May 18 - Why the Kids Stayed in Church
-
0:01 - 0:04For more than 110 years,
the 13th Sabbath Offering -
0:04 - 0:06has empowered
the Seventh-day Adventist Church -
0:06 - 0:08to launch mission boats,
-
0:08 - 0:09fly mission planes,
-
0:09 - 0:10heal the sick,
-
0:10 - 0:12educate young people,
-
0:12 - 0:14reach the unreached,
-
0:14 - 0:15and change lives.
-
0:31 - 0:33The sacrificial giving
of faithful Adventists -
0:33 - 0:34for more than a century
-
0:34 - 0:37has brought light and hope
to every corner of the globe. -
0:38 - 0:41Many of these offerings
have gone toward children's projects. -
0:42 - 0:45In 2011, a portion
of the 13th Sabbath Offering -
0:45 - 0:47was used to translate
children's materials, like books, -
0:47 - 0:52into the local languages of Armenia,
Azerbaijan, and Georgia. -
0:52 - 0:53More than ten years later,
-
0:53 - 0:55we can see the effects
that these materials had -
0:55 - 0:57on that generation of children.
-
0:57 - 1:00Guram is a video editor
in the Adventist Church -
1:00 - 1:01in the city of Tbilisi, Georgia.
-
1:02 - 1:06The translated materials
from the 2011 13th Sabbath Offering -
1:06 - 1:09were instrumental
in shaping his spiritual life. -
1:11 - 1:15I was about eight years old
when my parents brought me to church. -
1:17 - 1:20At that time, there was already
a group of children -
1:20 - 1:22who would actively study the Bible.
-
1:23 - 1:27These lessons, which were conducted
in my native language, -
1:27 - 1:31significantly contributed
to my getting to know God. -
1:32 - 1:35Years passed, and today,
-
1:35 - 1:38I try to be actively involved in service.
-
1:39 - 1:43Currently, with the support
of Adventist World Radio, -
1:44 - 1:47I participate in the preparation
of video materials. -
1:47 - 1:51I hope God will help us to do
even more in our country. -
1:54 - 1:56In another Georgian city,
-
1:56 - 1:59Lela remembers not being interested
in church as a kid. -
1:59 - 2:02It wasn't until there were materials
designed for her -
2:02 - 2:04that she started to enjoy going to church.
-
2:04 - 2:06Lela grew closer to God
-
2:06 - 2:08and began getting more involved in church.
-
2:08 - 2:12Today, she's the assistant
Sabbath school teacher for the children. -
2:12 - 2:15She loves passing on her passion for Jesus
-
2:15 - 2:16to this young generation.
-
2:17 - 2:19Children's classes are important
-
2:19 - 2:22because children need to grow
in understanding God -
2:22 - 2:23and grow in knowledge of God,
-
2:23 - 2:26so they can stay in church
when they grow up. -
2:27 - 2:31Thanks to your giving
to the 13th Sabbath Offering in 2011, -
2:31 - 2:35children such as Guram and Lela
have grown up loving Jesus -
2:35 - 2:38and continue to be active contributors
to ministry as young adults. -
2:39 - 2:42The impact of this offering
will only truly be known -
2:42 - 2:44when we all get to heaven.
-
2:44 - 2:47Thank you for your support
of the 13th Sabbath Offering -
2:47 - 2:50that makes a difference in so many lives.
