You were never made to fit the mold! #katiJT

  • 0:00 - 0:02
    Hey everybody, happy Saturday.
  • 0:02 - 0:04
    And when it's Saturday here,
  • 0:04 - 0:06
if you're new, I put out a journal topic.
  • 0:06 - 0:08
And the reason that I am so into
  • 0:08 - 0:10
journalling is that I really think
  • 0:10 - 0:12
it's good for all of us, even if
  • 0:12 - 0:14
    it's not a structured journal,
  • 0:14 - 0:15
where we're like, "I'm talking about this,
  • 0:15 - 0:17
    Dear Diary, today I went
  • 0:17 - 0:18
    to the grocery store."
  • 0:18 - 0:19
Even if it's not like a telling
  • 0:19 - 0:21
of your entire day, I think it's
  • 0:21 - 0:23
    really important to our growth
  • 0:23 - 0:25
for us to recognize what's going on
  • 0:25 - 0:27
in our head, and what we're doing,
  • 0:27 - 0:29
positive, negative, so that we can
  • 0:29 - 0:32
look back, and maybe reflect on our day,
  • 0:32 - 0:35
or our week, or our month, and then
  • 0:35 - 0:37
see things that we maybe wanna change
  • 0:37 - 0:39
or things that we've been working on
  • 0:39 - 0:40
    and we were succeeding
  • 0:40 - 0:42
so i think in a way it helps us
  • 0:42 - 0:44
kinda keep track of whats really going on
  • 0:44 - 0:46
inside so thats why i do this.
  • 0:46 - 0:48
and i hope that you like it.if you guys
  • 0:48 - 0:49
like the journal topics can you
  • 0:49 - 0:51
give it a thumbs up? because this
  • 0:51 - 0:52
isn't something that I have to keep doing
  • 0:52 - 0:54
its just something that I've always
  • 0:54 - 0:56
liked to do personally, and something
  • 0:56 - 0:58
that I always reccommend my clients do
  • 0:58 - 1:00
so let me know with a thumbs up okay?
  • 1:00 - 1:02
Todays journal topic, an I'm such an ass
  • 1:02 - 1:03
I forgot to put this persons name down
  • 1:03 - 1:05
so if this is you, let me know because
  • 1:05 - 1:07
I appologize because they put all this
  • 1:07 - 1:09
time into, and I think it was on my
  • 1:09 - 1:11
website. About one of their favorite
  • 1:11 - 1:14
bands called Fireflight and They gave
  • 1:14 - 1:16
a ton of different journal topics.
  • 1:16 - 1:19
and I forgot to put their name down
  • 1:19 - 1:20
because I was busy copy & pasting all
  • 1:20 - 1:22
their ideas, cause I like your ideas
  • 1:22 - 1:24
okay, so todays comes from that person
  • 1:24 - 1:26
who may tell us who they are below.
  • 1:26 - 1:28
Uhm & they say its another quote
  • 1:28 - 1:30
from Fireflight because they really like
  • 1:30 - 1:32
that band and from the song lightning
  • 1:32 - 1:34
If ya'll wanna look them up you can
  • 1:34 - 1:37
And it says you were never made to fit
  • 1:37 - 1:39
the mold, be a supernova and explode.
  • 1:39 - 1:42
and she says what makes you different?
  • 1:42 - 1:44
List the reasons you think your different
  • 1:44 - 1:46
and write down I was never made to fit
  • 1:46 - 1:48
the mold, and write down ways in which
  • 1:48 - 1:50
    you can make your individuality
  • 1:50 - 1:52
show instead of hidng it and pretending
  • 1:52 - 1:54
that your like someone else or everyone
  • 1:54 - 1:56
else. And I really like this because ..
  • 1:56 - 1:58
The interesting thing about growing up
  • 1:58 - 2:00
for any of you who are still in highschool
  • 2:00 - 2:02
and maybe even in college . I dont
  • 2:02 - 2:04
know if.. Sorry I'm all over the place
  • 2:04 - 2:06
but if anybody watches Modern Family
  • 2:06 - 2:08
one of my FAVORITE parts is when Mitchell
  • 2:08 - 2:10
is talking to Manny, and if you dont know
  • 2:10 - 2:12
the show I applologize but he says that
  • 2:12 - 2:14
"You know it's had being like weird
  • 2:14 - 2:16
or different when your younger because
  • 2:16 - 2:18
everybody is seeking to be the same.
  • 2:18 - 2:19
    everybody wants to fit in"
  • 2:19 - 2:21
and thats kinda like your teen years
  • 2:21 - 2:23
maybe even like highschool to like
  • 2:23 - 2:25
college-y--ish time but then when you
  • 2:25 - 2:28
get older, its what makes you so different
  • 2:28 - 2:31
& werid that makes people like you
  • 2:31 - 2:33
then that becomes a cool thing.
  • 2:33 - 2:35
and I find that so facinating and I would
  • 2:35 - 2:38
encourage all of you to spend a little
  • 2:38 - 2:40
    time recognizing what maybe different
  • 2:40 - 2:42
and what maybe we're talking negatively
  • 2:42 - 2:44
to ourselves about and instead of doing
  • 2:44 - 2:47
that, taking some time to think about
  • 2:47 - 2:49
how cool it is that maybe your f..
  • 2:49 - 2:51
i'll give some of my own examples,
  • 2:51 - 2:53
that my family is Polish & when they
  • 2:53 - 2:55
make a lot of Polish food..
  • 2:55 - 2:57
and you know some of my friends are like
  • 2:57 - 2:58
ugh what is that? eww.. we don't... I've
  • 2:58 - 3:00
never had that before. or ANYTHING
  • 3:00 - 3:03
I would be embarassed or .. things about
  • 3:03 - 3:07
maybe you have an accent, maybe your gay,
  • 3:07 - 3:10
maybe you are much taller than everybody
  • 3:10 - 3:12
else or much shorter, or much heavier
  • 3:12 - 3:15
or skinnier or your skin is lighter or
  • 3:15 - 3:17
darker than those you go to school with.
  • 3:17 - 3:19
and everybodys always like It's so bad
  • 3:19 - 3:20
you should all look the same
  • 3:20 - 3:22
but you know what makes the world
  • 3:22 - 3:24
wonderful? Is that were all different and
  • 3:24 - 3:26
so I would encurage you all to take time
  • 3:26 - 3:28
and this journal and just like she said
  • 3:28 - 3:31
    like.... embracing our differences and
  • 3:31 - 3:33
try to change the way we talk to
  • 3:33 - 3:36
ourselves about it. Because I was just
  • 3:36 - 3:38
talking to Shawn this morning.. about how
  • 3:38 - 3:40
cool our community is & I just named off
  • 3:40 - 3:42
like five different people that I've been
  • 3:42 - 3:44
talking to recently. Because I try and
  • 3:44 - 3:46
interact as much as I can Uhm and all the
  • 3:46 - 3:48
    different wonderful things your doing!
  • 3:48 - 3:50
Some of you are about to graduate and
  • 3:50 - 3:52
become a nurse, some of you are EMT's
  • 3:52 - 3:54
some of you do amazing oragami, some of
  • 3:54 - 3:56
you are like artists, some of you are in
  • 3:56 - 3:58
school and still studying to become a
  • 3:58 - 3:59
therapist like me. There are so many
  • 3:59 - 4:01
    different people doing different things
  • 4:01 - 4:03
and it's just so cool that we're so
  • 4:03 - 4:05
varied all over the board. And thats
  • 4:05 - 4:07
what I LOVE, is the differences
  • 4:07 - 4:08
    learning about different things and
  • 4:08 - 4:10
    different people and.. our different
  • 4:10 - 4:12
    experiences.. thats what I love
  • 4:12 - 4:14
So.. Try it! and let me know how it goes
  • 4:14 - 4:16
and maybe share some of the things that
  • 4:16 - 4:18
make you uniquely and wonderfully you.
  • 4:18 - 4:20
LOVE YOU! SEE YOU ON MONDAY BYE!
