Ron Drzewicki: In Mason, our people are
the heart and soul of our school district.
-
Our teamwork, our collaboration, make the
difference each and every day
-
in the lives of our students.
-
Our reach is wide, and our
impact is powerful.
-
Bonnie Cantu: We're the beginning.
-
This is the first experience that these
young children have with our school system.
-
We need to form that positive bond, with
both the parents and the students,
-
because this is their first exposure.
-
We want their step going to kindergarten
and then out to our elementary schools to
-
always be positive.
-
This is a team; a strong team.
-
We take a lot of pride in that.
-
A lot of pride in this school.
-
Abby Betcher: We help the children with
toileting and eating snack, and we do
-
various activities and sing songs.
-
Krystal Hodge: I know that children that
have extremely low income need the extra
-
love, they need the extra caring, and
I love that I'm able to help those children.
-
Melissa Halstead: I think just having a great
working relationship between us and the
-
teachers helps put off a wonderful
front of the schools;
-
teachers, secretaries work together,
everyone's working together so the kids
-
are the ones who are able to bloom and grow.
-
Jodie Deroshia: Mason is so great about
including all kids in the gen-ed setting.
-
All of my students go to gen-ed at some
point during the day.
-
It's just such a wonderful team that they
make sure that everyone is included,
-
and those kids, now they have so many
friendships; my students, I feel like we're
-
the most popular kids in the building. We
can't walk the hallways without being stopped
-
a million times by everybody greeting us.
-
Jerry Parsons: Mason Schools have always
maintained their buildings really well,
-
their teaching staff is out of this world.
They go above and beyond,
-
and the maintenance and the custodians
do the same thing:
-
We're always willing to go the extra mile
to keep the buildings looking nice and
-
clean and safe for students and staff.
-
Stephanie Keith: I love driving a school bus,
I love children.
-
I started driving a school bus because my
daughter was in kindergarten and she loved
-
her driver.
-
Field trip with her, she said, "Mom! Can
you drive the next field trip?" and I said,
-
"Sure, how hard can that be?"
-
I got that binder from our transportation
department, and got through testing and,
-
I've been driving now going on
almost eight years.
-
Jencina Riegert: Mason is exemplary because
most of the people that work for the food
-
service are from Mason, and so we have the
home town feeling. We grew up here.
-
We work here, and kids come through from
parents we graduated with, or grand kids
-
even sometimes, and we just all
enjoy our jobs.
-
Mary Kay Gavitt: The biggest part of the
job is the aquatics, so we offer a lot of
-
aquatics programs, and spend a lot of time
spreading the word of drowning, and what
-
we can do to prevent it.
-
We have many different classes around the
community and right here at our school.
-
Some of the classes we offer are Karate for
kids, babysitting classes, we have painting
-
classes, we offer driver's education classes,
we have a photography class.
-
Very proud of Mason Public Schools because
they really give me that power to go over
-
and try to get everybody involved and,
-
I'm very proud to be a Mason
Public School employee.
-
Pete Hudson: This is kind of an outdoor
classroom;
-
They're learning, and you know, you're
doing it for the kids because they're out
-
here because they want to be, not because
they have to be.
-
It's just nice to make things good for them.
-
We invite people to our school everyday;
sometimes there's a hundred sometimes
-
there's three hundred, a thousand, and so
you just want to make it-- it's got to
-
look good because you're inviting people in.
It's just got to look good.
-
Kyle Kruizenga: A the high school I take
care of the athletic wing and a couple of
-
the science rooms on the other
end of the building.
-
And I love people and I love the community
of Mason.
-
In one word: Family.
-
Everybody comes together when something
needs to be done.
-
Roger Brock: Well I've been here for
19 years, and when I first started it was
-
just a job, but it didn't take long after
that until I realized that this is some
-
place I'm going to stay for a while, then
I got to know everybody,
-
it's more like a family now.
-
A lot of the stuff we do, nobody knows
about. And that's the way it should be;
-
if we're doing our job, people don't even
know we're here, mostly.
-
Stephanie Keith: We go the extra mile all
the time, so that's what makes us amazing;
-
we're hard working people.
-
Jodi Deroshia: I believe that it takes a
village, and just, Mason is great about that.
-
Everybody works as a team to help all the
kids reach their success in development.
-
Abby Betcher: Some days are easier than
others, but each day is so rewarding to just
-
see the joy on the children's faces to come
to school, to learn, and to see the teachers
-
and their other friends in other classrooms.
-
It's just, I've fallen in love with it.
-
Melissa Halstead: The outpouring of love
and support that you get from this
-
community is absolutely overwhelming.
-
Bonnie Cantu: It is a strong community.
We care about our schools.
-
Stephanie Keith: It's amazing. I think it's
a wonderful, growing community and
-
it just is a place that feels like home.
-
Roger Brock: The way I look at it is, I try
to do my small part for the education of
-
the future leaders of this great country.
-
I say that a lot, and, you know,
and it's true.
