Entrance -
0:41 - 0:43Hi, I'm Tom Platz.
-
0:43 - 0:47Welcome to Hollywood, California.
Universal Studios. -
0:47 - 0:50Site of the 1998 Mr. Olympia contest.
-
0:50 - 0:53Bodybuilders from all over the world
are here to compete tonight -
0:53 - 0:57for the Mr. Olimpia contest.
Bodybuilding's most prestigious event. -
0:57 - 1:00The favorite tonight, of course,
is Mr. Olympia Lee Haney. -
1:00 - 1:04Lee Hayney has won it four times in a row.
Can he win it five times? -
1:04 - 1:08And can he ever dream of coming close to
matching Arnold Schwarzenegger's record, -
1:08 - 1:10of wining it seven times?
-
1:14 - 1:18Over the years we have heard a lot about
the weights of the bodybuilders,
in the magazines. -
1:18 - 1:22And, there's a lot of speculatiion.
This year, it's gonna be official. -
1:22 - 1:24You'll see them, and then
you'll know what they weigh. -
1:24 - 1:27Take your seats gentlemen.
First bodybuilder, Rich Gaspary. -
1:28 - 1:31Rich has focused this year was,
-
1:31 - 1:34reducing his body weight over last year.
-
1:34 - 1:37He was too heavy last year
and appeared to blocky on stage. -
1:37 - 1:41And making his waist look small,
he feels he'll be able to be more of a threat, -
1:41 - 1:43more of a viable threat to Lee.
-
1:43 - 1:46Two hundred nine and a half pounds.
-
1:48 - 1:50I'm going into this show,
-
1:50 - 1:52going in the best that I can be.
-
1:52 - 1:56And that's what I wanna do. I wanna go in,
to this show, with people saying, -
1:56 - 1:59"Man, does Barry look phenomenal."
-
1:59 - 2:01"Does Barry look the best shape
I've ever seen him?" -
2:01 - 2:03You know, and to me,
-
2:03 - 2:05that's more satisfaction
than winning this contest. -
2:05 - 2:09But, you know, I was saying this
the whole way training for this contest -
2:09 - 2:12and out comes down to the wire
and I wanna win. -
2:12 - 2:14I wanna win this thing bad.
-
3:10 - 3:13You know that I feel that I've improved
my symetry. -
3:13 - 3:17I kept that mass in my upper body,
but I lost it all in the waist -
3:17 - 3:19so I have more of a streamline physique.
-
3:19 - 3:21Having a small waist but a
thicker upper body. -
3:21 - 3:23A thicker back.
-
3:23 - 3:26Everyone says my back's improved and
my arms have improved. -
3:26 - 3:28Plus I think that with time and maturity,
-
3:28 - 3:30competing in the Mr. Olimpia.
-
3:30 - 3:32I started competing in the Mr. Olimpia
at 22 years old. -
3:32 - 3:33I was relatively young.
-
3:33 - 3:36And being that young,
I feel like my muscles haven't matured yet. -
3:36 - 3:40Now being 25, they,
they seem to look a lot more mature. -
3:40 - 3:41They have more of that density.
