That is box office collection of feature films

In todays' episode of the number game

we will be discussing the
box office collections of two films

one is Jersey and the other is

KGF Chapter 2

3-years after Kabir Singh Shahid Kapoor
returns to the big screen with Jersey

and the expectations were high!

why not?

because his last film had collected over
260 crores at the box office in the Hindi belts

but box office is unpredictable

we all know it

and the run of Jersey is
a testimony to this statement

the movie shocked the
trade with its opening

as it collected just rupees 3.70 crores
on the opening day

the business jumped but
the jump was not big enough

the 2nd Day collection of Jersey
stood in the range of 5.10 crores

and now talking of the Sunday

It was a rather flat trend
at the box office for Jersey

on the 3rd day the film
collected around 5 crores

this means the Shahid Kapoor film
has clocked an opening weekend of

13.70 crores...

These are low numbers

very low numbers as far as
theatrical runs are concerned

But what led to such low collections?

is a conversation which everyone
is doing in the industry right now

if you ask us...

... constant delay in the release of Jersey
hampered its theatrical prospect

had the film released on 31st Decemeber

that is the initially decided release date

the business would have been lot more

because of multiple reasons

No. 1- It was a holiday release

No. 2- it wouldn't have faced any competition

yes the cases were on the rise
in December but the theatres didn't shut

and the audiences were stepping out
to watch a film back in the day

example- PUSHPA

So yes on 31st December
Jersey would have done a lot better

A release on 22nd April wasn't exactly the
right move taken by the team of Jersey

Why?

Because the audiences had already spent
a considerable amount of money on films like

KGF Chapter 2
RRR and the

Kashmir Files in the last one month

theatrically Jersey is a flop
No two ways on that

but it's the whole-day
collection on Monday

and the trend on the weekdays that will determine

if it can reach a total of
respectable total of 50 crores

or will it end somewhere
around 30-35 crores mark

KGF Chapter 2 is a box office monster and
this fact has been established by now

The film did slow down on the weekdays but

the Yash-starrer got back
in business in its 2nd weekend

the movie collected 11.50 crores on 2nd Friday

followed by a massive 70% jump
on Saturday to collect 18 crores

As per trends, there was another jump
for KGF Chapter 2 on Sunday

the film jumped by 25% to collect
in the range of rupees 23 crores

with this, the total of KGF Chapter 2 stands
at a mammoth total of 315 crores

the 2nd-weekend collection can be slightly higher too
as we still await the exact numbers of Sunday

which we expect to touch even 25crores

given how well it holds in the mass belt

but yes this is a massive weekend and
the 2nd weekend collections have got

KGF Chapter 2 is back in the race to surpass
the lifetime collections of DANGAL

that is 375 crores rupees

KGF Chapter 2 is headed to collect anywhere in
the range of 375-390 crores in the Hindi belts

which is in the
same range as DANGAL

The film is already the highest-grossing film in
the Hindi belts since the start of Pandemic

And given how the scenario is we
don't expect any Hindi film to challenge

the collections of
KGF Chapter 2 in this year

So yes that's how the
box office was placed this weekend

wherein KGF Chapter 2 still continued
to dominate in its 2nd weekend

with collections of over 50 crores

whereas Jersey is still low
with a collection of 13.70 crores

that was it in
today's episode of NUMBER GAME
