Cognitive Kali | Paul McCarthy | TEDxUCLA

Title:
Cognitive Kali | Paul McCarthy | TEDxUCLA
Description:

Paul McCarthy suggests that complex movements may have different effects on cognitive function than well-learned movements do. This lively talk includes demonstrations of the ancient Filipino martial art of Kali and drumming. He suggests that we start our own "movement revolution" as a pathway to greater health and well-being.

Paul McCarthy, “The British Ninja,” has been studying movement and martial arts for over 20 years. He holds black belts in various martial arts and received an MS in Kinesiology. He has experience coaching, teaching and managing various movement practices. Paul is fascinated by what makes the body tick and believes that movement is vital to a happy and healthy life and that training and opening your mind to multiple arts is a true path to maximizing your learning potential.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx.
