a field day with this, I see.

exactly did we just show you?

- It was a bunch of different clips

over "deez nuts."

- I have a friend in Seattle.
We do that on the phone.

I say, "Hello, it's deez nuts."

- (Finebros) Did you like watching these?
- Yeah, it's fun.

- Yeah, I loved them. I thought
the choices were great.

- Any time that someone
is that amused with themselves,

it's like a disease-- you catch it.

- (Finebros) This trend has been
popular for months now,

where people take the footage
of the guy saying "deez nuts"
-
and put it in different situations.
Even younger kids like this.

Do you think this is appropriate
for younger kids to be watching?

- Well, it's a little harmless
-
in considering some of the other
things that you hear or see.
-
- Sure, why not?
-
They know so much more
than we know. It's like, pff.
-
- Yeah, it's good with me.
I'm okay with it.

It's not a matter of being appropriate.
-
It's a matter of just living
and expressing yourself.

- (Finebros) And so the original
was more of like a prank call.

But people are now
doing this in everyday life,
-
where they'll prank someone else
-
by making you think you're
gonna ask a serious question,
-
but then you answer, "Deez nuts."
-
What do you think about that as a prank?
- I love it.
-
- I think it's great.
-
- I think I might just have
to try it out in my pranking.

- I could see where guys
especially would do that.

I think that a lot of women would think,
-
"Oh, it's sort of silly."
-
- I can remember in my day,
the thing was this.

And it meant the finger.

- Every generation has a prank,
-
like making a phone call and asking,
-
"Is your refrigerator running?"
and people going, "Yes,"
-
and then you say,
"Oh, well, go run after it!"

- (Finebros) Also something odd
that has happened with this trend
-
has something to do
with politics this year.
-
Do you have any idea what?
- I don't know.
-
Maybe it occurred with
an Obama speech or something.
-
- Someone can put it
into their political slogan.
-
- If it was up to me,
I would insert that little video
-
right in the middle of the debates.
-
- (Finebros) So what happened is
-
somebody used Deez Nuts as a name
-
and officially filed
paperwork with the F.E.C.
-
to run as an independent
presidential candidate.
-
- (laughs) Really?
-
- (Finebros) Why do you think
people would joke-vote
-
for Deez Nuts?
- Well, since politics is a joke,
-
it's pretty clear that they'd
vote for somebody who's nutty.
-
- What are the other choices?
Why not? Because it's fun.
-
I mean, it's a kick in the pants.

- (Finebros) So back to these videos,
-
this is one of many short-form trends,
-
like ones we've shown on this show before,
-
where people remix original footage
to create their own versions.

Could you ever have imagined
that becoming something
-
people like to watch?
- Yeah. Yeah. I could see that happening.
-
It's more creative. It's different.
-
- It's just the latest thing
that's going around.
-
- They're looking for something different.
-
They want to get entertained.
-
If this rolls in and starts
entertaining people,

yeah, I can see it catching on.

- (Finebros) Do you yourself
consider this to be entertainment?

- Yeah. Sure.
-
- Sure, 'cause we're all-- you know, even
-
the older generation are sending
good stuff on Facebook.

- Not at all.
-
Not for me.
-
- No.
-
I like a story.
-
I like the beginning,
a middle, and an end.

- I need a longer section
of something with continuity.
-
- My mantra in life is,
be nice and have fun.

And they were being nice,
