  • 15:45 - 15:51
    don't hesitate. It's a huge--it's incredible
to be a part of this gang of
  • 15:51 - 15:54
great actors and... (mumbles, trails off)
  • 15:54 - 15:59
(Hardwick): Was there anything about doing
a superhero film that you never envisioned?
  • 15:59 - 16:04
What's different about it than other stuff?
    - (Johnson): The Avengers?
  • 16:04 - 16:08
    - (Hardwick): Yeah.
    - (Johnson): I think, you know, it's just
  • 16:08 - 16:14
the characters--you have such a dynamic
between, you know, the group, and I think
  • 16:14 - 16:20
what Joss did in the first one was--
it seemed like a mission to complete
  • 16:20 - 16:25
the impossible, but everyone had their
moment, stood out, and y'know, what's
  • 16:25 - 16:28
beautiful is you get these kind of
characters in the same room, and they
  • 16:28 - 16:34
bounce off of each other, there's banter
and humor and has that tone where
  • 16:34 - 16:38
it can be a happy journey, and then
be emotional and sad at moments, and
  • 16:38 - 16:41
    light-hearted and action-packed.
  • 16:41 - 16:48
I thoroughly enjoy all the Marvel movies,
and I'm so excited to be a part of this one.
  • 16:48 - 16:53
    (loud cheers)
  • 16:54 - 16:57
(Hardwick): I'm very excited to see
Paul Bettany make the jump from--
  • 16:57 - 17:03
    (cheers, applause)--a disembodied
    voice to a man on-screen.
  • 17:03 - 17:08
(Bettany): Yeah, they're now gonna make
me work for my money. (laughter)
  • 17:08 - 17:13
I used to turn up to a dark room for 45
minutes and get a bag of cash. (laughter)
  • 17:13 - 17:16
And now I have to work. (laughter)
  • 17:16 - 17:19
    (Hardwick): So how has that
    experience been for you?
  • 17:19 - 17:24
    (Bettany): Everybody's been incredibly
welcoming and it's been--it's the most
  • 17:24 - 17:28
exciting for me, it's been the most
    exciting thing that's ever happened
  • 17:28 - 17:31
    to my children. (laughter)
  • 17:31 - 17:34
(Hardwick): Do you get "cool dad"
    points for this?
  • 17:34 - 17:38
(Bettany): They simply had no interest
in what I did until this one. (laughter)
  • 17:39 - 17:41
    At last, I'm cool!
  • 17:41 - 17:44
(Hardwick): And now all the neighborhood
kids are gonna be turning up at your house
  • 17:44 - 17:47
and asking you to do the voice.
    - (Bettany): Y'know, I've had to keep this
  • 17:47 - 17:53
secret for a year and a half, and so have
my kids, which is pretty impressive,
  • 17:53 - 17:56
you know, in school, that they just
didn't breathe a word out of it.
  • 17:56 - 18:00
    - (Hardwick): That you know of.
    - (Bettany): (chuckles) That I know of.
  • 18:00 - 18:03
    (Hardwick): Welcome James Spader!
  • 18:03 - 18:11
    (cheers, applause)
  • 18:11 - 18:15
(Bettany): Is it--have you been to Comic-Con
before? Is this your first Comic-Con?
  • 18:15 - 18:20
(Spader): I came last year to Comic-Con for
a TV show I do called Blacklist.
  • 18:20 - 18:24
    (cheers)
  • 18:24 - 18:28
And, you know, I just wanna say
something to all of you guys--
  • 18:28 - 18:32
    - (Man in crowd): (unintelligible)
    - (Spader): --I've always thought my whole
  • 18:32 - 18:39
life that life could never get weird or
crazy enough for me. (laughter) And I
  • 18:39 - 18:45
gotta tell you something: This place may be
    the weirdest crazy experience--
  • 18:45 - 18:49
    (drowned out by cheers, applause)
  • 18:53 - 18:58
It's because of all of you guys and so
I thank you for that, because it is
  • 18:58 - 19:02
    really, fantastically crazy here.
    (laughter, cheers)
  • 19:02 - 19:05
    (Hardwick): You should pat yourselves
on the back, everyone, that you are
  • 19:05 - 19:11
now a part of James Spader's weird fever
    dreams. (cheers)
  • 19:11 - 19:17
So, what would you say about Ultron and
your approach to the role, and what you
  • 19:17 - 19:20
    want to bring to it?
  • 19:20 - 19:25
(Spader): (laughs) I play an 8-foot robot
    in this movie.
  • 19:25 - 19:28
    (laughter, whoop from audience)
  • 19:28 - 19:36
And it was like it was--I've always
    played humans up until now--
  • 19:36 - 19:43
    (laughter)--and shooting this film was
  • 19:43 - 19:50
as startling and surprising and challenging
and exciting as coming here, truthfully,
  • 19:50 - 20:00
for the first time. Doing this film was--
everything, everything was so entirely new.
  • 20:00 - 20:08
The process of making it, playing this
character, all of the people, the world
  • 20:08 - 20:15
that I was entering, even the world that
these movies inhabit--not just in terms of
  • 20:15 - 20:20
story and place and people and so on,
but also just the part of the movie business
  • 20:20 - 20:25
    that these movies inhabit is
    entirely new to me.
  • 20:25 - 20:31
And it was just unimaginably exciting.
  • 20:31 - 20:34
    Just unimaginably exciting.
    (cheers)
  • 20:34 - 20:37
    (Hardwick): Also welcome Liz Olsen--
  • 20:37 - 20:41
    (cheers, applause)
  • 20:41 - 20:46
(Olsen): Thank you. I hate being last. It's
quite a list of people to follow right now.
  • 20:46 - 20:49
(Hardwick): It is, and you're the last one.
    Oh, this better be good!
  • 20:49 - 20:53
    - (Olsen): It doesn't feel that great.
    - (Hardwick): No, it's good. So, you're
  • 20:53 - 20:58
the other new character on the block,
so to speak, in terms of the Scarlet
  • 20:58 - 21:02
Witch. What has your experience been
like, coming into the group and
  • 21:02 - 21:05
    being the new gal?
  • 21:05 - 21:10
(Olsen): It's been awesome. I was first
really intimidated by all of the people
  • 21:10 - 21:15
I was going to potentially work with, and
    then everyone was incredibly welcoming
  • 21:15 - 21:20
and it's just been so much fun. And it's
fun to bring a new element to the game.
  • 21:20 - 21:26
    There's now magic, there's
    mutated people--
  • 21:26 - 21:30
    (boos from crowd)--Woah, sorry about
    that. (boos continue)
  • 21:30 - 21:33
    (Hardwick, overlapping): What are you
oohing at? I don't even get that.
  • 21:33 - 21:36
    What'd everyone "ooh" at before?
    (crowd noises continue)
  • 21:36 - 21:38
    - (Bettany, quietly): "Mutant"
    - (Ruffalo): "Mutant's" a bad word.
  • 21:38 - 21:42
    - (Hardwick): Yeah, I know, I know, I know.
    - (Olsen): But anyway, I just think it's--
  • 21:42 - 21:45
    - (Hardwick, overlapping): We're all the same--
    - (Olsen): --yeah, I think it ends up
  • 21:45 - 21:48
    adding something kind of epic
to the fights, that there's just a new
  • 21:48 - 21:53
element. It's not just awesome punching and...
  • 21:53 - 21:59
I dunno. Now we get to do something
different, and I think it brings up
  • 21:59 - 22:03
    where Marvel's going with their
other films as well, having all the...
  • 22:03 - 22:06
    It's just like the beginning,
it kinda feels like just the beginning.
  • 22:06 - 22:09
    (Hardwick): When you're preparing a
character that does all the things that
  • 22:09 - 22:13
she does, is it any different from preparing
    if you're just playing a regular non-witch?
  • 22:13 - 22:17
(Olsen): Yes. I practice daily, just staring
at a pencil and trying to get it to move.
  • 22:17 - 22:19
    (laughter)
    - (Hardwick): Any luck making autographs?
  • 22:19 - 22:22
    - (Olsen): Yeah, for hours.
    - (Hardwick): It's not working, though?
  • 22:22 - 22:24
    - (Olsen): It's what?
    - (Hardwick): Is it working yet?
  • 22:24 - 22:26
    - (Olsen) No, it's been flying!
    - (Hardwick): You should see her do it,
  • 22:26 - 22:28
    it's pretty cool.
    - (Olsen): I'm nailing it.
  • 22:28 - 22:31
    (laughter)
    - (Downey Jr): She actually cast a spell
  • 22:31 - 22:37
on me two weeks ago, and hopefully before
this is all done, she'll relieve me of it.
  • 22:37 - 22:41
    (laughter)
    - (Renner): It burns. (more laughter)
  • 22:41 - 22:43
    (Downey Jr laughs loudly)
  • 22:43 - 22:47
    (Hardwick): That could mean anything!
It doesn't mean--(drowned out by laughter)
  • 22:47 - 22:49
    (laughs, cheers, chatter)
  • 22:49 - 22:53
    That's on you guys!
    - (Downey Jr, small voice): It burns!
  • 22:53 - 23:00
(Downey Jr, normaly): We can't be
giddy this early, no. (laughter, whoops)
  • 23:00 - 23:03
    (Hardwick): Obviously, you've probably
noticed that Scarlett Johansson was not
  • 23:03 - 23:06
able to be here, even though I know
that she wanted to be here.
  • 23:06 - 23:09
(Downey Jr): Scarlett wanted to be here,
Scarlett is, right now... (fades out)
  • 23:09 - 23:12
    (Hardwick): I don't know how
    you'd top Ultron, bad-guy-wise.
  • 23:12 - 23:16
(Downey Jr): You know, the great thing
about Marvel is they've always got the
  • 23:16 - 23:20
next thing up their sleeve, so, uh...
  • 23:20 - 23:25
    well, you know, we've got
    Thanos. (loud cheers)
  • 23:30 - 23:36
    (Hardwick): Josh Brolin! (loud cheers)
  • 23:37 - 23:41
    (cheers, applause continue)
  • 23:50 - 23:53
(Brolin, deep, sulky voice): Where's my rose?
  • 23:53 - 23:58
    (laughter, cheers)
  • 24:01 - 24:03
    (laughter gets louder)
  • 24:04 - 24:07
(Downey Jr): We love you guys so much,
we're so excited! Thanks for coming,
  • 24:07 - 24:11
we're gonna keep trying to do
our best for you. (cheers, applause)
  • 24:11 - 24:16
    (Hardwick): You're the best, guys!
Age of Ultron, out in May of 2015!
  • 24:16 - 24:21
Please, continue to stay on your feet. A
new round of applause for the entire cast!
  • 24:21 - 24:28
    (loud cheers, whoops, applause)
  • 24:28 - 24:31
(Hardwick): I don't know where you go
from here. It doesn't get better than
  • 24:31 - 24:36
this! But I hope you guys have a nice,
safe night. So great to see you guys.
  • 24:36 - 24:39
See you tomorrow on the Con--one more day!
