How to use first, next, last, after that, finally, etc.

Hi! My name is Valen and this lesson is about sequencing.

So, what we gonna learn today is.

OK. So just begin, you can use the word "first" or "first of all".

And then, for the second and third step of direction or instruction

OK. So, the first thing you do when you make a cake is you have to read the recipe. So
โอเค และ ขั้นแรกที่คุณจะทำเวลาคุณทำเค้กคือ คุณต้องอ่านส่วนผสมก่อนนะคะ ดังนั้น

First of all you have to read the recipe. (so)
ก่อนอื่นคุณต้องอ่านส่วนผสม ดังนั้น

Next you have to buy the ingredients.

Now, you have a choice here.

You don't have to use "First of all" you can just say

"First" you have to read the recipe.

And you don't have to say next, you can say

"Second" you have to buy the ingredients.

For the example we going to use "First of all" and "Next"

OK. So for the third step, we gonna use the sequencing word "THEN"

Then you should preheat the oven.

And like I said, if you choose to use ordinal number, you can say

First you have to read the recipe.
Second you have to buy the ingredients.
Third you should preheat the oven.

But we gonna use alternative frequency word

so we can say

THEN

OK. So doing two thing at the same time,

OK. Let's underline all sequencing words in this paragraph
โอเค มาขีดเส้นใต้คำแสดงลำดับทั้งหมดในพารากราฟนี้กันค่ะ

First of all you have to read the recipe.
Next you have to buy the ingredients.
Then you should preheat the oven.

While(= at the same time) the oven is preheating, mix the ingredients together and put them in a pan.
After that, let the cake bake for 20 minutes.
Finally(Lastly), take the cake out of the oven and ice it.

OK. What we do now is we going to use all the sequencing word differently.
โอเค ตอนนี้อะไรที่เราทำคือ เรากำลังจะใช้คำแสดงลำดับทั้งหมด แบบต่างออกไป

So we gonna use
ดังนั้นเราก็จะใช้

........... you have to read the recipe.
........ you have to buy the ingredients.
........ you should preheat the oven.

.............. the oven is preheating, mix the ingredients together and put them in a pan.
............ let the cake bake for 20 minutes.
............ take the cake out of the oven and ice it.

OK and so we gonna use the different frequency words, but it gonna have same meaning.
โอเค และดังนั้นเราก็จะใช้คำแสดงลำดับที่ต่างออกไป แต่มันจะมีความหมายเดิมนะคะ

Instead of using "first of all". Let's say "TO BEGIN WITH"
แทนที่เราจะใช้ "first of all" ก็มาใช้"TO BEGIN WITH" กันค่ะ

"TO BEGIN WITH" which has the same meaning with
"TO BEGIN WITH" ซึ่งมีความหมายเดียวกันกับ

"TO BEGIN WITH" = "FIRST OF ALL"

you have to read the recipe.
คุณต้องอ่านส่วนผสม

And I think, we said, in the first paragraph we said
และดิชั้นคิดว่าดิชั้นพูดไว้ ในพารากราฟแรก เราได้กล่าวว่า

NEXT you have to buy the ingredients.

Well, let's say "SECONDLY"
ดังนั้น เรามาใช้ "SECONDLY" กันค่ะ

SECONDLY you have to buy the ingredients.
ลำดับที่สอง เราต้องซื้อส่วนผสม

(NEXT = SECONDLY)

And then here, let's say
และต่อจากนั้น ตรงนี้ เรามาพูดว่า

I think we use next here (2nd), we can use next here(3rd) instead.

Next and then, are pretty much interchangeable.

So, we can say...umm, in this case it wouldn't really be good grammatically correct to say ...

during the oven preheating or during preheating.

So we gonna stick with "WHILE"

That was "WHILE" in this case.

So, that's how we use frequenting word.

Some of them are interchangeable
