ELDERS REACT TO CONDOM MAKEUP?!

- (FBE) So before we show you some videos,

we want to show you something.

- (FBE) Do you know what this is?

Well, it's a piece of foamy stuff.

- Not a clue.

Stuffing for inside of something?

- At first, I thought
it was a makeup sponge.

- The only thing I could
think of is for makeup.

- Is it a blender

for makeup?

- It's a sponge for putting on makeup.

- (FBE) All right. Now we're
gonna show you some videos

where people use this
in an interesting way.

- Uh-oh. (chuckles)

- I'm curious and very worried.

- Welcome to another crazy, weird video.

It's crazy because you don't
really think you can do

more with a condom
than what it's meant for.

But I...
- Oh!

- (woman) ...more with a condom
than what it's meant for.

- "More with a condom"?
Did she say "condom"?

- (woman) But I thought,
"What an amazing, perfect way

to apply your foundation with a condom."

I know...
- Oh, I heard about this.

- (woman) "...apply your
foundation with a condom."

- Oh no. (chuckles)

- That's a great idea.

- (woman) Okay.

- They put a condom on that rubber thing.

- (woman) No way!
- No?

- (woman) You guys, what the hell?
- Just use your condom.

- I don't understand... why.

- (woman) See that? (quiet gasp)

You know when you're traveling,
you always forget something.

Always.
- (chuckles)

- (woman) So if you end up
forgetting your Beautyblender

or your face sponge

because you were gonna take
your Beautyblender and you forget it,

you guys know. You never forget
these little things right here.

So, you know, just...
- Yeah, everybody travels with condoms.

- Yeah, everybody carries those around.

- (woman) 'Cause it is bomb!

Why do you even get that idea?

- It's meant for skin contact.

- It's clever, what you do, you know,

The beauty hack of using a condom.

Yes, a condom with your Beautyblender...

- How do they come up with these things?

- (woman, singsong) Let's start this hack.

So first, you're gonna need--
shwoosh!-- some condoms.

Lucky enough, I had these
lying around the house, you know?

- Oh, I'm sure.

- (woman) ...I had these lying
around the house, you know?

(quiet chuckle)
- (laughs)

- (woman) I'm actually
gonna cut off the excess,

'cause this is really the gross part,

like that part...
- It seems like an awful lot of work.

- (woman) I'll apply it to my face

instead of dipping the Beauty...
condom sponge thing on it.

Now, let's just start dabbing
just like a Beautyblender would.

- Yeah, women are so creative.

- Isn't the point of the blender to blend?

I mean, why are you covering it up?

- (woman) That sound.
(moist rustling)

- (laughs uncontrollably)

What are you surprised about

if you're putting moisture on a condom?

- (woman) Okay, the tip
is messing up my light here.

It's, like, leaving imprints.
But the rest of it is okay.

I'm actually so impressed so far.

It is spreading the foundation nicely,

but I feel like it's honestly
just sitting on top of...

- I-- I-- I just don't see it.

I mean, to me, it doesn't fit.

- (woman) So at least the little tip here

you can get into the corners...
- That's wild.

- (woman) So far, the worst thing
about it is its sound.

Other than that...
- Yeah, it works.

But it's just so far-fetched.

- (woman) The foundation
was blended out really nicely.

There's no streakiness
or harsh lines or anything like that.

- Her face looks really great.
I'm gonna try that.

- (woman) So I'm actually
really impressed...

- Oh, that looks really nice on her.

- (woman) Give it a try. I mean, why not?

Just make sure that you're
cleaning off the condom beforehand.

- (chuckling)

Yeah, let's clean it off beforehand.

Especially if it's been
anywhere important.

- Why does it have to be a condom?

It's just to get people
to watch the videos, huh?

- Apparently now, there's a new--

a new hack in town. Okay?
- Oh dear.

- (Jessica Harlow)
There's a girl that did a video

basically using Beautyblender.

And she wrapped it in a condom.
- So one girl started this craze.

- What's wrong with the sponge?

- (Harlow) Let's get started.
- (laughs)

- This music?

- (Harlow) So so far...

- Oh goodness me.
- (Harlow) ...I definitely notice that,

yeah, obviously, it's not
absorbing a lot of product.

- Nope.

- (Harlow) And it's really applying
everything really smoothly.

- Okay.

(moist rustling)
- (Harlow) Are you listening to this?

- The sounds.

- (Harlow) You should have
to use, like, a new condom

for every use.
- But you can do it with anything rubber

over a sponge.

- (Harlow) If you do your makeup
once a day at least,

that could get pricey.
- Yes, good point.

- (Harlow) So yeah, I definitely
do recommend trying this out.

- What? I'm sure the condom companies
wouldn't appreciate that.

- This is where the younger
generation loses me, you know,

when they're coming up with this stuff.

- How clever young people are today.

- If I had one lying around,
I probably would try it.

- That's crazy. That's just--
oh, Lord, help me. (laughs)

(movie reel clicks)

- (FBE) What do you think about people
who would make videos

putting makeup on
their face with a condom?

- I'm old. I'm gonna be honest.
I think it's stupid.

- It just seems silly.

It doesn't seem like
there's any point to it

other than trying to get views.

- It's great, because I do watch--
to be honest with you,

I do go on YouTube to get ideas on makeup.

- It's clever. I think
people are always trying

to invent new ways, possibly easier ways,

or better ways of applying the makeup.

- A girl's sitting around.

I guess she hasn't gotten it in a while,

and the condoms are backing up
she keeps in the drawer, you know?

And she says, "Huh, what else
can I do with those condoms?"

- (FBE) So some of the videos showed

people end up surprised
that it seems to work so well.

- Well, it's a nice slick surface, sure.

- (FBE) And so we want
you to test it out too.

- Oh boy.

- Oh, okay!

- Oh boy.

- I got nothing to lose.

- (chuckling) Oh no.

Okay, we have to check
and see if it's clean first.

- (FBE) We have the condoms
all set and ready

for you to try to put on makeup with it.
- Oh dear.

- (FBE) You ready to try it out?
- Sure, but

did you get my color?

- (snickers)

- What do I got here? Lipstick?
No, that's not for me.

- (FBE) So this is foundation.
- Oh, foundation.

Never used it in my life.

- (FBE) So we're gonna have
a mirror available for you as well.

- Oh, lovely.

I haven't put makeup on since,
uh, doing theater many years ago.

- Now the question is,
how much do you put on here?

A little or a lot?

- (chuckling) Okay. Here we go.

- All right.

Oh. My goodness.

(chuckles) It's putting makeup on my face.

- Yuch. No, I do not care for it.

It's almost too smooth.

- That's, uh, interesting.

This one's kinda ooey-gooey.

- Feels weird.

I don't know about the rubber.

- I hate to say it, but it
really does apply nicely.

- Oh, that's good. (chuckles)

It feels like an eraser.

- It's a weird... weird feeling.

- It feels... strange going on.

- It gets kinda sticky. (cracking up)

Oh, God, my grandkids!

- Oh my god. I'm gonna tell my kids
not to watch this one.

- Hmm. It worked.

- I would like to know what
husbands and boyfriends think

when they see this.

- It'd be better off just using

a latex glove on your finger, I think.

- It does absorb it, but it pushes it
all on there right away.

It doesn't spread it real-- real well.

- I don't think I'll be
doing this at home.

And I would hate to explain
why I have, you know,

boxes of condoms.

- It works. It works very well.

I really am surprised it worked that well.

- It's much better than just
the foam thing. It really is.

- (FBE) So if you were not aware,
beauty and makeup

is one of the biggest and most
popular genres of content online,

showcasing products and teaching
people how to apply makeup.

- All right.

- Oh yes.

- Makeup stuff? Like,
all the contouring and stuff?

Yeah, I can't believe it.

- (FBE) So why do you think
that this genre

continues to grow so much?

- Because of people's
fascination to look good.

- Everybody's got their insecurities.

Most people want to look better.

- They want to learn how
to put on makeup correctly.

There was nothing like this
when I was young.

Some of the stuff that
the people do is just beautiful.

- People have shared this stuff forever.

This is just a new way of sharing.

You'd have a "sleepover,"
which I put in quotes,

'cause no one sleeps during those.

And we'd all, "Let's do our makeup."

And we'd all try different things.

And it was kind of like we had our own--

we had our own videos
right there in person.

- (FBE) So finally, back to this trend.

If you had the choice of
traditional products or condoms

to apply makeup with,
which would you choose?

- Traditional products.

- Traditional.

- I'm a traditional man all the way.

I think it's 'cause I'm older.

- I mean, if it works,
I guess. I don't know.

- Condoms with the beauty ball.

That's better than anything
I've ever used.

- I would go with
the traditional products,

because that's what
they're designed to do.

- I'll skip the condoms.

It added expense, I think,
that I just don't need.

- I will use the condom over the sponge,

because it's gonna really help me
keep a lot more sponges.

- Traditional products.

I may already have some condoms at home.

But no, they're not
gonna be used for that.
