Roleplays' Props | ASMR Antiques Show & Tell #6 | Cozy Basics (soft spoken)

  • 0:41 - 0:42
    Good evening,
  • 0:42 - 0:47
and welcome to this new video about the props
  • 0:47 - 0:50
    I've used in my roleplays.
  • 0:50 - 0:55
So tonight I will mainly show you antiques
  • 0:55 - 0:57
that you may have seen on my sets
  • 0:57 - 0:59
    these last months.
  • 0:59 - 1:02
And we're going to dive straight in
  • 1:02 - 1:06
with one of my favorite props.
  • 1:07 - 1:10
I was so happy when I found this
  • 1:10 - 1:14
    after weeks of searching.
  • 1:16 - 1:21
This is the chess pieces set
  • 1:21 - 1:26
That I've used in "The french court's game" roleplay.
  • 1:28 - 1:31
It's not from the 18th century of course
  • 1:31 - 1:35
not even close to what we could find at this time
  • 1:36 - 1:40
as I was looking for pieces with
  • 1:40 - 1:44
    human heads, human faces,
  • 1:45 - 1:47
so I could pretend these were
  • 1:47 - 1:49
    characters from the Court.
  • 1:50 - 1:53
    This is a german set,
  • 1:53 - 1:55
    from the 40s,
  • 1:55 - 1:58
    and a one-of-a-kind I believe,
  • 1:58 - 2:00
    probably handmade.
  • 2:01 - 2:04
This is not in perfect condition,
  • 2:04 - 2:09
    some small parts are missing.
  • 2:10 - 2:15
But most of the pieces are still undamaged.
  • 2:16 - 2:17
    And
  • 2:20 - 2:23
I just fell in love with their look.
  • 2:29 - 2:31
Even if it looks quite modern
  • 2:31 - 2:34
I believe their design was inspired
  • 2:34 - 2:37
    by the Middle-Ages.
  • 2:45 - 2:49
All the pieces are carved from
  • 2:49 - 2:52
    one block of wood
  • 2:52 - 2:54
    with a square shape.
  • 3:15 - 3:18
    So here we have...
  • 3:18 - 3:22
The white King, the black King.
  • 3:29 - 3:31
    Queens...
  • 3:41 - 3:43
    The black knight.
  • 3:43 - 3:47
In french we call this one "Le cavalier"
  • 3:47 - 3:50
    which means "the horse rider".
  • 3:59 - 4:02
    A white pawn...
  • 4:11 - 4:13
    The bishop.
  • 4:13 - 4:19
In french we call this piece "le fou", "the fool".
  • 4:30 - 4:31
    Oh yes,
  • 4:35 - 4:38
    a tower of course.
  • 4:40 - 4:42
    This one is very simple.
  • 4:49 - 4:51
    White bishop...
  • 4:55 - 4:56
    Alright.
  • 4:59 - 5:02
    Let's put them back...
  • 5:03 - 5:08
It always feels like I'm playing Tetris.
  • 5:29 - 5:31
    The White Queen...
  • 6:03 - 6:05
    Perfect.
  • 6:07 - 6:09
    Last one here...
  • 6:16 - 6:17
    Good.
  • 6:22 - 6:23
    Alright,
  • 6:23 - 6:26
the next props I wanted to show you
  • 6:26 - 6:29
    are the bottles and phials
  • 6:29 - 6:32
I've used in the "hair parlour" roleplays.
  • 6:33 - 6:35
So I found many of them
  • 6:35 - 6:39
    on secondhand websites
  • 6:39 - 6:45
and some of them are really lovely
  • 6:45 - 6:48
    with very interesting shapes.
  • 6:50 - 6:53
    Like these two :
  • 6:53 - 6:56
    very high, very "edwardian".
  • 7:04 - 7:08
So these are probably from the 50s.
  • 7:10 - 7:13
    We can still the labels.
  • 7:14 - 7:16
    One for soaps
  • 7:17 - 7:20
    and one for bath salts.
  • 7:25 - 7:28
It's from the north of France.
  • 7:29 - 7:33
And I decided to add some kind
  • 7:33 - 7:36
    of antique labels on them.
  • 7:38 - 7:40
    Hair related of course.
  • 7:52 - 7:56
And, there was also this set.
  • 8:03 - 8:05
    Two...
  • 8:08 - 8:10
    Three...
  • 8:13 - 8:15
    And four.
  • 8:18 - 8:21
    These are very elegant.
  • 8:23 - 8:29
Probably from the 30s or 40s maybe.
  • 8:30 - 8:32
And I really like their design.
  • 8:35 - 8:38
It almost looks like it's crystal.
  • 8:59 - 9:01
The main piece of the set is
  • 9:01 - 9:05
    this perfume spray.
  • 9:06 - 9:10
    But it doesn't work anymore.
  • 9:19 - 9:20
    And...
  • 9:21 - 9:30
There was also some pharmacy pots like this.
  • 9:31 - 9:34
    These are from the 60s.
  • 9:39 - 9:44
    And some very common bottles,
  • 9:47 - 9:50
on which I added labels as well.
  • 10:02 - 10:03
    Alright.
  • 10:18 - 10:22
And now let's skip to the tarot decks.
  • 10:23 - 10:23
    So...
  • 10:25 - 10:28
    I've used 2 different decks
  • 10:29 - 10:32
    in the fortune teller roleplay.
  • 10:33 - 10:36
One small you could see at the very beginning
  • 10:36 - 10:38
    of the video.
  • 10:38 - 10:42
And one that I've used for the reading.
  • 10:46 - 10:48
This small one is very nice
  • 10:48 - 10:51
    because it's made of paper
  • 10:51 - 10:54
and it has this authentic look
  • 10:54 - 10:57
    that modern decks don't have.
  • 10:57 - 11:01
Unfortuntely it was a bit too small
  • 11:01 - 11:04
for the reading in my opinion.
  • 11:06 - 11:09
    That's why I didn't use it.
  • 11:10 - 11:14
Still I really like how the back is made
  • 11:14 - 11:17
even if the printing could have been better
  • 11:17 - 11:19
    on the front.
  • 11:21 - 11:25
This is a reproduction of a french tarot
  • 11:25 - 11:27
    from the 19th century.
  • 11:31 - 11:34
    But with a medieval look...
  • 11:39 - 11:40
    "Madness".
  • 12:04 - 12:07
On each card we can see 2 meanings
  • 12:08 - 12:13
Depending on if you get the card upright
  • 12:14 - 12:17
    or reversed.
  • 12:26 - 12:27
    "Love"
  • 12:30 - 12:31
    "Desire"
  • 12:38 - 12:41
    And the other one is
  • 12:42 - 12:44
    a more modern tarot.
  • 12:45 - 12:49
    It's from the 60s I think.
  • 12:50 - 12:54
But still inspired by the Middle-Ages.
  • 12:59 - 13:04
So this is an original card,
  • 13:06 - 13:08
    very shiny,
  • 13:08 - 13:10
it was way too shiny for my video.
  • 13:13 - 13:19
So I used tissue paper on both sides.
  • 13:25 - 13:28
And it did the job I believe.
  • 13:37 - 13:43
So this one is very classic.
  • 13:44 - 13:46
    Seven of coins...
  • 13:51 - 13:52
    The Emperor...
  • 13:56 - 13:58
    Five of swords...
  • 14:02 - 14:04
    The Moon...
  • 14:12 - 14:14
    Page of cups...
  • 14:18 - 14:20
    King of coins...
  • 14:37 - 14:38
    Alright.
  • 14:42 - 14:46
And yes I also read a lot of questions
  • 14:46 - 14:51
about the crystal I used at the end of this video.
  • 14:53 - 14:55
    It is an obsidian mirror.
  • 14:56 - 14:59
A piece of obsidian that was polished
  • 14:59 - 15:02
until it looks like a mirror.
  • 15:03 - 15:09
It was and it is still used to practice divination
  • 15:09 - 15:13
Just as you would do with a crystal ball.
  • 15:15 - 15:17
    The black surface is meant
  • 15:17 - 15:19
    to help you focus
  • 15:19 - 15:23
and let your brain create images.
  • 15:25 - 15:27
I'm not sure I'm very good at
  • 15:27 - 15:29
    this kind of explanations.
  • 15:30 - 15:32
    As Dolly Parton said
  • 15:32 - 15:35
    "the magic is inside you
  • 15:35 - 15:38
    there ain't no crystal ball".
  • 15:41 - 15:45
    Still I'm fascinated by crystals
  • 15:46 - 15:49
there are so many that have
  • 15:49 - 15:52
    amazing colors or textures.
  • 15:53 - 15:56
And this one is really beautiful
  • 15:59 - 16:03
    with a very mysterious aura.
  • 16:12 - 16:15
    And this is quite heavy.
  • 16:18 - 16:19
    Alright.
  • 16:24 - 16:28
The next antiques I wanted to show you
  • 16:28 - 16:33
    are the stereoscopic slides and
  • 16:33 - 16:35
    the stereoscope
  • 16:35 - 16:39
I used in the latest steampunk roleplay.
  • 16:51 - 16:55
So these are about 100 years old.
  • 16:56 - 17:01
You may be familiar with modern stereocopes
  • 17:01 - 17:03
    or these magazines
  • 17:03 - 17:07
where you can see animals in 3-dimensions
  • 17:07 - 17:10
    with some kind of glasses.
  • 17:11 - 17:15
Well here this is the same concept
  • 17:15 - 17:17
    but older.
  • 17:26 - 17:30
So there are 2 pictures on each slide
  • 17:31 - 17:34
    with a slightly different framing.
  • 17:35 - 17:39
And when looking at both at the same time
  • 17:39 - 17:43
you brain will create one image
  • 17:43 - 17:46
    with a 3D feeling.
  • 17:49 - 17:51
This is something that cannot be
  • 17:51 - 17:53
    reproduced on screen
  • 17:53 - 17:55
and that you can only see
  • 17:55 - 18:00
by directly looking at the pictures
  • 18:04 - 18:06
    in a stereoscope.
  • 18:12 - 18:16
This one is about 100 years old as well.
  • 18:18 - 18:24
Made of wood, plastic and metal.
  • 18:30 - 18:36
This is just a box, that lets the light in
  • 18:36 - 18:39
    through this window.
  • 18:44 - 18:46
    So these pictures are mainly
  • 18:46 - 18:48
    from Switzerland.
  • 18:49 - 18:53
Landscapes and people in the 20s.
  • 18:54 - 18:57
Let's see what we can find here...
  • 19:05 - 19:08
    Some kind of castle.
  • 19:24 - 19:27
    People on lakeside,
  • 19:27 - 19:30
    sitting on benches...
  • 19:36 - 19:38
    What else...
  • 19:44 - 19:46
    Trees.
  • 20:03 - 20:05
    A boat,
  • 20:06 - 20:07
    on a lake.
  • 20:18 - 20:22
And let's skip to the final items.
  • 20:23 - 20:26
    And these are catalogues.
  • 20:27 - 20:30
I wanted to end this video
  • 20:30 - 20:34
    with some relaxing page flipping
  • 20:35 - 20:39
So there is one that I used in my latest video
  • 20:40 - 20:42
where I'm one the phone with you
  • 20:42 - 20:44
    for an order.
  • 20:46 - 20:50
And I also found a few others
  • 20:50 - 20:52
    in french this time
  • 20:52 - 20:57
but there were not really in very good condition
  • 20:57 - 21:00
    that's why I didn't use them.
  • 21:02 - 21:04
    But since they are about
  • 21:04 - 21:08
    110 years old
  • 21:08 - 21:11
    let's not be too strict.
  • 21:17 - 21:22
So let's start with this one.
  • 21:36 - 21:41
So this one is from 1912.
  • 21:42 - 21:45
    And it's about household linen.
  • 21:55 - 22:00
This is from a big store in Paris
  • 22:00 - 22:03
    and it still exists actually.
  • 22:10 - 22:13
But I've never been in this one.
  • 22:18 - 22:22
There is still the samples page in it.
  • 22:27 - 22:29
    With fabrics...
  • 22:30 - 22:32
    So you could decide
  • 22:34 - 22:37
    which one you wanted.
  • 22:47 - 22:49
    I like this one.
  • 22:56 - 23:01
And now let's have a look at the different departments.
  • 23:05 - 23:06
    Silently...
  • 23:07 - 23:12
And I hope you'll sleep well.
