"Q. While doing your musical activities, did you naturally pick up on things like writing songs?"

Ah, okay.

All of us are self-taught musicians.

There's no other way but to do things yourself, even if you mess up.

We still think that now.

It's a repetition of that.

"Q. I have no self-confidence and have gotten pessimistic. How can I have confidence in myself?"

I see.

Not everyone is the type of person who's super confident in themselves.

People have many complexes about themselves,

snd there are many times when you think you could do something better,

but you can try to improve yourself,

or try to find out why people say something's good when you yourself don't think it is.

I think it's about having the strength to acknowledge yourself.

You might not know what to do if that lessens,

but as for me, I've been a drummer for 14 years,

and the more I do it,

the more profound it gets.

There's no endgoal at all.

Because that's how I've been spending my life, I do lose confidence,

and I've always played believing that there are sounds that only I can make.

But...

I absolutely think each and every person has their own kind of charm.

Don't hate or blame yourself.

"Q. I've been obsessed with Honshibori Chu-Hi [alcoholic drinks] recently. RINA, do you have evening drinks at home?"

I don't drink at home at all.

Occasionally,

when we have after-parties or when we go out to eat,

I'll have one umeshu soda,

but I'm weak with alcohol.

Well, rather than weak, I'm not good with it.

So yeah, I don't [have an evening drink].

"Q. I'd like to do band activities in Japan. Can you give me any advice?"

This is from someone in South Korea.

I see. So they formed a band in Korea and they want to do activities in Japan.

At this point in time,

I think it's pretty difficult to go between countries.

We go overseas every year to play shows, which is important for us,

and instead of creating a different side to us shown only to overseas audiences,

we let people overseas see what we've completed in Japan. That's our stance.

It may be better to first solidify your style in your home country.

"Q. I've fallen for someone of the same sex for the first time. What should I do?"

People fall in love someone because of the person they are, not because of their gender,

no matter what kind of love it is.

First try talking to them and ask for their contact info,

nake plans to go out to eat,

find common topics,

and shorten the distance little by little.

I think it's the same as with anyone else.

"Q. What should I do when someone forces their sense of values onto me?"

When your ways of thinking differ?

Well...

Make sure to listen to what that person's saying,

and be like, "This is what I think."

Perhaps it's better to mention how you have a different way of thinking.

Even if the other person denies your opinion, don't deny theirs.

Be like, "I see,"

and make sure to state your own opinions too.

"Q. I've had a complex about my body hair for a long time. I'm wondering if men should remove their body hair as well."

A lot of men are removing their body hair these days.

If it's something you yourself want to do, then go ahead.

If it'll help you feel more self-confident, I think it's better if you do it.

"Q. Do you like cake? I work at a bakery and want to make your favorite cake."

This is from someone in France.

That makes me happy. A bakery? How nice.

That's lovely.

What kind of cake do I like?

I often choose chocolate cakes.

I've really liked them since I was a kid.

I also like fruit tarts.

"Q. SCANDAL gives me energy every day. RINA, what is most important for you when playing a concert?"

That makes me happy. Thank you!

I wonder... Maybe going all out!

Expressing myself using my entire being.

Perhaps.

"Q. I'm 20 years old and have never had a boyfriend. I'm worried about my prospects in the future too."

I think that's completely fine.

One will appear at some point,

and since it's never too late to fall in love,

don't feel rushed. It's completely fine.

"Q. RINA, are you the type of person who thrives on praise? Or are you the type that's driven by regret?"

I was once the type to be driven by regret,

but I'm not anymore. I get hurt very easily.

I'm pretty weak in that respect.

I want to be praised.

But it's normal to want to work hard after being told that it's okay.

Well, I'm grateful when someone calmly points out that something could be better if done in a certain way,

but I started to think that maybe I'm not the type that grows when I'm told something I don't like.

Please praise me.

"Q. Did you have any worries about being a band when you first started?"

None at all.

We didn't have time to worry.

It really was sink or swim.

We weren't level-headed about things,

and I'm glad for that now.

It's important to take the plunge, and I still think so.

"Q. Is it okay to consider getting remarried even though I have a son?"

I see.

Although you have a son, you also have your own life to live,

so I think it's very important to value your own feelings.

A mother's happiness means happiness for the child as well.

I think it's necessary to think about whether or not you can stay in a good relationship for a long time,

but it's not necessary for you to cut back on your life while taking care of your children,

so think hard about it.

I think it's fine [to get remarried].

"Q. Has anything changed in your life after starting your YouTube channel?"

I wonder.

Like, I always have a camera with me to record videos now,

and before I go to sleep, I now wonder what videos I should make next.

Also, I read comments and like them.

They make me go, "Ah, these opinions exist too."

I really think a new form of communication [with our fans] has been established for the first time by talking about things not related to music.

This exchange of conversation is so much fun.

"Q. What should I give my girlfriend as my first birthday present to her?"

I wonder. Given the season, how about a scarf?

"Q. I want to teach my kindergartener how to play an instrument. Which should they be taught: guitar or drums?"

Ah.

Is your child saying they want to play an instrument?

If they don't want to do it, that would make it very difficult for them to enjoy playing it,

or improve in their playing.

If they don't like it but have to practice every week,

the best parts about having a child who plays an instrument will be gone.

I wonder if they want to have their kid like music.

Playing music is a good thing,

and it'd be great if they took an interest in it.

Both guitar and drums are good.
