-
Comrade Walter Ulbricht wanted to inform himself
about the accomplishments of our commercial fleet.
-
He goes to Warnemünde
and stands in the port.
-
Three ships lie there. He goes
to the first one and says:
-
"You Comrades, where are travelling to?"
-
"We are going to Cuba."
-
"Ah? What is that, that you're taking there?"
-
"Machines and vehicles."
-
"Aha. And what are you taking back from there?"
-
"Oranges."
-
"Oh! That's something good, isn't it?"
-
He moves on to the next ship.
-
"Comrades, where are you travelling to?"
-
"We are going to Angola, Comrade President."
-
"Angola? What are you taking there?"
-
"Machines and vehicles."
-
"And what are you taking back from there?"
-
"Bananas."
-
"Oh! I think that's something good, right?
That's quite right!"
-
"And where are you travelling to?",
he asks the manning of the third ship.
-
"The Soviet Union."
-
"Oh, well well! To the Soviet Union?
What are tou taking there?"
-
"Bananas and oranges."
-
Then Comrade Ulbricht still
had one last question:
-
"And what are you taking back from there?"
-
"The train."
