Interesting Church History - Don’t Be Deceived

  • 0:01 - 0:03
    Hey everyone out there!
I want to take you on a journey,
  • 0:03 - 0:06
a little church history, very interesting
    church history
  • 0:06 - 0:09
and then I want to ask you some
    very personal questions.
  • 0:09 - 0:16
If you look at Christianity, Christianity
started in Israel as a body of believers,
  • 0:16 - 0:19
who were led by the Holy Spirit,
    who were preaching the gospel,
  • 0:19 - 0:22
    who were healing the sick,
    who were casting out demons.
  • 0:22 - 0:25
People repented, get baptized in water,
    received the Holy Spirit.
  • 0:25 - 0:29
    They experienced persecution, but
    they experienced the real life,
  • 0:29 - 0:36
the life we read about in the Book of Acts.
So, it started as a body, a body of believers.
  • 0:36 - 0:39
Then it came to Greece and became
    a philosophy.
  • 0:39 - 0:42
It moved from Greece to Rome and
    became an institution.
  • 0:42 - 0:46
It moved from Rome to the rest
of Europe and became a culture.
  • 0:46 - 0:51
And it came overseas to America
and became a business, an enterprise.
  • 0:51 - 0:57
But if you make the enterprise,
the business out of a body -
  • 0:58 - 1:03
then that is prostitution. And this is,
sadly, what we have done today -
  • 1:03 - 1:07
we have prostituted the body of Christ.
And Jesus is not going to come back
  • 1:08 - 1:10
    for a whore, or prostitute.
  • 1:10 - 1:15
He is going to come back
for a beautiful, beautiful clean bride.
  • 1:17 - 1:20
Lets look at the church history again.
  • 1:20 - 1:24
Christianity started in Israel as a body
    of believers who came together.
  • 1:24 - 1:28
It was a movement. It was the Kingdom
    they were preaching,
  • 1:28 - 1:30
with a King - Jesus Christ.
  • 1:30 - 1:36
They had everything in common often.
They ate together, they came together daily.
  • 1:36 - 1:40
    They were healing the sick.
    They were casting out demons.
  • 1:40 - 1:42
    They were preaching the gospel
    and people repented, got baptized,
  • 1:42 - 1:46
received the Holy Spirit. And they
    were living this amazing life
  • 1:46 - 1:49
    together with persecution because
    that is part of it,
  • 1:49 - 1:55
this life we read about in the Book of Acts,
    the real life with Christ,
  • 1:55 - 1:58
    led by the Holy Spirit,
    supernatural life.
  • 1:59 - 2:03
    But what happened?
    Christianity changed many places.
  • 2:03 - 2:07
It came to Greece and became
    a philosophy.
  • 2:07 - 2:13
And this is what it is for many people today.
Maybe this is what Christianity is for you
  • 2:13 - 2:16
    - just a philosophy. And Jesus is
    just a big philosopher.
  • 2:16 - 2:20
    One among many.
  • 2:20 - 2:24
But Christianity is so much more
    than a philosophy.
  • 2:24 - 2:30
And if you see Christianity as a philosophy,
one among many - you are deceived.
  • 2:32 - 2:38
But what happened? It became a philosophy.
And then it grew, moved from Greece to Rome
  • 2:38 - 2:42
    and became an institution -
    the Catholic Church.
  • 2:42 - 2:46
Out of this we have the Lutheran Church,
    we have many churches today
  • 2:46 - 2:49
    where church is an institution,
  • 2:49 - 2:55
where many look at Christianity as something
you go and do in a building Sunday morning,
  • 2:55 - 2:59
where the priest is a middle man
    between you and God.
  • 2:59 - 3:05
You go to a certain place, a holy place,
    with some holy people,
  • 3:05 - 3:09
who do some holy things, and then,
    when you leave that place,
  • 3:09 - 3:13
you leave God in that building.
  • 3:13 - 3:18
    Many people today see Christianity
    as just an institution.
  • 3:18 - 3:23
If you see Christianity as an institution
    - you are deceived.
  • 3:23 - 3:27
But then it came from there, from Rome,
and it spread all over Europe
  • 3:27 - 3:31
    and it became a culture.
And it was what I grew up in.
  • 3:31 - 3:35
I grew up in culture Christianity.
  • 3:35 - 3:40
I got baptized as a baby, I got confirmed.
I did what the church told me to do.
  • 3:40 - 3:43
it was just a culture. I did never
go into a church... Yeah, when there was
  • 3:43 - 3:45
a wedding or a funeral, because that
    was what we did.
  • 3:45 - 3:48
    But I was christened. Why?
    Because I was Danish.
  • 3:48 - 3:54
It was the part of my culture.
90% at that time got baptized as a baby.
  • 3:54 - 3:58
it was something you did in Denmark
    because it was our culture.
  • 3:59 - 4:06
I was deceived. I grew up thinking
that Christianity is like a culture.
  • 4:07 - 4:11
If this is like you, if you look
    at Christianity as a culture
  • 4:11 - 4:15
and not as a personal, strong personal
    relationship with God -
  • 4:15 - 4:17
    you are also deceived.
  • 4:17 - 4:24
Then it moved from Europe to America
and became an enterprise, a business,
  • 4:24 - 4:28
where you are not led by the Holy Spirit,
but you are led by the money
  • 4:28 - 4:33
and it's all about the money, it's all
    about getting that business running.
  • 4:33 - 4:37
And now I am in America and I am shocked.
    Like, some churches I've seen
  • 4:37 - 4:41
    it's almost like franchise,
    the way they run it.
  • 4:41 - 4:45
You run a church today like you run
    "McDonald's" or "Burger King".
  • 4:45 - 4:50
It have really many places became
    a business.
  • 4:50 - 4:55
And it's centered around the money
and about getting this business running.
  • 4:56 - 4:59
I don't know where you are today.
  • 5:00 - 5:07
You can see Christianity as a philosophy
and be all over the world today.
  • 5:07 - 5:10
You can see Christianity as a culture
and be all over the world today.
  • 5:10 - 5:13
You can see Christianity running as a business
and be all over the world today.
  • 5:13 - 5:16
    It's not only in America
    it have become a business.
  • 5:17 - 5:22
I want to say with this words:
Make sure that Christianity for you
  • 5:22 - 5:26
    is not a culture,
make sure it's not a philosophy.
  • 5:26 - 5:32
make sure it's not a business.
Make sure that is the real stuff.
  • 5:32 - 5:40
    It's a movement, it's a family,
    it's a Kingdom, it's a body of believers.
  • 5:40 - 5:44
Make sure that your life looks like
the life you read in the Book of Acts.
  • 5:44 - 5:48
    That is the real thing.
Before it started to get destroyed
  • 5:48 - 5:50
    by so many other things.
  • 5:50 - 5:54
    God bless you out there!
Don't be deceived like I have been deceived
  • 5:54 - 6:00
for many years. Don't be deceived.
See the truth. Take up your Bible.
  • 6:00 - 6:04
    Read the Book of Acts.
Read how the early church was living.
  • 6:04 - 6:08
Look at your life. If your life doesn't look
    life the Book of Acts,
  • 6:08 - 6:11
how the early church was living,
    then there is something wrong.
  • 6:11 - 6:14
And it's not in the Bible there's
something wrong. It's in your life.
  • 6:14 - 6:18
But I guarantee you. If you repent,
    if you seek God
  • 6:18 - 6:21
and start to step out on the Word of God,
    you are going to experience
  • 6:21 - 6:23
an amazing life, like we read
    in the Book of Acts,
  • 6:23 - 6:27
and it's going to change your life,
and you're going to come back to
  • 6:27 - 6:28
how it was in the beginning.
  • 6:28 - 6:30
God bless you all out there!
    Bye-bye!
