  • 0:16 - 0:29
    THE BATLLE FOR GOLD
  • 0:31 - 0:33
    The Registry Hotel
    Entrance
  • 0:41 - 0:43
    Hi, I'm Tom Flats.
  • 0:43 - 0:47
    Welcome to Hollywood, California.
    Universal Studios.
  • 0:47 - 0:50
Site of the 1998 Mr. Olympia contest.
  • 0:50 - 0:53
Bodybuilders from all over the world
    are here to compete tonight
  • 0:53 - 0:57
    for the Mr. Olimpia contest.
    Bodybuilding's most prestigious event.
  • 0:57 - 1:00
    The favorite tonight, of course,
    is Mr. Olympia Lee Haney.
  • 1:00 - 1:04
Lee Hayney has won it four times in a row.
Can he win it five times?
  • 1:04 - 1:08
And can he ever dream of coming close to
    matching Arnold Schwarzenegger's record,
  • 1:08 - 1:10
    of wining it seven times?
  • 1:14 - 1:18
Over the years we have heard a lot about
    the weights of the bodybuilders,
    in the magazines.
  • 1:18 - 1:22
And, there's a lot of speculatiion.
This year, it's gonna be official.
  • 1:22 - 1:24
    You'll see them, and then
    you'll know what they weigh.
  • 1:24 - 1:27
    Take your seats gentlemen.
    First bodybuilder, Richcus Barry.
  • 1:28 - 1:31
Rich has focused this year was,
  • 1:31 - 1:34
reducing his body weight over last year.
  • 1:34 - 1:37
He was too heavy last year
and appeared to blocky on stage.
  • 1:37 - 1:41
And making his waist look small,
he feels he'll be able to be more of a threat,
  • 1:41 - 1:43
more of a viable threat to Lee.
  • 1:43 - 1:46
Two hundred nine and a half pounds.
  • 1:48 - 1:50
    I'm going into this show,
  • 1:50 - 1:52
going in the best that I can be.
  • 1:52 - 1:56
And that's what I wanna do. I wanna go in,
to this show, with people saying,
  • 1:56 - 1:59
    "Man, does Barry look phenomenal."
  • 1:59 - 2:01
"Does Barry look the best shape
    I've ever seen him?"
  • 2:01 - 2:03
    You know, and to me,
  • 2:03 - 2:05
    that's more satisfaction
    than winning this contest.
  • 2:05 - 2:09
But, you know, I was saying this
the whole way training for this contest
  • 2:09 - 2:12
and out comes down to the wire
    and I wanna win.
  • 2:12 - 2:14
I wanna win this thing bad.
  • 3:10 - 3:13
You know that I feel that I've improved
    my symetry.
  • 3:13 - 3:17
I kept that mass in my upper body,
but I lost it all in the waist
  • 3:17 - 3:19
so I have more of a streamline physique.
  • 3:19 - 3:21
Having a small waist but a
    thicker upper body.
  • 3:21 - 3:23
    A thicker back.
  • 3:23 - 3:26
Everyone says my back's improved and
    my arms have improved.
  • 3:26 - 3:28
Plus I think that with time and maturity,
  • 3:28 - 3:30
    competing in the Mr. Olimpia.
  • 3:30 - 3:32
I started competing in the Mr. Olimpia
    at 22 years old.
  • 3:32 - 3:33
    I was relatively young.
  • 3:33 - 3:36
    And being that young,
I feel like my muscles haven't matured yet.
  • 3:36 - 3:40
    Now being 25, they,
they seem to look a lot more mature.
  • 3:40 - 3:41
They have more of that density.
