50 - 73:53
And there's a nice corner here.
  • 73:56 - 73:57
    Okay.
  • 73:57 - 73:58
    (Link screams)
  • 73:58 - 74:00
    (audience laughs)
  • 74:00 - 74:02
What do you think? That was pretty long, right?
  • 74:03 - 74:06
    (audience claps)
  • 74:09 - 74:10
    You think I'm kidding.
  • 74:10 - 74:12
That's actually one of the longer dungeons.
  • 74:12 - 74:13
    (audience chuckles)
  • 74:13 - 74:15
    (dramatic music)
  • 74:18 - 74:19
    Okay, Phantom Ganon.
  • 74:19 - 74:22
He has a really cool strat if you're good.
  • 74:22 - 74:24
You gotta be pretty good to get this strat.
  • 74:24 - 74:26
    It's kind of difficult.
  • 74:26 - 74:28
    It's not the worst thing.
  • 74:28 - 74:30
    But basically, the first phase,
  • 74:30 - 74:32
    there's nothing really much
you can do to make that faster,
  • 74:32 - 74:37
but the second phase is a little bit more difficult.
  • 74:39 - 74:42
There's a way that you can stun him
  • 74:42 - 74:43
    before he attacks you.
  • 74:43 - 74:45
Normally, you have to play tennis with him,
  • 74:45 - 74:47
but if you're good with the hookshot,
  • 74:47 - 74:49
you can stun him and then attack him
  • 74:49 - 74:51
    while he's looking away.
  • 74:51 - 74:53
    It's kind of tricky.
  • 74:53 - 74:58
Normally, I don't get it perfectly
    'cause it's pretty hard,
  • 74:58 - 75:00
but hopefully I'll at least get it like a little bit.
  • 75:03 - 75:04
    Oh, one more.
  • 75:04 - 75:05
    I'm bad at counting.
  • 75:13 - 75:15
You can tell these two apart
  • 75:15 - 75:17
because the one I want to hit is a little bit lighter.
  • 75:17 - 75:18
All right, let's see if I can get this.
  • 75:19 - 75:20
    Nice.
  • 75:22 - 75:23
    Nice!
  • 75:27 - 75:28
    - [Ben and Man] Nice!
  • 75:28 - 75:30
    (audience cheering)
    - Woo!
  • 75:32 - 75:35
That feels so good when you get it right.
  • 75:40 - 75:43
    Okay, normally I wouldn't grab
    the Heart Container here,
  • 75:43 - 75:46
but I'm a little scared because of the route changes
  • 75:46 - 75:49
    I'm gonna have to make,
so I think I'm gonna grab it.
  • 75:50 - 75:52
    Fox, it's from Market, right?
  • 75:52 - 75:53
    Not from save warp?
  • 75:54 - 75:55
    - From Market, yes.
  • 75:55 - 75:57
    - Okay, I think I'll do that then.
  • 76:00 - 76:04
Okay, so after this dungeon, there's a cutscene
  • 76:04 - 76:06
when you enter the blue warp and
  • 76:07 - 76:10
    we don't like cutscenes.
  • 76:10 - 76:13
So, we will not watch the cutscene.
  • 76:13 - 76:15
    And to do that,
  • 76:17 - 76:20
I'm gonna be doing a dumb trick.
  • 76:20 - 76:22
    Okay.
  • 76:22 - 76:23
    Nice, all right!
    - Nice.
  • 76:23 - 76:24
    So this should work.
    - Nice.
  • 76:24 - 76:25
    - All right.
  • 76:25 - 76:28
So that Restricted Item glitch I did,
  • 76:28 - 76:31
it's frame-perfect and if you did out of a side hop
  • 76:31 - 76:33
onto the edge of a blue warp, you can,
  • 76:33 - 76:34
    right as it's working away,
  • 76:34 - 76:37
    return Farore's Wind, and...
  • 76:37 - 76:40
You get the medallion if you went into my inventory.
  • 76:40 - 76:42
    (audience claps)
  • 76:44 - 76:45
if you went into my inventory,
  • 76:45 - 76:47
you'd see that I had the medallion,
  • 76:47 - 76:49
but I didn't watch the cutscene
  • 76:49 - 76:51
and I made that look pretty easy,
  • 76:51 - 76:53
at least, I hope I made it look easy.
  • 76:53 - 76:53
    Did that look easy?
at least, I hope I made it look easy.
  • 76:53 - 76:54
    - That looked pretty easy.
    Did that look easy?
  • 76:54 - 76:55
    - That looked pretty easy.
  • 76:55 - 76:57
    - Okay, it's not. It's really dumb and hard.
  • 76:57 - 76:57
    - It's really not.
  • 76:57 - 76:59
    - It's not a fun trick.
  • 76:59 - 77:01
Okay, so now I'm in Temple of Time.
  • 77:01 - 77:04
And I'm gonna leave Temple of Time,
  • 77:04 - 77:06
and then we're gonna back in Temple of Time.
  • 77:07 - 77:11
And I'm gonna do another Restricted Items
    to set Farore's Wind here.
  • 77:11 - 77:13
Now, this seems weird, and it is a little weird,
  • 77:13 - 77:18
but this will become important in a couple minutes.
  • 77:20 - 77:23
All right, now we're gonna go back to the Fire Temple
  • 77:23 - 77:26
and that's the next dungeon we're gonna be tackling.
  • 77:26 - 77:29
This is actually one of the longer dungeons,
  • 77:29 - 77:31
and the fact that I made the routing error
  • 77:31 - 77:34
that I made earlier is gonna make it a lot longer
  • 77:34 - 77:37
than it ought to be, which is kind of unfortunate,
  • 77:37 - 77:39
but after I beat this dungeon,
  • 77:39 - 77:42
everything that I've already done is gonna fix itself,
  • 77:42 - 77:45
so I just have to make it through this, which hopefully...
  • 77:45 - 77:47
I'm a little unfamiliar with it
  • 77:47 - 77:50
'cause this is not exactly what I practice,
  • 77:50 - 77:52
but it should be fun. (chuckles)
  • 77:54 - 77:57
Plus, Fire Temple is actually a pretty cool dungeon.
  • 77:57 - 77:58
    I like it.
  • 77:58 - 77:59
    It's very technical.
  • 78:01 - 78:03
And you'll get to see some cool tricks
  • 78:03 - 78:06
you otherwise would not be able to see.
  • 78:06 - 78:08
But first, we gotta talk to Darunia again.
  • 78:08 - 78:10
He's just always getting in the way.
  • 78:17 - 78:18
    Okay.
  • 78:19 - 78:22
Something also kind of small I never talked about.
  • 78:22 - 78:24
    Hover boots and iron boots,
  • 78:24 - 78:26
you can put them on really fast in this game.
  • 78:26 - 78:29
On the original game, you would just have to
  • 78:30 - 78:32
pause the game, go into the menu,
  • 78:32 - 78:33
    put them on, you know.
  • 78:33 - 78:35
It was really slow and really bad,
  • 78:35 - 78:37
    especially in the Water Temple
  • 78:37 - 78:39
where you had to put on iron boots a lot,
  • 78:39 - 78:43
    but here it's...
  • 78:43 - 78:45
They added it as an equippable item,
  • 78:45 - 78:47
    and that's actually really good.
  • 78:47 - 78:49
If you were watching earlier and you saw me
  • 78:49 - 78:51
do that trick where, I called it a hookshot jump,
  • 78:51 - 78:55
where you go really high up with the hookshot.
  • 78:55 - 78:57
    That actually utilizes the fact
  • 78:57 - 78:59
that when you put on the boots from the item,
  • 78:59 - 79:00
you do this cool little hoppy thing.
  • 79:00 - 79:02
I don't know, it's like this cute little animation.
  • 79:04 - 79:07
But the fact that the animation happens
  • 79:07 - 79:09
cancels the animation of the hookshot,
  • 79:09 - 79:11
and so it just sends you like really high.
  • 79:11 - 79:12
    I don't know.
  • 79:13 - 79:15
That animation, most of the time, is kind of slow,
  • 79:15 - 79:19
so I will usually do things to skip it.
  • 79:20 - 79:22
And by that, if you put on the hover boots
  • 79:22 - 79:24
the same frame you do something else
  • 79:24 - 79:26
    like rolling, opening doors,
  • 79:26 - 79:28
talking to an MPC, you skip the animation,
  • 79:28 - 79:31
so all over the place I'm using that
  • 79:31 - 79:33
and you probably don't even notice it.
  • 79:33 - 79:34
    It's little optimizations like that
  • 79:34 - 79:38
that really separate some of the best runners
  • 79:38 - 79:39
    from all the other ones.
  • 79:41 - 79:43
Okay, so I'm gonna grab some keys here
  • 79:43 - 79:45
so that I can move forward.
  • 79:48 - 79:49
    Oh, don't hit me.
  • 79:50 - 79:52
Fire Temple is kind of tricky
  • 79:52 - 79:55
'cause there's a lot of things
  • 79:55 - 79:56
    that want to hurt you,
  • 79:57 - 79:59
and at this point of the run,
  • 79:59 - 80:00
we obviously don't have too much health,
  • 80:00 - 80:03
so as far as health management goes,
  • 80:03 - 80:05
this dungeon's a little bit scary.
  • 80:05 - 80:06
It's not the worst thing ever,
  • 80:06 - 80:09
but you definitely have to be pretty careful
  • 80:09 - 80:10
especially in the later parts of the dungeon
  • 80:10 - 80:13
where things get a little crazier.
  • 80:13 - 80:15
But at the beginning, it's pretty normal
  • 80:15 - 80:17
as far as what was intended.
  • 80:24 - 80:25
    Okay.
  • 80:33 - 80:34
    There's actually a glitch
  • 80:34 - 80:35
that lets you skip one of these keys,
  • 80:35 - 80:37
    but it requires Din's Fire,
  • 80:37 - 80:38
    and I don't have Din's Fire,
  • 80:38 - 80:41
so I can just run through and grab the keys.
  • 80:41 - 80:42
    They don't take that long.
  • 80:42 - 80:45
It saves about 30 seconds to do the skip,
  • 80:46 - 80:48
so it's not a huge deal.
  • 80:48 - 80:50
Obviously, not worth going to go get Din's Fire
  • 80:50 - 80:52
just to save like 30 seconds there.
  • 80:53 - 80:55
    Okay.
  • 81:00 - 81:01
    Woo, I love that.
  • 81:01 - 81:02
    That looks so cool.
  • 81:03 - 81:04
    Okay.
  • 81:04 - 81:06
    This next room is,
  • 81:06 - 81:09
I'd say it's probably the scariest room in the dungeon.
  • 81:09 - 81:11
It's not that bad, but there's a couple tricks.
  • 81:11 - 81:13
They look pretty cool when you do 'em right.
  • 81:13 - 81:16
Okay, so first off, there's a block here.
  • 81:16 - 81:18
Normally, you'd push it, but I'm gonna do a trick
  • 81:18 - 81:22
to skip it called a megajump.
  • 81:24 - 81:25
    Okay.
  • 81:27 - 81:28
    Nice. All right.
  • 81:28 - 81:30
So right here, I'm using the home menu
  • 81:30 - 81:33
    to pick out individual frames
  • 81:33 - 81:35
so that I can do frame perfect tricks.
  • 81:35 - 81:37
That trick actually has a two-frame window,
  • 81:37 - 81:39
    but it's technically frame perfect.
  • 81:39 - 81:40
    Oh, and also, I'm...
  • 81:40 - 81:41
    Whoa.
  • 81:41 - 81:43
    Ah.
  • 81:43 - 81:45
That there, it's called a ledge clip.
  • 81:46 - 81:48
If you target a wall at the same frame
  • 81:48 - 81:50
    that you grab a ledge,
    you actually clip through it.
  • 81:50 - 81:52
And I use a bomb to get down here,
  • 81:52 - 81:54
which skips probably about two minutes of the dungeon.
  • 81:55 - 81:59
    That trick right there, actually,
there was an old method to do it,
  • 81:59 - 82:00
    and it was...
  • 82:00 - 82:02
    - It was really bad.
  • 82:02 - 82:03
    - It was something.
  • 82:03 - 82:04
I guess you could say that.
  • 82:04 - 82:06
    It was awful.
  • 82:08 - 82:09
I don't even wanna begin to explain it.
  • 82:09 - 82:11
It was probably the hardest thing in the run
  • 82:11 - 82:15
back in the day, but then ledge clipping was found.
  • 82:15 - 82:16
Like how long ago was that?
  • 82:16 - 82:18
That was like two years ago or something.
  • 82:18 - 82:21
I don't know how that trick took so long to find.
  • 82:21 - 82:26
    That was something that should've
    been found like years ago.
  • 82:26 - 82:28
Gonna grab this heart just for safety.
  • 82:28 - 82:29
Er, or I'm not gonna grab it, I don't know.
  • 82:29 - 82:31
    (audience laughs)
  • 82:31 - 82:33
    That's fine, you know.
  • 82:35 - 82:36
    Okay.
  • 82:37 - 82:40
All right, so this room has a big fire maze.
  • 82:40 - 82:43
What I can do here is, there's two different ways.
  • 82:43 - 82:45
I'm gonna go for the fast one, in which,
  • 82:45 - 82:48
if you do a really fast test, you can...
  • 82:50 - 82:50
    All right, I missed it.
  • 82:50 - 82:52
I'll go for the slow one then.
  • 82:53 - 82:54
    What's this guy doing?
  • 82:54 - 82:56
    All right, so I'm gonna...
  • 82:56 - 82:58
Nope, get out of my way.
  • 82:58 - 82:59
All right, so there's that fire wall there.
  • 82:59 - 83:01
Normally, you'd need to go around
  • 83:01 - 83:04
to the other side and use a key to get past that,
  • 83:04 - 83:05
but you can actually just roll past it.
  • 83:05 - 83:07
    It's really easy.
  • 83:07 - 83:09
It only works on that one, though,
  • 83:09 - 83:11
because it's angled weird on the wall.
  • 83:12 - 83:16
Okay, pick up some more bombs.
  • 83:21 - 83:22
    Okay!
  • 83:25 - 83:29
Flare Dancer is a pretty easy mini-boss.
  • 83:37 - 83:38
    Link's got hops.
  • 83:42 - 83:45
This is another spot where power crouch stabbing
  • 83:46 - 83:50
is used on N64, but we obviously can't do that.
  • 83:51 - 83:55
As stated before, jump slashing suffices.
  • 83:55 - 83:56
All right, if you hop on this elevator
  • 83:56 - 83:58
as he's dying, you can kind of ride it up
  • 83:58 - 84:01
during the cutscene of the door opening back up.
  • 84:03 - 84:04
    Okay.
  • 84:04 - 84:05
    And once we're up here,
  • 84:06 - 84:08
we will get to the Megaton Hammer, which...
  • 84:09 - 84:12
You need the Megaton Hammer to beat Volvagia.
  • 84:12 - 84:16
There's actually a way to get
to the boss key really early
  • 84:16 - 84:18
and get to the boss room, but there's no way
  • 84:18 - 84:21
to kill Volvagia without the Megaton Hammer.
  • 84:21 - 84:23
So it's essential that we get it.
  • 84:29 - 84:31
But once we get the hammer,
  • 84:31 - 84:33
    it won't be long before
    we're back to...
  • 84:36 - 84:38
we're back to the boss room.
  • 84:38 - 84:39
    Promise.
  • 84:43 - 84:44
    Okay.
  • 84:44 - 84:45
This is a little scary 'cause if we fall there,
  • 84:45 - 84:48
    it's kind of dumb.
  • 84:48 - 84:49
    Okay, so the hammer.
  • 84:52 - 84:55
Yeah, so we don't end up using this item very much.
  • 84:57 - 84:58
    Okay.
  • 84:58 - 84:59
    Oh no, I fell.
  • 84:59 - 85:01
Oh wait, I actually did fall.
  • 85:01 - 85:03
Uh, what do I do about that?
  • 85:03 - 85:04
Okay, back up. Back up. (chuckles)
  • 85:04 - 85:05
    That door's locked.
  • 85:06 - 85:08
    I got this, don't worry.
  • 85:08 - 85:10
I watch ZFG fail this all the time.
  • 85:10 - 85:12
    (audience laughs)
  • 85:14 - 85:16
I can do a megaflip here.
  • 85:20 - 85:21
    Okay, nice.
  • 85:21 - 85:23
Wait, was that the one I needed to get over?
  • 85:23 - 85:24
Yeah no, I'm good. I'm good.
  • 85:24 - 85:25
    I got this.
  • 85:25 - 85:28
This run, this is all full of improvisations.
  • 85:28 - 85:29
You're seeing all kinds of stuff
  • 85:29 - 85:30
    you'd never normally see.
  • 85:30 - 85:31
    Don't hit me. Okay.
  • 85:32 - 85:34
    - That Keese was a bit scary.
    - Oh my goodness.
  • 85:34 - 85:38
    - So I'm gonna do a ledge clip here.
  • 85:38 - 85:41
And then, all right, that puts me in the boss room.
  • 85:42 - 85:45
    (audience claps)
  • 85:48 - 85:50
    Okay, Volvagia's...
  • 85:50 - 85:52
He's actually a pretty scary boss.
  • 85:52 - 85:55
His fire tech does like four or three damage.
  • 85:55 - 85:57
    I don't remember. It's really devastating.
  • 85:57 - 85:58
If it hits me, I'll die.
  • 85:59 - 86:01
    I don't wanna do that.
  • 86:01 - 86:03
This is like one of the few times in the game
  • 86:03 - 86:04
    I actually don't wanna die.
  • 86:04 - 86:07
I know, that doesn't happen very often, but...
  • 86:10 - 86:11
    Okay.
  • 86:11 - 86:12
    (ominous music)
  • 86:22 - 86:24
    So something interesting about Volvagia
  • 86:24 - 86:27
is there's actually two Volvagias in this fight
  • 86:27 - 86:28
even though, obviously, there's only one.
  • 86:28 - 86:30
There's the one that flies around the room,
  • 86:30 - 86:31
    and then there's the one
  • 86:31 - 86:33
that sticks her head out like this.
  • 86:36 - 86:38
So, the reason I'm putting bombs down
  • 86:38 - 86:41
is because I'm hitting the one
    that flies around the room
  • 86:41 - 86:43
because she still has an active hurtbox
  • 86:43 - 86:46
that we can get her with.
  • 86:46 - 86:47
    This is kind of scary.
  • 86:47 - 86:48
    Okay, good.
  • 86:48 - 86:51
And so, what I'm doing is I'm skipping her
  • 86:51 - 86:54
flying around the room by hitting her with bombs.
  • 86:57 - 86:58
    Okay.
  • 87:00 - 87:01
    Nice, all right. Good.
  • 87:03 - 87:04
There's a little bit of RNG in that fight
  • 87:04 - 87:06
because if she pops out of the first hole,
  • 87:06 - 87:09
you're screwed, there's nothing you can do.
  • 87:09 - 87:12
You just kind of have to do whatever.
  • 87:12 - 87:14
So, a little bit of a scary boss,
  • 87:14 - 87:15
    but luckily that's over.
  • 87:16 - 87:17
    Okay.
  • 87:17 - 87:19
So that trick I did earlier in Forest Temple
  • 87:19 - 87:20
    that skipped the cutscene,
  • 87:20 - 87:22
I'm gonna do it again here.
  • 87:24 - 87:26
But it's gonna do something a little bit different.
  • 87:31 - 87:34
Okay, so I'm gonna save in case I mess this up.
  • 87:34 - 87:37
Wait for Volvagia to go away. Okay.
  • 87:37 - 87:39
Gotta put away the hammer. Okay.
  • 87:41 - 87:42
    Please put that away.
  • 87:43 - 87:44
    Oh, I hit the warp.
  • 87:44 - 87:45
    Woops. Okay.
  • 87:45 - 87:47
So I have to restart and go back to the warp.
  • 87:47 - 87:49
    That's why I saved.
  • 87:50 - 87:52
Oh, I guess that means I need
to go get the boss key too.
  • 87:52 - 87:54
Okay, so this is slightly improvised,
  • 87:54 - 87:56
'cause like I said, I messed something up.
  • 87:56 - 87:58
It's kind of weird. Insignificant, but...
  • 87:58 - 88:01
So, I guess I have to go get the boss key now,
  • 88:01 - 88:02
which will just take a minute,
  • 88:02 - 88:04
and I'll have to go back to the room.
  • 88:04 - 88:05
    I didn't think about that.
  • 88:10 - 88:13
So this is actually a trick that
you normally wouldn't see in this run.
  • 88:13 - 88:14
    It's called hookshot clipping.
  • 88:14 - 88:16
It's really useful in the 100%,
  • 88:16 - 88:18
    but basically, another interesting change
  • 88:18 - 88:20
that Grezzo made is that the hookshot
  • 88:20 - 88:22
    is just like really overpowered,
  • 88:22 - 88:24
so you can just go through walls
    and stuff, I don't know.
  • 88:24 - 88:27
    (audience claps)
  • 88:27 - 88:28
So, I'll just grab the boss key
  • 88:28 - 88:29
    and then save warp out.
  • 88:32 - 88:33
    Okay.
  • 88:33 - 88:35
The reason I have to save warp there
  • 88:35 - 88:37
    is because otherwise I'd be
    completely stuck in the room.
  • 88:39 - 88:40
    That would be bad.
  • 88:42 - 88:44
So now I'm gonna go back to the boss room.
  • 88:44 - 88:45
I'm gonna do that trick again,
  • 88:45 - 88:46
and hopefully this time I'll get it.
  • 88:46 - 88:49
Like I said, it's not an easy trick.
  • 88:49 - 88:51
I made it look really easy the first time,
  • 88:51 - 88:53
    but the positioning is precise,
  • 88:53 - 88:54
    it's a one-frame window.
  • 88:54 - 88:57
You also have to pause on the
item menu at the proper timing,
  • 88:57 - 89:00
and it's just kind of a brutal trick.
  • 89:00 - 89:02
And you have to do a lot of 'em in the run.
  • 89:02 - 89:04
    It's something that definitely discourages
  • 89:04 - 89:07
a lot of newer runners from playing the game
  • 89:07 - 89:10
because it's really used so often,
  • 89:10 - 89:13
so it's kind of bad that you have to do it,
  • 89:13 - 89:16
but it does some really neat stuff.
  • 89:16 - 89:17
    Okay.
  • 89:18 - 89:19
    Good, this should work.
  • 89:19 - 89:20
    Okay.
  • 89:21 - 89:22
    Okay!
  • 89:22 - 89:26
So, like I said, it's gonna work
like the Forest Temple one I did earlier,
  • 89:26 - 89:28
but it's gonna do something very different.
  • 89:30 - 89:31
    Okay.
  • 89:31 - 89:34
So this is gonna take me to Temple of Time,
  • 89:34 - 89:36
    but I'm watching a cutscene.
  • 89:38 - 89:39
    - And the medallions are on the floor.
  • 89:39 - 89:41
    - And the medallions are on the floor, you know.
  • 89:41 - 89:43
The little details, they don't matter as much.
  • 89:43 - 89:44
    Don't worry about those.
  • 89:45 - 89:47
So as I was saying before,
  • 89:47 - 89:50
normally we wouldn't really have any use
  • 89:50 - 89:54
for skipping the Door of Time a second time,
  • 89:54 - 89:56
but because of what I messed up--
  • 89:56 - 89:57
Wait, didn't I beat the Forest Temple?
  • 89:57 - 89:59
    - She's not there right now.
  • 89:59 - 90:00
    - Oh! Oh, I--
  • 90:00 - 90:01
    Haha, I need to leave.
  • 90:01 - 90:02
    Okay, that's something weird.
  • 90:03 - 90:05
    Sometimes cutscenes don't load.
  • 90:05 - 90:07
Or actually, I'm in a different map entirely,
  • 90:07 - 90:07
    aren't I?
    - Yeah, you are.
  • 90:07 - 90:09
    - I'm in a completely different map.
  • 90:09 - 90:10
    I didn't think about that.
  • 90:11 - 90:13
So that's not actually the real Temple of Time.
  • 90:13 - 90:15
    It's like a fake one.
  • 90:15 - 90:17
But the door's still open, so that's great.
  • 90:20 - 90:22
Okay, so the reason I had to come back here...
  • 90:23 - 90:25
It probably would've been a little bit faster
  • 90:25 - 90:26
to improvise a slightly different route,
  • 90:26 - 90:29
but I wanted to do this one because
  • 90:29 - 90:31
    it's really cool.
  • 90:31 - 90:35
    So this cutscene isn't one
that you see in speedruns very often,
  • 90:36 - 90:40
but it's gonna do something for us that's really cool.
  • 90:40 - 90:43
In Ocarina of Time 3D, they added a boss rush mode
  • 90:43 - 90:45
where you can go back to Link's house
  • 90:45 - 90:48
in Kokiri Forest and fight all the bosses again.
  • 90:49 - 90:51
    And so,
  • 90:51 - 90:54
    there's something really weird
    about that boss rush.
  • 90:54 - 90:56
And the reason I'm bringing it up
  • 90:56 - 90:58
is because this song, this cutscene right here,
  • 90:58 - 91:01
    it's the thing that unlocks
the boss rush in Link's house.
  • 91:02 - 91:04
    And so basically,
  • 91:06 - 91:08
    when Grezzo made this game,
  • 91:08 - 91:09
I guess they didn't know how
  • 91:09 - 91:12
to program in loading zones or whatever,
  • 91:12 - 91:14
and so they kind of just did their own thing,
  • 91:14 - 91:18
and so since they added something completely new
  • 91:18 - 91:20
to the game, it acts very differently
  • 91:20 - 91:23
from anything else that you see
within the code of the game.
  • 91:24 - 91:27
And so I'm gonna go back to Link's house right now,
  • 91:27 - 91:30
now that I have the boss gauntlet unlocked.
  • 91:30 - 91:32
    And luckily, I have...
  • 91:33 - 91:33
    Oh.
  • 91:34 - 91:35
    Minuet of Forest.
  • 91:35 - 91:35
So I'm gonna go back there and
    Minuet of Forest.
  • 91:35 - 91:38
So I'm gonna go back there and
  • 91:40 - 91:42
I'm gonna play the boss rush,
  • 91:42 - 91:43
    which seems really weird,
  • 91:43 - 91:46
but there's actually something very interesting
  • 91:46 - 91:48
that we can do with it,
and you'll see in a minute.
  • 91:48 - 91:50
    It's really, really cool.
  • 91:53 - 91:55
So this is a good time for donations
  • 91:55 - 91:57
    as I'm trekking along.
  • 91:59 - 92:02
    - Well, we've got plenty of donations to read.
  • 92:02 - 92:05
I wanna point out that we've met the donation incentive
  • 92:05 - 92:09
for Borderlands 2, the glitch exhibition.
  • 92:09 - 92:13
And we're only $500 away from helping out Face McShooty.
  • 92:13 - 92:15
    (audience claps)
    (lone audience member whoops)
  • 92:18 - 92:21
You've got maybe half an hour
    to get those donations in
  • 92:21 - 92:23
so that we can all help Face McShooty.
  • 92:25 - 92:27
We have a $300 donation from Kari.
  • 92:27 - 92:31
"Hello from Final Fantasy XIV's Cactuar server.
  • 92:31 - 92:33
"We're all loving AGDQ so far.
  • 92:33 - 92:35
"Shout outs to decka and popple,
  • 92:35 - 92:37
    "and save those animals."
  • 92:37 - 92:40
If we must, Kari, if we must.
  • 92:41 - 92:43
    - Okay, so now that I'm in here,
  • 92:43 - 92:44
you can go to Link's bed
  • 92:44 - 92:45
    and do Relive a battle.
  • 92:45 - 92:47
It's gonna open up a menu right here,
  • 92:47 - 92:49
but the thing is, when you load back into the game,
  • 92:49 - 92:51
if you put Farore's Wind here
  • 92:51 - 92:53
    using the Restricted Items glitch...
  • 92:53 - 92:54
    - You have no magic.
  • 92:54 - 92:56
    - Oh, I don't have any magic. Okay.
  • 92:56 - 92:58
    - Dispel the warp point.
  • 92:58 - 92:59
    You have a--
  • 92:59 - 93:01
    - Okay, yeah, dispel the warp point.
  • 93:01 - 93:02
    Sleep in the bed.
  • 93:02 - 93:04
See, I got this. I know what I'm doing.
  • 93:04 - 93:05
    Whoops.
  • 93:05 - 93:06
Okay, so that refiles my magic.
  • 93:06 - 93:07
    Incredibly convenient.
  • 93:07 - 93:09
So, I'll go back into the boss rush,
  • 93:09 - 93:11
and now I'll set Farore's Wind.
  • 93:14 - 93:16
Again, this trick I'm doing here
  • 93:16 - 93:17
    where I set Farore's Wind,
  • 93:17 - 93:18
    it's a frame-perfect trick, and--
  • 93:18 - 93:20
Oh, something else I haven't brought up,
  • 93:21 - 93:26
Ocarina of Time 3D, it runs at 30 frames per second,
  • 93:26 - 93:29
which is, the original Ocarina of Time
  • 93:29 - 93:31
runs at 20 frames per second,
  • 93:31 - 93:32
    and so a frame-perfect trick
  • 93:32 - 93:35
is a whole 'nother ball game in this game.
  • 93:35 - 93:36
    It's significantly harder.
  • 93:36 - 93:39
You have way less time to do so.
  • 93:39 - 93:41
Frame-perfect tricks really aren't all that difficult
  • 93:41 - 93:44
    in N64 Ocarina of Time.
  • 93:44 - 93:47
    It sounds like it.
    You're like, "Wow, 1/20 of a second."
  • 93:47 - 93:50
You know, that sounds like not very much time,
  • 93:50 - 93:52
but the human eye is actually,
  • 93:52 - 93:55
and muscle memory, is actually very much capable
  • 93:55 - 93:58
of picking out a single frame.
  • 93:58 - 94:00
Majora's Mask does a trick, actually,
  • 94:00 - 94:04
where they have to hit the pause button
  • 94:04 - 94:07
on a single frame and it's kind of dumb,
  • 94:07 - 94:10
but people have gotten really good at it.
  • 94:10 - 94:12
But 30 frames per second, that's...
  • 94:12 - 94:14
    It's a very different thing.
  • 94:16 - 94:17
If you've noticed, I'm back in Forest Temple.
  • 94:17 - 94:19
That may seem odd, but I'm about to do
  • 94:19 - 94:23
probably one of the most insane things
  • 94:23 - 94:25
that has happened in this game ever.
  • 94:25 - 94:27
    And it's really cool.
  • 94:27 - 94:30
So I'm gonna go back to the boss room,
if I can get this trick.
  • 94:30 - 94:31
    Come on.
  • 94:31 - 94:32
    Come on!
  • 94:33 - 94:34
    Come on.
  • 94:34 - 94:36
This is kind of finnicky. Okay.
  • 94:36 - 94:38
I'm gonna go back to the boss room
  • 94:39 - 94:42
and I'm gonna do that Farore's Wind trick again.
  • 94:42 - 94:46
But this time, there's kind of a catch to it so...
  • 94:46 - 94:48
This is really hard, by the way.
  • 94:48 - 94:49
It might take me a few tries.
  • 94:50 - 94:51
    Okay.
  • 94:52 - 94:53
All right, got the first part.
  • 94:53 - 94:55
Wait, I might not be close enough.
  • 94:55 - 94:56
    Haha.
  • 94:56 - 94:58
Sometimes that happens, I don't know.
  • 94:58 - 95:00
    That setup is really consistent,
  • 95:00 - 95:01
    but sometimes it doesn't work.
  • 95:02 - 95:03
    Okay.
  • 95:04 - 95:06
All right, got the first part.
I might not be close enough again.
  • 95:07 - 95:08
    All right good.
  • 95:08 - 95:10
So now I have one have frame
  • 95:10 - 95:11
    to return Farore's Wind,
  • 95:11 - 95:12
so hopefully I can get this frame.
  • 95:12 - 95:16
    One, two, three, four, five.
  • 95:16 - 95:17
I need to buffer one frame.
  • 95:19 - 95:21
    Oh my! Yes.
  • 95:21 - 95:22
    - Nice.
  • 95:22 - 95:24
    - Oh my goodness, that feels so good.
  • 95:24 - 95:26
    (audience clapping)
  • 95:26 - 95:27
    Woo!
  • 95:30 - 95:32
    Okay, so before this run,
  • 95:32 - 95:34
I was practicing that trick for like three hours
  • 95:35 - 95:37
and I was not getting very good consistency.
  • 95:37 - 95:39
I was so nervous about doing that.
  • 95:41 - 95:44
    So you're probably wondering
    what's going on right now.
  • 95:46 - 95:47
And it's good because I have a lot of time
  • 95:47 - 95:49
    to explain what's going on.
  • 95:49 - 95:53
Link is gonna fall out of bounds 14 times.
    He's gonna void out.
  • 95:53 - 95:55
Now, you're probably wondering, why 14?
  • 95:55 - 95:58
What happened was is I just wrong warped
  • 95:58 - 96:00
    into the title screen, so...
  • 96:00 - 96:02
    (audience laughing)
  • 96:02 - 96:04
Let me try and wrap your head around this.
  • 96:04 - 96:06
    You know that opening cinematic?
  • 96:06 - 96:07
You know that really iconic one,
  • 96:07 - 96:08
where it's like the song plays,
  • 96:08 - 96:10
and Link rides by on Epona,
  • 96:10 - 96:11
and it's like the first time you booted up
  • 96:11 - 96:12
the game as a kid, you're like,
  • 96:12 - 96:13
    "Wow, this is so cool."
  • 96:13 - 96:15
Well, we're in that right now, we're playing--
  • 96:15 - 96:17
Oh, I jump slashed. Whoops. (chuckles)
  • 96:17 - 96:18
we're playing in that right now,
  • 96:18 - 96:20
    and there's something really interesting
  • 96:20 - 96:23
    about this state of game.
  • 96:24 - 96:26
So, you know how you have like the file select?
  • 96:26 - 96:27
There's file one, there's file two,
  • 96:27 - 96:29
    there's file three, okay.
  • 96:29 - 96:32
Well, there's actually another file in the game,
  • 96:32 - 96:33
    completely already made up.
  • 96:33 - 96:35
    It's called the debug file,
  • 96:35 - 96:38
and that's what the cutscene during the title screen
  • 96:38 - 96:40
is playing, it's playing this debug file.
  • 96:40 - 96:44
Now, this debug file has all of the items.
  • 96:44 - 96:48
It has 14 hearts, it has all the medallions,
  • 96:48 - 96:52
and it's just weird, so now I have
every single item in the game,
  • 96:53 - 96:57
and I have eight keys in every single dungeon,
  • 96:57 - 97:00
I have all of the boss keys, I have all the maps.
  • 97:01 - 97:03
    It's just crazy, okay?
  • 97:03 - 97:05
So the reason I need to fall so many times
  • 97:05 - 97:08
is because having 14 hearts is really great,
  • 97:08 - 97:14
but I need to die here because I can't pause the game
  • 97:14 - 97:15
with the Start or Select button.
  • 97:15 - 97:17
I have to wait until I die,
  • 97:17 - 97:20
and then I can do something
    called zombie walking, where...
  • 97:20 - 97:24
    Basically, when you're dead
and you spawn out of bounds,
  • 97:25 - 97:27
you can roll and side hop and backflip,
  • 97:27 - 97:28
and so I'm gonna do that.
  • 97:28 - 97:30
There's some water in front of me.
  • 97:30 - 97:31
This is the last one, by the way.
  • 97:31 - 97:33
There's some water in front of me.
  • 97:33 - 97:34
I'm gonna roll into the water.
  • 97:34 - 97:36
When I hit the water, I'm gonna die.
  • 97:36 - 97:37
    I'm gonna save the game,
  • 97:37 - 97:39
and then I will have saved the debug file
  • 97:39 - 97:41
    onto the first file.
  • 97:43 - 97:45
    A little confusing, I know,
  • 97:45 - 97:47
    but it's pretty cool.
  • 97:47 - 97:51
So this was actually found by TheWayfaringFox,
  • 97:51 - 97:53
who's sittin' right behind me on the couch.
  • 97:54 - 97:56
I don't know how he comes up with this stuff.
  • 97:56 - 97:58
    (audience claps)
  • 97:58 - 98:00
Hey look, we were just there!
  • 98:01 - 98:04
So as you can see, my file
    looks pretty weird right now.
  • 98:05 - 98:06
    Okay.
  • 98:07 - 98:09
So now we're gonna beat the rest of the dungeons
  • 98:09 - 98:10
now that we have all the items.
  • 98:10 - 98:12
    (audience laughs)
  • 98:13 - 98:16
Wow, I am so glad that that trick happened first try.
  • 98:16 - 98:19
That is definitely one of the hardest things
  • 98:19 - 98:20
    to happen in this game.
  • 98:20 - 98:23
    And I've talked about the
    home buffering method right there,
  • 98:24 - 98:27
but I didn't really get into the severity of it.
  • 98:29 - 98:31
Home buffering's really bad in this game.
  • 98:31 - 98:34
I only do it because it gives you a marginal chance
  • 98:34 - 98:38
    of basically saving frame-perfect tricks.
  • 98:38 - 98:40
Right there, when I did the trick,
  • 98:40 - 98:42
    I was one frame early,
  • 98:42 - 98:44
and basically when you're one frame early
  • 98:44 - 98:49
and you have to buffer a one-frame input,
    it's almost impossible.
  • 98:49 - 98:51
It rarely ever happens, but I managed to do it.
  • 98:51 - 98:55
I managed to save it somehow
    by the grace of God.
  • 98:56 - 98:58
Something else I should mention there:
  • 98:58 - 99:02
    all of the cutscenes that
I had previously watched are back,
  • 99:02 - 99:05
that's why the Moblin cutscene played there again.
  • 99:06 - 99:09
But also, the Minuet of Forest was back again,
  • 99:09 - 99:10
but I actually skipped the cutscene
  • 99:10 - 99:12
because playing the Minuet of Forest
  • 99:12 - 99:14
skips the Minuet of Forest cutscene by chance.
  • 99:16 - 99:18
That's because when you load into the area,
  • 99:18 - 99:21
the warp song, like the cutscene of you
  • 99:21 - 99:22
floating in on the particles or whatever,
  • 99:22 - 99:26
    it somehow takes priority,
and so the cutscene tries to play,
  • 99:26 - 99:29
    but it gets shut down.
  • 99:29 - 99:32
Okay, so as you could see,
I have a ton of items now.
  • 99:33 - 99:35
It makes the latter dungeons way easier.
  • 99:35 - 99:38
Okay, so remember how I accidentally gave you...
  • 99:38 - 99:40
You probably don't, but if you do,
  • 99:40 - 99:43
I gave you a little spoiler early on in the run
  • 99:43 - 99:45
that we're gonna be doing Deku Tree as adult.
  • 99:45 - 99:47
And that's what's about to happen.
  • 99:47 - 99:50
I also set Farore's Wind in Lost Woods.
  • 99:51 - 99:53
Just like setting Farore's Wind in Temple of Time,
  • 99:53 - 99:56
seems a little weird, but it has its reasons.
  • 99:56 - 100:00
Okay, so this is another frame-perfect trick.
  • 100:00 - 100:03
It's actually two frames, but it's frame perfect.
  • 100:03 - 100:05
Hard to explain, but there's different ways
  • 100:05 - 100:08
you can buffer inputs to make
    some two-frame tricks one frame.
  • 100:08 - 100:10
    That's called a hover slide.
  • 100:10 - 100:12
It lets you cover really big distances.
  • 100:12 - 100:15
Normally, I'm not able to walk here,
  • 100:16 - 100:20
but since I do, I can jump over
the loading trigger for the Deku Tree.
  • 100:20 - 100:24
And so, because of that, his mouth is usually closed,
  • 100:24 - 100:27
but it's just nonexistent when the area's unloaded,
  • 100:27 - 100:28
so you can just backwalk in.
  • 100:29 - 100:32
    (audience clapping)
  • 100:36 - 100:38
This is also a longer dungeon.
  • 100:40 - 100:42
Let's count how many rooms it is.
  • 100:42 - 100:44
    (audience laughs)
  • 100:45 - 100:46
    Okay, that was one.
  • 100:51 - 100:53
    And this is two.
  • 100:53 - 100:55
    (audience laughing)
  • 101:00 - 101:02
I thought we had enough falling.
  • 101:03 - 101:05
    And we're in the boss.
  • 101:05 - 101:07
    (audience clapping)
  • 101:13 - 101:16
I feel so bad for Link.
  • 101:16 - 101:17
    That's gotta be horrifying.
  • 101:19 - 101:22
Okay, Aaron told me not to fail this,
  • 101:22 - 101:24
so I better not fail this.
  • 101:25 - 101:28
Basically, Deku Nuts don't stun Gohma for very long
  • 101:28 - 101:30
so I don't have much time.
  • 101:32 - 101:33
    Okay, good.
  • 101:33 - 101:35
    (audience clapping)
  • 101:38 - 101:39
    That's really not hard,
  • 101:39 - 101:43
but I managed to mess it up a lot. (chuckles)
  • 101:43 - 101:44
    Okay.
  • 101:45 - 101:47
    Hey look, another blue warp.
    Guess what we're gonna do.
  • 101:47 - 101:49
    (audience laughing)
  • 101:50 - 101:51
    Okay.
  • 101:56 - 101:58
Oh, I missed it. All right.
  • 101:58 - 101:59
    That sucks.
  • 101:59 - 102:00
    I did save, right?
  • 102:00 - 102:01
    - Yeah, you did good.
    - Okay. (exclaims in relief)
  • 102:01 - 102:03
    (audience laughing)
  • 102:03 - 102:04
    Sometimes I forget.
  • 102:06 - 102:07
That only wastes about a minute,
  • 102:07 - 102:10
and plus, we get to see Link fall some more.
  • 102:10 - 102:11
    Poor guy.
  • 102:11 - 102:13
So we gotta make our way back to the boss room
  • 102:13 - 102:14
    and do that again.
  • 102:14 - 102:17
Again, this trick is really hard.
  • 102:18 - 102:21
Just to give you the scope of how difficult it is,
  • 102:21 - 102:24
the position in which you stand
  • 102:24 - 102:29
    is pretty not lenient because
  • 102:30 - 102:32
you need to be right on the edge of the warp
  • 102:32 - 102:35
when you side hop, and other than that,
  • 102:35 - 102:39
pausing for the item menu is not too precise,
  • 102:39 - 102:43
    but it's definitely not trivial.
  • 102:43 - 102:46
And then the actual glitch is frame-perfect,
  • 102:46 - 102:48
    so you know.
  • 102:48 - 102:52
It's by no means a free trick.
  • 102:52 - 102:53
    This is very difficult.
  • 102:56 - 102:58
All right, let's go for it again.
  • 102:59 - 103:00
    All right.
  • 103:02 - 103:04
If I'm close enough, this will work.
  • 103:06 - 103:07
    I'm not close enough, okay.
  • 103:11 - 103:13
If I'm close enough, this will work.
  • 103:13 - 103:15
I should be close enough this time.
  • 103:15 - 103:16
    Okay, good.
  • 103:16 - 103:17
    All right.
  • 103:17 - 103:19
Just like the Fire Temple warp,
  • 103:19 - 103:21
this one's gonna do something pretty weird.
  • 103:21 - 103:24
It's gonna take us to the Desert Colossus.
  • 103:24 - 103:26
    So now we're here.
  • 103:26 - 103:29
Guess which dungeon we're gonna be doing next.
  • 103:29 - 103:30
    - Water!
  • 103:30 - 103:32
I heard Water. That's not right.
  • 103:32 - 103:34
    (audience laughs)
  • 103:34 - 103:36
You need to go back and play this game
  • 103:36 - 103:39
'cause this is not the Water Temple.
  • 103:39 - 103:41
Next dungeon we're gonna do is Spirit Temple.
  • 103:43 - 103:46
And well, we already have a pretty good start.
  • 103:46 - 103:48
You know, we're at the Silver Gauntlet so...
  • 103:48 - 103:52
I mean, (chuckles) it's funny because...
  • 103:52 - 103:53
    I was talking about earlier,
  • 103:53 - 103:55
about how we have to get the Goron bracelet
  • 103:55 - 103:58
and how there's no way to skip it.
  • 103:58 - 104:00
When you wrong warp into the debug file
  • 104:00 - 104:02
it gives you the Goron bracelet,
  • 104:02 - 104:04
which is this huge slap in the face.
  • 104:04 - 104:05
    I hate it so much.
  • 104:05 - 104:07
So we could pick up the silver gauntlets,

    Okay.

  • 114:22 - 114:25

  • 114:25 - 114:26
    - It only has the hookshot actually,
  • 114:26 - 114:28
    which is kind of weird.
  • 114:29 - 114:31
    There's this other category...
  • 114:31 - 114:32
Basically, the thing I'm really good at in this game
  • 114:32 - 114:36
is I love 100%, that's like my favorite thing,
  • 114:36 - 114:37
    and there's this new category
  • 114:37 - 114:41
that kind of sprung up called Glitched 100%.
  • 114:41 - 114:43
And the definition for 100% is you have to get
  • 114:43 - 114:45
all of the items from where you're normally
  • 114:45 - 114:48
supposed to get them from, but Glitched 100%,
  • 114:48 - 114:50
you can get them any way possible
  • 114:50 - 114:51
as long as you fill the inventory.
  • 114:51 - 114:54
And in Glitched 100%, we go to the debug file,
  • 114:54 - 114:56
so the only item we actually have to get
  • 114:56 - 114:57
    is the longshot or something,
  • 114:57 - 114:59
    as far as collectibles go.
  • 115:01 - 115:03
Nice! All right, this should work.
  • 115:06 - 115:09
Okay, so that is probably the last thing
  • 115:09 - 115:11
in this run that can actually screw me over
  • 115:11 - 115:13
so that's really nice to know that I got that.
  • 115:13 - 115:15
    Okay, there's the Water Temple.
  • 115:15 - 115:17
    (audience clapping)
  • 115:19 - 115:21
Again, that trick is not easy.
  • 115:21 - 115:23
That's really hard, so I'm glad
  • 115:23 - 115:26
I didn't really mess 'em up too much in this run,
  • 115:26 - 115:28
but that's the last one of those we're gonna be doing.
  • 115:28 - 115:29
    Is it night time?
  • 115:30 - 115:32
Yes, it is so I have to kill
    this Skulltula thing.
  • 115:32 - 115:33
    Okay.
  • 115:34 - 115:36
So we've already beaten the Deku Tree
  • 115:36 - 115:36
    but we're gonna go back
  • 115:36 - 115:41
because we wanna make Link fall
    and suffer some more
  • 115:42 - 115:43
    'cause we're horrible people.
  • 115:48 - 115:51
    So we're just gonna do
the exact same thing we did earlier.
  • 115:54 - 115:57
Okay, nice. So this is the first frame.
  • 115:57 - 115:59
What I was talking about earlier about, there's...
  • 115:59 - 116:01
Oh wow. Okay, I kind of messed that up.
  • 116:01 - 116:02
What I was talking about earlier
  • 116:02 - 116:04
    when I said it's a frame-perfect trick
  • 116:04 - 116:05
    but it's actually two frames,
  • 116:05 - 116:09
it's because you can use the touch screen
  • 116:09 - 116:13
to use items, so instead of hitting the Y button,
  • 116:13 - 116:18
I can just use the touch screen to do it.
  • 116:19 - 116:20
    Oh, got hit.
  • 116:20 - 116:23
That actually delays the action in the item one frame,
  • 116:23 - 116:25
and so if you're a frame early,
  • 116:25 - 116:28
you can do that to make one frame tricks two frames.
  • 116:28 - 116:29
    Okay, this works.
  • 116:29 - 116:30
    Woo.
  • 116:39 - 116:42
Okay, so now we're gonna go
    back inside the Deku Tree.
  • 116:42 - 116:45
And we're pretty much just gonna do
the exact same thing we did earlier
  • 116:45 - 116:49
where we get out of bounds,
    make Link fall a bunch.
  • 116:49 - 116:50
Oh okay, I thought I fell there.
  • 116:50 - 116:51
    Whoops.
  • 116:51 - 116:55
Where the door to the Deku Tree is,
    there's like a little gap.
  • 116:58 - 116:59
    Okay, wee!
  • 117:05 - 117:06
    Okay.
  • 117:09 - 117:12
This hookshot jump is kind of tricky.
  • 117:12 - 117:14
Sometimes it doesn't work too well.
  • 117:14 - 117:16
    Okay, that wasn't too bad.
  • 117:16 - 117:19
The first two were really good,
    I got 'em really fast.
  • 117:19 - 117:22
This one's a little, took me a little bit longer.
  • 117:24 - 117:26
    Wow, I was worried I wasn't
gonna hit the loading zone there.
  • 117:26 - 117:28
Funny thing about loading zones in this game
  • 117:28 - 117:31
is they actually extend infinitely upwards,
  • 117:31 - 117:34
so as long as you're above a loading zone,
  • 117:34 - 117:37
you'll hit it as long as there's not
something else about the loading zone.
  • 117:39 - 117:41
Oh wait, why am I saving? What am I doing?
  • 117:41 - 117:42
    Okay.
  • 117:43 - 117:45
    Like I said before,
  • 117:45 - 117:46
as I said in the beginning of the run,
  • 117:47 - 117:49
    Farore's Wind is so broken.
  • 117:49 - 117:51
    It's really, really good.
  • 117:51 - 117:54
So I'm gonna put Farore's Wind
in the Deku Tree boss room
  • 117:54 - 117:58
and we're gonna do something cool with it again.
  • 117:58 - 118:00
We did something earlier in the run
  • 118:00 - 118:03
where we did what was known
as a Death Hole Wrong Warp,
  • 118:03 - 118:06
and here we're gonna do the same thing.
  • 118:08 - 118:10
    Oh, the Cucco hatched.
  • 118:10 - 118:11
    I didn't know I had that.
  • 118:12 - 118:15
Okay, I'm gonna kill this Guay,
'cause he can get in my way.
  • 118:18 - 118:21
Okay, we're gonna move this grave,
  • 118:21 - 118:23
and there's actually a grotto right here.
  • 118:25 - 118:26
    Okay.
  • 118:28 - 118:30
Once again, I'm gonna do Death Hole Wrong Warping,
  • 118:30 - 118:33
which, as I said before, it tries to load the grotto
  • 118:33 - 118:35
and the title screen at the exact same time,
  • 118:35 - 118:39
and that puts us in play on the title screen
  • 118:39 - 118:40
on the file that we're using.
  • 118:40 - 118:43
And so, we can use Farore's wind in here
  • 118:44 - 118:46
    and...
  • 118:46 - 118:48
Well, we only have one dungeon left to beat so...
  • 118:49 - 118:51
It takes us to Shadow Temple.
  • 118:51 - 118:53
    (audience laughs)
  • 118:53 - 118:55
And yeah, we're just gonna beat the dungeon.
  • 118:57 - 119:00
I said it before, but it's really important here.
  • 119:00 - 119:02
I can only use the items that I have
  • 119:02 - 119:04
on my X and Y buttons, and currently,
  • 119:04 - 119:06
those are bombs and Farore's Wind.
  • 119:06 - 119:07
And I can also use my sword,
  • 119:07 - 119:09
so we're gonna have to fight Bongo
  • 119:09 - 119:12
using just bombs, Farore's Wind, and my sword.
  • 119:12 - 119:13
    And it's a little scary
  • 119:13 - 119:14
because I only have three hearts right now,
  • 119:14 - 119:17
and some of his attacks definitely
    do more than three hearts,
  • 119:17 - 119:20
so I have to be very careful right now.
  • 119:26 - 119:28
    Oh wow, that was close.
  • 119:29 - 119:30
That is definitely his scariest attack.
  • 119:30 - 119:32
I don't like when he does that one.
  • 119:33 - 119:34
    Okay.
  • 119:41 - 119:42
    Oh, I missed. All right.
  • 119:42 - 119:44
So if you attack him with just the right timing,
  • 119:44 - 119:46
you can actually prevent him from getting up.
  • 119:46 - 119:50
I messed it up there, so hopefully
he doesn't give me scary attacks again.
  • 119:50 - 119:51
    Oh wow, nice.
  • 119:52 - 119:54
He's giving me scary attacks, dude.
  • 119:54 - 119:55
    Please.
  • 120:02 - 120:03
    Okay.
    - Nice.
  • 120:03 - 120:04
    - Woo. Glad that's over.
  • 120:04 - 120:07
    (audience clapping)
  • 120:10 - 120:13
Okay, so now all that we have left to do
  • 120:13 - 120:14
    is to beat the game.
  • 120:17 - 120:19
    Yeah.
  • 120:19 - 120:20
    You'll see, don't worry.
  • 120:24 - 120:25
    Okay.
  • 120:28 - 120:31
So probably running a bit more behind on time
  • 120:31 - 120:34
than I would have liked because of the route mistake
  • 120:34 - 120:35
I made a bit early in the run.
  • 120:35 - 120:38
I think I made up for it about as best as I could
  • 120:38 - 120:41
and still showing off how cool this route is.
  • 120:44 - 120:46
    Honestly, besides that routing error
  • 120:46 - 120:48
    this has been really good.
  • 120:48 - 120:50
So it's probably closer to estimate
  • 120:50 - 120:52
than I would have liked, but yeah.
  • 120:52 - 120:54
    It's probably cutting close.
  • 120:54 - 120:56
So now I'm in Forest Temple, you know,
  • 120:56 - 120:59
    just, Link gets around.
  • 120:59 - 121:01
So I'm doing a frame-perfect glitch, got the frame.
  • 121:04 - 121:05
    It's called Ocarina Items.
  • 121:05 - 121:06
Basically, if you use an item
  • 121:06 - 121:09
    like Farore's Wind, Din's Fire,
  • 121:09 - 121:11
a bottled item, on a certain frame
  • 121:11 - 121:13
that a bomb explodes while in your hand,
  • 121:13 - 121:14
you can pull out the Ocarina.
  • 121:14 - 121:16
And I played Nocturne of Shadow
  • 121:16 - 121:19
and now I'm at the end of the game, so that's great.
  • 121:19 - 121:20
    (audience laughs)
    Woo!
  • 121:21 - 121:23
    So yeah, there's Zelda.
  • 121:23 - 121:25
    Hey, where you been? (chuckles)
    Long time no see.
  • 121:25 - 121:28
    Actually, I've never seen you
except for the beginning of the game.
  • 121:30 - 121:32
I don't know how she got here,
    but, you know, whatever.
  • 121:36 - 121:41
And that's pretty much just really, really convenient
  • 121:41 - 121:43
that Nocturne of Shadow just happens
  • 121:43 - 121:44
to take you to this exact spot.
  • 121:44 - 121:47
I was talking when I did the Door of Time Skip
  • 121:47 - 121:52
on how the cutscene of the Temple of Time
  • 121:52 - 121:54
    canceled Death Hole glitch.
  • 121:54 - 121:57
Well, that's the exact same thing
that happens with the Nocturne of Shadow.
  • 121:57 - 121:59
When you play the song, it actually cancels
  • 121:59 - 122:01
the Death Hole Wrong Warp glitch,
  • 122:01 - 122:03
and so when we enter that loading zone,
  • 122:03 - 122:05
it takes us exactly where we're supposed to go,
  • 122:05 - 122:09
which like, it's like a miracle that it works out.
  • 122:09 - 122:11
    It's so convenient, it's crazy.
  • 122:11 - 122:15
So, it's just so cool that it works.
  • 122:17 - 122:18
    Yeah, other than that,
  • 122:18 - 122:20
that's pretty much been Ocarina of Time 3D.
  • 122:20 - 122:23
    This game is so crazy.
  • 122:23 - 122:25
We have one more glitch to do, though.
  • 122:26 - 122:29
Basically, Ganon, he knocks the Master Sword
  • 122:29 - 122:31
out of Link's hand, but we can actually prevent that.
  • 122:31 - 122:34
On N64, it's done with a super slide,
  • 122:34 - 122:36
but there's another way to do it.
  • 122:36 - 122:38
    We're gonna interrupt Link's animation
  • 122:38 - 122:40
of getting the sword knocked out of his hand
  • 122:40 - 122:43
by using Din's Fire as soon as we enter the cutscene
  • 122:43 - 122:45
    of Ganon clearing the rubble.
  • 122:46 - 122:48
It's kind of precise, hopefully I get it.
  • 122:48 - 122:50
It's kind of funny when you do get it
  • 122:50 - 122:51
'cause Link kind of stand there like,
  • 122:51 - 122:53
    "Dude, I don't care.
  • 122:53 - 122:55
    "Wassup? Come at me, brah."
  • 122:55 - 122:57
    So, hopefully I get it,
  • 122:57 - 122:58
    but it saves about...
  • 123:00 - 123:01
    probably 40 to 30 seconds
  • 123:01 - 123:02
because the Master Sword is the only item
    probably 40 to 30 seconds
  • 123:02 - 123:06
because the Master Sword is the only item
  • 123:06 - 123:08
that does the amount of damage
  • 123:08 - 123:10
that it's supposed to do on Ganon.
  • 123:10 - 123:13
Every other item does one damage,
  • 123:13 - 123:16
    while Master Sword still keeps
    its original damage values.
  • 123:16 - 123:18
Okay, so gonna line up here.
  • 123:21 - 123:23
    Nice, got it!
    - Nice.
  • 123:23 - 123:25
    (audience claps)
  • 123:28 - 123:30
    - So this cutscene's gonna look a little weird
  • 123:30 - 123:32
    'cause Link's just...
  • 123:32 - 123:34
Just look at Link's face here
when he gets the Master Sword
  • 123:34 - 123:35
    knocked out of his hand.
  • 123:35 - 123:37
    He's just like, "Dude, I don't care.
  • 123:37 - 123:40
"I have died like five times this run.
  • 123:40 - 123:42
"I've been warped all over the place.
  • 123:42 - 123:44
    "You got nothing on me."
  • 123:44 - 123:46
    (all laughing)
  • 123:47 - 123:49
It's so good, I love that.
  • 123:54 - 123:56
It's worth mentioning that I also
  • 123:56 - 123:58
picked up the heart container after Bongo Bongo
  • 123:58 - 124:01
because otherwise, I wouldn't have much health here.
  • 124:01 - 124:02
    Yeah. (laughs)
  • 124:04 - 124:06
    so, although the Master Sword
  • 124:06 - 124:08
totally got knocked out of my hand right there,
  • 124:08 - 124:10
you all saw it, I'm sure,
  • 124:10 - 124:12
    I somehow still have it.
  • 124:14 - 124:16
And so I can do the exact amount of damage
  • 124:16 - 124:17
I'm supposed to do on Ganon.
  • 124:18 - 124:22
So, he's a really easy boss.
  • 124:23 - 124:24
    Nice.
  • 124:24 - 124:26
So normally, that first phase would take
  • 124:27 - 124:29
10 hits of any other item,
  • 124:29 - 124:31
but you only have to do three with Master Sword.
  • 124:31 - 124:34
Oh look, that's a really cool sword.
  • 124:34 - 124:36
    Where'd you get it?
    (audience laughing)
  • 124:36 - 124:38
I got one just like it.
  • 124:39 - 124:41
All right, so now all I have to do
  • 124:41 - 124:43
is hit Ganon five more times
    and deal the final blow.
  • 124:51 - 124:53
    What?
  • 124:53 - 124:54
    Wasn't that five?
  • 124:54 - 124:55
Am I off on the counting again?
  • 124:55 - 124:56
    - That was only four.
  • 124:56 - 124:58
    - That was only four?!
    Oh my goodness.
  • 124:59 - 125:00
    Okay.
  • 125:00 - 125:02
    Getting ready on time.
  • 125:03 - 125:04
    Cool.
  • 125:12 - 125:14
All right, all I gotta do is land the final blow.
  • 125:18 - 125:20
    Okay, time!
  • 125:20 - 125:22
    (audience cheering and clapping)
  • 125:22 - 125:23
    Woo!
  • 125:27 - 125:28
    And that, ladies and gentlemen,
  • 125:28 - 125:31
is the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
  • 125:39 - 125:40
    All right.
  • 125:40 - 125:42
    Thank you guys for watching.
  • 125:42 - 125:43
Kick cancer's butt and remember to follow me
