Why are people born deaf?

'Acharya Shree, why are people born deaf?'

It is an unusual question but very important.

People are unaware of the law of Karma. The law of karma works different way.

They think it was coincedence, doctor thinks that it was just some kind of lacking in mother's body, so the baby is born deaf.

It is not just that! That is also one thing to know that mother has to be very much educated how to raise baby and how to take care of her own womb.

Sooo... But instead of that, the law of Karma is very different.

'As you sow so shall you reap'

Nobody just be born deaf unless then they have that kind of bad Karma.

They have collected in the previous life or in this life in the past,

so they can be deaf, be born deaf or they can become deaf after they are born.

It is very difficult to understand this law of Karma, but I can give you an example:

It happened in the Mongol empire in İndia, it is not... like a historical 3 thousand year back... It is not that old.

It is just recent... 400 hundred years ago... It is very much written. There are proofs.

The Delhi king, the Mogol king in İndia, his wife was Nurcaha(?). She recommended that 'If you can make my brother a governer, some where in the otherstate.'

And he made him a governer in Jammu in Keshmir.

He was very happy in the beginning but later on, he became very bad. He had bad habit to drink,

he had bad habit to play cards, or gambling... and he began to destroy his kingdom. People complained about him.

They come to Delhi and they complained about him. And one day the king decided to go there and check by himself.

And he went there. He was very well welcomed there. And he arranged... the governer arranged everything.

And people were complaining that what happened, how my son died, how my father died, how my brother died...

He arranged everything that he was listening a music concert, he was sitting on his chair and he fall as sleep.

But.. And he suggested his bodyguard, 'When I am assleep, stop the concert.'

But the bodyguard, he was so much into it, he forgot. After a couple hours, he woke up again and the concert was still on!

It was a beautifull music. He asked, 'But why didn't you stop?' He said 'It was so beautifull, so sweet music... I just forgot!'

'Was it so good, you liked it?', 'Yes, I liked it.'

He ordered his employees(guards) that bring... create a fire, have a big cauldron and melt iron, steel.

And they did it. And by the morning when it was ready, melted, it became like a liquid, very hot...

And he ordered, 'Pour it in his ears. Because he liked the music so much!'

And he poured that liquid, hot liquid, like a magma erupted, that hot!..

And he died by crying. You can not, you can not imagine how much pain he was in. He couldn't survive, he died.

And this kind of person who is collecting this kind of Karma now, next life, not only this person will be, this king will be born as a deaf...

Also he will suffer all of his life...

Whatever we collect karma, if we damage somebody else's ears, you go through...

Even Mahavira! The 24th Tirthankara, he couldn't escape... There is a story about his life about the same thing.

That somebody literally... literally put a stick in his ear, while he was in a meditative state in the jungle.

But someone passing saw his state. He was still bledding in meditation. So they brought a doctor there and they took the stick out.

So Mahavira survived. But he explained, 'It was my own Karma. Because I hurt this person in my previous life, and

I destroyed his ears. It was my pride, it was my ego... So don't kill this person because it was my own Karma.'

So the Karma will not leave you alone, whatever you collect.

But you be careful, many people born deaf because of... the person goes that extend, to... in that extend in cruality.

And what about they kill with cruality the animals? They put the sharp edge of the sword in to the ears of the animals and they get killed.

So you have to think that, if somebody is being born deaf ear, it is his own Karma.

And the suffering what it will bring, instead of being deaf, there must be lot of suffering other things too.

So it is all of his Karma... But I will suggest you, 'Never go that extreme. Even mentally'

Like, sometimes people, they make fun of deaf people... They are collecting same kind of Karma.

Even you are making fun of deaf people of the people that can not hear.

The children have that tendency to make fun of deaf people. And when they make fun for enjoyment.

That enjoyment hards that deaf person a lot. So they bring that kind of Karma for themselves.

So I want to make aware every one that don't make fun of anyone who is deaf.

Especially, don't tell him you are deaf even. Because that hurts that person a lot.

So if you want to be a very good person, this life or next life or next what ever...So be carefull, to the person who is disabled or deaf,

don't make fun of it. Otherwise you are going to collect a lot of bad Karma and you will be also born deaf.

That is one thing about deafness. But it doesn't mean the deaf person can not improve.

He/she can also improve spiritually. So spiritually it can be improved if the deaf person can find a guide.
