-
How are you, sir?
-
I'm fine.
-
Please introduce yourself
-
My name is Lazaro Msabila
-
I am the Education Officer of Gala Ward
-
I am very happy we got visitors today
-
Honestly, the learning conditions
without electricity are quite difficult
-
That's because electricity
has many important roles
-
Firstly, it facilitates proper
studying in the evening for the students
-
But also provides light in the dormitories
or wherever they may be during the night
-
Additionally, since the school is
nearby a National Park,
-
the exterior lights makes it safer
for the students moving during dark hours.
-
Currently, the solar powered lights
donated by 'SO THEY CAN'
-
have helped eliminate a lot of the issues
-
Nevertheless, it would be even more
advantageous if
-
we would be able get larger light panels.
-
'SO THEY CAN' Tanzania has
benefited us quite a lot.
-
First, they donated mattresses,
which we were terribly short of.
-
They kindly gave 58 mattresses,
which minimized accommodation troubles.
-
Furthermore, they donated books
and a bunch of other teaching materials.
-
Additionally, they provided training to
teachers through seminars.
-
Previously the situation was terribly bad
-
Students had to use kerosene lamps
for lighting during night studies
-
which are quite dangerous and
do not emit enough light
-
This would often result to eye strain.
The portable solar lights remedied that.
-
Even for students who study at home
solar power has been quite beneficial
-
My plea is this, to anyone
who would wish to help us in good faith
-
to improve our dormitories and classrooms
should kindly do so
-
as we intend to expand our school and
accommodate more pupils.
-
This is because currently there is a
increased number of students in our school
-
and a shortage of resources to
to cover them all.
