What Does It Mean To Be Egoless?

  • 0:02 - 0:04
    Walk with Mooji Baba
  • 0:04 - 0:08
[Mooji] You gave me a very good question
    this morning,
  • 0:08 - 0:15
[Mooji] 'What does it mean to be egoless?'
    It means life, true life.
  • 0:15 - 0:18
What Does It Mean to Be Egoless?
    03-01-2018
  • 0:18 - 0:26
[Mooji] You are not dominated by feelings,
  • 0:26 - 0:31
your life is not in service to your person.
  • 0:31 - 0:35
Meaning that, for most human beings,
  • 0:35 - 0:38
our life is primarily in service to our person,
  • 0:38 - 0:42
    like how we are doing,
'I am not well', 'I need this',
  • 0:42 - 0:46
    'I don't have any money'.
It is all about us, us, us.
  • 0:46 - 0:49
And that is such a ...
  • 0:53 - 0:59
Our lives should be for service and for ...
  • 0:59 - 1:08
It is like, one life in service,
not to itself really, but to life,
  • 1:08 - 1:11
can make hundreds of people live the joy,
  • 1:11 - 1:15
    for many of them,
if you do it in proper service.
  • 1:15 - 1:24
A life in service to your self is selfish
and we would call it so wasteful.
  • 1:24 - 1:31
So much power is in you
and that power is not for your person.
  • 1:31 - 1:35
    So to be egoless ...
  • 1:35 - 1:40
when the person wants to be egoless,
  • 1:40 - 1:43
it is very difficult if the person remains.
  • 1:43 - 1:47
It's trying to be good, and it is OK,
it is also a very wide path.
  • 1:47 - 1:52
Most people are told, when they read scripture,
    'Love one another',
  • 1:52 - 1:55
'Do good to those who do bad things to you',
    like this.
  • 1:55 - 2:00
And people try to be as loving and kind
as they can be, and it is good.
  • 2:00 - 2:04
    It produces really good results,
    but sometimes something is artificial,
  • 2:04 - 2:08
if you are doing it because you are told
    you should be good.
  • 2:08 - 2:12
    We are looking for merits,
'If I do what is good, I get something',
  • 2:12 - 2:16
so it is still for ourself, in a sense.
  • 2:16 - 2:20
But when we wake up to the Truth
    that you are the Self,
  • 2:20 - 2:27
the Self cares for everything, for everyone,
    it is different somehow.
  • 2:27 - 2:32
    Life is much lighter,
your sense of personal problems just vanishes,
  • 2:32 - 2:35
like there are no personal problems.
  • 2:35 - 2:37
There is no person to have problems.
  • 2:37 - 2:40
Things come up in life, maybe someone can say,
  • 2:40 - 2:44
'I don't like you!' And it is going to be felt,
  • 2:44 - 2:48
and if they had a lot of poison
    inside that utterance,
  • 2:48 - 2:52
    you may feel that sadness,
but it will never overwhelm you.
  • 2:52 - 3:00
You are even able to do the right thing,
which is to say, 'God bless you'.
  • 3:00 - 3:03
Sometimes you don't say it in front of them,
  • 3:03 - 3:05
because it might even upset them,
  • 3:05 - 3:10
but in your heart you accept it.
And you take the poison out of your self.
  • 3:10 - 3:14
    The ego is the poison
inside the life of a human being,
  • 3:14 - 3:17
It just makes things bad, it's always selfish,
  • 3:17 - 3:20
it's always drawing energy to itself all the time,
  • 3:20 - 3:25
    it always needs to be right, all of these things;
    it's very poisonous.
  • 3:25 - 3:27
But sometimes not knowing another way
  • 3:27 - 3:30
it feels like, 'That is just how I am'.
  • 3:30 - 3:38
As you begin to wake up
to the deeper space of Truth behind the person,
  • 3:38 - 3:45
this is where self-inquiry or The Invitation
    brings you out of that,
  • 3:45 - 3:49
lifts you out of that space
    and into the space behind,
  • 3:49 - 3:54
where there is a field of pure intelligence,
    more light, more space.
  • 3:54 - 3:57
You already start to feel happy and light
  • 3:57 - 4:00
and in your happiness and your light,
  • 4:00 - 4:04
you naturally want to do what feels good.
  • 4:04 - 4:09
It is like what feels good
    comes naturally inside your heart
  • 4:09 - 4:14
    and selfishness feels ...
it's like a poison that leaves you,
  • 4:14 - 4:18
so you are not thinking so much in terms of that.
  • 4:18 - 4:23
When you find something that makes you happy,
  • 4:23 - 4:27
you want to share it to make
as many people as possible happy.
  • 4:27 - 4:29
You go through a door into a space,
  • 4:29 - 4:33
you want to let as many people as possible
    come through.
  • 4:33 - 4:39
    So egoless-ness is like this.
And the more ego is dropping away,
  • 4:39 - 4:46
    this heavy cloak of ego,
of 'I, me, me, me, I, me my, mine',
  • 4:46 - 4:49
there is just much greater space.
  • 4:49 - 4:52
That is why I say, you come into the God-field.
  • 4:52 - 4:54
    The God-field has no jealousy,
  • 4:54 - 5:00
all this kind of stuff goes:
    selfishness, heavy cravings ...
  • 5:00 - 5:07
You are in a field and it naturally cares
  • 5:07 - 5:10
and everything just gets picked up in it.
  • 5:10 - 5:13
It takes care of every aspect of your life
  • 5:13 - 5:17
and the lives of those you love.
  • 5:17 - 5:22
    But your love doesn't stop,
it keeps expanding more and more.
  • 5:22 - 5:25
So, that is what it is to be without ego.
  • 5:25 - 5:29
It is the most powerful thing in the whole world.
  • 5:29 - 5:32
Ego is the darkest force in the world.
  • 5:32 - 5:37
Freedom from ego is the most light
and beautiful force in the world.
  • 5:37 - 5:42
And that is, for me, the challenge
of living as a human being,
  • 5:42 - 5:46
    to transcend the egoic identity.
  • 5:46 - 5:54
But it seems very rare in our world,
  • 5:54 - 5:57
because so much is put on the person,
  • 5:57 - 6:01
it is like our first love and we love that first.
  • 6:01 - 6:05
But you are meant to love the Self,
    but not the person,
  • 6:05 - 6:08
    love the Self first,
but we tend to love it last.
  • 6:08 - 6:12
    It is like that.
We first grow up with a strong identity
  • 6:12 - 6:15
and all 'me, me, me', but we're never happy like that.
  • 6:15 - 6:19
    We need so many things:
we need money, we need friendship,
  • 6:19 - 6:23
    we need partners,
we need nice things in order to be happy.
  • 6:23 - 6:26
But someone who is free of ego
    can just be happy anyway.
  • 6:26 - 6:31
Wherever you put them, they are happy.
    They are not competitive,
  • 6:31 - 6:33
they are very broad in their dealings,
  • 6:33 - 6:38
they always think of the feelings of others.
  • 6:38 - 6:42
It's very beautiful and my wish and prayer is that
  • 6:42 - 6:49
it becomes contagious again just to be happy,
    that beings just enjoy ...
  • 6:49 - 6:51
    When we have group actions,
  • 6:51 - 6:54
    some people learn to see
    that they can work together
  • 6:54 - 6:58
and produce something beautiful, and they love it.
  • 6:58 - 7:02
    In Monte Sahaja now,
    the climate and the vibrations
  • 7:02 - 7:06
    have become so much higher,
so that the feeling of love is easy.
  • 7:06 - 7:08
People are not pretending to love,
  • 7:08 - 7:11
they are genuinely feeling the vibration.
  • 7:11 - 7:13
Where does this vibration come from?
  • 7:13 - 7:16
It's not that we came here
and it was a special land
  • 7:16 - 7:19
and the trees were giving a vibration.
  • 7:19 - 7:24
No! We are bringing the vibration,
    the living Self,
  • 7:24 - 7:27
by our actions, by our thoughts,
    by the meditation,
  • 7:27 - 7:33
    by the understanding,
by the veneration and the attraction to God,
  • 7:33 - 7:36
    or to pure consciousness.
  • 7:36 - 7:40
All of this is lifting the vibration,
    so it becomes powerful.
  • 7:40 - 7:43
Even people who don't know about these things,
  • 7:43 - 7:45
when they come, they feel something,
  • 7:45 - 7:49
'I feel good here. I like being here.'
    What are they responding to?
  • 7:49 - 7:52
They are responding to the vibration of the place.
  • 7:52 - 7:57
They probably don't know the philosophy,
    it's not important.
  • 7:57 - 8:00
It is the activity of the philosophy,
  • 8:00 - 8:04
it is the power of the guidance
    when it is accepted.
  • 8:04 - 8:08
There is no power in the guidance
    if it is not accepted.
  • 8:08 - 8:12
    When it is accepted,
then it wakes up and it starts to move
  • 8:12 - 8:16
    and then everything ...
The trees start to pick it up,
  • 8:16 - 8:19
the earth picks it up, everything picks it up.
  • 8:19 - 8:24
That is why in some places,
you can feel the vibration of the place
  • 8:24 - 8:28
even though that person is not there anymore.
  • 8:28 - 8:31
I have been to places like that, in India.
  • 8:31 - 8:35
Even in Jamaica, in Bob Marley's house
    I felt this vibration, actually.
  • 8:35 - 8:39
    I went to his room,
where his slippers are by his bed,
  • 8:39 - 8:44
    I wasn't expecting anything,
but the feeling of love was so powerful.
  • 8:44 - 8:46
    It was so wonderful!
  • 8:46 - 8:50
    In India, Gandhi's place
and different places I have been to,
  • 8:50 - 8:53
it feels 'Whoa', not so many, but quite a few.
  • 8:53 - 8:57
You feel this vibration and it lives in the walls,
  • 8:57 - 9:00
even the bricks hold the vibration.
  • 9:00 - 9:06
You go inside and you feel,
'There was happiness in this house!'
  • 9:06 - 9:09
    And it lives,
even though the people left their bodies,
  • 9:09 - 9:14
the happiness is inside the house.
    It is amazing!
  • 9:14 - 9:18
Sometimes darkness can live in a house also.
  • 9:18 - 9:22
These are the strong energies of attraction,
  • 9:22 - 9:28
desire, fear, love, these are powerful forces
    in the human kingdom
  • 9:28 - 9:36
and they affect even the earth,
    it leaves that vibration there.
  • 9:36 - 9:40
Sometimes people go to the forest,
they say they love being in nature.
  • 9:40 - 9:44
It's because it is not polluted by human darkness.
  • 9:44 - 9:47
So they feel, 'It is empty of that'.
  • 9:47 - 9:49
It has moved more into tree consciousness
  • 9:49 - 9:52
and land, earth consciousness, more into that.
  • 9:52 - 9:54
When you come to a place where
  • 9:54 - 9:59
the consciousness has manifested the human form,
    it is much more rich,
  • 9:59 - 10:01
it's more diverse in its expression.
  • 10:01 - 10:05
    If it is pervaded by
    and imbued with consciousness,
  • 10:05 - 10:07
    it is so powerful!
  • 10:07 - 10:21
This is why I say, it was 2,100 years ago
  • 10:21 - 10:24
when Jesus was here physically, on the Earth,
  • 10:24 - 10:28
and just through one human being
  • 10:28 - 10:36
who was the embodiment of the God consciousness,
  • 10:36 - 10:39
even after leaving his body, 2,100 years later,
  • 10:39 - 10:42
people are still becoming followers of Christ,
  • 10:42 - 10:44
    or followers of the Buddha,
  • 10:44 - 10:48
    or followers of Krishna,
who was here 5,000 years ago,
  • 10:48 - 10:52
    of Rama, who was here
many, many thousands of years ago.
  • 10:52 - 10:56
Why? Because the vibration is there
    when they hold that.
  • 10:56 - 11:01
So, it is a very powerful thing!
  • 11:01 - 11:06
    I used to say that
one human being forgot about themself
  • 11:06 - 11:10
and since then the whole world cannot forget them.
  • 11:10 - 11:13
That is a very powerful thing!
  • 11:13 - 11:20
Forgetting themself means to override the ego,
to just not listen to him.
  • 11:20 - 11:22
    They transcended that.
  • 11:22 - 11:27
    And their influence,
    their presence and their words
  • 11:27 - 11:33
impacted on the lives of millions of beings.
    So there are examples.
  • 11:33 - 11:35
And each of these human beings
  • 11:35 - 11:38
had exactly the same kind of blood type as us,
  • 11:38 - 11:42
looked at the same moon, the same stars
and the same sun, just like us.
  • 11:42 - 11:48
They still had appetites, they got tired,
    they sometimes didn't sleep,
  • 11:48 - 11:51
    they had friendships,
they had people who hated them.
  • 11:51 - 11:57
    Even still, they were glowing
in the spirit of Truth, the spirit of God.
  • 11:57 - 12:02
    So that, for me,
is the fulfilment of a human life,
  • 12:02 - 12:06
to wake up into the Truth of what you really are,
  • 12:06 - 12:09
and that, that is what God is,
  • 12:09 - 12:13
that you are inside the God kingdom
    inside your heart.
  • 12:13 - 12:15
    That is what is.
  • 12:15 - 12:19
A human being that merely follows scriptures
    on the surface,
  • 12:19 - 12:22
it is not enough. Their life will change,
  • 12:22 - 12:26
it will impact on the lives of other people,
    but in a soft way.
  • 12:26 - 12:32
But the one who abandons their ego
  • 12:32 - 12:36
and plunges fully into the God ocean,
    this one rises up
  • 12:36 - 12:40
and becomes a guide in the world,
    even if they don't speak.
  • 12:40 - 12:44
    Some beings don't speak,
but their presence is so powerful,
  • 12:44 - 12:50
because it is so much inherent in their being,
    this presence of God,
  • 12:50 - 12:55
that people can just be in their presence
    and they are transformed.
  • 12:55 - 12:58
    So for me,
that is what it means to be without ego,
  • 12:58 - 13:01
it is the most powerful thing in the world!
  • 13:01 - 13:03
If I were to meet two people,
  • 13:03 - 13:08
one who has been to Venus
and lived there for six months,
  • 13:08 - 13:12
one who lived in a cardboard box for six months
    in meditation and God
  • 13:12 - 13:17
    and who has awakened,
I would go there any time and be with this one.
  • 13:17 - 13:20
I don't need to speak to an astronaut about life,
  • 13:20 - 13:23
because they could be equally full of ego.
  • 13:23 - 13:27
But the one who has transcended ego
    inside themself,
  • 13:27 - 13:32
that would be my happy date.
  • 13:32 - 13:36
I would rather go and sit there,
    just to be with this,
  • 13:36 - 13:40
to be in that field of beings,
    even beings who love God,
  • 13:40 - 13:43
or who are searching for Truth,
    that is holy company.
  • 13:43 - 13:46
Just to be in the company of seekers of Truth
  • 13:46 - 13:49
    is called auspicious, as well.
  • 13:49 - 13:55
So I feel that we are in the right place,
  • 13:55 - 14:00
    that more and more beings
    are finding true happiness,
  • 14:00 - 14:04
    not a trip,
not, 'We are going to conquer the world!' No.
  • 14:04 - 14:08
Just finding, one by one is enough,
  • 14:08 - 14:13
that light moving in the world is something.
  • 14:13 - 14:17
Because I don't think the world needs
    more books about spirituality.
  • 14:17 - 14:20
They need human beings who embody the Truth
  • 14:20 - 14:23
rather than books that write about the Truth!
  • 14:23 - 14:29
They want to see the living book,
not just a book of paper.
  • 14:29 - 14:32
They want to see a book of a human being like them
  • 14:32 - 14:36
    whose life challenges or confronts
  • 14:36 - 14:38
    or reveals something inside themself.
  • 14:38 - 14:42
By meeting someone of that calibre,
  • 14:42 - 14:47
their being cannot deny that it has met God.
  • 14:47 - 14:49
Many times we have heard of stories
  • 14:49 - 14:53
where people who have professed themselves
    to be atheists,
  • 14:53 - 14:58
have met a being who has that impact on them,
  • 14:58 - 15:01
that they know, 'Whoa, I don't know what this is,
  • 15:01 - 15:08
but it is causing all these changes
    inside my heart'.
  • 15:08 - 15:13
Because they can't be a true atheist,
    it is just a strangeness.
  • 15:13 - 15:16
It just means the depth of ignorance,
  • 15:16 - 15:20
    that you don't acknowledge
that there is a Supreme power that controls
  • 15:20 - 15:24
and determines the order of the universe
    and cares for things.
  • 15:24 - 15:29
It is not human beings who are doing it,
    allowing these trees to grow
  • 15:29 - 15:33
and sending rain and changing the weather
  • 15:33 - 15:36
and taking care of all the different planets,
  • 15:36 - 15:42
not only in one solar system,
but in all the solar systems!
  • 15:42 - 15:45
Even talking about it makes you feel weak.
  • 15:45 - 15:50
    You can't grasp the magnificence
and the might of that Supreme Being.
  • 15:50 - 15:53
The Being is not separate as an entity
    doing the things,
  • 15:53 - 16:00
it is inside the things themselves.
    It is like a ...
  • 16:00 - 16:03
God cannot be just a form,
  • 16:03 - 16:07
or God is embodied in all forms and beyond them.
  • 16:07 - 16:09
    The forms are constantly changing,
  • 16:09 - 16:13
because He gives them the portion of time
    and growth
  • 16:13 - 16:22
    and anything that is growing
    must be transforming and changing.
  • 16:22 - 16:28
    But the God-Self is unchanging
    and yet manifesting change
  • 16:28 - 16:34
and taking care of all the different permutations
    of its expression.
  • 16:34 - 16:37
Sometimes I just want to try and portray it
  • 16:37 - 16:41
as a kind of field of energy, but not just energy,
  • 16:41 - 16:47
it is an intelligence and a spirit ...
  • 16:47 - 16:50
This is the visible expression of it
  • 16:50 - 16:55
    and appearing out of it,
it gives many clues, that's if you look.
  • 16:55 - 16:58
We look and see the hair on someone's head,
  • 16:58 - 17:00
which keeps coming out, but from what?
  • 17:00 - 17:04
If you look inside the head,
there's no hair inside, coming out.
  • 17:04 - 17:07
Nothing is there, it's just growing.
  • 17:07 - 17:10
    It shows you,
'Out of emptiness I create all these things,
  • 17:10 - 17:14
sustain them and bring them back to emptiness'.
  • 17:14 - 17:19
It is too magnificent to talk about!
  • 17:19 - 17:26
    Some beings get overwhelmed
at just the majesty of that power.
  • 17:26 - 17:33
So that power is the source
of your own sense of Self.
  • 17:33 - 17:37
To know this, even if you don't understand it,
  • 17:37 - 17:39
should set your life on fire already,
  • 17:39 - 17:42
you should have to go and sit down.
  • 17:42 - 17:45
There is no end to gratitude for knowing
  • 17:45 - 17:47
that your life is sourced in God.
  • 17:47 - 17:54
For someone who doesn't really comprehend that ...
  • 17:54 - 17:57
Also that is designated by the power,
  • 17:57 - 18:00
    that there will be beings
who don't feel that for a while,
  • 18:00 - 18:04
    and eventually,
they must wake up to that in themselves.
  • 18:04 - 18:08
    An auspicious life, for me,
is a life which moves away from the ego
  • 18:08 - 18:11
which creates blindness inside the being
  • 18:11 - 18:16
    and makes us
be concerned just about earthly things,
  • 18:16 - 18:20
as opposed to one who is aware
  • 18:20 - 18:24
    and living in that awareness,
and then living as that awareness.
  • 18:24 - 18:29
If you come to live as awareness,
you are already in the kingdom,
  • 18:29 - 18:31
you are already in that space.
  • 18:31 - 18:36
It is even, I would say, greater than heaven,
  • 18:36 - 18:39
if I can say something like that.
  • 18:39 - 18:43
When that feeling came, I just thought,
    Is that blasphemous to say?
  • 18:43 - 18:48
I felt, if heaven is made of images and objects,
  • 18:48 - 18:51
then they are also in a kind of time.
  • 18:51 - 18:56
    Maybe, one of God's days
could be a thousand human years.
  • 18:56 - 18:59
Who knows? But whatever it is,
    there has to be change.
  • 18:59 - 19:03
If there are different levels of beings,
  • 19:03 - 19:09
then of course, the process of evolving
    and growing is still there.
  • 19:09 - 19:14
    But in the pure awareness,
it is not concerned about growth.
  • 19:14 - 19:19
    It is so perfect,
but it is so unappealing to the mind,
  • 19:19 - 19:23
because the mind is always concerned
    about things and objects
  • 19:23 - 19:28
and having and losing and getting
    and changing and growing
  • 19:28 - 19:31
and becoming and losing, it is all of that.
  • 19:31 - 19:37
    Whereas in awareness,
it is transcendental to such concepts.
  • 19:37 - 19:43
This is what I am trying to say,
when I say to everyone, Leave this now.
  • 19:43 - 19:48
    Leave this now.
Leave even the concern for your identity.
  • 19:48 - 19:50
Leave all of this. Who am I speaking to?
  • 19:50 - 19:54
To the intelligence that doesn't hear this enough.
  • 19:54 - 19:57
    When it hears this command
    that comes from the heart,
  • 19:57 - 20:01
it is able to drop everything
and then be in the oneness,
  • 20:01 - 20:03
in the experience of its own oneness.
  • 20:03 - 20:11
Then you see people in the hall in satsang,
    in the meditations like this,
  • 20:11 - 20:16
    and with guidance like this,
then the disturbance is not there,
  • 20:16 - 20:20
it is like you are in a transcendental plane.
  • 20:20 - 20:24
Selfishness and all this kind of stuff
    just thins away
  • 20:24 - 20:34
and it is as though you are floating
in a lighter dimension of being.
  • 20:34 - 20:38
So it is very tangible, actually, that we feel it
  • 20:38 - 20:41
and we have the capacity to experience it.
  • 20:41 - 20:44
In the beginning, for many people,
    their mind comes.
  • 20:44 - 20:49
    Sometimes people come here,
they are not used to this type of environment
  • 20:49 - 20:52
and you see how much their mind is troubling them.
  • 20:52 - 20:56
It appears as though the place and the people
    are troubling them,
  • 20:56 - 20:58
but their own mind is troubling them.
  • 20:58 - 21:02
    It feels uncomfortable,
    because it feels challenged,
  • 21:02 - 21:04
'What are these people so happy about?
  • 21:04 - 21:09
I don't even trust them. They are pretending.'
    It goes into overdrive,
  • 21:09 - 21:15
    cynicism, judgements, discomfort,
    all these things come up.
  • 21:15 - 21:20
But they are just the birth pains
    to reach a higher state,
  • 21:20 - 21:24
    if they persist,
and often they don't, they go away.
  • 21:24 - 21:26
    But something is inside
  • 21:26 - 21:32
and that seed begins to grow inside them,
    because God brought them here.
  • 21:32 - 21:36
    Even if they feel,
'I didn't want to come here, my wife ...',
  • 21:36 - 21:39
it's still the force that caused them
    to come here,
  • 21:39 - 21:42
to experience the disturbance that's in them,
  • 21:42 - 21:45
    but they don't recognise
    that it's coming from them.
  • 21:45 - 21:47
They think it's coming from outside.
  • 21:47 - 21:52
But it's coming from a reaction
to the energy they are experiencing
  • 21:52 - 21:54
that they're not yet compatible with,
  • 21:54 - 21:58
because they are so much in the domain
    of egoic identity.
  • 21:58 - 22:01
    So that is shaking.
  • 22:01 - 22:07
So, it is a very good question
    you gave me this morning,
  • 22:07 - 22:11
on what it means to be egoless.
  • 22:11 - 22:16
    It means life, true life.
  • 22:16 - 22:27
When we think of Jesus, or Prophet Muhummad,
    or Krishna, or the Buddha,
  • 22:27 - 22:31
    it immediately ...
Even people who don't know about these things,
  • 22:31 - 22:35
    they know it represents
    a higher level of consciousness,
  • 22:35 - 22:41
a level where love and peace are the climate.
  • 22:43 - 22:45
When we say 'I', the implication,
  • 22:45 - 22:49
the real meaning of 'I' is consciousness.
  • 22:49 - 22:54
But rarely in the world, when we say 'I',
    does it mean consciousness.
  • 22:54 - 22:57
It means individuality, it means person,
  • 22:57 - 22:59
it means, 'I am a man', 'I am a woman',
  • 22:59 - 23:02
it is such a contraction, such a limitation.
  • 23:02 - 23:08
But 'I', even the one who is awake will say 'I',
  • 23:08 - 23:12
    knowing that it is referring
    to a sense of individuality.
  • 23:12 - 23:19
    But underneath that 'I',
they are in that space of a deeper knowing,
  • 23:19 - 23:27
    a spiritual knowing that
it is consciousness speaking, and not the person.
  • 23:27 - 23:31
It is a different vibration altogether.
  • 23:31 - 23:33
    When you are with someone,
  • 23:33 - 23:37
and when they speak you experience spaciousness,
  • 23:37 - 23:41
that 'I' is the 'I' that comes from consciousness,
    that is consciousness.
  • 23:41 - 23:44
When you are speaking with someone
  • 23:44 - 23:46
and you have to be careful what you say,
  • 23:46 - 23:52
that 'I' is loaded with the personhood.
And you can see the person ...
  • 23:52 - 24:00
    The Earth full of personhood
is a very suffocating place. Stifling!
  • 24:00 - 24:04
Even if there were only three million people
    on the Earth,
  • 24:04 - 24:07
well probably that's a small number,
  • 24:07 - 24:10
    but when you meet them,
you would feel a bit suffocated.
  • 24:10 - 24:15
But one human being who is awake to the Self,
  • 24:15 - 24:20
in a crowd of thousands, shines and illumines,
  • 24:20 - 24:26
    raises the level of consciousness
    in people who recognise it.
  • 24:26 - 24:29
Because something in us can recognise
  • 24:29 - 24:35
that you are standing in a higher Presence,
    that's what happens there.
  • 24:39 - 24:42
    Even without being told
  • 24:42 - 24:46
    people start to behave differently
    to someone who is awake.
  • 24:46 - 24:49
They can't help it. Without knowing consciously,
  • 24:49 - 24:53
'Oh, that person is some ...',
    they just behave differently.
  • 24:53 - 24:59
They may start by treating it like,
    'This is a regular thing',
  • 24:59 - 25:06
    but gradually, the presence begins
    to sort of percolate
  • 25:06 - 25:10
and to move more deeply inside them,
    and it changes them.
  • 25:10 - 25:14
    Their climate starts to change,
they start to feel more kind, more open,
  • 25:14 - 25:16
they want to do things for you,
  • 25:16 - 25:20
    that is without knowing anything
    about spirituality.
  • 25:20 - 25:27
It is commanded in the world,
one of the Hadiths of the Prophet says that
  • 25:27 - 25:30
    when God created the world,
  • 25:30 - 25:38
it says that God commanded the whole world,
    'Serve those who serve me'.
  • 25:38 - 25:42
Meaning, those who are searching for Truth,
    serve them.
  • 25:42 - 25:47
'And make weary and tired those who serve you.'
  • 25:47 - 25:50
Do you understand? It is a powerful thing!
  • 25:50 - 25:52
    'Serve those who serve me.'
  • 25:52 - 25:57
Meaning, serve those, take care of them,
    who honour God and Truth.
  • 25:57 - 26:02
'Make tired those who serve you',
who serve the world, make them tired.
  • 26:02 - 26:05
Is that a curse? No, it is a blessing also!
  • 26:05 - 26:09
Because when you get tired of your own rubbish,
  • 26:09 - 26:11
then maybe there is space finally to say,
  • 26:11 - 26:14
'I have to try something different'.
  • 26:14 - 26:17
It says, 'Make weary those who serve you',
  • 26:17 - 26:22
because their service is in vain,
it's just serving matter and not spirit.
  • 26:22 - 26:24
    So it is beautiful.
  • 26:24 - 26:29
It is written inside the heart,
in the DNA of every living being,
  • 26:29 - 26:31
    not just human beings,
  • 26:31 - 26:35
that in the presence of one
    who venerates the Truth,
  • 26:35 - 26:39
something in them will honour them.
    It will respond to them,
  • 26:39 - 26:42
at first it may even want to get rid of them,
  • 26:42 - 26:49
but it can't deny that their presence
has an impact upon the existence.
  • 26:49 - 26:52
That is the power of the Holy Spirit
  • 26:52 - 26:55
and the spirit of Truth in each one.
  • 26:55 - 27:00
I say, this place has to shine in that.
  • 27:00 - 27:03
It has to, as long as I am here.
  • 27:03 - 27:08
It has to be that our focus is on cutting the ego.
  • 27:08 - 27:12
And not just cutting, cutting the ego,
    but living in the Truth.
  • 27:12 - 27:15
Because if your life is only
trying to cut, cut, cut ego,
  • 27:15 - 27:18
maybe you don't even taste the full joy,
  • 27:18 - 27:21
you are too busy trying to cut the ego.
  • 27:21 - 27:24
But I say, I am showing you the Truth also,
    in the meantime.
  • 27:24 - 27:28
So as you are trying to cut the ego,
    you find the Truth,
  • 27:28 - 27:32
    you put down your cutter
and just rejoice in the Truth
  • 27:32 - 27:36
and let the Truth cut the ego.
    Isn't it beautiful?
  • 27:36 - 27:42
Let the Truth cut the ego.
Why do your hands have to cut the ego?
  • 27:42 - 27:44
[Friend] That's what The Invitation does.
  • 27:44 - 27:47
[Mooji] That's what The Invitation does!
  • 27:47 - 27:51
The Invitation takes all the dirty work,
the grime and stuff out of it
  • 27:51 - 27:55
and brings you into the lap of God.
  • 27:55 - 27:59
    [laughter]
  • 27:59 - 28:02
For this my heart is so happy,
  • 28:02 - 28:08
because sometimes when you see the beings ...
  • 28:08 - 28:13
    If somebody comes here,
'I'm so thirsty. Can I have a glass of water?'
  • 28:13 - 28:15
You give them a glass of water.
  • 28:15 - 28:18
    If somebody falls down,
you say 'Come, let's get up'.
  • 28:18 - 28:21
Even though your back is hurting,
    you help them up,
  • 28:21 - 28:25
'How are you feeling? Better? Sit down.'
    You help them. No?
  • 28:25 - 28:28
Somebody is hungry, 'Brother, please ...'.
  • 28:28 - 28:32
You give them something to eat.
  • 28:32 - 28:35
Whatever you can do, you help.
  • 28:35 - 28:38
If they are sick, what are you going to do?
  • 28:38 - 28:41
Something must be in you to help them.
  • 28:41 - 28:45
    Whether it is prayer,
or you start to learn to bless people,
  • 28:45 - 28:48
even if it doesn't work, you still keep doing it.
  • 28:48 - 28:51
'My intention is to bless their life,
    to give them ...
  • 28:51 - 28:54
not that their life becomes like mine.'
  • 28:54 - 28:58
Just bless their life with whatever it needs
    to remove the obstacles,
  • 28:58 - 29:02
to remove whatever it is that is contaminating,
  • 29:02 - 29:07
or disfiguring the spontaneity of their life,
  • 29:07 - 29:11
to banish that by the power of God.
    You bless them!
  • 29:11 - 29:14
    And with this also,
people are searching for the Truth,
  • 29:14 - 29:19
they can't find it, 'It's so difficult'.
I say, You read The Invitation.
  • 29:19 - 29:25
    Listen to this.
Just listen to it. Just listen to it.
  • 29:25 - 29:28
And that is the big help they can get.
  • 29:28 - 29:32
    They say, 'Oh my God,
I was getting ready to do all the gymnastics
  • 29:32 - 29:36
to try and get over these things,
and you made it so easy'.
  • 29:36 - 29:40
    Some things become so easy.
'I didn't have to go through my mind,
  • 29:40 - 29:46
I didn't have to go down
into this dark place of myself.
  • 29:46 - 29:49
I came to the light place of myself.'
  • 29:49 - 29:52
    Isn't that a wonderful thing?
  • 29:52 - 29:55
Why does everybody have to suffer,
    blood, sweat and tears?
  • 29:55 - 30:01
    And they can't do it,
because human beings are getting weaker.
  • 30:01 - 30:04
They want everything to be done by machines.
  • 30:04 - 30:08
Even the work on ourselves ...
  • 30:08 - 30:12
Yes, if it is to build your ego, you will do it!
  • 30:12 - 30:15
You will lift heavy weights to build up the ego.
  • 30:15 - 30:19
But to change, to transform your heart
  • 30:19 - 30:24
from a suffering place into the abode of peace,
  • 30:24 - 30:29
    'I can't get into that!'
Because they feel it doesn't show.
  • 30:29 - 30:34
    So perhaps this is why
    grace brought The Invitation now,
  • 30:34 - 30:37
to say, 'But you have to also come in.
  • 30:37 - 30:41
    You think you are happy,
but that is not the real happiness.'
  • 30:41 - 30:46
And to try to get them.
I feel this must be why ...
  • 30:46 - 30:49
For me, The Invitation is the easiest thing,
  • 30:49 - 30:54
    like someone holding your hand,
walking you through the door, 'Lets go'.
  • 30:54 - 30:58
    'I want to meet Jesus.'
Come with me, I will show you right here.
  • 30:58 - 31:01
    Just a minute.
Let's walk through to the other side.
  • 31:01 - 31:05
'I was going to go to Jerusalem and to Calvary.'
  • 31:05 - 31:11
No, no. He is right here. Come.
I walk you through the door. Isn't it so?
  • 31:11 - 31:13
    [laughter]
  • 31:13 - 31:16
    [Friends] Thank you, Mooji.

Title:
