how does it feel being here at Comic-Con,

This is the longest bench of talent
I've ever been a part of, and we've

got a real nice movie coming up

you've been in, this is probably the first time

you're actually, I mean you're genuinely part
of this family of people now, that's ongoing.

(Downey Jr): Yeah, and I become
a little less significant every time,

(Renner): Uh, no. No, no, it's been a
wonderful blessing. Meeting this guy over here,

he's the one that convinced me and
washed my car in a thong, and said

"Are you going to be Hawkeye, "Please?"

(Hardwick): All right, Michael Besa, when's he next?
(Renner): He did do that, he did do that.

He washed my car in a thong, it was amazing,
I thought it was. I don't wanna see him

wearing that shit. Um no, it was easy to
want to join. It wasn't very hard

convincing me to do it. I never envisioned
it, but I'm glad to be part of this

amazing group of humans sitting at

(Hardwick): Mark Ruffalo, we did the panel
for the--(audience cheers)--When the Avengers
-
was first announced, there really wasn't a
whole lot of footage and we were at New York
-
Comic-Con, and you were on the panel, and
at the time you were like, "I don't really
-
understand all this Comic-Con stuff and
what this is," and you did it, and since
-
then, it completely blew up. Did this
exceed your expectations?
-
(Ruffalo): Ah... Slightly. (audience laughs)
-
By a huge margin, and they don't
-
treat me like this at home, that's for sure
when I want to talk. (laughter, cheers)
-
That--that's really--
- (Woman in crowd): We love you! (cheers)

meant to you all this time?

(Hemsworth): Well, as these guys said,
this is for me the same thing--one of the

best experiences I've had on the set,
off the set, to work with this group

of people and bring this character
to life and be part of this madness.

(Hardwick): Is there anything that you
haven't done as Thor yet that you feel like,
-
"Oh, I just really want to do this thing
as Thor. I really want Thor to do this"?

(Hemsworth): Turning into a woman.

I don't want to speak too early and jinx
it, but I think it could be my Oscar.

backstage about what a whirlwind this'll
be. It's basically swoop in and do this and

people scream and cheer, and then you leave.
Do you get to enjoy the Comic-Con at all?
-
(Smulders): Yeah, not the going-on-the-floor
or anything, but it was my first time doing
-
a signing with these guys. It was pretty
incredible to get to meet people and--
-
and sign pictures and kind of
connect for a second or so.
-
(Hardwick): Excellent. And could you--I
think we talked--you didn't expect that
-
this would keep going on and on
for Maria, right?
-
(Smulders): No I hoped, I hoped! Yeah, but
when Joss sort of, Joss is the one who
-
kind of brought me into this world and
I'm sorry he can't be here. I'm sure he
-
wishes he could be. But yeah, he kinda
brought me into this world and it's just
-
been fun, I just keep going on and on
in film and TV and I'm just so grateful.
-
(Hardwick): Excellent.
(audience cheers)

So Jackson, it is ah--

(audience cheers loudly)

(Jackson): I can't hear the question.
Please. (audience laughter)

(Hardwick): Does it feel good to put the
eye patch back on? Because I feel like

last time we talked about it you were
like, "I bump into stuff a lot. Because of

my depth perception with the eye patch on."

(Jackson): I was smart enough to figure it out.
(audience laughs)

I stopped running into things and I
just keep my head to the right.
-
It all works out fine. (audience laughter)

(Hardwick): Good.

(Jackson): I've got that down pat, Kevin,
and you can cancel the insurance.

(laughter)

Everyone's like, "huh?" (laughter)

(Hardwick): So how do you feel? Like,
how do you think Nick Fury would react

to this type of perception?
- (Jackson): Um... You know, Comic-Con
-
is phenomenal. It's totally amazing.
It's like every year, (whoop from audience)
-
I've been coming here since like Episode I
of Star Wars. (big cheers from audience)
-
It seems like every year I come here,
and it validates the fact that I belong,
-
and I get all this energy and love
from everybody, and it makes me feel
-
like going out and making movies
for the rest of the year. (loud cheers)
-
We make movies because we wanna entertain
you guys, and I make movies because I
-
wanna see myself in them. (laughter)
It's the perfect combination for me!
-
All this love and... It just energizes me, and
I can't wait to come back next year with
-
the next movie. (loud cheers, applause)
-
(Hardwick): Now, let's go over to Chris
Evans who's--

(loud cheers)
-
(Evans): I don't like this going-down-the-line
thing--this is intimidating!
-
(Hardwick): It's very assembly-line. The
whole time you're like, "What am I gonna
-
say? What's my answer gonna be?" I heard
a story that I wanted to confirm from you,
-
and I don't know if it's true, but I heard
that when you and Hemsworth were sort of
-
working together that you guys were like
comparing muscle rippage, and you were like,
-
"But how do you get this little piece right here?"
- (Evans): There's no comparison! I mean
-
come on, it's very difficult to stand next
to him. He literally--he is Thor. (laughter)
-
It's not just a costume, he is enormous.
It's difficult to try and keep up. (laughter)
-
(Hardwick): How do you keep up? Like,
how long is your workout here?
-
(Evans): Magic! CGI! (laughter)
-
Stunt man and, uh, you know...
-
(Hardwick): Congratulations on
the success of Winter Soldier.
-
(Downey Jr?): Yes! (audience cheers)
-
(Hardwick): Do you feel like, at this
point, that Steve--the Captain's--does
-
he feel more acclimated to this world
yet, or does he still feel a little isolated?
-
(Evans): Well no, I think he's getting there.
I think we're past, y'know, he's not
-
amazed at cell phones and the Internet.
(laughter) I mean, I think he's up to speed,
-
but I think he's still looking for a place
to belong, you know? He's for so long
-
been a servant. It fits him, and as a
soldier he's used to this chain of command,
-
and since S.H.E.I.L.D. kinda fell apart
in the last movie, it's more about this
-
group of people depending upon
each other, without a clear leader,
-
and I think he's searching for home.
-
(Hardwick): I'd like to welcome Aaron
Taylor-Johnson. (loud cheers)
-
Quicksilver!
-
Who we'll just get a peek of, a little
bit! How has it felt, coming into this
-
established world with all these people
who've been working together, as the new guy?
-
(audience whoops, cheers)
(Johnson): Pretty overwhelming, and surreal,
-
and I was flattered that Joss and the Marvel
guys approached me for this. You know,
-
don't hesitate. It's a huge--it's incredible
to be a part of this gang of
-
great actors and... (mumbles, trails off)
-
(Hardwick): Was there anything about doing
a superhero film that you never envisioned?
-
What's different about it than other stuff?
- (Johnson): The Avengers?
-
- (Hardwick): Yeah.
- (Johnson): I think, you know, it's just
-
the characters--you have such a dynamic
between, you know, the group, and I think
-
what Joss did in the first one was--
it seemed like a mission to complete
-
the impossible, but everyone had their
moment, stood out, and y'know, what's
-
beautiful is you get these kind of
characters in the same room, and they
-
bounce off of each other, there's banter
and humor and has that tone where
-
it can be a happy journey, and then
be emotional and sad at moments, and
-
light-hearted and action-packed.
-
I thoroughly enjoy all the Marvel movies,
and I'm so excited to be a part of this one.
-
(loud cheers)
-
(Hardwick): I'm very excited to see
Paul Bettany make the jump from--
-
(cheers, applause)--a disembodied
voice to a man on-screen.
-
(Bettany): Yeah, they're now gonna make
me work for my money. (laughter)
-
I used to turn up to a dark room for 45
minutes and get a bag of cash. (laughter)
-
And now I have to work. (laughter)
-
(Hardwick): So how has that
experience been for you?
-
(Bettany): Everybody's been incredibly
welcoming and it's been--it's the most
-
exciting for me, it's been the most
exciting thing that's ever happened
-
to my children. (laughter)
-
(Hardwick): Do you get "cool dad"
points for this?
-
(Bettany): They simply had no interest
in what I did until this one. (laughter)
-
At last, I'm cool!
-
(Hardwick): And now all the neighborhood
kids are gonna be turning up at your house
-
and asking you to do the voice.
- (Bettany): Y'know, I've had to keep this
-
secret for a year and a half, and so have
my kids, which is pretty impressive,
-
you know, in school, that they just
didn't breathe a word out of it.
-
- (Hardwick): That you know of.
- (Bettany): (chuckles) That I know of.
-
(Hardwick): Welcome James Spader!
-
(cheers, applause)
-
(Bettany): Is it--have you been to Comic-Con
before? Is this your first Comic-Con?
-
(Spader): I came last year to Comic-Con for
a TV show I do called Blacklist.
-
(cheers)
-
And, you know, I just wanna say
something to all of you guys--

- (Man in crowd): (unintelligible)
- (Spader): --I've always thought my whole
-
life that life could never get weird or
crazy enough for me. (laughter) And I
-
gotta tell you something: This place may be
the weirdest crazy experience--
-
(drowned out by cheers, applause)
-
It's because of all of you guys and so
I thank you for that, because it is
-
really, fantastically crazy here.
(laughter, cheers)

(Hardwick): You should pat yourselves
on the back, everyone, that you are
-
now a part of James Spader's weird fever
dreams. (cheers)

So, what would you say about Ultron and
your approach to the role, and what you
-
want to bring to it?
-
(Spader): (laughs) I play an 8-foot robot
in this movie.
-
(laughter, whoop from audience)
-
And it was like it was--I've always
played humans up until now--
-
(laughter)--and shooting this film was
-
as startling and surprising and challenging
and exciting as coming here, truthfully,
-
for the first time. Doing this film was--
everything, everything was so entirely new.
-
The process of making it, playing this
character, all of the people, the world
-
that I was entering, even the world that
these movies inhabit--not just in terms of
-
story and place and people and so on,
but also just the part of the movie business
-
that these movies inhabit is
entirely new to me.
-
And it was just unimaginably exciting.
-
Just unimaginably exciting.
(cheers)

(Hardwick): Also welcome Liz Olsen--

(cheers, applause)
-
(Olsen): Thank you. I hate being last. It's

the other new character on the block,
so to speak, in terms of the Scarlet

Witch. What has your experience been
like, coming into the group and
-
being the new gal?
-
(Olsen): It's been awesome. I was first
really intimidated by all of the people
-
I was going to potentially work with, and
then everyone was incredibly welcoming
-
and it's just been so much fun. And it's
fun to bring a new element to the game.
-
There's now magic, there's
mutated people--
-
(boos from crowd)--Woah, sorry about
that. (boos continue)
-
(Hardwick, overlapping): What are you
oohing at? I don't even get that.
-
What'd everyone "ooh" at before?
(crowd noises continue)

- (Bettany, quietly): "Mutant"
- (Ruffalo): "Mutant's" a bad word.

- (Hardwick): Yeah, I know, I know, I know.
- (Olsen): But anyway, I just think it's--

- (Hardwick, overlapping): We're all the same--
- (Olsen): --yeah, I think it ends up

adding something kind of epic
to the fights, that there's just a new
-
element. It's not just awesome punching and...
-
I dunno. Now we get to do something
different, and I think it brings up
-
where Marvel's going with their
other films as well, having all the...
-
It's just like the beginning,
it kinda feels like just the beginning.
-
(Hardwick): When you're preparing a
character that does all the things that
-
she does, is it any different from preparing
if you're just playing a regular non-witch?
-
(Olsen): Yes. I practice daily, just staring
at a pencil and trying to get it to move.
-
(laughter)
- (Hardwick): Any luck making autographs?
-
- (Olsen): Yeah, for hours.
- (Hardwick): It's not working, though?
-
- (Olsen): It's what?
- (Hardwick): Is it working yet?
-
- (Olsen) No, it's been flying!
- (Hardwick): You should see her do it,
-
it's pretty cool.
- (Olsen): I'm nailing it.
-
(laughter)
- (Downey Jr): She actually cast a spell
-
on me two weeks ago, and hopefully before
this is all done, she'll relieve me of it.

(laughter)
- (Renner): It burns. (more laughter)
