-
I had a conversation with my
colleague Evan earlier today,
-
that I just wanted to share
with you guys. So
-
Last week started an experiment where
-
I'm just going slower in the morning.
-
I'm doing some yoga and stretching,
some meditation, some reading,
-
some journaling and you know,
-
I previously I had set up about 50 minutes an
hour to do some of these like morning
-
morning self care type of stuff.
-
But it was still feeling pretty crammed
in and I was often skipping journaling.
-
I was usually not reading actually.
-
And then last week I
sorta did a workcation.
-
I stayed at an Airbnb out of the
city and kind of just on purpose.
-
It was like, you know,
I'm gonna rest a lot more,
-
I'm gonna sleep in a
lot more and just try to
-
catch up so to speak.
-
What I noticed was that
doing these really slow,
-
really nourishing mornings was just like,
-
it just made me feel so good for the
rest of the day to the point that I was
-
like,
-
why am I making this a special
thing that I can only do,
-
when I'm out at an Airbnb or something.
-
So I was sharing this with my
colleague Evan, and I was like,
-
I don't know if I can do
this on a regular basis.
-
I don't know if I would be available until
like 11 o'clock because I have to do
-
all this stuff, then I need to
down at my desk. Anyways,
-
he was like, what are you talking
about? First of all, Mike,
-
our other team member usually starts later
than us anyways. He doesn't need you.
-
And
-
you and I we have all these
touch points. It's all good.
-
So stop making up these reasons why
you can't just do this, you know,
-
try this thing to take
care of yourself. So
-
I don't know,
-
I just wanted to share that because I
think probably I'm not the only one who
-
is making up reasons why we can't make
our schedules and our allocation of
-
time, really work for us. So I'm
really gonna give this a shot.
-
I'm gonna really slow down
my mornings even more.
-
I had been booking just one focus
mate in the morning for self care.
-
I'm gonna do two focus made sessions
in the morning for self care starting
-
tomorrow.
-
And just do all of those things in a
really slow and spacious way to set up my day.
-
So I'll keep you
posted how that goes.
-
But just wanted to offer that story and
a little encouragement to consider what
-
you can do to make your
schedule work better for you.
