and I really enjoy my job.
  • 0:19 - 0:21

I’m not sure it’s my dream job
  • 0:21 - 0:25

because I’ve always wanted to be in a successful band, but it's pretty good.
  • 0:25 - 0:28

Today, I’m going to be talking to people about dream jobs.
  • 0:28 - 0:31

    What do you do?
  • 0:31 - 0:32

    I’m a school teacher.
  • 0:32 - 0:36

I’m a minister with the Salvation Army.
  • 0:36 - 0:38

    I’m a stand-up comedian.
  • 0:38 - 0:41

I make French horns the musical instrument
  • 0:41 - 0:43

and I repair other brass instruments.
  • 0:43 - 0:47

I’m an architectural technologist, I design and build houses.
  • 0:47 - 0:51

I’ve finished my degree in education
  • 0:51 - 0:54

and I’ll be teaching history and maths.
  • 0:54 - 0:55

    I’m a student.
  • 0:55 - 0:58

    I’m a student nurse.
  • 0:59 - 1:03

What did you dream of doing or being when you were
    younger?
  • 1:03 - 1:05

I always wanted to be a teacher,
  • 1:05 - 1:08

my dad was a teacher, my brother is a teacher.
  • 1:08 - 1:09

I wanted to be a footballer,
  • 1:09 - 1:11

that’s what I wanted to do.
  • 1:11 - 1:14

I wanted to play for Liverpool or Arsenal
  • 1:14 - 1:18

and I was quite good but not good enough
  • 1:18 - 1:22

When I was a child I dreamt of being a professional Cellist
  • 1:22 - 1:26

and performing to whatever audience I could,
  • 1:26 - 1:29

within orchestras or on my own
  • 1:29 - 1:32

I always wanted to build things and design houses
  • 1:32 - 1:35

so now it’s part of my everyday life
  • 1:35 - 1:36

    and it’s kind of good.
  • 1:36 - 1:39

When I was a child most of the time I wanted to teach.
  • 1:39 - 1:42

For a while I wanted to be a paediatrician,
  • 1:42 - 1:44

    so a doctor for children.
  • 1:44 - 1:47

I wanted to be a vet then a solicitor.
  • 1:47 - 1:50

As a child I used to play a lot of guitar
  • 1:50 - 1:55

so I dreamt of becoming, starting a band
  • 1:55 - 1:57

and becoming a world famous guitarist.
  • 1:57 - 1:59

When I was younger I loved sports
  • 1:59 - 2:02

and I had a vision of some kind of career in sports,
  • 2:02 - 2:03

    professionally perhaps.
  • 2:03 - 2:05

Later on I was thinking of business
  • 2:05 - 2:06

    and the business realm,
  • 2:06 - 2:10

and finally I came away with serving people,
  • 2:10 - 2:11

    that was my dream job
  • 2:11 - 2:13

and I get to do that through the Salvation Army.
  • 2:15 - 2:19

Would you describe your job as a dream job?
  • 2:19 - 2:22

Yeh, it is a dream job, especially when it goes well.
  • 2:22 - 2:24

Every day is a different day
  • 2:24 - 2:26

and we do different things everyday
  • 2:26 - 2:29

so, yeh I would say it’s a dream job really, yeh.
  • 2:29 - 2:33

To be working within the music industry for me is a dream
  • 2:33 - 2:36

and I’m working with a lot of professional musicians
  • 2:36 - 2:41

and I see it as helping me achieve my overall dream, so yes.
  • 2:41 - 2:43

I’d say that nursing can be hard work
  • 2:43 - 2:46

but I’d say yes it is a dream job,
  • 2:46 - 2:49

because you get quite a lot of satisfaction, job satisfaction.
  • 2:49 - 2:51

    Yes, definitely.
  • 2:51 - 2:54

I feel that it allows me to be creative
  • 2:54 - 2:56

and I get to do what I always wanted to do.
  • 2:59 - 3:01

    Are you ambitious?
  • 3:01 - 3:02

    Yes, I am ambitious,
  • 3:02 - 3:05

I like to take control and make things happen for myself,
  • 3:05 - 3:08

in this profession I get to do a lot of things like that.
  • 3:08 - 3:10

I like to think I am.
  • 3:10 - 3:15

I’m living in Paris right now and that was always a dream of mine.
  • 3:15 - 3:20

I was once I think, but not so much now.
  • 3:20 - 3:24

I’m more ambitious for myself now in developing my own art
  • 3:24 - 3:27

rather than developing other people’s art.
  • 3:27 - 3:29

I want to get quite high up in my job,
  • 3:29 - 3:34

I want to be on good money and live in a nice house.
